Fantastic experience: Really enjoy this good life location. I primarily use the pool, sauna, and hydro pool. The exercise areas also seem great, looking to try out the turf area.

Positive experience: Decent sized gym. Only gripe is that Weightroom equipment/machines are close to each other. During busy times, it makes the place feel extra crowded.

Negative experience: I attended the Yin Yoga class at 6 PM on Thursday, but the experience wasn’t great. The instructor was on her phone the entire time and even started telling jokes about her dog in the middle of the session. It completely ruined the atmosphere.

Positive experience: I’ve been a member here for years - they updated the women’s section which is nice as the equipment was always broken & they seem to have updated most cardio machines. I’ve been going back and fourth whether to make a review for a long time now - My biggest complaint that is getting unbearably frustrating is these personal trainers taking up several machines and space where others are trying to work out. There is a dedicated area for personal training, yet they use the women’s section which is already small with limited space . With one lack of space and using several machines at a time, having their belongings spread out, it really limits others. It’s interesting the trainers seem to have no etiquette & will come within metres of where you are working, almost feels to get you out of the space threat they may need. I feel like this needs to be reviewed & use the dedicated personal training area, as the rest of the public is unable to use that area. The tri pod recording is also another annoyance, people bringing their tri pods during busy hours when others are in the shot, taking up space and people’s comfortability. Besides these issues it is a nice gym, and with the new renovations, and equipment. Hours are good. I do know the issues mentioned really have detoured a few people I know.

Negative experience: honestly, I came to the gym and was very excited to start my fitness journey. I was convinced by Javy to do The personal training session with successions that came up to almost about $300. I had my personal trainer June who is honestly a sweetheart, but all she would do is talk about JB her boyfriend, the manager who works there. Conflict of interest you would think right? I got really sick with pneumonia and bronchitis and I have decided to move back home because I need support to feel well. I asked June if I could get a refund and she told me to contact our manager Kim Jory. Kim said that there was nothing she could do as this was out of her hands and they do not offer refunds. She then also wanted to explain to me that I only had one session left after I was told I had two and then she explained to me that one of my sessions were cancelled and got a late charge to them because I did not show up for it. I never got of call from my trainer saying hey, are you coming into the group into a session today or anything like that? She just decided to cancel my thing which is very upsetting. long story short, I will be disputing the charging with my bank because this is totally unacceptable. I will not be attending those two sessions because I am literally sick and have been hospitalized. This gym does not care about your health or your well-being. They only care about their selves, their money, and clearly the relationship happening behind closed doors.

Negative experience: Family day Monday the gym was supposed to open at 7am. We along with multiple other people waited in our car for an hour until 8am and the gym never opened. I understand that people call in sick but at some point shouldn’t it be managements responsibility to make sure the club opens? Especially when the hours are already altered for a later start. We drive from out of town to attend this gym and this was hugely disappointing from staff and management.

Negative experience: Came to GoodLife to seek information on their prices and other fees. When I asked the front desk I was told to wait. After waiting i was told someone will come out soon. After waiting some more another individual came in and asked the same question to the same person and for some reason they started talking about membership prices etc etc!! So why am I standing there having my time wasted waiting for my questions to be answered when I could’ve been taken care of FIRST!! I said forget this and walked out. Possibly a good move considering I witnessed how I’m treated before signing all their membership agreements. Business taken elsewhere…………….

Fantastic experience: Perfect! The pool is beautiful and largely set with a wading section for new swimmers. The jacuzzi jets are just right! This location has recently renovated and made a recovery room! It is a piece of heaven for me who swims and enjoys the massage chairs in the recovery room. It is my way of living with arthritis; how I wish this gym was closer to my everyday grind. Staff are lovely here and I just love it here ❤️

Fantastic experience: I want to make a shout out to Dawn Oscvirk Parliament and her fun, energetic, challenging workouts!! Ive been going to her classes for many years starting in NF then following her to St. Catharines. Dawn knows all the members in her class and makes a point of chatting it up and making it a more personal experience. She's helpful if you have any questions and challenges you to always do your best!!!!! From beginner to a lifer, you will be in good hands!!!!

Positive experience: Nicest gym in the region by far! Staff is friendly and the gym has a pool, recovery room and they have new additions coming soon! However, if a sauna is one of your main concerns, I recommend staying away from GoodLife! I get chilly in their sauna as it rarely passes 70 degrees due to the glass door design. It is often left inoperable as members try to up the heat by blocking the door cracks with towels. This has been an ongoing issue for years and doubt it will ever get an upgrade. World gym has a far superior sauna that easily reaches 80+ degrees and they have near same weight equipment at a fraction of the price. Apart from that, great place to enjoy a workout!

Fantastic experience: I love my sessions with my personal trainer Rooz, I been training with him for 18 months and I keep on getting stronger and motivated, I compliment my workouts with regular classes. The instructor guide us and encourage us to do our best and push our limits. I worked out with Dawn for 10 years and she has taught me to challenge myself through her teaching. She teaches pump class and Core previous also taught spin . Her voice is friendly vibrant and she is a great example of determination , self confidence .Dawn empowers the class and makes it fun Thank you to all instructors of pump core and spin The gym is clean tidy and organized. Fantastic experience: Amazing gym and great staff! The facilities are always so clean thanks to the Colombian family that is there every single morning. They keep the place spotless but besides from the great job they do work wise, they are the friendliest people and make a 3am workout all the better. Jimmy is always cheering me on which motivates me to lift heavier. 10/10 both as cleaning professionals and human beings!

Positive experience: Overall, my experience has been really good. I love the gym itself, it's clean everyone is friendly. However, I do not recommend booking with their personal trainers. Please think extremely carefully before booking with Kari. If you want to be pushed past your limits and that's what you're going for great good for you, kudos. I have 0 fitness goal, i do not want a rock hard body. I go to the gym for mental health. When i explained to Kari that I have no fitness goal, that my only goal is to come to the gym consistently everyday. Whether that's to actually workout or to just to use the fun stuff, hot sauna, jacuzzi, the pool, etc. I explained to Kari that I have really bad knees, i hurt them earlier that week, Doing the stairmaster. After a 45 minute conversation about how i'm not athletic, i don't want to be athletic, i wouldn't mind knowing how to use some of the machines properly. She then took me over to training area, had me do 2 sets of 12. For every exercise. That included : lunges, squat, inclined push ups, running on a inclined treadmill. Throwing a 15 lbs ball around. After coming down from the treadmill after a minute in a half. I'm out of breath and trying to take a minute, In this time she jokes about how she made her last client throw up. She explained to me that we should be taking 60 second break in between sets. But would only give me maybe 10. So after working me extremely hard, making jokes about how she made her last one, throw up. Pushing me past my limits. Which before I say what i'm about to say, I understand that a fitness trainer is meant, to sometimes push you beyond what you're capable of. A fitness trainer is someone who shows you how to do workouts, In order to get the body or the results that you would like. My appointment was December 20th. I was immobile and unable to stop crying due to the pain until December 24th I have two small children, it was christmas, i had obligations to make that christmas for my two small children. By christmas I was distraught, i could barely walk up-and-down my stairs, i couldn't sit on the toilet without help. I was completely immobilized. Now I didn't want to make a post because I understand a part of this is just her job... But I did not go in there. Asking for a rock hard body, asking for an extreme workout, asking for unrealistic expectations. My only goal is to go to the gym and be there everyday. On the following monday December 23rd I grounded up as much energy as I could to go and sit in the jacuzzi, and the hot sauna and tried to recover on the massage beds. Which I will say helped so much, i was finally able to stop crying from how much pain I was in. I felt like my christmas was a complete disaster Because I was in so much pain. After talking to many family members, they all expressed that I should be sharing my experience with Kari. Because if she makes jokes about making her last client, throw up. I am not the only person who she is abusing in her position. Personally, i'm gonna take some time to think if I really want to go back to this specific goodlife. There's one over in grimsby I'd be more than willing to drive to. Even though I live on one block away from THIS GYM. AND THIS IS WHY I SIGNED UP FOR THIS GYM. BUT NOW I FEEL USED AND ABUSED. IF YOU'RE GOING TO BOOK WITH A PERSONAL TRAINER A) dont book with Kari. B) you can Google ANYTHING... You don't need someone to push you past your limits. And not let you have the proper break in-between sets and ALSO not let you drink water. If you're just starting out and you're really just trying to get a feel for things. Ask other people at the gym, everyone whom i've had to ask for help has been extremely helpful, extremely friendly and extremely understanding. Or Google it! YouTube has videos! Do not pay to have someone abuse you. I finally am able to walk up and down the stairs today (decemeber 31st) It's taken me almost 2 weeks to recover from one session. Please Keep this in mind when booking for a personal trainer.

Fantastic experience: Personal training. Tom B. Tom is very knowledgeable and able to tailor a program for many situations ie older clients with specific medical histories or a client looking to compete in body building shows. He can cover every need. On a personal note he was a good humoured socially adept individual. The gym itself I found well run clean. The reception staff alway bright and cheery.

However, after spending some time at the gym, I feel compelled to share my concerns regarding several key issues that impact the overall environment and member satisfaction. From maintenance delays to safety hazards, there are areas in dire need of attention. Here’s an overview of the pressing concerns that need to be addressed to enhance the experience for all members. Key Concerns: 1. Maintenance Issues: - Slow response to problems, insufficient follow-up from GM Derek. 2. Wi-Fi Access: - Need for reliable Wi-Fi for members, correlating with premium fees. 3. Safety Concerns: - Urgent repairs needed, hazardous equipment locations, unaddressed broken equipment. 4. Renovation Delays: - Pool renovations nearing two years, obstructed emergency exits, scattered equipment. 5. Negative experience: This gym, specifically Kim the manager for personal training, has refused to cancel and reimburse my father who has a BRAIN TUMOUR for his personal training sessions that he can’t use. On top they want to charge him an additional $179 for “early cancellation”. Does it count as early cancellation when you have an incurable brain tumour??? Since I am not able to respond to the reply “from the owner” let me say I HAVE called that number already and was told there was nothing they could do. In fact the person I spoke with agreed with me that this company is disgusting since they wouldn’t let her help me after she contacted the location.

Negative experience: Not an actual 24/7 Gym, recent closures and holiday hours don’t align with most 24/7 models, and notification of change of hours is only Done on their message “Messageboard” in the gym instead of email notification, which I find personally frustrating. Considering I receive dozens of emails a month, trying to get me to sign up for a personal trainer. On the positive it is a clean facility.

Fantastic experience: Love it there I got my membership there over the summer for free since Im 13 and about 2 weeks ago i got the essential membership the staff are really nice they always greet me when i walk in and one day i was doing improper form on deadlift and one of the staff came over and pointed it out to me and showed me proper form which is so nice the only downside is its pretty expensive but its worth the price there are hot yoga rooms specialized classes the pool personal trainers and a recovery room all in all its very worth it 11/10

Negative experience: They force you to use direct deposit banking, there is no option to use a traditional credit card. They do this to ensure they get paid as long as possible and the cancelation process is as complex as possible. Go to White Oaks instead, this gym is a joke.

Fantastic experience: For my limite living time in St Catharines, GoodLife Fitness and Personal Trainer Aric is most impressive memories for me. Aric is so much professional and not like other coaches that would like you always finish those sessions ASAP and get some more but he always train in a patient way but still in a efficiency way to make you achieve your goal in a better way. I lost my weight 10 kg in one and half months with Aric's help.

Negative experience: overall pretty decent gym. decent quality equipment, amenities and is pretty clean. however it is pretty disappointing when you pay 1000+ annually for a membership when all the personal trainers are using all the equipment and multiple at a time despite having a designated pt sections regular members dont have access to. if we can access their section, they should not be entitled to ours.

Every patron is respectful and all weights are where they should be. I love the sauna and am excited to try out some group classes down the road once I build up some confidence. All in all 10/10

Negative experience: Used to love this gym. Unfortunately the management proves to be scummy in how they approach the business. Whether it’s treating staff poorly (getting staff to do personal errands, having a bad day and taking it out on staff or members) , being non responsive to complaints (i.e. the continuous debacle with the pool or sauna), or more recently, not allowing old staff (in good standing!) to participate in charity events, management continues to prove they don’t care about customer service and appropriate leadership. I have witnessed on multiple occasions management ignoring complaints of male maintenance being in the women’s only section without letting members know (aka if you have any religious or personal reason to work in this area, prepare to be ignored). I continue to be disappointed in the service aspect of this gym, despite it being one of the cleanest corporate gyms in the area. Corporate needs to revisit how Kim specifically approaches conflict, as I have heard many times outside of my own experience how little she seems to care in being professional and courteous to others.

Negative experience: These guys are SCAMMERS ! I had a membership I paused it for a couple months ,they told me if I didn’t use it MY ACCOUNT WOULD BE CANCELLED .So I never bothered going to look at my emails seeing that they said they would cancel my account . I payed for my membership for the full year in advance so l called head office they told me that they can’t do anything about it. SO I LOOSE MY MONEY !! They told me they will ONLY CALL YOU IF OWE THEM MONEY !! WHAT A SCAM . Be VERY careful with these guys !!!

Positive experience: I'm a swimmer and decided on this gym solely for the use of the pool 24/7. It's perfect for someone who does shift work. I cannot comment on the gym equipment. That said, I'd say this is a pool for a leisure lane swimmer more than a swimmer training for anything over 10K. I have two other pools I go to in the region a couple times a week. This is why... For non swimmers, this will make no sense so maybe ask your swimmer friends. For people training for long distances, I'd plan to go elsewhere a couple times a week unless you're like me and have to settle on where you can go during odd hours. The pool is always sudsy and the water is soft and hard to grab. When I say sudsy, I mean literally, sudsy. When I do kick sets, I make a full blown bubblebath. The other thing, every single time I leave this pool, I have a full blown sinusitis episode whereas when I go to Kiwanis or the YMCA, that doesn't happen. I now take allergy medication when I arrive and it's in my shower bag to take immediately after. Whatever chemicals they use don't vibe with my sinuses and definitely don't vibe with my hair. Ladies, fill your hair with oil, water and conditioner before you get in this pool and consider wearing two swim caps instead of one if your head can handle it. Your hair will still die more than any other pool I've ever swam in and don't even think of going in the pool if you have dyed hair. The colour will be stripped out. This pool has both stripped toner from my hair and dyed the natural hair in a single swim. I highly recommend if you have any sort of medical issue, you skip this pool altogether. It's unsupervised and the glass in the one area where people actually see you is frosted. The gym bros aren't going to save you. They can't see you. The people in the front aren't looking. I once went in at 0200 hrs, immediately saw someone laying next to the hot tub, and asked the very friendly staff member when she last looked at the pool because someone was passed out next to the hot tub. She said a while. The guy passed out next to the hot tub after getting light headed and being smart enough to get out. When I went to get in the pool I chatted with him and offered him glucose tabs. He said he was likely there for about 45 minutes. If the glass wasn't frosted, maybe a gym bro would have seen him. I purposely made friends with some gym bros, one whom I don't even like. Both know when I'm in the pool and practicing breath holds or am swimming more than 10K and check on me. If you go after dinner, expect people with no pool etiquette. I don't go at this time before I'm going in for night shift. It's a waste of time. There are parents in the hot tub not supervising their kids in the actual pool and you have random people walking around in the pool directly in front of swimmers as they do lengths. There are also no lane lines and if there are more than 3 people in the pool, you're pretty much out of luck cause people don't know how to share there. That all said, the women's change room is clean, the pool is clean even if for whatever reason the chemicals they use don't jive with me, the facility seems clean and the staff is wicked friendly. Also, if you work shift work, you can go at 0200 when you're coming off of nights and almost no one is there which is why I give this gym 4 stars even with the misgivings mentioned.

Fantastic experience: Updated February 2024: The indoor pool facility is fully open and it looks amazing. Not only does it have a pretty big pool, it also has a big heated pool. There is honestly nothing to fault with this gym anymore. It's perfect. This is by far the best GoodLife gym I've ever been to. I live in Toronto and have been to about five different locations in downtown here and I've also been to one location in Calgary; in terms of the variety of equipment and workout space, and the quality of amenities and the overall space, this gym just does everything right. It has plenty of squat racks, bench presses, pulley stations and a pretty big space for free-weight lifting. The gym is inside sort of like a warehouse space with a high ceiling, which allows for good ventilation; even in summer, this place is kept at a good temperature and it feels good doing cardio here. The staff there seem friendly enough and they do a great job with the upkeep; both the workout area and the changing room are typically clean, even during busy times. The only complaint i have is that they seem to be keeping the pool closed for awhile; I've been there multiple times over a span of four months and the indoor pool was closed every time. They should at least be transparent about when they expect the pool to reopen with the members. Otherwise, this gym is pretty perfect; I'd be happy to pay a premium to go to a gym at this level of quality where I live. I always look forward to working out here whenever I'm staying in St. Catharines and would happily recommend others to check it out too.

Negative experience: Worst gym ever. Specially if you want someone to call you back. It took over a week of calling to finally get a hold of a manager because they kept forgetting to call me back. Absolutely terrible customer service. The gyms facility barely is even fully open to use the hot tub pool it's always down. But we pay full price every month. Embarrassing. Cheaper gyms out there with better service I recommend. Waste of time and money at goodlife!!!!!!! Manager said he was to busy to call me after over a week. I guess he assumes his job is more important than ours. Usually a manager calls a customer back and not have the customer keep calling for over a week no matter how busy

Negative experience: Need to be cleaned more .... Hairs all in the machines shower need to be sanitized and scrubbed daily..like it's never been cleaned ever in the washrooms...urinals are brutal

Positive experience: This is an great goodlife, has lots of equipment and a pool. Only downside it's probably the sauna, it's one of the few in the horseshoe area I been that has so much glass in their sauna so the heat scapes and its not a hot as other ones I been. On the plus side it has a great pool.

Negative experience: Welll this was my home gym for over 7 years and I gotta say how upsetting it is to have to leave. Between the fitness influencers filming 24:7 hogging machines and the judgements from other members (remember judgement free zone, ya this gym isn’t it) Then increasing my bi weekly payments without notice when half the equipment is broken, no towels ever. The only reason I gave a two star is solely to your lovely overnight cleaning lady she is so kind and respectful.

Negative experience: Called for a "tour" apparently it's still a "the absolute minimum" of a half hour of listening to your membership pitch. I recommend just being transparent on your website. Sounds like the typical time share method. So, since I am not willing to subject myself to that, it seems I cannot look at the facility or try it. Quite an antiquated sales model in my opinion. Good luck to you but I'll be taking by buisness elsewhere.

Fantastic experience: Started my workouts here and signed up with a personal trainer. Julia DeRuiter. A level 5 trainer at the St. Catharines Goodlife who went far and beyond to make sure I was on my path to reach my physical goals. She made sure that she listened to what I wanted to achieve. I went for parkour and acrobatics, and if my goals were to ever change, she would ask me from time to time if anything has changed or requested my feedback if there is an area that wasn't working with me, and she made sure she made any changes accordingly. She made sure that I felt accomplished in every session. If I felt anything other than that, she made sure I left that gym crazy sore and tired, which is great when you go through that recovery phase and feel all that hard work she puts you through, and it is very worth it. That is because that's what I asked for. If you ask for something a little lighter or more easier going, she will come up with numerous workout plans to reach that goal, at your own pace. Even if I cannot physically make it to the gym, we get on zoom calls and improvise on the go. The gym might not be around but Julia will always be. She is not only a great trainer but an awesome companion and friend to be around. We not only talk about workouts but also about life, we joke around and she is into changing the names of the workouts to anything funny that comes up during the workouts. We've very silly at times LOL It is also one of the times of day, if I ever have a not so great day, the sessions with her do spark a little light on my day. The day might have sucked but Julia's sessions are a good remedy to get your confidence back and get you back in the game as soon as possible. Word really cannot express how thankful I am for Julia's existence. She continued the work of another trainer I had, and he was amazing. But Julia managed to pick up the pace quick and continued on my journey of that person I want to be in life. Thank you so much for putting me through all the hard work and the good laughs we had. For suresies, I am going to sign up with you again in the near future.

Negative experience: Very expensive. Tried to get my 17 year old to sign a contract for several hundred a month and were very pushy. Tried to get him to sign on the spot. Did the same to my nephew and he could not get out of the unaffordable payments. Would not recommend to anyone

Fantastic experience: Brandon c makes me feel so special at the door and is super motivating and positive at the front desk is a friendly face at the front door, he also came into the rpm class to help pump us up for Sue’s fantastic class, speaking of Sue she is my favourite I have followed her since Niagara Falls and she has motivated me to my goals for the past 15 years, her passion and dedication gives me the best ride and calorie burn I could ever expect, I could not have done this without her

Fantastic experience: I would like to give a huge shout out to Brandon Code! In the last 5 months I have been preparing for a Bodybuilding competition. It hasn't been easy, Brandon has supported me, made me smile, found my keys and has gone out of his way to help me and guide me through the last few months. His smiling face made the tough days better and I was always guaranteed he would make me smile or laugh. Negative experience: This place is awful. Unprofessional management, underpaid and overworked staff, and the quality of the gym equipment is nothing better than you could find in a gym that's half the price and has half the members crowding the weights area, which doesn't even have any dumbbells over 100 lbs. Lol. If you're serious about lifting weights, don't go here.

Fantastic experience: Personal Trainer Julia D It's been only a month that I have had the absolute pleasure of having Julia as my PT at Goodlife St. Kitts. From the onset, I was honestly unsure what this experience would be like. Julia developed a plan not only consistent with my goals, but also corrective and specific to any deficiencies she observed in my mobility, balance and strength. She is extremely knowledgeable about utilizing gym equipment effectively and properly training her clients. Julia has also provided me qualified advice on diet and exercise relative to my goals. Her pinpoint training mandate has already resulted in noticeable results in my physical appearance and well being.... this far faster than I could have ever imagined. Fantastic experience: Cindy’s Group Fitness classes are the best at the gym. She keeps the energy high and is very motivational. She leads by example through her accurate technique to ensure members safety/form. BodyAttack, RPM and Pump/Core are her classes. She is the reason I am back at GoodLife.

Fantastic experience: Awesome gym tanner got me from lifting 30 pounds dumbbell bench max all the way to 60s in both hands. tanner is a great guy and all the staff are very nice. very clean gym

Negative experience: I joined because of the pool being told it would be open within the month It has been a year It is still not open and after reading this I realize this is a scam and that they have been doing this to people for over 2 years They are not trying to work with me or extend my membership so I basically wasted my money and was not provided the service I was promised. I should have listened to all those that have been scammed by GoodLife before.

Fantastic experience: I’ve been training with Roozbeh a few months shy of a year now and he keeps me accountable and kicks my butt. Not only is Rooz great as a trainer but also as a friend. Always remembers important things in your life and especially things that are important to you with your training. He also doesn’t take any of my back talk!

Fantastic experience: Frank’s yoga classes are peace on a mat. He is a supportive instructor who leads you through the process at your pace, with suggestions rather than commands. He is well informed and you learn something new about your body every time you attend his class. Highly recommended.
