Additionally, our unique Black Card membership offers access to exclusive amenities such as hydromassage beds, tanning facilities, and more, making your fitness journey rewarding.
While the majority of our members love the atmosphere and support from our team, some have noted areas for improvement. Feedback includes requests for more weight machines and free weights, as well as suggestions to enhance our operating hours for greater accessibility. Negative experience: I tried to downgrade my membership from black card to the $15 a month as I haven't gone in a while, and they wanted to charge me $50 just to downgrade to use the same gym, when I got my membership I was told I could downgrade at any point in time. They suck you into staying with them and if you want to cancel you have to pay a good fee. Wouldn't recommend going here if you want to change your membership around. No wonder their prices are so cheap. Other than that the gym is pretty clean and sanitary, no steam room which is a bit of a bummer.
Positive experience: Clean but could use more weight machines and less treadmills.

Positive experience: I like the gym. I like the atmosphere and I like MOST of the staff. I just started working out at this gym about a month ago and really like it. The gym is clean, great machines, awesome fitness app to use for great workouts and friendly staff. The only problem I have ever had is with this one staff member named Jay who seems to follow me around the gym. He will intentionally stand right in front of me when I'm in front of the mirror and he stands so close that I could literally stick out my tongue and make contact. He's always giving me long stares and dirty looks and even if I go on a machine long after he's already used it, he will come back to that machine to ask me if I'm almost finished with it. I used to work out at the Edmonton Rec Center for almost a year and I liked it but Planet fitness is better for those who prefer private personal growth (if that makes sense). This is the reason why I switched over to Planet Fitness, but I have no idea what this guy wants with me and he's making my experience at planet fitness quite uncomfortable.
Fantastic experience: Alaina greeted me the moment I walked in the door with a smile. She gave me a tour right away and was extremely knowledgeable on all the different equipment, how they work and explaining on all the different features on the equipment to help you use the equipment. She was very friendly and upbeat and you have a great team member on your hands

Negative experience: South common planet fitness. Drinking water machine is not working. Lisa mananger is so rude .she doesn't even like to reply Almost one week. She is really so bad . Not acceptable her behavior

Fantastic experience: I frequent multiple Planet Fitness but what makes this location memorable is the kind staff that are working there. Last night I was waiting at the front desk for my friend to come into the gym, and I was freezing so the staff at the front brought out a heater while I was waiting. She was super kind and I needed to rave as she made my experience so pleasant. I wish I got her name!

Negative experience: DIRTY FILTHY PLACE Morning staff don’t restock cleaning supplies. Place gets nasty fast. I’d hate to be the next shift, everything is always empty across the facility. Gross. Edit - several weeks later, place remains disgusting. Staff can’t be bothered. Cancelled my membership.

Fantastic experience: It’s a clean gym with plenty of helpful staff. The black card perks are a great spa reward after a session and it’s easy for new gym goers to jump into a set of machines and get a good workout (especially yellow room with light timer). Most novice or intermediate goers won’t care, but there are no free barbells (just smith machine and fixed weight barbells up to 60lbs) and no dumbbells beyond 75lbs. They might need more benches/free weights area and some more room to stretch on mats but there’s always a cardio machine open and you can check their app for how busy they are.

Positive experience: Could use more machines and weight based machines. I feel they have a TON of treadmills etc. overall, it is always clean. Can get busy during peak times.

Fantastic experience: September 2024: Just started coming here in the mornings with a friend. So far I’m enjoying it - lots of machines for cardio, decent amount of strength training. Some machines are used more than others and you may have to wait to use them, but there are others you can use in the mean time. They have a 30 minute circuit in the back for a quick full body workout as well - the machines have timers and a rep count. The change rooms/bathrooms are always clean and maintained, with lots of lockers for your things. The staff here are friendly and helpful as well. The black card is awesome for bringing someone with you, which makes the gym so much more fun! And the ‘spa’ perks are awesome as well! I sometimes go just for the red light or the tanning. It’s all included in the membership! And the best part is - the membership is noncommittal. If you have to cancel your membership or pause it, it’s quite a simple process with no fees! Will update my review after being here for some time and getting to know this gym better.

Negative experience: Scum bags - cancelled my account over a year ago and little did I know they have been charging me this whole time - DO NOT DEAL WITH THESE CROOOKS - They will charge your account after cancelling and will not give you back a dime!!!

Positive experience: This is my second home and I love it here. From the staff to the positive atmosphere. The only issue I have are members' hygene. I've had to stop my workout and go to the other end of the gym because I couldn't breathe. All I ask is that everyone be respectful by showering before going to the gym. Peace and love everyone!

Positive experience: Great place! Very spacious, with lots and lots of cardio equipment, which I live for. The place is well-organized and clean. There are tons of weight machines, though not as many free weights, but it’s more than enough. The staff is very friendly, and the locker rooms are nice and spacious with showers and plenty of room to change. There are only a few things that I didn’t love. It would have been nice if each locker had a keypad so you didn’t have to bring your own lock, but that’s minor. The biggest problem is that the cardio machines don’t have a lot of power, so you can’t go as hard. For instance, the StairMaster maxes out at level 20, which I don’t find very challenging. I find that the elliptical machine and the bikes also max out at relatively easy levels. Overall, I will still be coming here long term.

Positive experience: Gym hours should be 24/7 I think it would improve loyalty from customers but regardless the gym is good it's very busy location seen some people not clean the machines down after use

Negative experience: Gym sucks only has 4 smith machines and a million treadmills. Stuff ate rude and unhelpful. Remember to not wear crocs because apparently they are not closed toed.

Negative experience: ••••STAY AWAY FROM PLANET FITNESS••••MEGAN THE MANAGER IS VERY UNPROFESSIONAL, YOU WILL NEVER EXPECT HELP FROM HER. I am repeatedly disappointed by the lack of customer service at this location. Every interaction yields different information. I have spoken with a sign-up agent, the manager Megan, and others both over the phone and in person. Each one assured me that I could cancel my services before the 17th of the month. However, when I visited on June 14, 2024, an employee informed me that cancellations must be made on or before the 11th. I was surprised and asked why the you and others mentioned the 17th. The employee had no explanation. Everyone makes me sign agreements on a pinpad, where it's hard to read everything. When I spoke to Megan, she insisted that members should read the information. I reminded her that everyone had told me the 17th, but she said it wasn’t possible and that they follow the signed agreement. This inconsistency is unfair, and Megan even hung up on me. She tried to persuade me to continue my membership by offering a discount, but why should I when I don't use it? Megan's behavior is extremely unprofessional and unhelpful. She seems solely focused on money. When I previously tried to downgrade my membership, she wanted to charge a $60 fee, even though Raj, from the sign-up services, had clearly told me there was no fee for downgrading from black to regular. Megan's response to my request to speak to her manager was an auto-reply email, reinforcing the impression that this is a money-grabbing operation. It feels like she expects me to transfer my membership just so someone else can be taken advantage of. Where I have hardly use my membership & that's why I wanted to cancel.

Positive experience: Update: the water bottle machine has constant issues. It's either the filter or fills up slow. It would be nice if they added a water cooler station as well like the White Oaks location. It's ok. Meets my needs. The dumbbells are enough but would be nice if the free rack bars went up to at least 100lbs. Most equipment gets repaired soon. My only complaint is some of the clientele; they have no idea what etiquette is and in the worst cases hygiene. I do miss power racks at GoodLife, but given the prices of other gyms, it's what you have to put with for going to Planet Fitness. South common location is always busy. Never been at the location when it is not busy.

Negative experience: I hope the owner reads this. I came in to have a free trial yesterday (which is advertised online) and was turned away. IF there are exceptions being made in terms of who can and can't try the gym out, I wonder what else might be going on at the cash register. All the best.

Positive experience: Very clean. Friendly staff. Great spa options! They could definitely remove some cardio machines & replace them with more free weight racks. Only about 20% of cardio machines are ever being used at one time. But the free weight area is always crowded

For the small price of this membership I have been very satisfied, no lock in contracts which was a plus for my temporary time spent in Canada, loved the tanning beds, if only there were planet fitnesses in Australia! Positive experience: The planet fitness in south common is a very nice facility and the staff are always very friendly and helpful! The place is always clean and organized! The only issue is there are often a lot of people whom excrete excessive body odours at this facility and it makes it harder to complete work outs. However this is far from the businesses fault! It remains clean and a very nice facility.
Negative experience: What a disgusting facility!!! Management should be embarrassed. (and fired) Cleanliness is clearly not a concern, staff is extremely unfriendly and apparently you can wear your snow and mud covered shoes right into the gym!!!! Absolutely pathetic

Fantastic experience: Wow!! Great service from the moment we walked in the door. Zach was the person helping us sign up. He was very friendly and super easy to deal with, he showed us around the whole place which was very clean and not packed at all and answered all of our questions and concerns. He was also super helpful with the signup process afterwards and patient with us not being super fast on our phones. I’m so happy we signed up and look so forward to utilizing the gym and all that the black card offers ie; tanning (lie down & stand up) , red light therapy, massage chairs and hydrotherapy. Negative experience: What’s with the smell of toxic paint fumes. Being blasted through the entire gym tonight?!?! All the ventilation is jacked to make it even worse. I walked in and instantly started getting a headache. Beyond ridiculous! You can smell it outside before you even step foot inside.The gym shouldn’t even be open. My eyes, throat and nose are burning. This is beyond a safety issue and is also a health issue. People at the front were saying it’s from next door possibly? Call the landlord!!!!

Negative experience: Went to this location on feb 21st after work and although I’ve been here before I have never been so disgusted by the dirt and filth in the men’s locker room. When I say it looked as though it hadn’t been cleaned in weeks it’s no exaggeration. The floors were covered in dirt and wet footprints from people wearing outside shoes in the gym, the lockers were covered in dirt from outside shoes been put in the lockers. The showers were so filthy I couldn’t even bring myself to take a shower after my workout. There was garbage every where on the counters and the floor. When I left I mentioned it to one of the 4 staff members standing at the front counter chatting with friends etc and she said she would try to get someone to clean the locker rooms. As I was changing into my outside shoes I watched at least 20 people walk right in and right to the equipment without even taking their shoes off and the staff said nothing about it. I’m glad this is not my home location but I should still be able to go to another location and have it clean as our membership fees are supposed to go towards cleaning.

Negative experience: This gym is amazing. However - the staff need a 0 star option. Specifically Rahul. Came in last night around 8:30pm. Paper towel dispensers are empty. Staff at the front were on phones. After my workout I went to tan, as I do. When I went to the front it was 10:40pm. Rahul was standing there on his phone for about 3 minutes before he noticed me. I noticed they have a tanning lotion sale for $40. So I asked to buy one and Rahul told me no cuz he “just closed the till” at 10:43pm. 13minutes till the gym closed. When he told me no, he proceeded to sit there and argue with me that he can’t open it, I told him I wanted to talk to a manger. And Rahul told me “we don’t have one here right now” makes a ton of sense with how the staff work. Then I asked him again if he can just open the till. (I worked retail, I’m not dumb, I know all you have to do is reprint the EOD receipt) that’s not my problem the gym is still open so the till should be too. It was about 10:50pm and Rahul finally “opened the till again” and I went on my tanning way.

Negative experience: This location has very unprofessional staff.The Manager Magen is one of the worst managers I across.I have started my membership end of December and I referred one of my friends in January 2024. I supposed to receive free month according to their advertising. I was moving out of province and I decided to discontinue the membership in January.I spoke to the staff several times about cancellation and well the month of February which they have charged me the fee for which is one was supposed to be free month as a referral. I approached to staff three or four times about this issue.They said manager will reach you out and refund you the payment which was charged for the month of Feb. But the Manager (Megan) never reached me out for any solution.They left my account active to be charged for coming months..As I called to location to get update about cancellation and refund.luckily this time I got The Megan Manager on phone call.and I explained her everything from the beginning and asked her that why isn’t she returning the call to the customers who were waiting for managers reply about the account issues..She said that she didn’t receive any complaint about it initially.after few minutes she recognised the issue and started acting like a worst manager who doesn’t want to resolve the issue.I want to give zero star,but I didn’t have the option for zero star..One of the worst locations and staff..Especially The Manager (Megan) worst Manager ever.!!She shouldn’t be manager there if she doesn’t know what to do being a Manager..!! Zero star for this location!!!

Fantastic experience: Best gym on the planet! Seriously! The membership is so convenient and what you get for a small fee is unlike any other gym out there. I love having access to a spa where I can do red light therapy for post workout recovery. I love the tanning and massage. The spa is the reason I go everyday. The workout is what I have to do to earn my spa time. This business model is genius. Well done planet fitness

Negative experience: Very disappointed. I signed up in the beginning of December to try and learn how to work out, but was then laughed at for not knowing how to use the equipment. I decided to cancel my membership 2 days after I signed up, was given my monthly payment back, and was promised my sign up free returned to me. It’s now February and I still have not received my refund. I have been calling and been told I would get a callback with updates from the manager… that never happened.

Negative experience: Update: needs boot tray and enforcement of no outside shoes. Just a mess. Good: -The price and location. -Staff are friendly -massage chair, hydro massage, and tanning bed. Not So Good: -Limited operating hours especially on the weekend. -Small change room with really small lockers and not enough of them. -Very small free weight area -Dirty floors. Everyone walks in with their outside shoes -Gym clientele. Nobody has gym etiquette and nobody wipes down machines. People just hang out at the machines. -Guest access. Seems like everyone brings a free guest which makes the gym really busy.

Negative experience: Got a email saying I rated it a 9-10 a 6am on Nov 8. nope sure didn't, so I will leave a review now. Not the biggest fan of this gym its set up awkwardly. When I was setting up my membership what a massive pain. Then he screwed up and I kept getting calls saying for non payment and call the call centre to fix it. Sure they don't do Canadian banking. For a gym with that many staff on at all times you think they would have things filled and working properly so you could clean the equipment after your done. Not impressed needless to say.

Negative experience: Manager on was not overly kind about me trying a workout in the last 30 minutes, nor was he willing to allow my fiancé to assist me (and not workout) as a means of seeing if it’d work for us. The attitude was off-putting. Not enough machines for anyone wanting a proper workout besides cardio. Disappointed.

Fantastic experience: The membership price is the best you can find in the South End of the city. The amenities were all brand new (showers, lockers, water machines) and in Great condition. All the equipment is brand new as well. My only complaint is everything is purple... but... for the value on investment, it's very small issue.

Fantastic experience: I love this gym! It has a very chill atmosphere with a million and one things to do. The staff are friendly and helpful, and I always feel good when I come in and when I leave. Great workout experience! They were upfront about all the costs and fees. Of which there aren’t many, it is super affordable. I love that I can bring a guest with me, and the tanning beds plus massage chairs. Awesome stuff!

Negative experience: It’s decent for the price though they don’t tell you about the annual fee until AFTER you sign up and it’s in taken out of your bank account already, so beware of that. Water station has been broken for 3 months, pretty dusty all over the counters, paper towels are always empty. If you’re ok with that then this gym is fine and has the equipment you need.

Negative experience: Scammers. First told me there is no annual fee and then deducted fee. And even paid sign up fee. I was specifically told that there is not goin to be any annual fee and i called them right away and asked. And they replied. Its in an agreement. But why wasn’t it mentioned at the time. Cancelling today right after. Can’t cope up with lying

Positive experience: Decent gym, usually pretty clean, but gets pretty crowded sometimes. Sometimes there will be some equipment that's out of service or the single water dispenser/fountain will be down. But otherwise it's pretty okay for the price you pay. Change room has some interesting odours from time to time, but that's normal. Also functional should have mirrors to watch form

Positive experience: Thank you, Blake, for making my trial visit an excellent experience! I tested the elliptical, the rowing machine, and the stationary bike. All equipment was in excellent condition. I think it is newer than most other gyms. The hydro massage machine was a great massage, actually! One year later still training here had a few issues about them not allowing guests to use the hydro massage, which is a bonus of vip members, but otherwise A GRADE overall
