Richcraft Recreation Complex - Kanata

Positive experience: The Richcraft Recreation Complex in Kanata is an average facility overall. It has a good variety of amenities, including the pool, fitness areas, and sports spaces, which makes it convenient for families. The building is generally clean and well-maintained. However, it can get very busy, especially during peak hours, which makes it harder to fully enjoy the facilities. Parking can also be challenging at times. Staff are polite, but the overall experience feels a bit crowded and unorganized when it’s busy. It’s a decent community centre, but there’s definitely room for improvement.

Fantastic experience: Great place, I come to swim and my brother does taekwondo here. Staff are nice and welcoming and there are many things here (badminton, gym, basketball, soccer, volleyball, etc)

Positive experience: Affordable place to workout, no membership required. They could use some equipment upgrades and a larger variety of weight machines. Overall a good experience.

Negative experience: Horribly trained staff. Filthy. Why are city staff stuffing their faces with food, all over the counter, when dealing with the public? Just no real level of customer service.

Fantastic experience: What a pleasant community center with a nice atmosphere, and robust amenities. I particularly like the pool and the gym. Outside is a nice playground for the kids, but it's not the best in the winter. Overall, a very big upgrade from the older community centers in Ottawa.

Positive experience: Gym in cheap, and as close as you get to Morgan's Grant. However the quality isn't great. It appears the equipment hasn't been replaced since the facility opened in 2013. There are no mats under the one of the squat racks, or the bench press (they use an old piece of plywood under part of the bench instead???). Even simple things like labelling where weights go using stickers is non-existent, so weights of all sizes are just strewn all over. There's only a single bench press for the whole space. Overall, for a beginner looking to save money and work out close to their home in South March, you can't get better than this. However, if you're somebody who is looking for quality, this gym really isn't it. If the city would invest a little more money into this facility, I actually believe it could be really great.

Fantastic experience: Amazing place to do fitness such as swimming, sauna, walking , and etc. The staffs and lifeguards are very friendly and nicely. And it's so clean and beautiful looking.

Fantastic experience: Great spot a bit far out of the way but the wife loves to go there and do aqua zumba.

Negative experience: Finding a parking is paAAIN HERE AND ITS SO STUPID

Fantastic experience: Very clean and well taken care of for Covid. Very safe. Great modern facility with lots of room to change. Large family change room. Large gymnasiums and party rooms. Also hosts many kid's camps and birthday parties. Indoor climbing gym.

Fantastic experience: clean and friendly gym room, would be perfect if adding a few more machines like abductor/adductor, prone leg curl, or glute-ham raise

Fantastic experience: The recreation center is conveniently located for residents of Kanata North, offering plenty of parking. The facilities include a swimming pool and multiple courts for basketball, volleyball, and indoor soccer. They also offer birthday party packages at very reasonable prices.

Positive experience: Most of the staff are very friendly, except for this one man that works in the workout gym. He is a bald man that I noticed likes to always negotiate with people if he doesn’t see a wristband on them, until they show him that they have a card pass, OR he always sees what other people are doing and I feel judged. Overall the place is very clean and the receptionists are very kind.

Negative experience: We had a great swim instructor Zac, for our 10month old baby girl, some lady took over and was bragging about getting him fired. Very unprofessional, Zac was doing a great job and getting better every lesson! We miss you Zac, this new lady seems very mean to speak about a collegue this way

Fantastic experience: Easily one of the cleanest pools in the city. No hottub but it's brand new basically

Negative experience: This is my second year of paying monthly membership for the household. A deal breaker for me are group classes, which are less and less for the afternoon, and when they are sometimes are cancelled. For a period I enjoyed going here, but not anymore. Thinking to look in the neighborhood for an alternative. the money we pay no longer justifies their lack of personnel and organization for the afternoon classes.

Fantastic experience: Went to Richcraft today to try out the 1:00 PM Aqua fit class. I'm a senior. I'm overweight. I have disc issues. I'm self-conscious. I knew this type of class would be good got me, but l've been procrastinating. Today, l just went for it. Got on my suit showed up for the class...showed up for myself. The reception staff were friendly (loaned me a padlock). The chane room was spacious and super clean. The water was the perfect temperature. The crowd was friendly. The instructor was fabulous. I found myself running in the water (haven't run for well over a decade). The music was aerobic beat Christmas music. I gravitated to another large lady who was singing along to the music and joined her. I came out happily exhausted. I'll be back...

Negative experience: This place is pure racist. Only the priveledged are welcomed here. First day of swim class for my 1 year old it was all ok to take pictures and was told without asking that I am allowed to take pictures of my child as long as trainers n other children are not in the picture. Which i have 100% respected as i dont care to take pictures of any other person here. Second class n the man comes and tells me i can no longer take pictures or even be around for the sessions. I didnt create any disturbance for the class n he came n spoke so disrespectfully and ruined the class for my child and for us first time parents. He embarassed us in front of all other parents. Worst place to bring your young children because only people welcomed here are priviledged ones. All based on skin color.

Fantastic experience: What a great place to play volleyball! Top quality hardwood floors, tight nets with antennae, 3m high windows, plenty of space around the courts to serve and leave your gear. Decent parking.

Fantastic experience: This is a newish rec complex - pool and gym facilities abound indoors; splash pad, play structure, volleyball courts, skateboard park are nice outside. We've been a few times for kids parties which are also a hit with the gym setup and staffed to help the kids. The activity rooms also have access to a shared full kitchen. What makes me smile here are the fox statues in the entry area. Lots of parking.

Positive experience: The pool itself was clean and well-maintained, with plenty of space for swimming. The water temperature was a bit cold. The staff were friendly and helpful, and I felt safe and secure with the lifeguards on duty. The changing rooms and shower facilities were also clean.

Fantastic experience: Staff are always available and courteous. The facilities are top notch and there is flexibility for start times for the lane swimming. Lifeguards there do very well managing swim etiquette for visitors as well. Staffing limitations may mean that on occasion they keep the sauna closed, fyi. The private showers can get busy fast though.

Fantastic experience: Great facility with a modern look, good amenities in fine shape, and lots of programs and courses. I wish that they'd be more stringent about getting people to take outdoor shoes off around the pool deck, though. It can get dingy and dirty.

Fantastic experience: Wow, what a fantastic place, with great amenities for every age. We used the pools and sauna. For rec swim they even had one fitness lane available... plus I love the thoughtful warmer water for the babies/kids' pool because tired parents of young kids can just stay there, comfortably. For teens, there was the challenge of the diving board, water basketball hoop, and big float toys. Wheelchair pool ramp beautiful! The sauna was big enough to seat 25 people. The life guards were also amazing. There were plenty of them, equipped with life saving gear, and they were all scanning their areas carefully.

Fantastic experience: I highly recommend this facility. The staff are all professional from the office to the swimming team that we have experienced. also I want to especially highlight a member at the swimming team named Abdulla and his colleagues at the swimming team! They did a wonderful job, incredibly professional, attentive, proms, and friendly. They helped making a great experience for the kids and yet parents. a seamless and smooth one. Fantastic experience: Richcraft RC is one of the best facilities of this kind in Ottawa. It is relatively new, well maintained and very well equipped. It has something for everyone, from indoor swimming pools to a fitness and cardio centre, from two full gyms to several community rooms. Outside, there is a very decent artificial turf soccer field, two beach volleyball sand courts, a skateboard park, and a children’s play area with great play structures and an amazing splash pad. The complex backs into the Trillium Woods Park, and there is lots of wildlife around.

Positive experience: Great turf field to play soccer or other games. THe only annoyance is bugs (moskitos are coming by hundreds). Easy and free to park your car too.

Fantastic experience: Great facility. The building is new and modern with a variety of equipment. I went there for swimming. There is a 25m pool and a kids pool. The water is clean and warm. The only drawback is that you need to reserve slots online before coming.
