Negative experience: DO NOT GO TO THIS GYM - THEY DO NOT LET YOU CANCEL EVEN IF YOU MOVE CITIES. Been charging me over 1 year without my permission. After being a loyal customer for a year prior to me moving. I moved cities for work, and spoke with a lady back in April who made cancelling my membership incredibly difficult. However, after many steps, this was confirmed we could cancel it. Recently, I checked my charges, and have been paying $38 biweekly since April after being told my membership was cancelled. Over $500 in unauthorized transactions. I call in to remove my card after realizing this, and the lady on the phone says I need to wait 24 hours. This feels more like a scam than any other gym membership I have been too. I am not even in your city or used this gym once in a full year!! I would like to speak to someone for a resolution and refund immediate.

Negative experience: In the almost 4 years I’ve been here, management has more than doubled membership rates and added in 100s of new memberships. Extremely profit driven gym unfortunately. If you’re at this gym anytime between 5:30 pm to 8:30 pm, good luck finding any available bench or machine without minimum a 10 minute wait. Classes fill up super fast. Only has 1 smith machine. They lack the basics unfortunately. Every day they’re touring new members like clockwork. They just keep selling memberships without any consideration to space.

Negative experience: Nice, clean facility. However I would not recommend getting a membership here as you are paying $50+ biweekly to be shoulder to shoulder with others, especially on weekends. They allowed way too many memberships in this one location and need to put a cap on them to be able to serve for their existing members and allow for a happy environment.

Positive experience: It's been almost a year since I joined this gym just for two years membership. Yes it's expensive but worth the facility. It has everything you need and maintained the cleanliness which is one of the most important for me. So far I enjoying using the women's pool&spa, are my favorite things to do. I'm not quite come often due to my work related. Just recently finished my 3 sessions with personal trainer. To Dylan Kelly, I really appreciated everything you did, thank you so much from advises to cheer me up to help me achieve my goals is a big impact to me.

Fantastic experience: Just started my membership here and I’m loving it! The variety of classes are amazing and the facilities are clean, high end (IR sauna and steam room) and love the perks of towel service with my membership.

Negative experience: Movati Gym: More “No-vati” Than Movati I was gifted a seven-day pass thanks to my wife signing up, and honestly, I think Movati might be the only gym where you come out less relaxed than when you went in. Let’s start with the lockers. They don’t have hooks, so apparently, Movati expects you to practice your squats by picking up your belongings off the floor. Functional fitness, perhaps? The wet and dry areas were so poorly separated that you’re basically walking through a swamp to get anywhere. If you like a challenge, try putting on your gym shoes without getting your socks wet—it’s a whole new sport! The showers were just the cherry on top. Cold water only? Perfect if you’re training for an Arctic expedition, but not so much for the rest of us. Oh, and the steam room—more like a steam closet. I half-expected to find Harry Potter hanging out in there. As for the sauna? Non-functional. I guess “non-functional” is just Movati’s vibe. The gym itself was so crowded, I couldn’t complete my usual workout routine. Forget supersets—I was lucky to find a single free machine! And the towel service? Two towels, max. I needed at least four just to navigate the waterlogged floors without slipping. If Movati’s goal is to test your patience, they’ve succeeded. But as a gym? Hard pass. Save your time, your socks, and join the YMCA plus membership !

Negative experience: I signed up for sessions with this instructor some older blonde lady I believe it was Shandra, hoping to get motivated and improve my fitness, but it was a disappointment. The sessions felt rushed, like they were just trying to get through the hour rather than actually helping me. They didn’t ask about my goals or take the time to explain exercises clearly—half the time, I wasn’t sure if I was doing things correctly. I even got injured because of poor form on one occasion, and their response was, ‘Push through it!’ rather than addressing the problem. I also noticed they seemed more focused on their phone than on me during some sessions, which felt unprofessional. For the price, I expected much more attention and guidance. I ended up canceling my sessions and going elsewhere. Would not recommend.

Fantastic experience: I can’t say enough great things about working with Dylan as my personal trainer. From the moment we first met, he made me feel completely at ease. He took the time to listen to my goals, my concerns, and what I hoped to achieve—something that immediately set him apart. Before meeting Dylan, I honestly never planned on hiring a personal trainer. But his down-to-earth personality, passion for what he does, and deep understanding of fitness made it hard not to give it a try. The plan he put together for me felt like I was heard and wasn't just a copy and paste of previous client it was focused for my body and my lifestyle. He never makes me feel intimidated; instead, he encourages me to push myself at a pace that’s challenging but comfortable. Thanks to him, I’ve found myself actually looking forward to our sessions. I’m excited about the progress I’m making and the confidence I’m gaining, both inside and outside the gym. If you’re on the fence about getting a personal trainer, I couldn’t recommend Dylan more.

Fantastic experience: I have been a member for almost two years and I have always been just taking the group classes (which is great). I started training with PT Dylan Kelly and he helped me clarifying my goals and he was very patient in instructing how to use the weights/equipments properly. I was also surprised to see my in body scan result change in one month :)

Positive experience: The last little while not all of the sanitation stations have been stocked with wipes in the women’s section. I come in around 5 am there is not reason why it is not filled the night before. It is annoying to be using the free weights and have to walk to the machines to get wipes. Please make sure these things are done prior to opening…not trying to tell you what to do but I do believe it is the right thing to do.

Negative experience: I’ve been going to this gym for over a year and really enjoyed the facilities and classes. However, theft has become a serious issue, and it’s hard to feel safe leaving personal items behind. While the gym has a lot of potential, this problem has made me rethink my experience, and I can’t recommend it until this is addressed.

Fantastic experience: Isaac guided me through the signup process and thoroughly explained everything I needed to know. He was incredibly professional and friendly, which is a rare combination these days. Thank you for all your help!

Negative experience: I had a disappointing experience at Movati. I booked an appointment with a personal trainer, excited to start my fitness journey, but to my dismay, the trainer never showed up. After waiting for over 15 minutes, I tried to get some assistance from the staff, but it was as if they were completely oblivious to what was going on. No one seemed to know where he was or offered any useful solutions. It felt like the staff had their heads in the clouds and were uninterested in helping members. This lack of professionalism and responsiveness is unacceptable for a gym that promises to support its clients. I would not recommend this place if you’re looking for reliable training services.

Negative experience: I recently completed an annual membership registration and paid the full amount upfront. Subsequently, I encouraged my pregnant wife to utilize the 7-day free trial. However, when she arrived at the gym, she received a tour but was informed that she could not engage in the trial because she had not checked in with the individual who facilitated my membership sign-up. Although the gym facilities are commendable, I found the customer service and communication to be severely lacking. I am particularly disappointed by the treatment my wife received, especially as she was eager to consider joining the gym. Given this experience, I cannot recommend this gym, irrespective of the quality of its facilities, as it appears more focused on its financial interests than on the satisfaction and well-being of its members.

Ray R 2 months ago

Negative experience: Most gyms will offer you a free day pass to try out the facility. This place charges $30 saying you have access to all the amenities which I don't care about I'm more interested in the fitness equipment $30 is very steep for a 1 day pass you should offer a free day trial like other gyms. A lot of gyms do free 1 week trials. Definitely seem greedy and money hungry so I will take my business elsewhere

Fantastic experience: This is definitely a wonderful place to workout. It’s the best gym I have ever joined. Great service especially from Apurva, Sandie and Natalie. Keep up the great work ladies. Your contagious and uplifting smiles make the place so warm. Parker please keep up your willingness to help, making the atmosphere so welcoming and friendly.

Fantastic experience: This is one of the nicest gyms in Edmonton. I have been a member for over a year and it is one of my favourite places to workout. The staff is super friendly and helpful, and I have made tons of friends at Movati. Highly recommended!

Negative experience: I am a founding member at this gym and attended since they opened their doors. I had a very tough pregnancy that kept me away but once I was back on my feet I was eager to get back to what used to be my favourite place. Unfortunately, when I returned to Movati I was informed they no longer had childcare. My husband works out of town and we have no family here. As a result, I can’t attend the gym for weeks at time. It’s very upsetting and very frustrating to learn that parents access was throw away in the hopes for the business to make even more money on Pilates classes that aren’t even part your membership.

Fantastic experience: Clean gym with excellent customer service! There is a women's only gym section and women's only pool. The classes there are also amazing!

Ricky Johnson 3 months ago

Negative experience: A lot of recent "promotional" 5 star reviews here which in my opnion are fake... As someone who has worked out here for years and who prefers evening workouts, I've reached my limit in patience with how busy this place is. This gym, once fantastic, is now EXCESSIVELY over crowded. On average, members have to wait 10 minutes for a machine or bench on a lucky day in the evening with Gen Z playing on their phones. The building appears spacious, but when it comes to weights and machines, it's comparable to your typical GoodLife gym. Best of luck trying to book into Yoga and spin classes.

Fantastic experience: I've enjoyed it. It's clean, the staff have been very friendly, and I love the hot yoga. I find hot yoga is like a cheat code for helping with my flexibility and muscle recovery. And it's better than paying for a gym membership and a hot yoga membership separately.

Michael Longmead 3 months ago

Fantastic experience: I have been a member of a ton of gyms, but this one is by far the nicest. It's a huge building, with a great variety of high quality, up to date, machines for each muscle group. Every room is super clean, and the staff are all positive and social. Plus, the Sauna and hot tub there are particularly nice. I don't write reviews often, but this place deserves it!

Fantastic experience: Just wanted to take a moment to acknowledge two team members that completely stand out to me. Having worked in the fitness industry and hospitality, I feel I have a great sense of an amazing hire. Sam and Emily operate themselves with such sincerity, integrity, crazy happy energy, and dedication to their position. These two possess traits that just can’t be taught….they are who they are because of how they were raised and who they surround themselves now! Great hire with these two….they are the MOVATI STANDARD

Negative experience: The most redeeming quality is the convenience if you live in the area. Equipment, showers, steam room and sauna frequently need maintenance which does not happen in a timely manner. Staff can be quite hit or miss. Some are quite kind but unfortunately some can be standoffish and appear disinterested towards your concerns. You can expect Movati to play Christian-inspired family shows and HGTV in the women’s only area, and be told “I don’t know where the remote is” when you ask them to change the channel to TSN or Sportsnet. But don’t worry, in the area where men are working out, the sports channels are available. I you like group fitness classes, such as hot yoga, Pilates, etc. that is definitely a perk of this gym BUT they don’t give you a heads up if classes are cancelled, so you could show up and it may not actually exist! Found out the hard way today, where we waited outside of the class for awhile, asked a staff member if we were at the right place, to which he confirmed yes and to just wait until the instructor opened the doors. Went back down after waiting until 5 past the class time, and the staff member then unapologetically informed us that the class was actually cancelled. Obviously not the end of the world, but just another Movati moment that leaves you wondering if it’s worth the investment. There is nothing starkly offensive about this gym on average. It just leaves you feeling pretty underwhelmed. Overall, I don’t think the membership is worth the $$ value, and look forward to the end of my contract to explore services elsewhere.

Fantastic experience: A few days ago, I had a Game Plan Session with Chris Krulicki, which surpassed all my previous gym consultations. Despite our limited time due to my schedule, Chris meticulously assessed my condition and mobility, achieving exceptional results within the constraints.

Negative experience: I had an appointment booked for 6 pm wednesday oct 9th, at Movati windermere. I arrived on time and about 16 mins after the person (Hezca) I had the appointment with came out to let me know she had a walk in and if I was in a rush? She offered to find me someone else and said it wouldn't take long about 5 mins after I walked out. They clearly don't respect clients or maybe just didn't appreciate my time. If you book an appointment then it's on you to keep it. Show some respect.

Negative experience: I cancelled my membership so many times. Still they been taking money from my account. I went in person, online, and via phone. Finished my contract! Cancelled it 4th time last week and woke up today seeing a notification that this gym charge me some money again.

Negative experience: Unfortunately, they just lost two clients. My son and I went to the gym looking for general information and to know the place and guess what happened... They told us to come back tomorrow because the person responsible for giving out the information wasn't available! We just needed some information that's it!! Driving now to Goodlife... Wondering why they just have 3,9 stars...

Negative experience: Personal would not recommend this place ! This is coming from a international competitor for ifbb ! Not worth the money you get way more just at planet fitness if you know how to train properly. And get this there daily entry fee of almost 32 $ is planet fitness monthly membership . Don’t waste ur time here.

Matej B 4 months ago

Positive experience: Great gym, probably best in the city. But it seems like they signed up the whole city because literally whole parking lot gets filled constantly on any given day, even as late as 7pm.

Ruth Orekogbe 4 months ago

Positive experience: Like the concept of a large gym with multiple class offerings Women’s pool and hot tub could be cleaner. Could have more diverse workout machines For a gym that requires new members to sign a mandatory 1 year minimum lease, you would think they would use that money to invest into their equipment…. Wish there was a designated stretching station with more stretching equipment Add ons like pilates classes are very expensive

Janelle Downing-Baker 5 months ago

Fantastic experience: Love this gym! I really enjoy the women's only fitness areas as well as the classes. Aerial hoop, antigravity fitness, and the hot yoga alone make this more than worth the value. I highly recommend this gym! The staff are friendly and helpful. This gym has something for everyone.

Negative experience: It looks like my previous review was somehow removed?? MEN IN THE WOMANS CHANGEROOM MAYLONG WEEKEND.. This is a severely touchy subject, i understand that but the horrifying looks of the woman i exchanged looks with while there was a fully bearded male walking around in a TOWEL in the changerooms. Told front desk how uncomfortable i was, and im sure other woman were also, the response i got was "Imagine how uncomfortable HE feels" WHAT A JOKE.

Negative experience: Almost half of the euipement have maintenance notice. Your memberhsip is one of the expensive in town. Don’t yiu guys have two sets of Upholstery?? Every other equipement has maintenance note on it. What a terrible management, honestly !!

Negative experience: This gym is absolutely pathetic. For as big as it is the layout makes it feel crammed and small. Terrible terms on contracts that are impossible to get out of. Everyone who works there is on a high horse.

Oana Vonu-Boriceanu 5 months ago

Negative experience: Like everyone has already said, this is just another typical gym that is very business oriented and profit hungry. I’ll be cancelling my membership at the 2 year mark since I haven’t been able to get out of this contract so far. My girlfriend broke her wrist on the trx machine last year because they didn’t correctly secure the end of the strap to the handle connected to the functional trainer in the ladies section. I’ve never seen a strap tied to a handle like that in a gym because it is not safe. Movati Windermere have since taken that strap off the functional trainer but at the time my friend severely injured herself when the strap slid off causing her to fall backwards shattering her her entire wrist upon landing, which required reconstruction surgery and later physiotherapy. Of course the gym didn’t accept liability because she signed waiver at the beginning of her contract that even if she died due to their negligence nobody could sue them. She had no phone calls of concern or follow up from management about how she was doing at all, likely because they didn’t want to seem like they could be liable. She wanted to cancel the rest of her membership and they refused even though she could no longer use her wrist at all. Where is your humanity Movati?? When you clearly knew the strap was tied unsafely since you took it down after she reported this. They also don’t make it clear that although you’re able to pause your membership for 6 weeks a year, you only have 2 chances per year to request NOT actually take the time off but just to make the request. So if you ask to pause your contract then your travel plans change and you ask for different dates with plenty of notice - those 2 chances are used up even though you didn’t technically take any time off the first time. Another way to squeeze those $ out of you, sneaky!

Negative experience: Ridiculous policies. I signed up for a class, got there at exactly the scheduled start time and was locked out. The class had not started yet, the instructor was standing at the back of the room setting up music and rudely refused to let me in. Last time I had arrived to class 10 minutes early and the instructor showed up late. What am I paying for?

She is very intuitive and understands the specific needs of my body to ensure that I’m healthy yet challenged to get a good workout and most importantly rebuild my strength. I’ve seen a tremendous improvement in my overall fitness and confidence! All thanks to Reno. Highly recommend!!

Negative experience: The staff in this place are racist. Based on your appearance they decide if you can or cannot use the pool over the weekend. There are 3 days a week when I cannot access the pool because “the rules” say so. However, none of the staff have been able to produce a copy of said rules and they claim it is for security reasons that I cannot access.

Klassy K 7 months ago

Positive experience: You closed childcare for a reformer class that isn’t part of the membership, for the price we pay it should be included. The constant emails and advertisements has me under the impression you guys are struggling to get people to attend. I took the class before, it’s nice but I wouldn’t pay for it. I would definitely attend if it was part of the membership like many other classes.

Livio Souza 7 months ago

Negative experience: Updated I took some time before writing this review to ensure it wasn’t just a bad first-month experience. Unfortunately, the issues have persisted. 1. Pool Access & Management Issues: In my first week, I tried to use the pool but was denied entry without explanation, other than "security reasons." When I asked for clarification, no further details were provided. I attempted to escalate the matter by contacting the gym manager via the app, website, and email, but my requests were ignored. Later, I discovered that the person who denied me access was one of the managers, yet I was still directed to resolve the issue with the same unhelpful front desk staff. Adding to the confusion, I contacted another branch, only to learn that no such "security rules" exist — just the standard code of conduct. It seems the issue is either very local or personal. 2. Front Desk Issues: It’s frustrating when staff members are busy shopping online during work hours, leaving members waiting to get towels, resistance bands, or other equipment. Some staff seem aware of the problem and try to pick up the slack, but it’s still an ongoing issue. 3. Equipment Availability: There isn’t enough equipment to accommodate the number of members. While I don’t mind waiting, the gym is becoming an uncomfortable experience. 4. Equipment Imbalance: On a related note, the gym has about 9 or 10 hack squat machines but only one Smith machine, which often creates long queues. 5. Boxing Bag Usage: I frequently use the boxing bags, but recently, a personal trainer has started holding hourly classes on them. I don’t think shared equipment should be monopolized by trainers, especially when there’s an entire room upstairs designated for classes. 6. Prepare for Influencers: An increasing number of people are setting up cameras on stands and filming themselves around the gym without much regard for others, despite signs clearly stating the gym policy against recording staff and members. When I inquired about this at the front desk, I was told the gym has no one responsible for monitoring this issue. Instead, I was advised to stop my workout and report it to the front desk if I feel a camera is pointed in my direction. This is an even bigger nuisance and significantly disrupts the gym experience.

Negative experience: I need to end my contract please. Movati sold me a contract that did not help our discussed plan. I had not been in a gym since 2019 and humbly requested for help. They decided I would need a trainer that cost more than i pay for my vehicle in a month after signing me up for a contract i don't need. Why sign me up then discuss trainer and now you're telling me i cant come out of the contract. If i knew this, i would not register in the first place. I have moved out of the Windermere area and unable to still cancel my plan with no alternate option from movati. Movati wants me to drive 35 mins to continue to use one of the 2 only available movati gym and still pay bi weekly. I have not been attending the gym and can't attend your gym anymore. Stop charging me. I am paying for nothing. I have walked in to discuss but you tried to school me instead. Is this a trap contract? I told you i dont want. Stop charging me. It has been months now. I won't rest till this is resolved. Stop directing me to Facebook to sell your movati plan. I did not buy your plan on Facebook.

Negative experience: Honest Experience: For the hype this gym has, it’s functionality is super LOW: 1. No dedicated stretching area like most gyms, grab a mat if you find one and find a spot if you can fit in. Most important thing is stretching but rubber mat dedicated area is missing, they can replace the open office seated area to make one, I asked a lot of times but I got a defensive response. 2. Lot of trainers doing super sets for clients so you don’t get the machines easily, you ask them and they show you an attitude. 3. No machines for certain important body parts, one of a kind machine for important body parts. 4. There are times when there is no space to work out as it’s poorly designed. Main gym is almost ignored. 5. Bathrooms almost always broken and under repair. 6. Extremely Poor layout with no spare machines for same body part, wait until you plan to change your workout schedule. 7. Front desk staff is great. 8. Cleanliness is great in common areas and the gym. 9. Men’s bathroom- people throw uses towels on the floor and walk away, Need some special instructions for such men in that room.

Positive experience: Positives: very clean, well maintained, nice facilities. Negatives: very small ladies section with NO expansion or added equipment, demonstrating lack of responsiveness to this important membership group. Not necessarily related to the gym but to gym goers. Super annoying behaviour that appears to be acceptable here?? People spending extended periods of time waiting for equipment while people using the equipment smile and giggle on their phones. Please be courteous and get off your phones. Movati needs to post reminders. Sad but true.

Ahmad Kamal 8 months ago

Positive experience: Very overpriced, because 70$ a month is almost never worth it for a gym. However, the equipment and facilities are by-far the best I've ever used, so it's hard to approve or reject it.

Ray K 8 months ago

Negative experience: Used to be a good gym, but if you can go elsewhere I would recommend doing that. I ended up canceling my membership. This place Extremely crowded. You have to wait more than 10 minutes sometimes. Lots of ladies just recording themselves all the time. Very annoying. Management is not receptive to any concerns raised to them. The only reason they have so many people is that there is no other gym close by. I can 100% guarantee that if another gym opened a large amount of people will bounce from this gym. It will be a good reality check for movati because they assume people come to them because they are good. Reality is we don’t any other close by option…yet.

Fantastic experience: I have worked out for years but working out with Carlos as my trainer has forever changed how I exercise. He taught me how to push myself as hard as I could for every workout, and how to know when I could up my weight. I hit PRs with him within a few months of working out with him post partum. His programming was amazing, and he motivated me every session, no matter how tired I was. I would recommend him to absolutely everyone I know , even if it was just for a few workouts!

Negative experience: I was an original member that signed up before they opened. I have cancelled this year. They do not care about their members. I complained several times about issues and was told they had never heard that before. These google reviews indicate these issues have been brought up mulitple times. Classes are over crowed. I do not want to be touched or have ppl in my personal space. Hot Yoga cold towels now reek since the beginning of the year. Not sure if it is their washing machine or they switched essential oils. You do not want to put that on your face. Many people filming. They say this is not allowed yet they do nothing about it. Some of us just want to get our workout in and go home. I do not want to wait for some chick scrolling through instagram to just sit on a machine. I have had to deal with ppl with tripods set up filming the entire gym. Save your time, patience and money! Go elsewhere!!!!

Fantastic experience: I literally LOOOVE this gym ❤️‍ from the friendly staff, cleanliness, amazing lounge space to great gym space. The protein smoothies also taste bomb. Anyone that’s looking for a new gym needs to try it out (I sound like an ad but I’m not even getting paid for this lmao just being real)

Negative experience: RUDE!! My partner had been going to this gym for almost three years. He hadn’t been to the gym in a few months lately due to work and wanted to transfer the membership to me. Since Movati offers yoga classes, I decided I’d take the membership as I pay for yoga classes anyway and could use their pool for swimming as well. There was only one person working the counter during busy times and apparently you need to book an appointment to make the transfer. Understood. Should’ve called in advance to ask. We proceeded to make the appointment and were told Oh! You can’t transfer your membership since you need to be in a two year contract to be able to do that! Are you serious? You were going to gain a new loyal customer but you got greedy and now you lost both the customers. This gym seems to only care about the people when they can extract money out of them. You cannot transfer your membership when you’re not part of their money extracting scheme anymore. My partner ended up cancelling his membership right away. I hope more and more people see that this is no community gym. They’re there just to make money, which is fine for a corporate but there is no balance between caring about their community/patrons and making money. Eventually it’ll catch up to them.

Movati Athletic Windermere

The transfer option is put into place to help members who are in a committed term.

Negative experience: Worst service I've had out of the 3 years coming here. I made an appointment a week ago to upgrade to a premium membership. One if the employees told me they had a promotion and told me I can be upgraded. On the day of the appointment I wasn't even spoken to in private room. One of the sales rep. Tells me she can't upgrade me because it's not enough time to cancel my initial membership to upgrade to the new one. She offered to cancel my membership and told me I would have to wait the 30 day cancelation pluse a 60 day activation. None of this made sense and there was no genuine interest in making something work.Very disappointed.

Negative experience: I had a membership with them for almost 3 years. All they want is your money. Expensive and long contracts you can't get out of. Charging you for every little thing, from towels, to key fobs. The gym is always super packed. Have to rotate and wait for machines. Same goes for the classes you book online, unless you go in the middle of the day, they are always crowded as well. I finally hadn't been to the gym in several months due to work and wanted to transfer my membership to my girlfriend to use. The gym said I couldn't cause my 2 year contract was up and I couldn't transfer the month to month to someone else after that. Which can only make sense, cause how else were they going to extract the maximum amount of money out of someone new. Remember that movie "Dodgeball"? This is Globogym.

Movati Athletic Windermere

Thanks for taking the time to submit this review. Our “Select Membership” includes many of the premium features such as towel service. The transfer option is in place to help add flexibility within a committed term. We are happy to report that though our classes are very popular, walk ins are accepted to each class. We find that come class time almost every class has space.

Fantastic experience: I would like to give a shout out to my trainer, Reno Henrique, who I have been working with for about a year now. He has an incredible knowledge of fitness, training, and nutrition, as well as injury prevention and recovery. He has consistently held me accountable, and his supportive nature has been instrumental in my progress. I've seen significant improvements in my strength, mobility, injury recovery and overall fitness since working with him. I highly recommend Reno to anyone looking for a dedicated and effective fitness trainer! Thanks Reno!

Negative experience: Poor service experience. There was no response to inquiries about the expiration of the membership period, but there was no response, and they visited and explained later, but there was no responsibility for their non-response. They want just “pay, money” good. And for lost item. They said keep it for 2 weeks but throw out all before 2 weeks. Didn’t give any notice, Facility management guide. They don’t care about customer.

Negative experience: The number of people they signed up over the years even comply with fire code regulations??? If your schedule aligns to work out in the evenings then this place is not for you since this place is packed full of people and good luck finding a machine or piece of equipment to suit your needs. I am writing my honest review of this place ever since they opened the doors a few years ago and the status of this gym where is now in 2024 as a former member that cancelled the membership. • What I really dislike is the amount of people they signed up over the years, this place can clearly not handle the amount of members especially during peak hours, and that is the reason why I cancelled my membership. Bobby the current manager really dropped the ball regarding this issue and speaking with other members, There were multiple concerns brought up regarding the congestion. • it is a battle sometimes trying to find a place to park. It is best to do a guest tour of the facility in the evenings if you are thinking of signing to a 1-2 year term agreement. • They do a pretty good job keeping this place clean to standards with the amount of people at the gym, I give them credit for that. I would be hesitant taking a shower in the men's locker room, since there are dirt bags that love to clear their noses in the showers. • For the size of this facility, they really need to expand the floor plan to accommodate more machines and weights for the mass influx of new members. • Sauna is always down for maintenance. • Management has stated the new North Side location will relocate a lot of members, which I find that hard to believe, they will sign up more people that this location if they can profit from it. • I don't have kids, but for them to close down the kids play area, that really shows the character of profits over people. It is not worth the $80+ a month for what you are getting in return. It was a great place when it first opened and now it is a disappointment.

Movati Athletic Windermere

You are correct that the community has embraced us like no other fitness offering in Edmonton. We are very proud to see our members using their memberships at such a high rate.

Fantastic experience: Stunning gym, has a large selection of machines and classes. Cafe has all kinds of shakes and healthy snack options . My favourite go to treat is a mocha rush and Moos protein muffins .

Fantastic experience: A FANTASTIC place to be a part of! I enjoy coming here, it’s got more of a health club feel than an overwhelming gym. The staff do such a great job at keeping it clean! You have everything you need at the gym, I love the classes - yoga included!! The change rooms for the sauna and steam and the equipment are well maintained. The women’s area is incredible - lots of machines and good environment. The people who go here are down to earth and you don’t get that stuck up vibe that you do at some gyms (inflated egos) just love this place. So grateful I took the time to find the right place. Thank you so much to all the staff and everyone who makes this place possible

Positive experience: This gym is alright. In this whole gym, there is only one smith machine, which is always packed!!! I went to planet fitness, it’s full of smith machines and it’s never crowded to use. One of the things i noticed in this gym is you need to upgrade your membership simply to pause it if you are out of the country. I went back home for 4 months, I couldn’t pause it. They are like I need to upgrade my membership to $80/month instead of $64/month(I got membership early when this place opened). So basically I need to pay an extra $15/month just to pause it???

Positive experience: I signed up, then changed my mind and requested a refund. The person who signed me up, was terrific and her co-worker who helped me do the refund paperwork was pretty awesome too. Did I get the refund? You bet! Took a bit of time, cheque in mail etc, but they did come through. The place is beautiful, no doubt and the staff seemed very nice. Would I return? Probably not, not because of the staff or facilities, it's just that the fit & vibe wasn't right for me. Would I recommend it - for sure!

Negative experience: I have been coming here for 2 months and been asking for a gym bag as part of my sign up bonus. I have been talking to the staff everyday asking them for it and they never delivered. One of the managers gave my partner one in front of me then turned towards me and said I have to pay for it and if I don’t like it then she will get her boyfriend to “come deal with me”. I am appalled with how they have threatened me and havent kept there promise. 10/10 do not come here, they’ll threaten you and laugh at you so they don’t have to give up there gym bags

Positive experience: Used to love this gym now it’s physically impossible to get a work out in because of all the members. I either have to go at 5am, or during the day(I work full time so now) or 10pm. It’s so over crowded you have to park in a different parking lot, and once you’re in at least a 20-30 minute wait to even touch a machine or get a bench. I’m done paying $100 a month for just cardio.

bru 11 months ago

Negative experience: THIS PLACE WILL SCAM YOU. Huge gym with tiny area for actual weightlifting. You're better off going to goodlife or any other gym since they have more machines and racks. They also close earlier than most gyms. Worth around 30 dollars a month but they charge 80. Make sure you read the contract properly because they love taking money from your pockets. After your contract is over, they continously steal 40 dollars bi weekly. What's even better is that when you want to cancel, they make sure they can steal a bit more money by making you pay for another month. Never seen a gym charge you another month after wanting to cancel. Pathetic. Scummy business which is overpriced. Save your money and go elsewhere.

Pepper BR 11 months ago

Negative experience: Classes cancel, place is over crowded while they still do tours to sell next memberships. Even with head phones on you can block out the wild safari tour. I have heard horror stories about those who have needed to cancel. The day care shutting down, so yeah obviously some people would need to cancel thier membership. Or people are realizing all the great classes aren't available because there is not enough services for the amount of membership they are still over selling! Gross. Do better! Do better Bobby Ryan!!!

Negative experience: On February 13th around approximately 8:30pm my vehicle got stolen from the Movati parking lot. I had immediately told the front desk staff and was directed to the manger on shift. The manager was extremely brief with me and did not provide any additional support or apologize for this incident that happened on Movati grounds. As a gym that holds a high standard for safety and customer service I was extremely disappointed with how this situation was handled. I have yet to hear any follow up from this situation from any of the staff. 2 days after the incident I had phoned the front desk to see if there was any additional information, where I was then told from the front desk staff that the new manager on shift that day had no idea that this even happened. Overall I am very upset with the customer service of this facility.

Negative experience: Multiple machines need repairs. The sauna and showers are constantly broken. The universal swimming pool is always closed for family, classes, or maintenance. The app hasn't worked since months ago. They can't have enough classes during the evenings. Management just cares about getting new clients to show the beautiful facility, and once you sign up they show disinterest in your concerns. 1 star for having such a nice facility. Movati Windermere needs new management.

Fantastic experience: It’s a great gym, been a member for 3 years now. Cons -On the more expensive side -Not fully 24/7 for the night owls and shift workers -Does get quite quite busy -The pool/hot tub is often closed in afternoons for family swims Pros -Amazing staff, very friendly -Clean, super clean facility -Lots of equipment variety, for all needs -Group classes, lots of variety and fun For the price, completely worth it. Is the sauna sometimes closed for maintenance? Yeah, well many other gyms don’t have a sauna. Is it sometimes super busy? Yeah, so is every other gym at 5pm, go another time of the day. Do certain members have bad gym/change room etiquette? Yeah, so does every other gym. As far as gyms go, the atmosphere of MOVATI and it’s trainers and staff is top notch. Has something for everyone, cardio, machines, squat racks, functional fitness, group classes, pool, sauna, women’s only area, hot yoga… on and on. Unless you specifically want a group fitness gym, powerlifting gym etc… Compared to a rec center or good life, MOVATI has enough benefits to be worth the price

Brooke Marie 1 year ago

Positive experience: Really great gym for the most part, great facilities and amazing yoga studio. Does quite well considering how busy it is and the cleaning staff is amazing. One thing I have noticed since the New Year especially that I have mentioned to staff (but nothing has changed) is trainers often use benches for storage space even though the person they’re training is not using the bench. With a gym this busy it’s unreasonable to use a bench for water bottles and notebooks when people are clearly waiting. It also teaches people new to the gym bad etiquette, utilize the floor instead of a bench! Great gym overall.

Negative experience: Beautiful facility hands down but $100 a month isn't worth it. Constantly waiting on equipment because the gym is so packed, usually way over the max fire code allowed in the space. After the first month I didn't enjoy working out there and tried to cancel memberships and had to transfer to someone else over Facebook market place which is nearly impossible as people can just go get there own. Wasn't made aware of that when I signed up and after the year went by had to go in to sign papers just to not renew the membership. No reason why you can't sign over email to cancel/ not renew. Obviously frustrated that they force you to go in just so you can get harassed as to why you don't want to continue going there. Wouldn't recommend this gym

Fantastic experience: Such a beautiful gym in town. I have the best personal trainer Ryan Anderson he helped me with my knee injury and worked side by side with my physio doctor. I am soo grateful for his help highly recommend him.

Positive experience: I love this gym it's only a couple blocks from home, it's huge, so anything I need to do I can do it. Only issue I have is, if there is a women's only gym why won't more women use it, Aside from the more conservative women who like their privacy? Whenever it's busy all these women use the upstairs gym taking up space just so they can stand around and show off their body in gymwear. Meanwhile there's almost nobody down in the women's gym. This is really frustrating considering at peak times there is hardly any room upstairs where you want to workout. It would be nice if the management would urge more women to use the gym space provided for them.

Positive experience: This is a pretty good gym, but I question some applicability for those serious about lifting. The facility itself is very nice and luxurious and they have a lot of perks and cool classes which I didn't have the pleasure of seeing, but as far as I'm concerned a lot of the equipment available is suboptimal since some of it uses cheaper brands and they also lack dip belts for lifters ( though that is understandable with an older clientele.) Their strategy for memberships also feels exploitative which im not a fan of. TLDR: Good gym if you want somewhere nice and comfortable to exercise but not for serious lifters

Emily Clark 1 year ago

Fantastic experience: I am always taken care of when and if I have questions. Pat in cleaning services is always doing such an amazing job, hard work ethic and always greets with a smile. The facility is clean, organized, & has such a wide variety of equipment and classes, it’s truly a one stop shop fitness facility.

Fantastic experience: Movati is the most beautiful gym I’ve ever been too. And not only is it beautiful the training program is top notch. I’ve had a few trainers at Movati but hands down Stephanie is the best. Very professional, very knowledgeable and personable. Not only does she offer a program that will show results , she goes over and above to offer her intelligence in other avenues such as health and diet. I recommend this gym to everyone I know. And if you’re looking for a trainer… Connect with Stephanie. You won’t be disappointed… she’s a 12/10

Fantastic experience: Have really loved my experience at Movati! I've been a member for over a year. It is on the more expensive side but it's nice to have a more luxurious gym experience where I can go for self-care and focus on my health. There are so many classes to attend, including an incredible hot yoga room! I also love the women's area - it has everything I need, including a women's only steam room, pool and hot tub. Finally, the best part about my experience with Movati is my amazing performance coach - Josh. In the past, the gym has been an overwhelming and daunting space. He has given me the confidence throughout my fitness journey and now I love my time at the gym. I'm getting stronger and building a sustainable plan to keep the momentum going. Thanks Josh!

Negative experience: This gym is starting to get extremely busy. When I signed up initially they told me they were going to put a cap on the amount of memberships they sold. They lied. I just spent 25mins driving around trying to find a parking spot today and then I have to constantly wait to use machines to even get a decent workout in. Way too busy in my opinion and would not recommend joining. Gave it a two star because the equipment is nice and it’s very clean. Otherwise a disappointment.

Heather Fraser 1 year ago

Positive experience: I have been attending Movati for almost 5 months now. I love it. I don’t find it over crowded, I’ve never had to wait to get on a machine. It is always very clean (ever been to a city run rec center with women’s hair all over the change room floor? It is NOT like that here, thank goodness), and it is a completely judgement free zone. Only giving 4 stars tho due to the closing of the playroom and cancelation of kids swimming lessons. Both of those were huge advantages when I signed up and then got cancelled before I could really use them. But I understand this was a corporate decision so not much they could do locally.

K U 1 year ago

Positive experience: One of the best gyms I’ve joined. Clean and the group classes have knowledgeable instructors. I’ve been to other gyms with group classes led by instructors who are a waste of money (they don’t know what their doing, not encouraging, or the environment sucks). It’s amazing at MOVATI that you go knowing you will get an amazing workout. Each class has it’s own room, which is great, because it allows you to focus on the workout and not the noise around you. They have classes ALL hours of the day. I’m obsessed. I can literally do a class everyday. I’ve met some good people coming here and there are so many different style classes. I’ve been able to re-train my body by attending spin, water aerobics, pilates and barre. I find the crowd is mature and everyone that goes, are positive & there to get a good workout in. CONS My only complaint is the parking lot. Everyone must have pre-workout brain because the drivers are LOCO. I park further away to avoid fender benders and the craziness. Also this location is NUTSO busy. I go at 6am or noon and its fine but anything after 4pm is way too busy. I hope they open more locations.
