Fantastic experience: Good variety of programming, classes 6 days a week, owners/staff go above and beyond with birthday parties, Nerf blaster nights, tournaments etc. The kids really enjoy it!

He is getting better and better with each class, including his focus. He loves all the instructors and the friends there.

Fantastic experience: My girls (6 & 7) have attended Street Smart Defensive Arts for over a year and we really like the program. As soon as my oldest got her yellow belt her self-confidence grew immediately and she became much more enthusiastic about learning her katas and practicing. The Sensei’s (instructors) are firm, but fair and don’t put up with any fooling around. We’ve already recommended them to friends.

I really enjoy going and go 4 or 5 nights a week because it's so fun. The instructors are helpful and walk you through things but still make it a challenge. I really like them a lot. Fantastic experience: We have recently rejoined this karate club and are so happy to be back. All the instructors are excellent. They set positive expectations for the participants. I frequently find myself saying "would you act this way in the dojo" and see an immediate change in behavior. The skills and life lessons they learn in class are easily applied outside of the dojo. We've seen a positive change in attitude, drive, and overall behavior. Due health issues within our family we are extremely cautious in regards to covid. We are impressed with the covid protocols in place within the facility and the instructors are respectful of individual decisions regarding masking. Overall we highly recommend Street Smart Karate. The prices are reasonable and what you get out of the classes makes it highly worth the investment.

Fantastic experience: My daughter loves it! I've struggled to find something that she really enjoys for a sport over the years and she really loves her classes here. Renshi Todd and Sempei Sarah are great teachers and the class times are very convenient for my work schedule. Also, I like how there is a separate seating area for parents to watch the classes over a TV. I can still be there to see how well she is doing without distracting her.

Fantastic experience: Our son has been attending for several years now and my wife and I will both attest to the positive ways this dojo and the community there have influenced his fitness, confidence, patience, and sense of responsibility. The instructors and the other students all foster a respectful environment where working hard to achieve your goals and having fun is encouraged with a positive attitude. I'll also compliment them on their resilience and flexibility through the pandemic, always being agile and offering lots of different options for online classes, outdoor classes, class signups online as lockdown and capacity restrictions have varied. They really do a great job to keep things engaging despite the challenges.

Fantastic experience: My two kids are currently enrolled in classes with Street Smart Defensive Arts and its been great. My kids went in with no experience at all and have come so far in 1 year, already earning their next level belts. The instructors are very personable and very good at communicating with parents and are great to encourage the children and offer corrections where and when needed. These last few months have been trying and the instructors have stepped it up to make sure the kids don't miss out. Live classes via Facebook and rearranging the dojo so kids can do classes when it is deemed safe. Whether it is in person or on Facebook the kids look forward to their 2 classes a week.

Fantastic experience: Currently my son is doing the 6 week trial and only a few class in we know we join long term. They are firm but far when it comes to discipline with a few push ups I also like that the class is broken up with fun exercises and then more focused learning exercises!!! Can't wait to see how far my son goes!!

Fantastic experience: This might sound silly, but Ive already noticed a very inactive child with ADHD become very active and attentive after ONLY ONE class. He really enjoys the setup, the staff, and his peers that he is learning with. He missed a class yesterday and all he wanted to do was practice what hes already been shown.

Fantastic experience: I love this place. My son trained at another dojo that was not even in the same league as this one. The owner Renshi Todd really cares about all his students and it shows after every class is over. He communicates with the students and the parents so we are all aware of the stages my son is at and what is needed to grade for his next level. There is a viewing room where we can watch the students train, he provides coffee for the parents. I could go on about how superior this place is. Everyone is welcome and I highly recommend it for everyone. The benefits of learning karate are so much more than just self defense. My son has learnt respect, how to interact with adults and the confidence level has really helped with his schooling. He can concentrate on his schooling and not the bullies around him

Fantastic experience: I took my son here to give karate a try. Renshi Todd was wonderful from the moment we walked in. He made my son feel welcome and has encourage him every session. My son was surprised at how nice everybody is and how welcome they make him feel in class. We have completed our 6 week trial and have signed up to continue with weekly classes. Fantastic experience: I was looking for something to put my 7 yr old grandson in to build his self confidence and to be more vocal as he is a very shy boy. Discovered SREET SMART DEFENSIVE ARTS and touched base with Renshi Todd. He was very helpful with my questions and also very patient with me. We decided to do the trial, which took six weeks. I enjoy watching my grandson and I have noticed quite a difference in him just in that amount of time. I asked him if he wanted to continue and he said yes as he likes going, so we have joined the program and are looking forward to all that he can and will learn from Renshi Todd. Fantastic experience: My daughter has been a member for 3 years. What I truly love about this club is that there are classes every evening and so there is no reason to miss a class. The oshawa location provides a tv to view inside the class and ajax provides chairs to view the class from the back of the gym. We enjoy being a member of this family. My daughter has learned so much and a once timid girl that use get upset at the thoughts of hitting someone or even standing up infront of people is now helping to teacher younger students and her kick/punch/sparring is something I hope she will never have to use outside of the dojo. She is full of confidence and as a parent, I am certain I made the right decision in sending her to Street Smart.

Positive experience: Emma enjoys the programming at this dojo. She learns a variety of techniques (strikes/punches, kata, kali and sparing). Not only does she learn multiple skills to increase her safety, the warm up and skills are taught in a fun and dynamic manner that promote team work.

I remember when she first started and through lots of hard work and encouragement I have had the pleasure of watching her grow to be a stronger more disciplined person. The staff is incredibly helpful and caring and I would recommend these programs to any who would listen. Fantastic experience: I joined a bit over 2 years ago and the journey has been nothing short of amazing. My weight was up, my strength and confidence was down. I had massive amounts of anxieties about being in large groups or malls. Now I can keep up with my 7 year old and not be gasping for breath, I am at the same weight I was when I was 18 years old......but the best part of all, I'm not afraid to go out in public anymore because of what I was given for my "toolbox".

It presents a family-friendly, non-competitive, fun atmosphere for learning new skills. Students learn at their own pace and are encouraged to improve themselves not compete with one another. The staff/instructors are patient, friendly and wonderful with children. Every class offers new skills/drills and is always a positive experience!

Fantastic experience: This place changed my life! The staff here are amazing! I decided to try karate to learn self protection but it was so much more than that. In a short time I developed an increase in confidence, memory, physical stamina, and an overall sense of well-being. Fantastic experience: Have been taking my son for over a year. He loves the whole experience, the classes are very well taught and he has been able to make friends with quite a few other students. Renshi Todd loves teaching karate and it shows, all the instructors have fun with the kids while teaching them very valuable life skills.

Fantastic experience: This martial arts facility is great! The dojo is very clean. Good security measures on the premises to watch the children. The two kids a boy and a girl were having bullying/being bad concerns and it seems each lesson they take the behaviour improves. Also the bullying is stopping pretty quickly. Fantastic experience: Our whole family has been practising at Street Smart Defensive Arts for 3 years. It has been on of the most rewarding things we've done as a family. Everyone one of the 5 of us has benefited from the program. As parents, we've seen an increase in confidence, focus and fitness levels in our kids. For myself I've seen an increase in physical health, confidence and comfort in knowing that, if needed, my family have a better chance at defending themselves when the situation arises. It's an amazing program, that's challenging, fun and focuses on the the student's individual development. I encourage anyone of any age to try it.

Fantastic experience: I have nothing but positive things to say. My son attends 4-5 days a week and is addicted. Karate has completed affected his life from home to school and his everyday interactions. He is more assertive and confident. His teachers and after school club leaders are impressed. The instructors Renshi Todd and Sempai Trish are fantastic with the children. The children are happy and eager to learn in a positive and safe environment. The children are all treated equally regardless of what rank or skill level they have. The children leave happy and come in ready to learn. The dojo is large and welcoming, providing a comfortable parent lounge where you can watch your kid on a TV screen. There is a kitchenette where you can enjoy a self serve cup of coffee. I only Wish there was hot chocolate too! Over all we have been to other dojos and this one is the only one that has met our needs and my son has really enjoyed it and come out of his shell. This is the only place we will go to and recommend for Karate. Once you go you know. The instructors are really what make the difference and here you couldn't ask for better ones. They enjoy working with children and it shows. Courtice Karate Club is the only club for us!

Fantastic experience: My son who is 7 years old, has been in many extra curricular activities, but this is the only one he has actually cared about. I see so much character development already and he has been there 2 months!. He looks forward to class and practices at home, so he can earn strips. I am very happy with the decision to sign him up for this class.

Fantastic experience: When we joined our daughter up last year, it was to allow her to spend some time with a friend who had joined the Courtice club. My husband had always wanted to get the kids involved in karate but the stories I had heard from how he was treated in karate made me hesitant. From the first class I realized that Sensei Todd has the perfect mix of being firm with the kids but still expecting the kids to ACT like kids, to be relaxed and have fun. Since then not only have we signed up our 9 year old daughter but our 5 year old son and then our 12 year old son. All 3 of them, despite being of different ages and ability levels, all love Sensei Todd's classes and look forward to each and every karate class. Todd does an amazing job with the kids and always works to help them improve, working with their individual strengths and what goals we have set out! He also has extremely fair pricing which anyone with more than one child can certainly appreciate! I couldn't imagine my kids with a better instructor than him! I would highly recommend any of his 3 locations to anyone looking for a program for adults or children of any age.

Fantastic experience: The Street Smart Defensive Arts Summer Camp was voted the #1 summer camp by my two kids this past summer. Tons of activities, loads of fun and best of all they came home exhausted.
