Positive experience: I like this place. I used to love this place. I now only like it. There doesn’t appear to be a cap on membership, which if you own the place is a great thing, if you use the place not so great. The place is busier than it’s ever been (especially during peak hours). What was a 45 minute work out is now 75 minutes. Personal trainers and their “group sessions” create chaos and slow downs when they take place in the main gym area during peak hours. When you sign up they tell you that “we don’t super set here …one piece of equipment at a time”. These rules don’t apply to personal trainers and their clientele. The parking lot is a disaster when there are tennis lessons/squash competitions. There is some good too! The gym is modern, the equipment is relatively new and in good shape. Treadmills are good too. I don’t take classes, or use any other gym amenities but from what I can tell they are well attended. It’s a good gym. It’s clean (although I wouldn’t call the locker room luxurious), good equipment and the clientele are for the most part good. It’s just too damn busy. I still like this place. It’s convenient. Just don’t love it like I used too.

Fantastic experience: It’s expensive, but absolutely worth it! Considering the cost of classes these days, it’s actually great value for the experience you get. I joined a few weeks ago, and I couldn’t be happier with my membership. The facility is outstanding—modern, well-maintained, and equipped with brand-new gear. The classes are fantastic, offering some unique options like aerial yoga that you don’t find everywhere. I’m especially excited for the outdoor pool this summer—it feels like a resort with food and drink service, plus plenty of comfortable lounge and chair options. The boutique classes are on par with the best yoga and spin studios I’ve attended in the past. Overall, it’s been a fantastic experience so far! One last thing, Jacki is my Membership Manager and the total Bomb! She is also a Yoga instructor and awesome at that. Her positive and enthusiastic attitude is absolutely contagious and has made my experience so much better.

Negative experience: Needs a management overhaul. Nov 2024, the place is falling apart. Urinals are broken, hardly any steam in the men's steam room, apparently womens steam room is broken ( again ) TVs that were not functioning in early summer have still not been fixed. Hardly see staff inspecting equipment, cleaning anything ... the club has become very neglected by ownership or management. Not sure what's going on, but the self appointed luxury label is now nonsense. For the premium price, this place no longer cuts it!! I read your response below and if you look closely you can see the pixelation in the pictures of the television, the cracked seats, the broken urinals so I think basically you are a bold face liar and I am a member but I am obviously not using my real name as I don't want my entire family to get kicked out of this club I just wish you would fix things. Good day.

The men's steam room is also in good working order, and although we thought we had the women’s repaired it still requires more work. We conduct several inspections daily to ensure the club is clean and well-maintained. We would be happy to your concerns further. Positive experience: For a premium gym at a premium price, the gym isn’t living up to standards. Equipment is breaking or missing all of the time (GHD machine pad ripped for months, missing carabiners) and the men’s change room is downright grimy (could use a considerable deep clean with gallons of bleach and a significant update).

Regarding the GHD bench, the pad is not ripped but does slip occasionally, which we will adjust. We also checked all machines and found no missing carabiners shortly after receiving your review. Positive experience: Decent club. Cardio area makes one to desire more. The weight room is pretty good! And the staff are pretty friend too. As a member, I really want the management to contemplate the need to extend Saturday hours. At least to 9pm would be more suitable. We pay a lot and the hours are somewhat of a hindrance.

Negative experience: OK facilities, on the tight side. Admin is the biggest issue, very hard to cancel subscription, avoid if possible.

Hi Frederico, thank you for your input. The subscription you actually cancelled was processed without issue, you had a second subscription that you did not cancel. Once you brought that to our attention is was cancelled immediately. We also agreed to and have refunded the monies paid on the second subscription, even though you did not cancel it.

Positive experience: I love this gym! Been coming here for a few years now. Great community of people. But just a heads up if you are wanting to join the gym for the Infrared Sauna .. panels are constantly broken and never seem to get repaired. It is a known issue among members. It has been brought up to staff multiple times but unfortunately it doesn’t get repaired. Just want to share as the infrared is a huge bonus to this gym. Just unfortunate that panels are always broken. Otherwise it’s an amazing gym!

Fantastic experience: Love this place! This is one club that offers the most number and variety of group classes in Calgary that I know of. The club can accommodate members with classes and training for different levels of fitness and age groups… fast and fiery, paced and strong, slow and gentle. I favour the Women Only area for my own workout. Studio 40 is my sanctuary, my breathing room. The atmosphere and mood of yoga classes becomes a good place for me to calm myself and wind down. Negative experience: After 25 years of using this gym ( with a few different owners and names) I am sad to say we are leaving on a disappointing note. Recently I went to the gym after a month vacation to find my locker emptied of all my personal belongings ( I have paid an extra monthly rental fee for this service for years). There was a note indicating my belongings ( work out clothes- including undergarments- yoga mat and towel all my make up and toiletries etc) were moved to the lost and found for a week and would be donated if not claimed by the end of the week. I inquired at the front desk and was told they were moved because I wasn’t paying for my locker, she checked my account and confirmed I was in fact paying for my locker, there were no missed payments- it appears to have been a clerical error in their part… she then directed me to root around for my things in the lost and found ( not exactly where I would like my personal belongings to be stored!) in the end I found most of my things but am still missing one contact lens and my favourite Lululemon water bottle. I was told they would send an email to the manager … but they were sorry but couldn’t do anything for me… after not hearing anything, I called to speak to Trevor the manager mentioned but was told he was busy and they would give him a message. Still nothing… to make matters worse a locker charge just got posted to my credit card- the usual practice of paying one more billing cycle after cancellation…so month two of paying for a service i don’t have! I understand mistakes happen but I would expect an ounce of customer service from the so called manager Trevor. Their error and I’m out a contact lens and a water bottle! ********************************************* What a disappointing response riddled with so many half truths ( like “you changed your locker and we had no knowledge”-absolutely not true-how would I get the combination for the built in lock if you didn’t give it to me?! Or your items were never in the lost in found- (see photo) note left in locker said explicitly that my belongings would be placed in lost and found, then employee unlocked the door where lost and found was kept and told me to look around)in any event, I won’t waste anymore time arguing in public. I have done 4 google ratings in my life 3 are 5 star- this is the only negative review I have ever left, as I prefer to engage in meaningful conversation rather than keyboard banter. All I asked was a call or in person discussion. I was contacted by email after the first google review and I responded with my phone number-still no call… just this ridiculous response. There was no genuine interest in apologizing for their error- I was completely ignored until a public review. The gym is great-our adult children have many happy memories of summers in that pool learning to swim as toddlers… but the customer service is lacking. Instead of spending time trying to discount my experience and shirk your responsibilities here in this forum with falsehoods, just respond to your customers in the first place rather than reactively in a public forum.

Shannon, first off we’d like to thank for your patronage, having been a member since Sept of 2021. As far as your situation we are sorry that your time here ended the way it did, but it looks like a misunderstanding more then anything. You moved your contents from the locker originally rented, to a different location, and we had no record of that. When doing our locker clean up we found contents in a un accounted for locker and removed them. We removed 100% of the contents and secured them. Your belonging were never at any point in lost and found. When you came into cancel your membership and pick up your belongings (after not visiting the club for almost 4 months), you found the locker empty. At that point we provided you all of the contents that were in the locker. There was no water bottle or contact lens in the locker. This all could have been because of a clerical error and if so we apologize, but at no time were your belongings not secured and available to you. ************* Shannon, we have no interest in discussing this further here either. We also prefer face to face conversations to resolve situations such as this, and a call at the least was offered. Your response after offering that was to answer in email format and close with at this time we have lost your respect anyway indicating that essentially a call would serve no real purpose. But with respect to both your review and your response to our response: We had no record of the locker being moved. We are not suggesting this was your fault, merely that is why we removed the belongings. Your belongings were bagged and placed in a secure, locked area that was not exposed in the lost and found area at any time. 100% of your belongings were provided to you when you came in.

Fantastic experience: Love this gym. It feels like a private sports club but for the price of a regular gym. All equipment is brand new and the gym is well maintained. I love how many different group classes they offer. From Arial yoga, spin classes, Zumba, hot yoga to barre. They have an outdoor pool, offer tennis, squash and even have a golf simulator. Staff is very friendly and the facilities are always clean and welcoming. 10/10 would recommend to anyone.

Positive experience: Thanks for finally changing the upstairs TV off 4 sports monitors. How much Blue Jay's and golf can you watch and it just repeats one channel after the next. Food and Discovery is a nice change up as you don't have to listen to them to understand. Hope you keep the change. News is ok but a lot of monolog.

Fantastic experience: Definitely huge upgrade from what it was before. As a former employee I would recommend this place to anyone that wants to be at a athletic facility with higher standards then most. Adam would be the one I would recommend to see to get a valued membership to your liking. And with summer coming, to hey have a outdoor heated pool. (And a golf simulator indoor) The chiropractic clinic is amazing as well and I would recommend Dr.Mah. Restaurant is also good definitely check that out at your own leisure.

Negative experience: Clean and great place for workout and I would always recommend this gym until couple weeks ago I realized my membership was auto-renewal and charged on my credit card on bi-weekly basis. Last year, I purchased a full year membership and paid whole year service in advice instead of bi-weekly auto charge as I wanted to give a full year try and then decide if I would like to stay with this gym after a year. The sales person whom I dealt with at that time was fully aware about my plan, and agree with that. However, after the full year is ending, without receiving any notice or updates, my membership was auto-renewal. I understand, there was possibly some communication misunderstanding, so I called and also went to the gym and try to talk with the general manager IN PERSON about it. VERY DISAPPOINTED, after 3 times trying, he never call me back; or email me back nor see me. No respect to a client about a simple request, very bad taste at the end.

Hi Ada, thank you for the positive feedback. In regards to your review, we are sorry for the possible misunderstanding when you bought your membership, but to be honest that is why we use contracts. The General Manager did send you an email on the 6th of June, with a copy of your contract and the process for cancelling memberships, and although we did not receive a response to the email, we see you have since cancelled and therefore won’t be billed again. Again we apologize for any misunderstanding.

Fantastic experience: I ABSOLUTELY LOVE THIS GYM! I workout nearly every day and each time I walk up to the gym, I think about how wonderful of a place it has been for my partner and I. They offer a variety of workout classes with amazing trainers and all of the reception staff have been super kind, friendly, and helpful. They have all the equipment you would ever need for a killer workout AND a beautiful pool/restaurant that I plan to live at all summer lol. I am so glad we chose this establishment as our new gym!

Fantastic experience: Great atmosphere, the machines are on point and the equipment is clean. I especially enjoy the push down tricep machine. The dumbbells go to 125 and the lower weight dumbbells have enough spacing between sizes to allow for progressive overloading. I would recommend that the gym be fitted with more plates for the machines. It can be difficult to find the denomination of weights required to do a tradition 5 to 10 pount step down.

Positive experience: Great facilities and trainers, make sure you give yourself ample time to shower before closing because they will come in the change room and yell at your to get out of the shower at 6:01 . I 100% agree with the comment below and I had lost track of time in the sauna, however “speaking loudly” and shouting sarcastic comments are very different things. Another woman in the change room came up to me after as she felt bad. This is not my first issue with the customer service here. If you would like to discuss further please feel free to reach out.

In regards to the comments , “give yourself ample time to shower before closing because they will come in the change room and yell at your to get out of the shower at 6:01 …” . The club closes at 6:00 pm on Saturday and Sunday so a reminder of that fact when you are still in the shower at 6:01 PM seems appropriate. Talking loudly would be necessary so you can hear, as you were in the shower.

Fantastic experience: I’m an extremely picky person when it comes to my gyms considering i stayed loyal to one of the gyms in my home town. Then after moving over to a different gym due to me having to move. I tried to cancel with them multiple times because i didn’t like their staff or facilities or their equipment, they kept charging me after i canceled my membership. Knowing this i am very picky with my gyms. I have been looking for ever for a new gym till i found this local private gym, I decided to check this one out instead of those ill kept commercial gyms. I was greeted by very kind reception then they followed up with a tour of their facility. The tour was given by Shannon who was more than just kind but she was did her best to meet and accommodate to every thing i mentioned (which she did.) Saying she is very kind is the very least thing you can say. The facility and equipment are phenomenal and kept very clean. The amount of offers and promos they have are amazing as well. Such a nice gym, great staff and amazing equipment I absolutely love this gym. Decided to register on the spot that day. Thank you to the staff and thank you to Shannon for that great tour!

Fantastic experience: I’ve been coming to this gym for a while but the class I took yesterday is what pushed me to finally leave a review! I did the 3C KB workout with Scott and it was my favourite class I’ve done so far. Scott paid so much attention to everyone in the room to help with form. I was at the very back but he still saw I was struggling since my back was sore and he came to show me an alternative form that didn’t hurt. He continued to check in for the rest of the class. I felt very supported and I would recommend everyone try this class.

Positive experience: I love this gym for its cleanliness and great equipment! The classes are great as well. I have been coming here for over a year but recently I’ve noticed the front desk staff are not as friendly. Some of the female staff act like it’s a chore to check you in so I don’t feel as welcomed as I used to. They may be burnt out but a smile goes a long way with client service. I also wish the weekend hours were longer, even till 7 pm would make a huge difference with balancing my kids commitments. But other than that it is a wonderful facility!

Negative experience: I never write reviews and I did not want to write this one, but I have never experienced anything like this or been treated so terribly. Also the fact when I attempted to express my concerns to the manager it didn’t seem to be taken seriously and they all appeared to be laughing which compelled me. I am a frequent customer at the restaurant and today I received a phone call and was having a personal discussion so I went down the stairs at the front in search of somewhere private to talk. This women who I was told is named “mia” came at me extremely aggressively and rudely and in a very unprofessional manner. She then asked asked whether I was a member to which I replied no. She said I couldn’t be there if I was not a member and to leave the premises to which I was shocked by. Like okay if only members allowed in that area all you have to do is say it politely, why would you make someone leave because of that when I’m a paying customer at the restaurant and have all of my things there. There was no way for me to know I was not allowed down there no signs or anything. I went to the bathroom in the restaurant hoping to continue my conversation there. She followed me into the bathroom and said that only members were allowed in the bathroom and I informed her I was a customer at the restaurant and had never had any problem using the bathroom there before. And she told me I still wasn’t allowed to use the bathroom that is was very exclusive or whatever and she kept going off and saying I was “suspicious” and that “I had to leave” she didn’t seem to believe I was a customer at the restaurant and even made me show her my table and she tried to force me out. Her behaviour was extremely crazy and inappropriate and bizarre. I have never been treated like that I have never been called suspicious or asked to leave anywhere ever. It feels extremely discriminatory. I tried addressing this with the manager but he became defensive and no one seemd to take it seriously and even seemed to laugh. He dosent seem to care that his employees are treating customers this way. No one should be discriminated against whether it was how I may have looked that day or my being a person of colour , etc.she needs to be reprimanded at the very least. She never even apologized. Not to mention she ruined what was meant to be a nice conversation with a friend but she didn’t care about loudly and aggressively interrupting me and didnt have manners or common courtesy. * I also want to add I was not reluctant to leave I said okay and went upstairs with her immediately and went to the bathroom instead but she followed me there and basically tried forcing me out the front entrance even though I was not finished at the restaurant and had my meal and all of my belongings there. The fact that she refused to believe I was a customer at the restaurant despite my many repeated attempts to inform her and clarify and her trying to usher me out underscores the presence of her unconscious bias.

Once again we are going to apologize for your experience. Having said that, you did in fact wonder out of the restaurant into a private area. Our staff member simply asked you if you were a member and indicated you were not allowed in that area. You also appeared somewhat disoriented, which was concerning. You would not have been asked to leave unless you were reluctant to move from the private area, which you were. You were not followed into the bathroom, but you were checked on as at that time the club staff was not aware of the fact you were a patron of the restaurant. In your discussion with the manager, at no point was he or anyone else “laughing” that is simply untrue. You stated your opinion on what happened, you were listened to, and we apologized for your experience and stated again and again that non members are not allowed in the gym area. At that point you indicted you were being targeted and felt discriminated against, and we assured you that was not the case that we would ask any random person to leave the private club area. Manners and common courtesy were extened to you at every point.

Fantastic experience: I find that the instructors and trainers are properly qualified and they are absolutely excellent. The facility is wonderful, staff very friendly and helpful and I feel I get very good value for my monthly fee. The choice of classes and times is phenomenal - I especially love the yoga and core fitness studios. Restaurant onsite as well as outdoor pool and saunas - there's no other club like it in the city that is so affordable for the quality and variety of the offerings.

Negative experience: Update: I met with the GM on Feb 13, 2024 to discuss the events below and I brought the friend that was involved. I told the GM our intention was to make sure this kind of experience did not happen to anyone else. He said he would try and get our money back but regardless he would be in touch. It's currently April 9 and I have not heard from him since. March 19, I got a call from the facility. Can't remember her title but she was quite nice. She said she would discuss the GM failing to respond to me. But I haven't heard anything about that. Initial Review: I bought the 5 for $25 pass but before being able to use the pass, you need to go in for an orientation. That's fine, I just felt the interactions before and during the orientation were unprofessional and inappropriate. An employee contacted me to set up the orientation date. I asked if we could schedule the orientation with my friend who bought the same pass. The employee said okay, we booked a tentative date and I confirmed with my friend. It didn't work and my friend and I picked a new date and I texted the employee to let him know the new date. I later found out that no one confirmed with my friend that I knew him, if he was okay with the time, or even to welcome him, which is a safety hazard and unprofessional. I was also annoyed that when picking the new time, the only day that worked for all of us was Tuesday. Which was fine, the employee asked us to cater to his schedule which was 9-5:30. It was a little tough, but we made it work. The annoying part was this employee wasn't the one showing us around. Before the orientation, my friend picked me up and on his way over he said something along the lines of "it's okay, we have plenty of time to get there for 5:30" I then told him, our appointment was for 5, but he checked and his email said 5:30 pm. Why were we scheduled for different times when I asked to do the orientation together? At 5:15 I get a text asking if I'm close. So I responded by saying we were going to show up at 5:30 because that's the time my friend was told. During the showing, it felt like the person showing us around wanted us to apologize for the confusion with passive remarks such as "I'm not sure how to structure this when I normally have so much more time" and kept repeating she would have showed us more but because of the time crunch we couldn't really. Which didn't make sense to me if we got into the building at 5:35, because the parking was so bad and the appointments were generally 30 minutes.

Negative experience: I came here a couple months ago to explore the gyms around the city and the person working suggested I do the 5 for 25$ offer which I did. I used it twice the first week and came back a month later to use it a couple more times just to be told that the offer expires within a month and I have to pay 30$ to drop in. Now that’s completely fine if the person who initially enrolled me into the offer explained that it expired within 30 days but when I asked at the time he didn’t mention it at all, he said I can come whenever despite me explaining that I spend a lot of time out of town. Drove 30 minutes in a snow storm to come here tonight for the staff to tell me that my offer expired when they could have just told me that when I first signed up.

Sami, we are sorry for your experience. We can’t find you in our system, so its difficult to fully address your situation. We do explain to everyone who purchases introductory offers, the terms and conditions and in this case the 30 day expiry. Its also clearly indicated on the receipt of purchase. We also understand that sometimes there are misunderstandings, which of course is why all documentation clearly explains our offers. This particular offer is to enable guests an opportunity to try the club out, to look at becoming a member. We certainly could have reviewed memberships when you came in , and can still do so if you are interested.

Positive experience: Lots of different classes and equipment, that’s really nice! but when something is damage or need repair they take lots of time to do it, sometimes months and that’s not fair

Fantastic experience: It was just how I remembered it, except with some upgrades I like the new open area for the free rates where the machines used to be when Edgemont Athletic was formerly World Health Edgemont. I also appreciate that they mainly kept everything the same about amenities. I may get a membership here even though I live out of town. I would at least be able to go there once a week, but it would be worth the cost.

Negative experience: I had an extremely disappointing experience at Edgemont Athletic, which I feel compelled to share. The staff, particularly a representative named Dustin, displayed a lack of basic courtesy and professionalism. Initially, my wife and I were interested in their Black Friday offers and visited the gym for a consultation. Although we liked the gold plan, I was hesitant to commit immediately due to a potential job opportunity in New York. On Boxing Day, I reached out again to discuss membership, and Dustin agreed to meet at 11:45 am. However, upon my punctual arrival, Dustin was nowhere to be found. Despite waiting for over 30 minutes and inquiring with the receptionist (possibly named Melissa), Dustin appeared only after attending to another group, with no apology for the delay. His dismissive attitude and the receptionist's unhelpful response left me frustrated. I requested to speak with a manager but was denied access. Ultimately, I chose to join Goodlife Fitness instead, where I found the staff to be courteous and even received a better deal. I strongly recommend Goodlife or any other gym over Edgemont Athletic. This experience has reinforced the importance of self-respect and making choices that align with one's dignity.

Hello Pedram, in addressing your review its important to state that there are usually 2 sides to a story, and that is the case here. What is accurate is that the consultant you had an appointment with was detained, and you did in fact have to wait 30 minutes. For that I apologize, the purpose of an appointment is to prevent things like that happening. As much as we try, sometimes its gets hectic and a wait is unavoidable. Having said that everyone you talked to including both the consultant and receptionist did apologize, in fact more then once and offered to assist you as best they could. The Manager was unavailable at the time which is of course different than being denied access. It was actually your behaviour that terminated the visit – as you were only interested in discussing the tardiness. . You are correct, that experiences such as this reinforce the importance of self respect and making choices that align with dignity. We wish you well in your fitness journey wherever it takes you.

Fantastic experience: This is a beautiful gym with great equipment and a fun assortment of classes. I love their approach to fitness education; I learned more in 30 minutes with Mario about my different skeletal and muscular structure than I have in 36 years with doctors or physiotherapists. His experience and knowledge is a huge asset to the gym. Marisa as a personal trainer has been incredible to work with and so much fun. I'm looking forward to my progress with them!

Negative experience: Hi - my name is Pat - I just wanted to say that I have been a proud member of the Edgemont club for 12 straight years, and I never have had such a bad luck experience as most recently.! I went on Holidays for just one week and I was informed that I could put my membership on hold while I’m away on Holidays, I did announce to one prominent employee member who works at the Club that I was leaving on Nov 21 and returning Nov 28 /23 and that I would bring proof of my travel documents to show to him upon my return ,( for the simple fact that he wasn’t around when I was there and because I didn’t have them with me at the time before leaving to show him). He further told me it should be no problem as long as I had proof. Well when I returned back from Holidays with proof in my hand (travel documents) He further mentioned to me that the club cannot honour the week I was away. Because proof has to be shown before leaving…..Can you believe that?? I think that the club has its priorities twisted around and should re-consider what has happened.. that is the reason for the 1star.

Of course, there are two sides to most stories including this one, but we are still sorry you feel the way you do. Freezes are straightforward, as the “prominent” staff member explained to you: First proof is not required for freezes under 6 weeks. Second freezes need to be done in advance, Third there is form to fill out (as your account is being adjusted) Fourth minimum freeze time is 2 weeks. Negative experience: I love this facility, but I would avoid the personal training they call group training. My trainer planned not to work there after the end of November but left abruptly last week. I showed up to our session last week and was told (after walking around looking for him) that he wasn't working there anymore. They offered another trainer to step in for the session, but I wasn't interested in another trainer. They used one of the "passes" even though I wasn't trained by anyone that day. They didn't ask me how I would like to proceed or even inform me that he was gone. Their policy is to charge for two weeks after you cancel a training package, which I did when my trainer told me he was leaving at the end of the month. After I showed up and found out he no longer worked there, I contacted the club and asked for a refund due to these unfortunate circumstances. The personal training manager told me my contract was with the club and that I could book another trainer to use up the rest of my sessions. It's not a solution that I'm interested in. I liked the personality of the trainer I picked, but I don't see a point in finding someone new for a couple of sessions. Other than the personal training, I like the club very much.

Hi Meagan, thank you for the kind words about the facility. In regard to the personal training experience, we’d be happy to have an in-person conversation about this if you like. In the meantime, it looks like there are a couple of misunderstandings: We offer private one on one sessions , partner sessions ( 1 trainer to 2 clients) and team training (1 trainer to 3-6 clients). Members are free to choose the service that best suits their needs. It appears as though you chose team training. If you were accustomed to “finding your trainer” in the facility I apologize for that. All trainers should be meeting at the personal training to start a session. Personal training sessions can be purchased as you use them or in your case with an auto pay for convenience. All changes to accounts including the PT auto pay do require 15 days notice, again if the trainer did not explain that I apologize. Personal Training as you indicate is not refundable, again something the personal trainer should have explained. Sessions are transferred for a variety of reasons, such as when a trainer goes on holidays, or as in this case when a trainer chooses to abruptly leave. Regardless your sessions remain on your account and can be used at a later date. The session you were charged for but didn’t use has been put back on your account, along with a complementary personal fitness consultation to find the right fit for a new trainer. Again its our preference to discuss this in person at the club, and if you would like to do so, please let me know by emailing [email protected] and we can set a time up.

Negative experience: Staff at this gym have 0 empathy. Injured my ankle at this facility because they had wet floors. and nobody mops them, a huge hazard. As a result of the injury, I couldn't walk for 6 months, huge negative impact on my life. Staff would not issue a refund or an extension of my membership by even a week. (I had to pay the full membership even though I literally used the gym twice before the injury). Beyond that, no understanding or care whatsoever, the least they could do is refer me to some resources for this injury, considering I would not have had this injury if they did the due diligence of mopping their wet floors. Ridiculous.

Negative experience: I paid for a 5 for $25, and when I arrived for 2nd workout, they claimed I only got a drop in, and because I had dropped in, I was no longer eligible for 5 workout deal. Won't be back to this insanely overpriced gym. Beware of false advertising and make sure there's a record of what you pay for.

Hi Mark, we have several introductory offers for people to try the club before buying a membership. You have a history of many of these, including but not limited to drop-in fees. We offer introductory pass such as the 5 visit for $25 to first time visitors, residents of Calgary, and people over the age of 16. You are not a first-time visitor (having visited the club many times) which the staff member you interacted with explained and is why you purchased a drop-in fee. Since this was not your first drop in fee we aren’t sure how a misunderstanding occurred but we do apologize for it, and would like to reiterate that a clear record of what you purchased is provided.

Negative experience: Wait until you cancel your month to month membership with them following the instructions they provide and they start charging you again after months later. keep your eye on your CC statements. Trying to get refunded after they take your money is like getting your teeth pulled

Negative experience: The general manager is very rude. I don’t know who made him a GM. He doesn’t care about the members. I went to his office and he did not even bother to help me. Zero customer service. This gym very expensive compare to others. I will never come back.

Fantastic experience: I had a wonderful first experience today at Edgemont Athletic! I was quickly greeted by a lovely girl at the front desk. I was then given a tour of the entire facility from Adam who was super friendly and knowledgeable about everything the facility has to offer. The facility is absolutely beautiful and has so many different amenities. The gym has brand new state of the art equipment and everything is extremely clean and organized. Negative experience: Their computer system is flawed,as the rules,four members can book a court for two consecutive hours for playing doubles,but many times there are no such courts,for example,court #1 is available at 3pm and court #2 can be booked at 4pm,so the members had to book two singles court for playing doubles. The club has never solved the problem of the computer system,instead,it sent staffs into the court that the members paid to rent ,stoped the members from playing,and drove the members away loudly. It’s hard to believe this is happening in Canada!

Fantastic experience: I’ve been going to Edgemont Athletic since October of 2022. The front desk staff is always amazing and the space is big and gorgeous. The ladies section is a must for me however the big gym has the best equipment. The spin classes are just as good as YYC Cycle (you have to go to Theresa’s classes as she’s the bomb and knows how to keep you in the zone). Overall, the amenities, people and the space is so much more then you can ask for!

Negative experience: It is a nice facility but nose up and rude staff. I purchased 5x25 promo sessions in feb, never had a chance to use them. Did not know they are valid just for 30 days. Today, my sister/my mom and I intended to get the promo tickets for rest of my family (including dad and wife) and mOREOVER, sign up for membership for whole family. we intended to sign up for package and use it for 2 weeks and activate the family membership 2 weeks later. I talked with Adam. Although ppl in front desk told me you can reactivate your tickets with manager approval. Adam said: “no no no (three times). Managers do not let it happen, sorry you lost it. i do remember you and i remember that i told you about 30 days validation. This is what it is” Maybe he did told me, but i did not remember. Fact was i paid 25 bocks, did not use it, intended to purchase membership of +250$ per month. I am SURE a good management shall not lose that deal just for 25$!!! And that type of rude and impolite talk with customers! Anyway, this is the is their facility and how they run it … i WILL NOT USE THIS FACILITY with this type of customer relation in SOGNUP day!

MJ, sorry for your experience. You are correct we have intro offers at very low rates to give people who need it the chance to try the facility. You are also correct that Adam did explain how the offer works and that it expires in 30 days. It is unfortunate that you view it as rude when your request for an exception is denied. If you’d like to visit the club again we’d be happy to discuss all the available options available to you and your family.

Fantastic experience: Honestly one of the best gyms I’ve ever been to. Equipment is 10/10, amenities are unreal, tons of group classes plus Tennis, Squash and a pool?! Can’t recommend enough.

Fantastic experience: I joined this gym last summer and it has been a great choice not only for my own fitness but for my whole family. I love the classes and ladies area as well as the opportunity to bring my kids for a swim or dinner at selia! Highly recommend it.

Negative experience: great gym but pricing isn't really accommodating for folks out of town

Hi Steven, thank you for the feedback. As you are a member we are sure you can appreciate the benefits of membership and that Edgemont Athletic is a member’s club. As such drop in visits are not our priority but we do offer guest fees which allows members to periodically host guests. (Current guest fee is $15). Offering lower rates than that is not appropriate for our members.

Negative experience: "I purchased a two-year membership from this place a few months ago and initially, I was impressed with the facility and the quality of the classes. However, my opinion quickly changed when I faced some challenges. Unfortunately, I fell ill and needed to pause my membership for a month due to my doctor's recommendation. To my disappointment, they insisted on handling the pause request in person and were unable to accommodate my situation over the phone. As I was unable to visit the facility at that time, I reluctantly paid for that month without being able to utilize the membership. Later on, I needed to cancel my membership for personal reasons, but to my surprise, they charged me a $100 fee. I assumed that this would be the end of it, only to discover that they continued to charge my card for an additional two weeks after I had already canceled. I made numerous attempts to contact them, but they never answered my calls, which further raised my concerns about their business practices. It's disappointing to encounter a place with so many rules that end up costing customers money, while also keeping them unaware of ongoing charges. This experience has left me feeling skeptical and uneasy about their operations. I hope my review serves as a cautionary tale for others considering their services."

Hello M, thank you for your feedback. In response, first off we are sorry you were unable to use the club, and do offer freeze/pause options for select memberships when that happens. It’s a courtesy policy we have to work with our members, for different situations, That being said we do request 15 days notice to make such changes and those changes need to be in writing. We do not accept any changes over the phone to members accounts. Your membership was frozen as requested. As you state in your review you purchased a 2 year membership, and at time of purchase we explain how cancellation works when in term. Rather than have you pay the balance of the contract, we do offer (on select memberships) an early exit fee of $99 plus gst. Cancellation requires 15 days written notice, which you provided, and there usually will be one last billing, which is what happened in your case. You of course have access to the facility during that time. Hard to explain how we didn’t answer your calls unless you were calling when we weren’t open. All documents you filled out, including but not limited to your initial membership contract, freeze and cancellation forms were emailed to you, with contact information to the staff member that assisted you. We are assuming we have the correct person based on your circumstance, timing and Name you are using for the review, but if you’d like to provide us with more specific contact information we’d be happy to review your account to ensure everything was processed as it was agreed upon.

Fantastic experience: I have been a member for about 30 years and I can say this gym has always been exceptional but now it is at a new level. The staff are all fantastic. The renovations are incredible and the vibe is terrific. Everything you could ask for. Don’t hesitate get healthy at by far the best gym and more in Calgary.
