Services, Machines and Guided Classes
Peguis Trail Fitness Centre: Opinions
Positive experience: It not bad, good starter gym. Closed today though. Not super safe due to infinite bumps on the floor, there are warning signs on the walls. Decent amount of machines and dumbells, some machines are out of order often. Sometimes people dont clean after themselves, its better to clean before and after using equipment.
Negative experience: New supervisor won’t let us train with more than two people. We have been going as a group for years and now we have to find another community gym. Super dissatisfied with new manager… do better!
Negative experience: New policy states no training with groups more than 3, my friends and I are no longer allowed to train with each other. Not fair. Our taxes pay for this and we get treated this way. Expect better from our government
Negative experience: Good assortment of equipment and space to use. But the limited hours, poor cleanliness, unhelpful staff, and consistent unexpected closures have impacted my overall experience here. Contrasting the membership price to the gradual disappointment from this facility, I recommend considering other options if you value your fitness experience.
Negative experience: I used to luv this gym till they changed supervisors/workers. We were told that we can't come and work out here as a group of friends even though we pay like everyone else!!!!
Negative experience: Me and my parents train there with lots of friends as a group and at first we were allowed to train there and the staff and supervisor were nice until we came back and now your not allowed to train with friends and the new staff and supervisor were mean. Don't go here♂️
Negative experience: We visited this gym all family members. We came a lot of times and everything was fine. But one day the staff decided that my youngest son could not go to this gym, although everything was fine before. The staff was rude!
Fantastic experience: Membership rates
Fantastic experience: When I was 18 back in 2008; I took aerobics classes at Peguis Trail Fitness Centre.
Fantastic experience: Nice little gym with reasonable price. Ample of weights and machine to use. Has a track for walking/running and some punching bags for boxing/kickboxing.
Fantastic experience: Has all you need for a good workout!
Negative experience: Large, empty but felt like a dungeon
Fantastic experience: Great gym and even better value. If you struggle to find parking, the community center next door is available. I've almost never had to wait to use equipment and the people/staff who go here are incredibly supportive. Group workouts here are also an energetic, encouraging option
Fantastic experience: HIIT kick$ your a$$
Fantastic experience: Excellent
Fantastic experience: Хороший зал как для городского
Positive experience: Love this gym but the guy that wears the bottle of cologne is killing my emphysema if the administration can't stop it ill be going elsewhere
Fantastic experience: Great atmosphere and staff! Has everything you’d need
Positive experience: Maybe not the prettiest of gyms, but it has a nice layout, lots of equipment, and a good selection of activities.
Fantastic experience: Don’t know why anyone would complain about the place. I’m pretty confident I’ve been to more gyms than most people. No nonsense facility with plenty of space and equipment. It’s a hidden gem in the area. If you find real fault with this place you should take a good look in the mirror and ask why
Fantastic experience: Great gym, everything you need. Don't usually have to wait for equipment. Very conveniently located in NK. Sometimes music is too loud though.
Positive experience: Positive: Quality
Fantastic experience: We’re all gonna make it
Fantastic experience: They treated me like their own back in 2016 and I’ve been a member ever since (Randy Bileski boxing club). This place is your key to success.
Positive experience: Great space lotsa equipment. As city run its hard to get thru on phone to find out operating hrs (they shut down often for cleaning COVID related) + ya can't book time so you can't be sure if capacity met any given time of day. It's clean.
Fantastic experience: It's a nice little underground vibe. Check it out, a little hidden gem.
Positive experience: kind of a grungy gym but the rate is cheap and the equipment works.
Positive experience: Wow, what a rustic setting. Talk about a setup that looks and feels like a afterthought. Used the track for speed work...the only reason this place gets 3 stars instead of 1 is because its relatively cheap to use
Fantastic experience: Affordable and it's very good
Negative experience: A dungeon.
Positive experience: good place to workout with friendly staff but needs better aor cooling system. it gets hot down there
Positive experience: good place to workout with friendly staff but needs better aor cooling system. it gets hot down there
Positive experience: nice little gym
Positive experience: Decent place, not too crowded even when busy. Has a track and jacobs ladder as well as lots of other equipment. Cheap drop in price. A little loud because it is in a basement but doesn’t really matter when you’re listening to your own music.
Positive experience: Lots of equipment
Positive experience: Good gym, they've got a track to walk/jog/run; a bunch of elliptical machines, stationary bikes, and treadmills; assorted cable machines; and free weights. Overall it's good.
Fantastic experience: Affordable and it's very good
Negative experience: Pros: Quiet at certain times, lots of space, decent machinery. Cons: Mice, asbestos, dust, mold, sinkholes under the track, and radon testing kits everywhere.
Negative experience: Decent place, very friendly staff, very good selection of machines, good track, they even have a tank sled which is a very nice touch. The only problem is their squat racks are not very good for varying heights and all of their Olympic barbells are horrendous, almost zero knurling and many have no center knurling. Just generic 32mm chinese bars. My biggest and probably only real problem is we are not allowed to bring our own barbells because it is considered a "safety concern", which I don't understand and makes zero sense to me so I don't see myself utilizing the facility for the long term even though it is a five minute walk from where I live. When you're not allowed to use chalk on your back to squat then you as a lifter at the very least need a good barbell with nice sharp center knurling to grip the back and keep you and your shoulders safe while the bar rests on the shelf created by scapular retraction. I like the place a lot but as squats and deadlifts are cornerstones in what I consider good healthy training I can't commit to the place. If they had a few decent barbells like a Rogue Ohio powerbar or a Strongarm Sports powerbar then this would be a five star review and I would have a one year membership not a three month.
Fantastic experience: Love the gym and it's convenient location. I do believe however that all of the dust/exposed travel and likely asbestos insulation on some of the plumbing is probably a health hazard (radon etc). Owell. Yolo.
Fantastic experience: Very large facility. Plenty of equipment so you aren't stuck waiting for machine to become available. Very nice track. Everything you need and then some. Clean facility. You can't beat the price for membership. Membership includes other city facilities. Nice people. Not pretentious. Love coming here.
Positive experience: I really enjoy going to this facility. Nothing snazzy, but they have lots of equipment, lots of space, a track and it never feels overly full even during peak hours. Membership pricing is very good, you can get a pass for this facility only or for all City of Winnipeg facilities (pools etc).
Fantastic experience: Not expensive. Big place with a lot of equipment, running lanes, weights and place for different activities
Positive experience: Not the most visually stunning place, but functional with friendly staff.
