Melcor YMCA at Crowfoot

Fantastic experience: Bright & High Energy atmosphere! Conveniently located adjacent communities within walking, rollerblading, or bicycling distance. Happy customer since `97, when in adolescence, a 20 minute bike ride from Edgemont was a convenient way to warm up before daily workouts. Staff are knowledgeable and friendly, the pool is salt water and open for public swim, and the members plus area features steam shower plus toiletries such as cream, deodorant, and hair gel. Less intimidating atmosphere compared to other NW Calgary gyms. There are always personable personal trainers on staff that are available free of charge to answer questions about your fitness goals, equipment, or technique. Personal favorite features of the gym is the running lanes that encompass the workout machine weights area. Two thumbs up!

Fantastic experience: We like this location of YMCA, this one is smaller than other locations, but still there is gym, hoops and 2 pools - one for adults and another one for kids. Staff is really friendly, my kids enjoy it being here, and me too :). And yes, it's clean and neat here.

Positive experience: Older facility. But the staff is friendly and they keep it pretty clean. Gym had some newer equipment and the options are decent. Having the plus service for the hot tub and steam room is a nice option. Just wish it had a sauna.

Fantastic experience: I moved to Calgary and the Y became the gym myself and my roommates all go to. We're all super happy with the place. It's clean. Friendly staff. Lots of equipment. The pool is nice. For everything you get, the cost is a no brainer.

Fantastic experience: Had some membership issues and no one was able to help us at the Shane Homes Rocky Ridge location. We ended up going to the Crowfoot location to see if anyone could help us there. Nkechi was so helpful and knowledgeable. She was able to get our problem fixed with some of the best customer service skills I’ve ever seen! She was able to help a bunch of customers, other staff members and us without breaking a sweat, all the while keeping up her upbeat and positive attitude. Hands down made our day!

Jasmine at Reception works fast and she always competent. Its is a such joy to be at Melcor YMCA! Thank you guys for your great work! Fantastic experience: My favorite gym in the city, I highly recommend getting the plus membership so you get access to the steam room/sauna and hot tub plus they provide towels, hair gel and lotions etc.

Fantastic experience: The staff at Melcor are the nicest of any YMCA I have ever visited. It may be smaller but worth it because of the great staff and volunteers.

Fantastic experience: I come here for the drop-in fitness classes! Zumba with Rahmi is amazing, and so is the Drums Alive class with Galina. Very inexpensive for a gym membership, and this location has the most fitness classes in the city!

Fantastic experience: Love the plus membership. Less children, less noise, peaceful steamroom and whirlpool, large lockers. Better for adults who appreciate privacy, comfort and peace. Lots of good excercise equipment. On occasion when the steamroom or whirlpool is down for water ever reason, they do offer extra guest passes to compensate. I like that you have some sort of privacy when you’re working out unlike the newer larger Shane Homes facility where everyone can gock at you from above... I hate that. I do, however, prefer the track at the Shane Homes facility... but that’s all I like about it.

Fantastic experience: Always a great place! Been hitting it up lately for the weight room. Alway busy during the times I go but the wait for equipment is never long and the other members are great about sharing or letting you know when they expect to be done - it’s a real positive atmosphere.

Fantastic experience: Not the newest Y facility, but definitely the best maintained. Weight floor is well organized and locker room is clean. Not too busy most days and definitely a family friendly centre.

Fantastic experience: Ive been a customer at this location for 6 years. Havent had any major problems with the facility or staff. The weight room is fairly sizable and equipments is adequate. Although I recommend attending either early in the morning or early afternoon as the evenings get quite packed with people trying to squeeze after school workouts.

Fantastic experience: I come to the YMCA at least 3 times every week. Staff are always friendly, facility is clean and equipment is well maintained. Giving 5 stars because of the child minding program. The ladies that work there genuinely love kids and are great at their job. They’re patient, knowledgeable and most importantly trustworthy. Ive been bringing my daughter since she was 6 weeks old.(It’s free 3x per week until 18months) Would recommend to any parent that needs a break!

Fantastic experience: We go here for the kids swimming lessons. They have a fantastic adjustable depth teach pool. This depth has been wonderful for the first unparented lessons for my 3 year old as it allows all the children to be engaged and working on the skill together (instead of sitting on the side taking turns with the instructor) - including retrieving a ring off the bottom.

Fantastic experience: HMMMMM. Interesting negative comments. I'm 64 and have been a member of many gyms. The only one I would be able to get a quick uninterrupted workout in during peak times was the one in my back yard. It however, didn't have any friends to talk to, someone to spot me on the bench, it lacked a squat rack and rows of dumbbells. It was damn cold in winter and the lap pool was my tub. Now I'm back at a gym, Crowfoot Y for the last few years. People are friendly and I find the trainers I've chosen helpful always. Staff is helpful and friendly. It is clean and when I can't get on the machine I want the wait is never long, I just change-up my workout a little. No I don't go during peak hours but I wouldn't anywhere else either. At least here if the gym floor is too crowded I can swim almost anytime.

Fantastic experience: Plenty of gym equipment, nice pool. Great place to work out, play a game of basketball, or go for a swim. Has fully equipped shower so you can rinse off the sweat after.
