Fantastic experience: Maintenance staff at this place are unreal. The facility has to be at least a quarter century old now and the place is so clean and well kept! Never garbage in the parking lot even! Change rooms, hot tubs, steam room etc all always working. Plus membership in men/women+ is the absolute best deal for a gym membership south of the Fraser river. Nowhere else comes close, I go twice a day to the gym and have tried all the locals from Grandview to Ladner Leisure. Tong Louie is the best!

Fantastic experience: Supriya she is a best yoga teacher very authentic. She is trained by yoga master in India very polite passionate and thoughtful and lovely teacher. I recommend you to go Ms. Supriya’s yoga class.

Negative experience: When I started, everything was great, but now it's so crowded that my one-hour gym session sometimes goes to 2 hours.

Positive experience: Very impressed with the cleanliness of this facility especially changing rooms. Large pool area and great for swimming lessons for children.

Fantastic experience: The manager in aquatics tong Louie is probably one of the kindest, caring person I’ve met. She is amazing. I literally come every Tuesday for my kids swimming because she is just the best person to say hi to. She helps everyone and makes sure everyone’s questions and concerns are answered. She cares for her staff you can tell. She made my experience here amazing.

Positive experience: Overall much cleaner than the rec centre's. But also much more expensive too. I've been a member since 2005 and only real complaint is the men's membership plus room is very over crowded and can be messy with the patrons mostly being east Indian and not cleaning up after themselves. I hope they go back to pre covid hours as on weekends it used to be open till 9pm which was great for parents to go for a after dinner steam and hottub.

Fantastic experience: Amazing I got swimming lessons for my kid she went from not being able to swim to swimming without a problem the basketball court is huge and the gym is amazing I recommend for everyone

Negative experience: Took 10 min to check in - even though my name was in the system - and pay for the indoor family play ground for my kids. It costs 10$ for 1.5 hours. It's overpriced for what you get. Two stars only because there's lots of space.

Negative experience: I have tried going swimming a few times and always told "yeah we have public swimming right now" gets in, oh, every lane has some training going on. Oh, ok I guess I'll swim in this corner, oh I'm told to get out because they have children training, oh ok I guess I'll go in one of the thin lanes, oh you are training life guards here... Ok I guess I'll go to the hot tub? Oh, it's full of seniors, ok fair enough I guess I'll go home? No way to swim, leaves "thanks for coming in" oh yeah no worries I loved the 15 mins of swim time I had.

Negative experience: Today I went there to inquire about the process to register myself and my family. First I spoke to a girl at their help desk. She was least interested to help me. Later after 15 mins I went again to register ourselves. She asked another guy Gavin to assist me. He did the complete registration and at the very end when I was about to make the payment he mentioned that I also need to make the payment for joiner fee which is $100. What a stupid and unprofessional team they have. Neither the girl nor the guy mentioned about it when I asked about the complete process. Gavin also took my card details to make the payment. When I asked him that I don’t want to continue the process and please delete the information. He simply told me that he deleted but he did not show any proof to me. So, I am not even sure if he actually deleted it or not. Very unhappy with the experience today. I am definitely not going there again.

Fantastic experience: I took 15 sessions of PT with Robin and will highly recommend him as an efficient PT.This was my first time on fitness floor and What I was hoping to gain from this PT sessions was an insight into the fitness world and achieve my goal which I was able to as aiming for smaller goals and working  towards your main one works really well as you usually see progress every week with his motivation and encouragement with how to do each exercise correctly and with solid form (I still hate Smith Machine:) Training with Robin I have noticed a big difference in terms of being able to self motivate and the way I approach training. I have felt myself getting much stronger and have been able to increase my  weight on lifts by a small amount most weeks whilst form still being correct which has lead to a big increase in my self-confidence with body image.

Fantastic experience: This ymca has got to be one of my best places to exercise, the employees, selection of machines, the cleanliness is all a 10/10! Love the pool and hot tub too!

Negative experience: Worst location ever 14988 57 ave. Tong Louie Family YMCA. Pool supervisor Marley is the worst. She was so rude to my child. Even though I was there with my child and he is having little tantrum of leaving hot tub but the way she talked to me and my child was unbelievable. Also she gathered other staff and telling them to take this child out of the pool. My child was so scared and I asked so nicely that I am here and make this child out. Give me 5 minutes but she was not listening. Worst experience ever.

Fantastic experience: My husband and I went to the YMCA to check out possible plus membership options it is expensive but I feel with the extra amenities. We will feel that we’ve made a good choice Steph and Dylan were the representatives that helped us we did sugh up and get a tour of the facilities . Thank you again

Fantastic experience: I enjoyed the warm toddler wading pool. I would take my shampoo and conditioner in a bag with the towel to the poolside next time so that I don't have to get chlorine water on my towel to dry off before going back to the locker

Fantastic experience: I’ve been coming to the YMCA since I was 5 years old. It’s a wonderful, up to date gym with clean amenities and a great staff. I move around throughout the year so I have to discontinue / resign up every few months and I must say Mahpara is such a treasure. She makes this process easy and is always ready to help with a smile! It’s customer service like this that will always bring me back to the YMCA

Positive experience: Overcrowded gym, lack of commitment to swimming learners, adult swimming is a loooong wait. Overall disappointing experience. At least have a courtesy to give a heads up before delisting from the swimming classes without knowing the reason to miss classes. Never saw a place which delists based on absence.

Positive experience: This has been a second home for me since I was a child, many good memories have been made here over the years. Great facility with lots of ammenaties. Gym is always busy which kind of sucks but when the location and equipement are as good as they are here, I don't blame people for flocking to it. Prices for memberships seem high, but once you learn what you have access to, you won't wanna complain.

Fantastic experience: Have been going here for a couple years now and I find the personal to be extremely helpful.

Positive experience: Good for kids lessons, but the hottub is never open during this time, it's a bit disappointing.

Negative experience: You have to pay for everything. If you just want a gym, go anywhere else. Club 16 has way better equipment, way more of it and it’s way less busy. And it’s a quarter of the price.

Fantastic experience: We came a few months ago to see our options to put our kids in swim lessons but she wasn't helpful and told us nothing is available. We came again on January 10 and thought we'd just go on a waitlist for now. We were helped this time by Steph at the front counter. She went above and beyond to help us get our kids into swim lessons and helped with our membership options. She went over pretty much everything and answered my million questions with so much patience. Brought my kids in today for their first swim lessons and Steph was there again. She welcomed my kids so warmly and went over everything with them, taking us to the change room and showing us everything to prepare us. She was so thorough that we had no issues. On the way out, once again so warm and friendly. Love her accent too! Changeroom, pool, everything was clean. Kids swim instructor was very nice too and my kids are so happy just after the first lesson. Her name is Maraya - super sweet and patient with the kids and you can tell she really enjoys her job.

Positive experience: Been going here for a couple of weeks for classes and so far happy with the experience. I went to a yoga class and a spin class and both were good. The regular changing room is clean. There’s a big parking at the facility for the guests. There’s a small cafeteria to get a bite before/after classes. Looking forward to trying more stuff at the facility.

Positive experience: I like this place , I've come with my children or by myself, they have something for everyone, since I started in the gym I've gone during the mid day , evenings, weekends, I really enjoyed seeing the different walks of life it's pretty laid back , I feel like I don't have to conform to a certain aesthetic and that it's a pretty welcoming environment.

Positive experience: Worth getting membership but pool is too small and prefer not to visit pool on Wednesday and Friday evening. Crazy due to swimming lesson

Fantastic experience: You get gymnasium and swimming pool under one roof. Another reason for a good rating is, its very close to my home . The staff is very friendly especially Mahpaara and Beckham at the front desk and most of the lifeguards at the pool.

Positive experience: Usually only come here for the pool, was told the best time for swimming is in the morning. However, starting 06:50 am two out of four lanes was taken away for lessons. So the crowd is basically in the remaining two lanes. Fast swimmers occupy slow lanes. Very stressful environment to swim in the morning.

Positive experience: The pool hours aren’t bad but sometimes they overlap with the lessons and practically the whole pool is taken up by lessons. Gym equipment is modern and facility is nice overall!

Negative experience: My wife went into a yoga class they told her to wait outside people came inside she waited 20 minutes in the line up after 20 minutes they said they have one spot but after that they told her to go home and when my wife ask why she's waiting 20 minutes if there is no space for her and then the supervisor came and they told her she's suspended her membership for three months and there were no body in team were listening to my wife and when she wanted to record whatever they were doing they told her not to record anything and now it's been four months and we are paying the membership and try to call ymca but there's no answer no calling back it's just ridiculous how these people work and there is no email that we can find a help if you are a manager or whatever you link to Louis family YMCA please get back to me because we are really don't know what to do next we are helpless and we are paying the membership every month it's just so so so bad experience my wife went to hospital because she was traumatized by the staff

Negative experience: Literally stood for 15 minutes at reception. The receptionists were standing there did not even acknowledged or offered to help. Very disappointed. I was gonna join but you just lost one customer. Very bad customer service

Fantastic experience: Our family loves this place. We go there for swimming, yoga and weight training. It's very clean and the staff is super nice and very friendly. They have opened up the cafe as well. Awesome place. They also have leadership classes for youth.

Negative experience: If I have 0 options I will give them 0 very poor service, and very poor staff, I got a membership only for my children's swimming classes before Covid-19, we were just waiting list, we hadn’t used any services but they charged us every month then Covid came I cancelled membership. After Covid-19 I got again membership but my children didn’t get swimming lessons always were on the waiting list then after a long time, finally October 2022 my children got lessons for 30 minutes once a week for 1 hour, only for 1 kid they charged $27.99, and he didn’t learn anything, staff were very rude, he doesn’t like to go swimming in YMCA surrey so I emailed and cancelled membership on February 7th, 2023, again because my children didn’t like but YMCA still charging us, we did not use any services from February 7th, 2023 but they changed till March 7th, 2023. So I had a very bad experience with surrey YMCA, I used to go to Vancouver YMCA they had very nice staff and very good services and we never had in waiting list sometimes I regret why I moved from Vancouver to surrey, ? I can give Vancouver YMCA 5 stars hence I had very excellent experience with them and for surrey YMCA 0000 stars.

Negative experience: They should separate the gym and pool In order to lower membership costs. 60$ a month is a lot. It's near me and I really want to join but the prices make zero sence for a non profit. Plus I only need the gym. I don't understand it. Plus they never pick up the phone. Please improve.

Negative experience: A few weeks ago me and my friend decided to do the 1 week trial. The tall white guy employee with the mask is very rude, 3 times while leaving always around closing time he would always say rudely hurry and leave its closing and we were literally leaving and on our way out, not sure if he is racist because he says it only to the brown guys, every other employee here is nice, I am not sure what this employees problem is , it is almost as if he hate his job or something and seems miserable. All Ymca employees are great except this one rude employee. Please do something about this. We will not be joining just because of this. We will be joing club 16 now.

Negative experience: You have raised the price to $158 per month for a family of 2 adults and 2 kids. And now you close at 9pm instead of 11pm like before. Pool closes earlier too. We're out.

Negative experience: It’s expensive given it’s supposed to be a community place. It’s three times more expensive compared to other gyms in the area. Given it’s got extra facilities I agree it should be a little more expensive. For a non profit organization it’s definitely making lots of money.

Fantastic experience: I have a plus membership here. Its amazing. weightroom is awesome, can play ball, steam room, shave etc I always feel like a million bucks leaving this place. Only downfall is that they close very early. 9pm during weekdays and 7pm on weekends

Fantastic experience: Great gym if you are a beginner looking to use some machines and dumbbells. The only downside is that they only have 2 squat racks, but if you are there early they will always be free to use.

Fantastic experience: My kids swim here every week and the facility is clean, the staff are friendly and helpful, and we enjoy coming. It’s getting busier now that there are more swimming lesson options and staff, but my kids still get individualized attention. Location is perfect and there is plenty of parking!

Positive experience: Was good, needs a sauna though. Also, there was a lifeguard training session going on which should have been told to us upon our admission at the front desk. Lol my gf thought the guy was ACTUALLY drowning and went to help, even though she herself CANNOT swim! THAT was when we were told of the exercises. All in all was cool time.

Negative experience: The staff are incompetent and slow. Waited in line for 20 minutes with no help. Ended up leaving because my two year old couldn't wait any longer.

Fantastic experience: Nice facility for gym, swimming and other activities. They have programs where you can take classes such as yoga, aerobics etc. Your kids can also enroll for swimming classes. I pay around 40$ bi-weekly for me and my kid. The swimming pool has three parts, a small mid warm shallow one for kids, an extra hot bath tub and a deeper big one with cold water if you really want to have a good swimming session.

Positive experience: This is out 1st membership experience and I was happy to return back to swimming however their communication within needs massive attention- this is the 2nd class where the progress wasn't updated from the instructor/ computer after speaking with multiple people including the manager Sandra- twice was my son not changed and had to be in the wrong class and no communication done within. This is very frustrating and everyone blames someone else! If this wasn't the only pool I could get into i would have left and canceled my membership

Negative experience: The days of fitness for all and serving the community have long gone. Now basically an expensive fitness centre for those with lots of money. Costs out of range for average Joe and young families. It’s a shame to see the original spirit lost. The attitude of some of the staff needs to be addressed. They are there to help the members, not the other way around. Chastizing someone because they are a few minutes late for an appointnent? Please remind them who are paying their wages.

Negative experience: YMCA Surrey is expensive. Not worth the price. Theres no staff around upstairs to help. People are coughing and sneezing without covering up. There was this one guy with tattoos wearing headband that sneezed right by one of the workout machines without covering up. No courtesy at all. Expensive prices do not justify the overall atmosphere.

Negative experience: Customer service isn’t even average. I went to inquire about getting a membership and the woman at the front desk didn’t even tell me when she was taking a picture of me for the ID. At the very least let the customer know what is going on. Very weird.

Negative experience: I called today to enquire about the admission rate for two adults and 6 years old boy for a drop in swim and was told $15 per adult, $10 per youth for a total of $40 approx. Wow, it costs me only $11.50 for 3 of us at Guildford recreation centre. Is YMCA a non-profit organization? I have been to WC Blair Recreation, Guildfrod Recreation, Grandview Heights aquatic centre and non of them charged us more than $14.00. You are so expensive, YMCA!

Positive experience: Nice staff. Small workout space but good open concept in one area to allow private workouts without anyone around.

Fantastic experience: It's not just a neighborhood gym that we came for exercise. This is becoming a family routine that we enjoyed to be here on regular basis. Thanks to all the dedicated staff and volunteer for maintaining such a wonderful community!

Negative experience: MOST EXPENSIVE GYM IN SURREY AND CLOSES AT 9PM. CLOSES AT 2PM ON SAT AND SUN ATLEAST MAKE IT TO 10PM

Fantastic experience: My daughter loves her swimming lessons, I have used the gym in the past and overall its an excellent value-add to the neighborhood. Living a stone's throw away from here, makes my family feel like there is always a go-to place as a default family rec center. Thanks YMCA.
