Negative experience: If I could give less than one star, I would. This place is filthy garbage and management clearly doesn’t know what they’re doing (mediocrity at it’s finest). They don’t hire adequate staff therefore everything is done half assed and cheaply. It’s also the ghetto, members fighting each other and yelling. Everything is old and outdated, this gym either needs a renovation or just close down. This place is clearly a reflection of the people in charge… a mess!

Negative experience: Spoken to front desk multiple times on these issues: - Broken/damaged equipment not being repaired. - Men's Showers has Hair, paper towel, smell like BO - Weights are all over the place. Front desk informed me they don't have staff to clean in the AM?
Negative experience: The only reason me and my husband have been keeping the membership is to use the whirlpool sometimes. However, the whirlpool is under maintenance very often, so We could barely use. Some people wear underwear in the pool and most of people don't even take a shower before coming into it. And today the it is extremely dirty. Hope the management acknowledges and takes better care for it.
Negative experience: Deceptive membership practices. 3 day free trial is with the expectation that you will join the gym and not free for everybody including those just visiting. Free trial email says membership options MAY be presented not that you are expected to join.

Negative experience: This gym is a HUGE money grab. My boyfriend talked to a guy at the front desk about canceling his membership he said no issue I’ll take care of it. Since he used my card for his first payment I ended up getting charged 250$. Apparently his membership never canceled and that’s just the payments he “missed”. To cancel the membership is over $500. Which no one told us about at all. The manager there was very rude and wouldn’t help me out at all. Neither would customer service. I have a child on the way and the $250 was my grocery money. La fitness totally screwed us over. Now I have no way to feed us because of this gym. Going to be reporting this gym ! Especially with seeing all the reviews with people having the same issue ! WOULD NOT RECOMMEND ANYONE STARTING A MEMBERSHIP HERE!
Positive experience: Solid gym, only had the chance to use the weights, no pool or basketball court. Great service, got in with a trial membership. Would definitely go, but just be wary that they’re not 24hrs.

Positive experience: Honestly a pretty good gym, can get on a machine when you want one it’s not over crowded. Good price and can cancel anytime which is nice, only thing is 90% of the time I’m at the gym the pool is being used for children’s swimming lessons so it’s unavailable for use, some men bring their daughters into the men’s change room which is very weird and shouldn’t be happening at all. Also the paper towels for whipping machines seem to constantly be empty, washrooms in the change room seem to go neglected by staff also
Negative experience: Worst gym ever they give you wrong information when i sign up they told me i would be charged 2 time fee and and i can cancel anytime and the next month would be free for me but when i cancel it after 2 weeks because i didn't had time they charged me another payment and when i told that i want to cancel it because i dont have time they told me they cannot do anything about it and they told me its a something fee for it dont go in this gym ever. They just took almost $225 for free i only went for 1 and a half week hardly

His team consistently pushed me to challenge my limits while ensuring my form and technique were always correct, preventing injury. Negative experience: I worked with Vibhu to get personal training. I paid cash and was assured that my card would not be charged for personal training. The trainer I got was great, but after a few sessions she told me she was going out of town (I think) and I got transferred to a new trainer. I still had a number of sessions left that I had paid for in cash, so I stopped going at that time. It was 8 months later that I discovered they had charged my card (which I provided for my membership only) for over $230 per month for every month since then (about $2000). Never a phone call or a text from my trainer about this. Nothing. After speaking with Vibhu (the training manager), I was told I had 30 days to use 31 sessions that I had already paid for. An absolutely crazy way to do business especially when a human being that you trusted assures you that you can use your sessions whenever (since my trainer canceled several times) and that my card would not be charged as I wanted to pay in cash. My advice is don't trust what they tell you and don't come to this club if you're not great at reviewing your statements.
Negative experience: Hello everyone, Please make sure you UNDERSTAND what “agreement” you’re signing for personal training and a “dietician”. They are not clear at all when communicating the terms of the contract nor the cancellation policy. And make sure you don’t talk to the VP because they are of no assistance in resolving any dispute. They will just show you the contract and ask you if you remember signing the agreement. So please, remember to ask questions and affirm what you understand. Don’t play into how fast they want you to sign a contract you don’t understand. Quick $750 to LA Fitness in 2 days!
Negative experience: I am not satisfied by the services provided by the gym. I am not even getting interaction secession of 4 hrs per month. I have paid 303$ for training of just 60 mins in a month. I want my refund for such poor services. While discussion with your sales manager, we got so embarrassed by the arrogance and behaviour that we are deciding to close the membership on the spot, on which we have been asked to pay further $650+ taxes to close. We have not been used the services for which we are being asked to pay!!

Negative experience: Well, didn’t really have a chance to check out the facility. Moving to Edmonton and was welcomed with big smiles by a Noah when they were talking about the plans. I asked to activate my 2 day pass as per my email offer and they refused to allow me to do so. Disappointed with the service and it seemed very capitalistic. If anyone has a gym in Edmonton they would recommend I’d be more than happy to look into it.

Negative experience: "Absolutely terrible experience at this gym. From the moment I walked in, I felt unwelcome, and unfortunately, it was clear that this was due to my race. Several staff members and even some regulars treated me with a cold, condescending attitude, which was incredibly uncomfortable. What’s worse is that they seem to enforce different rules and regulations for different people. I’ve seen certain members not following the rules properly but when we are trying to do sonething they point us directly at that moment.The 'rules' seem completely arbitrary and fake, just an excuse to discriminate. It’s a shame because the facilities are decent, but the toxic environment is unbearable. I won’t be returning and NEVER recommend this gym to anyone who values respect and equality."

Negative experience: Bizarre and poorly communicated hours, including but not limited to closing at 8pm on weekends. Showers constantly smell like an outhouse. High ratio of male members who wear axe body spray. Spend the extra $10/mo and go to GoodLife.
Negative experience: I tried to use a "free" pass today, which they emailed to me after I enquired about membership. At the gym, they told me it was no good, but I could pay a $20 drop in fee if I wanted to work out. Free pass, but just pay $20? Doesn't anyone have any integrity anymore? This was not just the counter person not knowing what to do. A membership person confirmed that what they sent me was not actually a 3 day pass, and that the QR code on it meant nothing (was not scannable) even though the email said to just present it at the counter. I know gyms are known for their squirrelly practices, but this is beyond the pale.
Negative experience: Stuff at this location i find rude and childish , i mean when you sitting at reception it is mostly to give customer service not just flirt with guys :) Plus the shower curtain in black and white curtains what a joke not sure what they try to demonstrate .....
Fantastic experience: Vibhu is an excellent and very knowledgeable, during my assessment he gave me very good pointers and advice on nutrition, diet, personal strength, and cardio that was an eye opener to me. He is personable, friendly, has given me great service and acknowledgement to any of my questions or concerns.
Negative experience: Worst gym ever, no one told about the hidden fee while changing membership, they just wanna sell and make their money. Staff is the worst, they do not care about the service at all.
Negative experience: This gyms just whackkkk .. is this a gym or a dame community centre or a dame circus ? Negative experience: BEWARE!!! SIGN UP ANYWHERE ELSE. UNETHICAL SHYSTERS. I have not been to this gym in over a year. I've called numerous times and sent am email letting them know that due to my circumstances I am unable to physically attend the office to 'cancel my membership. All they could do was 'freeze' my account which means I still pay $10.50 per month plus a annual fee of $50. I have literally lost approx. $200+ because they refuse to cancel my account. I finally wrote an email and was then told I can cancel via mail (snail mail) after printing some form and sending it to some office. No body told me this before. Regardless, it has been SO LONG that I don't even know my login information to generate and print said 'form'. Firstly, how come they can lie by omission? Like, no tell me from the onset about ALL my options to cancel? & how come ai can repeatedly tell them that I withdrawl consent to withdrawl from my account and that I do not want the membership but still be forced to pay? They just take the money anyways. For reference, I am not locked into a contract. I'll update this post when / if this gets resolved. This has already been going on for well over a year. There was no problem to 'freeze'my account so it's curious that they are unable to simply cancel the membership. It is further curious that on MULTIPLE occasions since my membership has been frozen that company has taken double payments out of my account wherein, I've had to go and call them over and over, to get the extra payment reimbursed. Honestly, this is shady AF business practices and I have no tolerance for it and niether should you. Update: they responded to my email - they refusing to do anything. If anyone else has this issue you can report to BBB & local MLA & your bank can put stop payment. Update #2: Today I was finally able to go into LA Fitness. I didn't even have to provide I.D. Literally the receptionist cancelled my membership in a matter of a few clicks & seconds. No problem! So how come this couldn't be done over the phone? LA Fitness, you have stole from me. I have contacted Alberta Service & Red Tape. This conduct is in breach of the consumer protection act. Contact Alberta Service to file a complaint if you have a similar experience. Know your rights!
Fantastic experience: I had great experience with Vibhu who gave me thorough detailed information on how to improve my diet to see good results with weitht loss! I can see results already within a 1 month time frame! Would recommend!

Fantastic experience: Had a great experience at LA fitness - Very affordable, clean Gym with lots of equipment. Hardly ever have to wait for a machine or a set of weights. Vibhu was also very helpful - He was kind, and gave me some very good advice with my assessment.
Fantastic experience: Love all their amenities! It’s very clean. The membership is very affordable and I only pay an extra $10 a month for drop in childcare for my 14 month old. The childcare staff are lovely and attentive. My son enjoys his time in Kids Club.
Negative experience: When I join the gym only for Zumba. When I join they were offering so many Zumba classes, after year they stop running Sunday noon and Monday evening Zumba class. I am very disappoint with the class changes.
Negative experience: I have been coming to this gym since 2020, This past winter some members bring their outside footwear to the lockers and made them muddy. Some members get in to the sauna with workout attire, also used some kind of an oil in the hot stones to make inside smell like mint. Very poor management in the south location.
Fantastic experience: Marie is simply the best Personal Trainer. Ever since I started to be coached by her; I have achieved my goals and improved my technique in so many exercises that I didn’t knew how to do.

Negative experience: Updating my review and leaving this here for proof. I had recently complained about people doing this and the front desk girl said she’d talk to a manager. Obviously they decided to ignore it, didn’t even bother to put up a sign. Fast forward a couple weeks and I try to go to sauna but the room smelt like a nasty STENCH. Not BO but worse, it was absolutely disgusting I felt like throwing up. I showed the front desk manager the photo emphasizing this was the reason I cancelled my membership. Shout out to her because she swiftly went back to the sauna to remove the clothes, but unfortunately the whole sauna smelt awful, I couldn’t imagine sitting there for more than 2 minutes. Really disappointing considering how much money we pay. Taking my business to GoodLife and convincing my friends to do the same. No pools and they have a sign that says to not hang clothing on the ledge. Please take notes LA.
Negative experience: We invited our friends to work out here with guest passes that clearly states “work out today” but when they get there, they were told that it takes 24 hours for them to receive the registration. The receptionist did not have any compromise and refused them entry. We had to talk to Christian at sales as our friends are actual potential clients. It’s insane how dismissive the receptionist was and no compromise on was given when our friends have the guest code sent to them. Would’ve rated them 1 star if not for Christian.
Negative experience: Originally posted Feb 2024: I have been coming to this gym since 2017. This past year I have been trying to swim to get fit after having my baby. I can only swim on weekends. In the past two months I have come here 3 times to the pool being closed. I only have a membership here so I can swim. This is extremely frustrating. Updated Nov 2024: When the pool IS open True Blue has swim lessons there. That’s fine, I don’t mind sharing the pool but the stench of urine that comes out of their change tents is too much. It doesn’t seem like they clean the tents when a child has an accident in them. I let 2 LA fitness staff members know 8 months ago but nothing has changed
Positive experience: I started my journey with LA Fitness last year in August and I had the pleasure to have worked with a trainer who has helped me in my journey in my weight loss. Thanks Kanwar gill I was able to lose 70+ pounds he will literally tell you the tips and tricks to gain muscle and proper nutrition but unfortunately he had to quit LA Fitness in order to pursue his career in law-enforcement Kanwar LA Fitness lost a very very good trainer which was my main reason to cancel the training session part of my membership but overall I had a very very good experience pretty much all was hasslefree keep up the great work LA fitness hopefully one day I would have the opportunity to invest in LA Fitness to open a branch for myself
Negative experience: Decent pricing for what you get, but the hours of operation need to be adjusted. The showers and locker rooms need a cleaning improvement, always dirty and smelly. Staff is always vacuuming which is nice but give some more love to the locker rooms and showers.. As for the gym itself, has older equipment and haven't seen any upgrades since becoming a member last year which is disheartening.
Negative experience: Who read term and conditions these days? I am the la member for west side La fitness. My buddies was here so I decided to work out with them . Girl Manager Did not let me in because I am only west side member . Had to pay 10 dollar to get in . Totally understand but some time customer appreciation is Important . Negative experience: The gym is alright, but the staff is horrendous. All they care about is your money. Once they get your bank info, they’ll do anything to suck your money dry. Lots of hidden fees, unable to freeze account when required to. Overall just horrible place to signup for gym membership.
Negative experience: Kind staff and reasonable prices. But noticed barely anyone wipes machines down after use anymore, more people not putting weights back, people hold machines to no use for up to an hr or more at times. More and more machines are getting broken and dated as well. With the new hours I may have to find a new gym. The new times don't work for me anymore. Closing at 10 on weekdays and only open till 6 on weekends now but same price. They're making it hard for me to use my membership.
Fantastic experience: I had session with Amazing training director Vibhu. He has such depth knowledge about workout and nutrition. I highly recommend him for personal training.
Positive experience: Very good gym but, if you expect to be able to use the pool peacefully at any time of the days, you will be disappointed by the children's swimming classes provided by a third party school that takes a good part of the afternoon and evening. The pool and spa area, and the change room, are noise and a mess at the swimming classes hours.

Negative experience: Good Facility but too pricey. When i want to cancel my son membership i called thru phone i was told u can cancel in person , then i go in person they want only monday-friday and when i go tuesday i was told need to bring my son 16yrs old in person to cancel omg . i told them im the one whos paying the bills and they cancelled it in no time they let me go back and forth but they can cancel it in 2 second seriously. they ask me the reason why u want to cancel i told them too pricey. Positive experience: I've been going here for a number of years and overall great experience in terms of amenities, price, variety of equipment available, and atmosphere. However, when a piece of equipment is out of order, I usually expect to not be able to use it for the foreseeable future. In that same issue, I don't see any maintenance of equipment. There are sometimes pieces of equipment that have loose nuts and bolts that simply require a hex key and the knowledge of "righty tighty, lefty loosey" and when asked, the staff say they are waiting for maintenance to come in. There is also a lower number of barbells than the number of benches so when it's busy, there is equipment that could be used if there were enough barbells available. Having said that, overall it's a great gym especially if you go before or after it's busy.
Fantastic experience: I recently visited this gym and was impressed with its excellent facilities. The wide range of machines and spacious layout provides a comfortable environment for diverse workouts. The cleanliness is exceptional, and the staff's assistance contributes to a positive atmosphere. I would rate it 10/10 for its overall quality and welcoming atmosphere. Highly recommended!
Negative experience: The swimming pool is not operational most of the times. I have taken the subscription only for the pool and it is of no use. The staff is not aware of the status most of the time. Absolutely useless.
Negative experience: When this facility opened, it was one of the best in Edmonton. Today, it's a dump, most machines are broken, never fixed, the place is run down and the owners don't care to maintain it. Something really has to happen here. Staff are nice though.
Fantastic experience: Really good gym, everything is functional and diverse, good basketball gym. I was helped by Vibhu and he’s excellent, he has a lot of knowledge on the subject and helped me alot in order to figure out how to workout and what to workout!
Fantastic experience: Pool, sauna, huge variety of machines. half the price of a GoodLife membership. Dollar for dollar, this is the best gym in the city.
Negative experience: Ok gym, the introduction was good, the temporary membership was free but I did get a sales pitch, which was a tiny bit motivated on the attendants side. the equipment is decent and the layout works well. The gym seems dated as a juice store is closed down, there is nowhere to buy a sports drink inside and the pool has cold air, also the Jacuzzi has too much chlorine in it as I felt the fumes were toxic. The inside of the lockers were dirty, I also got an itchy rash a week after. The basketball group was eating in the locker room which is unhealthy, the same members were then eating again outside the building, which is pure greed. I felt the price is too much for the result at that location.
Positive experience: Overall it’s an alright gym. I’ll split it up into pros and cons. Pro: Has a good amount of amenities. Usually relatively clean facility. Atmosphere is good most of the time. Clean change rooms. Variety of machines and free weights to meet most of your needs. Cons: Sales staff seem like car dealership sales reps that don’t take cancellations seriously. Some of the equipment remains broken for a while. Dirty inside lockers. Super busy. The application for the gym isn’t the best, wonky and not user friendly.
Fantastic experience: Contrary to a lot of reviews I see on here, my experience has been nothing but awesome with the team of staff, and the gym since I joined here. I signed up two weeks ago now, as I was recommended to give this gym a shot by one of their personal trainers I met through work, Kanwar. The front desk was very helpful even though he was running behind to meet me there, and still helped me take a look around, and because of the polite, positive experience, and the fact that the gyms facilities are all very clean, and well maintained (literally I always see janitorial staff keeping the place spic and span) I decided to sign up. I will note that I see many bad reviews from people with bad attitudes, but if you are kind to the staff, they tend to be kind back ;). I believe the young lady who helped me to sign up was named Lana, and she was very willing to help me through the process, go over the contract agreement thoroughly, and made good conversation as well. She was also most helpful in signing my friend up for a 7 day free trial, and I will not if you plan to bring a friend, let them know 24 hours in advance, and they will be most accommodating :). I will touch on the fact that the one water bottle refill station is spotty as it’s used by so many people, there are times when it hardly gives any water, so it would be cool if they fixed that, or added an additional station, however there are water fountains in each change room, so it’s not the end of the world. Overall great experience, awesome gym community, and all the equipment I could ask for, plus hot tub, pool, sauna, all for a reasonable price. Glad I chose to give LA fitness a shot.

Negative experience: While i signed up and was lied to in the Mississauga location, it was the front staff Sara that pushed me to cancel my membership today. When I signed up in the Mississauga location, I was told I would have unlimited guest privileges and that I could use my pass at ANY la fitness. The sales rep Mo quit one week into my membership and it turned out he lied. When I asked the manager they just said oh, sorry but that’s not the case. I was upset but didn’t mind as I was still able to use my pass when I travel. I come to Edmonton frequently and in fact used the Calgary trial facility a month or so ago with no issue and they even helped me get my mom a 7 day pass. I also used it at the West end location the day before. Today I walked in, scanned my phone and went on my way. Sara, the front desk rep says to me sir, you’re not allowed to go in. Your pass is only for ONT and you need to pay $10. I replied that I signed up for an all access pass and that I’ve used this pass yesterday and at her location before. She rudely responded by saying “well, they’re not doing their job, if you want to go in, it’ll be $10” I asked again how was I able to get in before and I’m sure my rep said it was all locations. Sara replies that it’s not the case and that I’m lucky I wasn’t charged but if I keep asking her, she will back charge me for the previous visits. I was in disbelief that she was the customer service manager. I called my gym and they called the Edmonton location and talked to Sara but she refused to let me in without paying and told the Mississauga staff I was rude. Edmonton managers, I hope you have video and audio of this interaction. All I did was ask how and wanted to clarify. I didn’t swear, raise my voice or make a scene. All good, I canceled my membership and will just go to GoodLife. Based on other reviews on this location, customer service training is lacking.
Negative experience: Time to upgrade some equipment. Hard to find a TV that works on any of the cardio machines, rips in a lot of the vinyl on weight training equipment and often a smell of sewage from the bathrooms. Front desk staff is not very friendly. No water sold in the place so don't forget your bottle. Disappointing that there are less expensive memberships at other clubs that offer higher standards. Sauna is a nice feature and not very crowded, likely because there are better gyms out there.
Negative experience: Dirty, so so dirty. Did not even want to stand on the change room floors in my socks. Lockers are full of hair. Washroom smells awful. Floors around equipment in the gym is dirty, two of the paper towel holders were empty. I won’t be going back to this club, I’d rather drive an extra few minutes to another.
Negative experience: I was in the change room with my boys, getting ready for swimming. They were laughing and playing, not harming anyone. The cleaning lady came storming up to me saying “you can take your kids to the playground across the street, they need to be quiet”. I was absolutely shocked and when she walked away she rolled her eyes and gave my boys very dirty looks. My little boy asked me why she was so mean to them and made him cry. My boys were not out of line at all waiting and laughing. I am absolutely appalled by behaviour to children and paying customers. She was attacking and very demeaning to us. This all took place on September 20th 2023 at 7pm.
Fantastic experience: Had a pre- training session with Vibhu and it was quite informative. He shared a lot of knowledge about health and fitness. I didn’t feel pressure to sign up right away. Just the needed knowledge to make my decision. It was a good session
Fantastic experience: Had an exceptional session with Vibhu the trainer at LA Fitness. Very knowledgeable and very well informed. Have provided the great information about the heath and work out with personal training. Can’t be thanked enough. Great to have him as a trainer.
Fantastic experience: I like the atmosphere of the gym super clean and the equipment is always free. Vibhu is a great coach, super helpful and really informative.
Negative experience: i’ve never written a review before but felt I needed to let the trainer Vibhu know the effect of my experience with him that made me cancel my entire membership. As an eighteen year old girl, when I signed up for a membership I joked about how i needed to learn how to use the machines. The manger told me i’ll get a complementary personal training session with my membership and signed me up for one. I went into it with my workout clothes thinking I was gonna get a brief overview of the machines, which actually was a sit down session with the personal trainer and apparent manager Vibhu, attempting to humiliate pressure me into buying sessions with him. He started by asking me questions about my diet and current workout plan (which obviously just getting my membership I didn’t have one) and then later used those responses as a pressuring tactic against me. His tone switched when I denied being able to afford a $2000 PT yearly contract as a student. He took me to the gym where he made me do a pushup chest to the ground and squats in my tight jeans and told me I need serious help and without his help will see no progress and just injure myself. He used my answers to the diet questions against me continuously bringing up the argument that he doesn’t understand I couldn’t afford it as if I “stop eating fast food” it will equal out.. I said I’ll think about the contract for now, he said “what do you have to think about? Clients will think about it for years and never see progress. You just told me you don’t have a workout plan, so tell me what are you gonna do next time you come in here?! You’re not gonna know what to do.” I told him i’m gonna workout with my sister who is a regular. He continued saying she wasn’t a professional like him and that he lowered the price for me today and it will be more if i wait. When I told him id rather spend more money and know I made the right decision, he asked if I was going to college and said when I go to college i’m gonna want a “better physique” to get a good job. The funniest part is I’m very fit, happy with my body and just got a membership to get more muscle. When he finally let me leave he seemed frustrated like I owed him after explaining this all to me, but I never would’ve agreed to a “complementary training session” if I knew it was about buying anything at all. I didn’t enter that gym again and canceled my entire membership immediately after. Him making me believe I won’t see progress and will hurt myself made me loose all my motivation to workout and his comments on my body made me extremely uncomfortable to ever see him again. I hope this reaches him and he changes his tactics.
Fantastic experience: I had meeting with Vibhu who is the trainer here. He showed me lot of mistakes i have been doing till today and i took an assessment with him which showed me what i was lacking during my workouts. He also taught me the 3 steps of success in muscle gaining. It was superb. I will say it’s must try for anyone.
Fantastic experience: I registered a month ago. I also registered do personal trainer. Vibhu is the manager. He seems like a pretty knowledgeable trainer. I think he will also check my diet plan and health status. This is my first personal training, and I think he has quite a lot of knowledge to solve all the things I didn't know. I look forward to it. I got partner trainer with Marie and I started to regain my health, so I hope I can do well with the goal I wanted with these two trainers.
Positive experience: This is my gym, $55 / month. Machines good, pool, hot tub sauna, bike room, full gymnasium for bb buffs. Nice room for yoga eyc. All classes are free with the membership....that is a huge bonus. Lots of free weights. Good place, friendly staff.
Fantastic experience: Had a meeting with vibhu and he was very informative about nutrition, workouts ect. Taught me quite a few things with just the 1 meeting. Highly recommend seeing vibhu if you need help with anything at all
Negative experience: Just another slimy gym business. I had called in about a year ago and requested that my membership would be cancelled. I also made a payment over the phone. I was told my membership was cancelled. I figured everything was good, but throughout the year I was continuously charged, and the naming convention of the charge was exactly the same as my student loan charges so I figured it was a student loan administration fee. Once my student loan charges completed and this charge continued, I realized that LA fitness had been charging me for months. When I went in to ask about this, I was told that even though I hadn't set foot I'm the gym for over 10 months that there was nothing they could do. It's a subscription based model. So I've been paying for nothing for over 10 months, I was lead to believe my subscription was cancelled over the phone, and they can't do anything about it. Of course they took no notes of the phone call where my membership would have been cancelled, it benefits them not to. What can the customer do. Just another slimy gym business.

When I initially signed up, I encountered a lack of clarity regarding their cancellation policy. While I understand the importance of reading contracts thoroughly, essential information like this is typically communicated to ensure transparency. The freeze policy also presented challenges. Freezing was only allowed on the sign-up anniversary, while reactivation had no such restriction. This imbalance doesn't feel fair to members and favors the company. Additionally, an unexpected annual fee of 60 CAD caught me off guard. Clear communication about such fees upfront is crucial to building trust. Cancelling membership should be straightforward, but the limited "manager hours" and reliance on mailed cancellations felt outdated and inconvenient in today's digital age. Despite informing them before my vacation, my membership wasn't cancelled as requested, leading to continued charges. The staff's response, repeatedly stating "That is our policy," lacked understanding and flexibility. I spoke to the manager about not being informed about the cancellation policy and the $60 CAD annual fee. In response, she offered to review the contract with me to prove that I was mistaken. I want to clarify that I wasn't denying the information in the contract; rather, I was pointing out that I hadn't been told about it when signing up. The manager seemed to imply that this information is always mentioned during sign-up, which made me feel like she was calling me a liar. In conclusion, my interactions with LA Fitness left me disappointed. I hope my feedback encourages them to consider more transparent policies and customer-friendly practices. Trust and respect for customers' needs should be the foundation of any service-oriented business.
Positive experience: I like the gym and the facilities, it’s good for the price. I just wish they had a better class schedule. PLEASE add a weeknight yoga and weekend aquafit
Negative experience: I’ve been going to La fitness for a while. I’ve never had an issues with staff they are all very friendly except the girl that was working at the desk today around 2pm long black hair and glasses. She’s very rude discriminator towards my and my partner.
Negative experience: Latest visit a staff member sort of made fun of me? I couldn't tell what they were getting at, they just said "oh wow, look at this guy" and I have no idea what that was about. Pretty unwelcome and unprofessional either way, it came out of nowhere and I was in a rush to get my workout in so I didn't engage more. Facility is dirty and unkept. The pool and the system around it definitely needs more TLC: - Broken tiles on the side have tape covering them. - Brown, dirty surfaces underwater and elsewhere. - Chair assdist is extremely corroded and is a health & safety hazard. - No lifeguard means nobody enforcing the "clean before you swim" rule. Many people go straight to the pool without showering, some of them after lifting weights. - In use for a kid's swimming school for huge amounts of time making it harder to fit in a swim, especially after work during the week. - The times kids are using the pool is only clearly laid out in person at the front desk, not on the site or online schedules. I'm attaching a picture do others don't get disappointed going and finding out it's full of kids. - Clocks got replaced with silly, tiny digital clocks that are difficult to see from within the pool. Pretty disappointing for the price paid for this facility.
Fantastic experience: I got the first informative session with trainer Vibhu at the LA Fitness calgary Trail location. His way of explaining was amazing. I prefer his training sessions to others and going to start mine soon. Cheers
Negative experience: LA Fitness is a disappointment. Their gym equipment is outdated and poorly maintained, making workouts frustrating and ineffective. Trying to cancel my membership was a nightmare; they conveniently ignored my requests and continued charging me. Their lack of customer service and refusal to accommodate members is appalling. Avoid at all costs!

Positive experience: My first experience at the Gym was good the staff was friendly and the Gym is overall very clean - however, the pool is poorly maintained. After my friend and I went in for a 25MIN lap swim my skin felt so dry and itchy. I think the Gym should really change how they mange the pool and use less chlorine. I will return to use the equipment but never the pool again
Negative experience: I never leave 1 star reviews but LA fitness has a predatory system that doesn’t allow you to cancel your membership unless you come in before 5pm (which most working people cannot do). And they know this, they do it purposely so that it’s hard to cancel. This is just a bad faith practice so buyer beware. Gyms are so competitive and there are genuinely good people out there who you can do business with, if LAF are ok with screwing you over when you need to cancel then where else are they being shady?
Negative experience: Horrible business model and terrible customer service: - cannot cancel after 9-5 business hours. People usually go to the gym after work so I guess they are trying to force us to stay in through administrative tactics - they initially forced me to pay the first and last month. Now that I’m leaving, they are telling me that I can’t get my last month after all. (Stealing?) No not sign up, go to GoodLife instead.
Fantastic experience: This Gym has everything you could want! They have a basketball court, pool, sauna, and a dance studio! Change rooms are large and very clean. The staff are really friendly and patient with new comers!
Negative experience: I called to cancel my membership, they told me come inperson to cancel, then I went at 7 pm on a 24 hr gym and they told me to come back between 9-5, then I went on Saturday at 3pm and they told me to come back on a weekday, then finally on my 3rd inperson they canceled my membership! So brace yourself, once you wanna cancel and leave they will try their best to keep you!
Fantastic experience: Always clean or see workers keeping it clean. Since Covid they decreased the range and frequency of group classes but hey...it beats nothing. Wonderful place with consistent layout, equipment and energy from New York to Canada locations...they are a definitive brand that says "come in... relax knowing you are provided a grand space to workout as much or as little as you see fit with no judgment. "
Negative experience: On April 10th, I visited LA Fitness despite not being a member before and therefore not being familiar with the workout facility. I attempted to try out a membership, but an older gentleman denied my request. It seems that the trial ticket advertised on the LA Fitness website was false.
