My husband’s second home

Positive experience: Decent little gym with enough of everything to get a good workout in. The people are always friendly. My only beefs are that 1) it seems impossible to call and get a human, and 2) they don't update google or their website with their holiday hours.

Positive experience: It’s way cleaner than Terwillegar Even though for the past eight years that hot tub still has sand in it. Update Dec 15/24 Still has a little bit of sand in hotub, but not as much as use to. Still needs a thorough cleaning grime surrounds the upper part, especially around the filters

Fantastic experience: Day camps here are incredible and I highly recommend them. Well organized and engaging programming with great leaders who are excellent with kids. My kids loved all of it.

Negative experience: **BEWARE OF SUMMER CAMPS IF YOU HAVE YOUNG KIDS Escalations need to be treated seriously when one child hits another. We have been coming to camps for years & have never been in a scenario where counselors did not appear to have a good handle on the dynamics between kids. It’s completely ridiculous that my child is hit in the face unprovoked, then I receive a call that she was likely part of the problem, that she is friends with this other child - when instead she has been anxious about going to camp this week because of this other child. Train your counselors to understand child guidance procedures appropriately per age group. Kids playing beside each other at younger ages does NOT mean they are friends. You are not ensuring a safe space for my child in your care.

Fantastic experience: Best workout experience in the whole universe. Mason helped me so much and was a game changer to working out. This man deserves a raise for his exceptional help :)

Negative experience: First time visit to this pool space. It was busy with kids summer swimming lessons. I was advised there were two swim lanes open. There was only one which was constantly held up by young adults in the middle of the lane which made it difficult to swim freely. I found myself patrolling the area and had to ask staff to intervene. They were young themselves and did not maintain control over it as a “swim” lane instead of a stand and socialize lane. I ended up leaving annoyed and disappointed in my failed attempt of a workout. I will be scoping out other pools to swim next time.

Fantastic experience: My daughter was in the Explorers camp and absolutely loved it! They were able to adjust the schedule due to the heat wave. Her camp councillor Jasper was truly amazing!

Positive experience: Great gym for basic fitness training. Friendly, helpful staff. Only issue to me is the heat. The William Lutsky YMCA is a non profit organization so I don't expect luxury, but it is VERY hot.

Negative experience: This place is not user friendly, I asked for a day pass for the pool. I was informed that if I was not a plus member with a membership I could t use all the amenities at the same time. I could use the hot tub, only one lane opened in pool and I was not allowed to use the steam room since am not a exclusive member. First time here, never been met with such confusing ways of doing things. I'll just gladly visit terwilliger rec and just do what I want.

Negative experience: We have been going here from 4 months because our 6 years old daughter joined the swimming classes,and after the class is done she loves to go to the hot tub like every other child,and today we were told that she is not allowed hot tub anymore..like after 3 months? And thats i get it but the thing really piss me of is that the staff member( female) was. Really rude to my daughter. She goes like “you are 6,get out of the water” like this is how is your service and this is how you treat a kid? No smile,no courtesy, and we me and wife were standing there and we were very disappointed by the staff behaviour. You guys doing wonderful job to keep everything good but some staff members mostly teenagers feel like they control everything and they don’t have any knowledge of how to deal with kids.

Fantastic experience: The staff are so friendly and helpful. I messed a swim lesson and they took my kid anyway and made the change in the system. They are always so accommodating and if they can't they do their best and leave you smiling. My family loves this Y!!!

Fantastic experience: The strength training class run by Damian on Mondays from 6-650pm is a excellent workout and he is very supportive and encouraging.

Negative experience: It’s not bad, equipment is nice and all but there’s not enough of it. Was good up until last few weeks now it’s crammed with highschoolers from 3-6 and it’s impossible to find a bench

Fantastic experience: My daughter thoroughly enjoyed the swim classes offered here. The instructor was very friendly and helped my daughter overcome some of her fears with swimming. The staff was also very professional when there was a biohazard in the main pool. They evacuated and got everyone clean in a quick and efficient manner. Have signed up for more lessons in the future

Fantastic experience: We are truly enjoying our new membership at the William Lutsky Y. What I truly love is that we are able to work out with our kids: 9 and 15 yrs. unlike the City Rec Centres where kids under 12 yrs. are not allowed in the gym. The staff are friendly, the facility is always clean and they have lots of varied gym equipment. Moreover the Y membership is affordable and they now have flexibility where you can put your membership on hold for up to 6 months or cancel without much fanfare. The only downside so far is that the Y closes early at 7 pm which is going to change in Mar. So, pluses all around. The Y is truly an inviting health spot for families. Thanks Y for helping our family to be healthy in 2024!

Positive experience: The fact 5”the facility has a pool,a hot tub,a gym floor,a track,and windows all around for natural light make this the best atmosphere to train in imo.

Negative experience: Tried the plus membership here, unfortunately it's always so busy with my schedule I was never able to use anything, could only have access to showers!!!! Very bad considering they charge 100 bucks byweecky! Step up your game ymca seems like smaller gyms are better. My advise, if you work a 9 to 5 this is definitely not the place for you!! Very Very disappointed and thats being nice!

Negative experience: Have called several times over the last few days and no one ever picks up the phone? Wanted to know if the pool is open for public swimming or if they have classes taking place this week.

Negative experience: Decent facility, too bad the administration doesn't match. Pretty much impossible to get accurate information from staff, including when their programs are running, which can equate to showing up to classes that have been cancelled.

Negative experience: We went there to have fun with my Daughter, she is 2 years old and in a little bit we were asking to not use the pool because people have private lessons and only the hot tub is available. They did not say they when we went in . It was hard to convince my daughter to leve . I can’t believe this happened . I know Im never going back there .

Negative experience: The location is great, and the staff are friendly. However, the management is quite frustrating. I decided to cancel my membership the day before it was supposed to end, but to my dismay, they still charged me for two weeks the day after. When I called to address this issue, the person on the phone assured me that they would refund the money to my credit card. After waiting for half a month with no resolution, I called again. This time, a different staff member informed me that memberships needed to be canceled 7 days in advance, a detail that was never communicated to me when I initially signed up in person. If I had known about this policy, I could have either continued using the facilities for the next two days or taken timely action. Unfortunately, she mentioned she couldn't do anything beyond offering a credit on my card for future use. It's a disappointing experience to have to bear the consequences of someone else's mistake.

Fantastic experience: Atmosphere, the staff are nice, and I’m not only paying just for the gym.

Positive experience: Aquafit three times a week has kept me mobile while waiting for a knee replacement and it’s lots of fun. I’ve also enjoyed the cycle class, the chair yoga, abs the seated exercise classes. The only reason this isn’t a five star rating is because some of the water equipment needs replacing.

Fantastic experience: Summer Day Camps: Staff were very friendly and interested in teaching the kids. Drop off and pick up was organized and quick. Activities seemed also well organized but not very rigid. My son had a blast and was looking forward to each day.

Fantastic experience: Since my daughter join the summer camp she get so confident and so independent. Everyday she learns new things and enjoy the camp a lot.

Fantastic experience: No complaints, I personally have enjoyed going to the Y and will continue, there are many options to go to the gym, do workout classes, yoga classes, swimming, private sauna and hot tub for women and men. I highly HIGHLY, recommend!

Fantastic experience: The YMCA Day Camps are so good! My kids love them, come home exhausted at the end of the day, and learn new skills! We've done a few camps two years in a row and will be back again next year for sure!

Negative experience: ZERO Customer service!!!!!!!! Lady with maybe an English/irish accent of some kind? Is incredibly rude, has no idea what customer service means. Refused to actually help with my registration questions, asked to put me on hold and I asked her to ensure I'm not forgotten about and if she could check in every few minutes to ensure. 20 minutes later, no check-in, cut me off when I called back and tried to speak with her again.

Positive experience: Wish there wasn't so much chlorine in the big pool. My boy comes home with red eyes crying of the burn. We've tried Google's and thoroughly washing especially when he gets home. Still not enough. I wish he could have a better experience.

Fantastic experience: My child has been to sports class, arts class and been to childminding regularly.. she’s been having wonderful experience with the programs and staff overall. The staff are very caring, respectful and offer a welcoming environment. We as a family feel very comfortable there.

Positive experience: I come here because the theft is relatively low compared to other rec centers. Today boils my blood. I put my coffee mug on top of the water cooler and by the time I got to the car realized I forgot it. 3 min max. I hope whoever has it enjoys the cold sore that is coming your way.

Positive experience: Large number of groups accommodating in the locker room after swimming classes together is a burst out moment.please do take some necessary steps.Otherwise,the facility is good and staff are helpful.

Positive experience: The weight room floor needs to be swept better/more often. Lots of hair on the ground. Makes ground workouts like Push-ups gross to preform.

Negative experience: The facility itself is OK and usually not very busy, but it could use some updating as it's looking a little rough / dated in some areas. Lifeguards in the pool are often not very attentive, often too lazy to walk around the pool. In general most of the staff here are very friendly and try to be helpful. Biggest issue is when it comes to payment and membership policies everybody there tells you a different story and if there is any issue none of the front desk clerks can sort out anything on their own, everything is passed on to the supervisor Demera who is just plain rude and has zero customer service skills whatsoever. I thought the Y is supposed to be all about being helpful, caring, belonging etc. LOL. Right from the start of the membership I was told different things and every 2 week billing statement amount was incorrect and had to be corrected for 4 periods. Then, when account was to be put on hold for a period they screwed that up too and account became expired, though Demera had no interest in what happened with that at all. Then when I wanted to reinstate the account and extend the hold they would not do it unless I gave them a credit card number on file (so they could continue to bill me incorrectly directly!) even though I had remaining days already paid for. Their online account website is archaic and lots of glitches. For a "non-profit" place, pretty expensive, higher than more up to date better facilities such as the City rec centres. Only reason went here was because it was a convenient location. I recommend save yourself the headaches and go elsewhere where they're more organized and better managed.

Fantastic experience: During my Last Year of Senior HighSchool in LYCairns, on my FinalTime in Miss Melanie Meheden's Program in 2012/2013, We came to the YMCA that day on Wednesday November 21st 2012, just before the Holidays went on in December of 2012, We Had a Tour in the YMCA, also after the tour we got to play with sports Equipment. At the End of the Field Trip to the YMCA, I took my Bus 44 CenturyPark/45 Southgate home to my old Apartment at Southwood arms at the end of the FieldTrip.

Positive experience: Great gym, friendly staff, lots of space and I love the open large windows. The only thing I wish is there was a vending machine for tampons in the womens washroom and a womens barbell (35lb barbell) most gyms I’ve been to have one and I am very small/short and it’s hard for me to lift the standard ones out of their storage and move it around.

Positive experience: I have been a member and volunteer at the YMCA on and off for years. I love the welcoming and non-judgemental atmosphere. The facilities are clean and up to date. Recently the quality of the Adult Group Fitness Classes have gone way down. From my recent experience there were teachers that we're not teaching the proper technique, doing a different number of reps on each side of the body and classes feel like they are thrown together and don't flow. If you're looking to go workout on your own then I would recommend the facilities but for the price of a membership you can get much higher quality fitness classes elsewhere.

Fantastic experience: I have to travel for work to AB and I practice olympic weightlifting. I was thrilled to see lifting platforms and bumper plates at this Y.

Fantastic experience: I've been going here for about 7-ish years, and I've only had a few bad experiences, which were mostly caused by other patrons or just plain misunderstandings. Programs are great, staff is efficient and knows how to do their jobs, really nice atmosphere. All in all, I absolutely adore this place!!!

Fantastic experience: This a great facility. The staff are friendly and helpful. The gym is well maintained and clean. The change rooms are also clean and well spaced out. It seems that people adhere well to the guidelines and are respectful of the gym and its equipment.
