Anytime Fitness Denman

Fantastic experience: This gym is excellent and in a super convenient location (at least for me). While it’s a bit more expensive than other gyms, it’s absolutely worth it for the clean facilities, equipment for every muscle group, and welcoming atmosphere. Maje and Lucy are fantastic there, they’re always friendly and supportive. Highly recommend this gym to anyone looking for quality and convenience!

Negative experience: This gym is no good anymore, used to be one of the best in this location. Always overcrowded, all equipment is occupied, outdoor space is closed early. Dissatisfied and disappointed. Used to go there since 2020. Changed it.

Positive experience: Wanted to restart gym after covid, but the community gym was still down for renovations, so I signed up for this location. I like the flexibility of 24x7 availability, and prefer later times anyways, no need to rush or watch the clock. Haven't gone back to the community centre, even though it's vastly cheaper. The busy times here vary day to day greatly. Some days 7pm is empty, others it's the busy time. After 10-10:30pm nearly always fine. When it's busy there is a wait for some stations, so you may need to change up your routine. For the size, there is a decent range of weight machines, but not anything too specialized. I think between the machines, freeweights, cable machines (several of those now) and racks and benches, you can improvise anything you need. There is a row of treadmills/stairs/etc, which are surprisingly lightly used (when I'm there), one rowing machine, a couple of stationary bikes, 2 spin bikes, 1 recumbent. 4 full racks, 1 smith rack, 1 curl station. No bench presses, so people will use benches at the rack to bench press, which is very frustrating as they can easily tie up 2-4 pieces of equipment for 1 hour+. People never stick to time limits, no matter how busy it is. There are 3 incline benches, but they're often used at the rack for bench press. So when it's very busy, it can get dicey, but I am always able to get my workout in without more than 10 minute delay. Machines are generally in good repair, and get fixed quickly. Everything is clean, but the AC vents often drip and the bathrooms don't have fans(?) that I can hear, so that's weird. There are no changing rooms, just a row of 5 or 6 individual bathrooms, 2 with showers. The crowd during off-times is pretty chill. No influencer types, and nobody's filming. I've been a couple of times during busy times, and it's definitely more hopping. All in all, the 24x7 aspect is the selling point for me, but if finances get tight, it's probably the first thing to go.

Fantastic experience: Great location, awesome staff, clean and everything you can imagine to get toned up. I'm a huge fan of Anytime Fitness for cleanliness and up to date equipment, this location offers it all. I think the lockers are a great idea. There's also a unique outdoor area to get fresh air and workout. If you're thinking of getting fit, get up now and join, locations everywhere worldwide!

Negative experience: Member of the gym since 2021. The gym used to be my favourite place to spend a couple hours in a week to enjoy my workout. Although I would consider it to be a boutique gym, but it was always clean, well equipped, with super nice and friendly staff, and a great environment due the members. It was all good since things started to change slowly. First, they blocked part of the gym (which is already a small gym) and dedicated it to personal training, causing pressure and overcrowding the rest of the gym. Then the management decided to cut down the office hours. This has resulted a significant limitation on ability of the members to use outdoor areas which are only available to be used during office hours. Most of the calisthenics equipments are outdoor in this gym and not being able to use them is a disappointment for me who loves to use those equipments on regular basis. Here and there, there are days which regular office gets reduced on the already narrow schedule. (Ex: Friday September 30th) Just heads up that, the gym I used to love to work out at is not that great anymore and I’m wondering what would be the next thing that will be taken out of the good things the gym already had.

Fantastic experience: Always clean and not crowded. My favorite part of this gym is their terrace. It gives you opportunity for open-air workouts.

Negative experience: My experience was disappointing I’ve been to too many anytime fitness never got disappointed especially the ones in downtown Vancouver but this one the bathroom was so gross smelling like Pee !not well-maintained or cleaned

Positive experience: General workout gym. Good for basic training, anything more serious I would look somewhere else. 24/7 availability would be the best seller of this gym.

Negative experience: Went to gym for the first time since I got a membership here. But voila, the fob key didn't work. When I tried to tab this fob key on the first day I got, she(one of the staffs) said the system is in process so I believed her and look what happened today.

Fantastic experience: All the staff here are so nice and friendly. Always smiling and greeting clients. I was nervous to start going to the gym but the personal trainers and staff make me feel more comfortable in this place. The gym is very diverse and LGBTQ+ friendly. They also have fun challenges for clients to do and free bananas on Fridays! It’s nice working out here on a sunny day.

Negative experience: What's the point of having a phone number if no one is answering?! I've called 5 times in the past hour. Denman doesn't even offer voice mail? Isn't that a basic service?

Fantastic experience: Great gym! High ceilings always make a good atmosphere and quite spacious enough considering its on the second floor. The tricep machine is great. Otherwise all other exercise machines are great and standard. Very worth checking out, it is a good second best option as Yaletown would still be the first.

Fantastic experience: Anytime on Denman has a chill atmosphere. In my observation, I have not witnessed any pretentious people. In the past three years, I have developed many positive acquaintances and friendships as the crowd is chill and easy to talk to.. The shift that I go to the gym is 9 to 11 PM. At that time, the 7 to 9 crowd is just starting to leave and the place empties out. I have an awesome workout as it is quieter and it’s just the way I like it. I have also checked out other gyms in the area but I never liked the vibes! If anyone is looking for a Chill gym with a Cool crowd then Anytime Denman is the place to be!!!

Fantastic experience: Good-sized space with a wide variety of equipment and machines. There are outdoor areas to stretch or exercise as well. Free lockers for storing stuff during a workout, two restrooms that include private showers, and 24-hour access are all nice touches.

Negative experience: This gym might be the worst gym I’ve ever been do in 15+ years lifting. People come here to socialize, text and tik tok. Staff are pleasant but I have never seen a single rule enforced here. Brutal.

Fantastic experience: I was visiting for a few days and chose to make Anytime Fitness my gym for the time I was in Vancouver. The gym has a good assortment of equipment and it’s very clean. Fantastic experience: I chose this gym as my home gym because the team here was very friendly and welcoming, unlike the other branch I visited. This branch also offers group activities. They are a very friendly and down-to-earth bunch. Before September 2023, I had never set foot in a gym in my life. I was afraid of being judged for my lack of experience and for being seriously unhealthy. But this gym has transformed my physique in just six months. With constant words of encouragement from my trainer Tabassom, quick corrections from another trainer when I work out alone, and a quick word of encouragement between sets from other people on the floor, I've achieved more than I ever imagined. This week I did a 235 lb squat! And I've had to go shopping for new clothes again. This may not mean much to a professional gym-goer, but it's a huge achievement for me, and I couldn't have done it without the help of these amazing people. It's not just the equipment or the information that has brought about such a change, but the culture of constant mentorship and encouragement. I hope this note helps anyone who's considering this gym but is hesitant due to fear of judgement. Don't be afraid to take that first step!

Fantastic experience: Great service. Clean gym. Never too busy. Had all the equipment. Very communicative. The staff made every step of the process seamless and easy. If I had any concerns, they were addressed immediately. I had to cancel my membership due to relocating and that process was so smooth and they didn’t make it hard at all. They also have an awesome app to see how many people are at the gym and really safe when working out after hours. Worth it!

Fantastic experience: This gym is by far the best I've been to. Has some great equipments, is open 24 hours and the coaches are amazing. They have evolt body measurement device which helps you keep track of your body fat and measurements. All in all an amazing workout space

Fantastic experience: Ive been a member of AF for almost 5yrs now and moved from diff countries and cities. AF Denman is now my home gym and this place is amazing - clean, equipment are all well-kept, 2 patios for when you want to enjoy the sun while working out, good AC for those hot summer days, and great friendly staff. It can get busy at times but I never had trouble on waiting for my turn, as long as I avoid the after work hours (4pm to 8pm).

Fantastic experience: Moving to Vancouver I was worried about where I would get my pump on. Fear not anytime fitness denman said! I was able to easily transfer my membership from Ontario. The helpful and fun staff gave me a tour and I fell in love! I would highly recommend this gym. Also they give you free bananas!
