Negative experience: What an egoistic trainer working here They have limited machines and don't even let you use some stuff when u don't have option to do somewhere else even tho you are paying monthly. one of the poorest good life gyms in all of Canada i ever saw.

Negative experience: Let me start with the good... Location is amazing and morning staff is very friendly. I know this because that is the only time I can go without the gym being over packed to the point where it is almost impossible to get a proper workout in. However this gym has need for a lot of improvement for the premium price that the membership comes at. In terms of amenities there is only a small dry sauna which takes forever to heat up. There is no steam room and the showers are not maintained even though they just finished with some "renovations". There is way too much cardio equipment that goes unused. It would make much more sense for them to get rid of those machines and replace it with more weight training equipment as they barely have any in the first place. The floor mat upstairs in the dumbbell area is stuck together with tape, which is a tripping hazard. The big tv display they have has 2 screens out so it just looks very unprofessional. I have brought some of these concerns up to corporate a few months ago and there have been no changes. As I mentioned, staff and location are very good, so I really try to make the best of the situation. But I don't understand how or why Goodlife as a company is not doing more to upkeep this gym. They have definitely seen all the bad reviews that this location has but they are not doing anything about it. We need to demand more. I implore everyone else who goes to this gym and feels the same way to also leave a review and let corporate know how we feel. This is unacceptable for the premium price this comes at.

Negative experience: Terrible gym. Dirty and not well maintained. I get to the change room after my workout to find a guy using the blow dryer to dry his underwear. That was enough for me. Won't be gping here again. 0 stars

Negative experience: Start a team training after pay all the fee book two days in week for six week pay about 400$ got training half only then suddenly manager stop my team training without contacting me and after that no communication when they will start remain half team trading no clue my money is gone in this economy it’s very hard to earn the money how to explain this to GoodLife manager I don’t know I am not suggesting this gym to anyone don’t go there please

Positive experience: This is not my home gym. The reason I travel to this gym is because Michelle teaches zumba there and the schedule works for me. She is by far the most motivating and upbeat person I have met. I like this gym but Michelle's class is being cut due to class size. Management is being short sighted as none of the classes at this gym are large. I attend a multitude of classes but would not recommend Tamarack location because of lack of varied classes.

Fantastic experience: Was in that a facility this morning, what an absolute treat to see Kelly actually leave the front desk, great so many patrons with a smile and on a first name basis, change paper towels, clean surfaces, and just have an amazing ora. Definitely will go back just to see her!

Negative experience: Overcrowded and typically impossible to get a good workout in. Packed by patrons with absolutely zero regard for hygiene (the air is thick with foul body odour). Highly suggest seeking a place to train other than in this neighbourhood

Positive experience: Nice place and Jaz at front counter was extremely helpful this morning. Room for improvement. Need a water bottle station in Men’s change room. I shouldn’t have to leave the change room to get water for hydration while enjoying Sauna. Need to have towels in men’s change room for after sauna and shower. Charging station for Cellphones, AirPods etc should be an available in change rooms.

Negative experience: One of the worst gym I went there to cancel my membership and I was told i have to pay for one month fee $62 which i agreed to pay but on the day of payment they deducted $89 and when i called them they always said we dont have any access to that we dont know how did it happened please talk to our manager. I mean why are you guys even there when you clearly dont know how to help the customer They are just charging us extra money for no reason Please dont go to this gym they will make you pay the money for no reason

Negative experience: Almost 7-8 equipment needs fixed but haven’t been looked at from almost 2 months. Putting a note saying “needs maintenance” is not going to help unless you get it fixed. I have seen that lots of people use the equipment and dont clean it afterwards. I wish staff would keep an eye and remind them to clean the equipment after using it. Staff is nice and friendly.

Negative experience: Worst place & service. I wanted to cancel my membership & they said they still charge one month fee before cancellation but no such policy was discussed/made aware of at the time of subscription. Such a scammers they just get the sign on the tiny machine (nothing to read on screen or paper that contains their scam policy) saying it’s a subscription. Then those working there have the audacity to say that’s how they are trained “not fully disclosing where they are getting your signature “. My husband got their membership too under my name & we already paid 2 months fee in advance & when we cancelled before the start of second month they again charged us for one more month (still 1 month more than their scam cancellation policy). Such an expensive & rude service!!! Save your money there are other gyms cheaper & better policies!!

Negative experience: My review is only for the crowd at this gym. no offence to the GL team and members they all are great !! I would love to avoid this gym but can’t as it’s super close to my house. At times you literally can’t breathe at this gym it’s too smelly. I don’t know if management can do anything about it but maybe walk around during busy hours and embarrass people as they will only learn when told or they will be ignorant. Either or.
Fantastic experience: This is BY FAR my favorite Goodlife gym!! I've been to three different Goodlife gyms in edmonton so far but I find this one is more personal here, not to mention the staff here are THE BEST of all the other gyms! Every single time I show up the staff always greet me with a positive attitude and positive vibes make working out so much more enjoyable! Shout out to Chantalle (sorry if I spelt that wrong) and Kelly for everything they have done to help me start my fitness journey !! I often say "You don't have to be great to start, but you have to start to be great!" and this can especially be applied to the gym. Chantalle is kind and caring and a great listener!She listened to all my concerns and helped me figure out the best plan to help me along my fitness journey. She even set me up with my first week free, and then helped me set up my ultimate membership! Kelly has such a bright and bubbly personality and is always quick to answer any questions I have and always has great advice too!!☺️☺️☺️ Both Chantalle and Kelly have such a positive vibe that I find very contagious, they have been very supportive and they remember me by name before I even sign in, which makes it more personal and it shows that they care! When I show up they always ask me how I'm doing and they always hype me up before my workout !! It shows me it's not just a job to them, they genuinely want to help others be the best versions of themselves and feel great along the way! Honestly just getting to see those two every time is a motivation to show up to the gym! Also a small shout out to Andrea one of the personal trainers, I haven't worked with him personally but Chantalle introduced me to him duing my initial tour of the gym and ever since then everytime he sees there he always greets me with a smile and a wave So If you want to go to a gym with positive vibes and staff who genuinely care about you and your fitness journey I would HIGHLY recommend this one!! Solid 10/10 in my books!!

Negative experience: Workers at this gym are chill and they do their job just like anyone else, my review is mostly towards the smell and the culture at this gym, I understand it’s a gym but holy Christ this place smells like a 50 year old locker room in hell trying to get a work out in is tough especially if every breath you take you gotta hold it through out your whole set management needs to enforce something here because no gym in the city is like this one or as smelly, also the other gym members are inconsiderate and will bump you mid set and not think anything of it or will walk right beside you nearly risking you to drop your weight on your self

Negative experience: Gym is quite small but Ok for quick workouts. The main problem is the stinky people there. If you have a sensitive nose like mine, don't come to this location. The management should do something about it.

Negative experience: I’ve been to many GoodLife gyms in the last 10 years or so. New ones, old ones, in different cities, etc. My experience at Tamarack was the worst. By far. The gym is nasty. I know it can get busy sometimes, I don’t expect specialty service, it’s GoodLife, not a boutique gym, BUT at least do the bare minimum to keep the place clean and create an “ok” environment. The air inside is super humid, smelly, and unpleasant. I think there is some HVAC issue because my 25 year old high school gym wasn’t this bad. It’s so nasty. Lockers were the worst. Equipment is disorganized, floor uneven, spilled water everywhere. I get that this is partly because the people who attend didn’t care, but you have some responsibility as a business to do the bare minimum. First and last visit to this location. Maybe goodlife just aint it anymore. I only have it because I know what to expect no matter which location.

Negative experience: AVOID THIS LOCATION!!!! The front desk is very rude and arrogant. I went to gym with my husband first time since he had pass for me but the lady at front needed physical ID. I had copy of my driving licence in phone but still she kicked us out. I bought a membership online right away and again she still rejected to let us in. I moved to Calgary trail location and they were totally fine with photo ID on the phone. Totally waste of time on Monday morning. Won't come back to this location.

Negative experience: Really expensive, plus a $50 enrolment fee lol and you have to sit with a “trainer” to get sold on a package of upgrades. Just wanted a price. Stupid

Negative experience: Staff don't care about the place they work at, people dropping the weights, slamming machines, has been broken equipment, guess why , staff do nothing about the people misusing equipment, if the aray dont care why should the users, upstairs is small a small area and is way to sectioned off, to many sectioned of areas even in the main floor , always have to wait for space meanwhile the sectioned off areas are empty

Negative experience: Was here back in april. I visit edmonton often and i will not attend this location again. Has everything you need but is dirty. The gym is in serious need of being cleaned. You should not be able to see dirt around the equipment or under it.

Negative experience: This location should have been turned into the Fit 4 Less rather than the Millwoods Town Centre location. It's noticeably smaller with fewer machines and benches. This location could have used a renovation, repair and clean-up (especially the showers) before closing the other location. So far it's doing the job of being a gym for me while the Fit 4 Less opens, but now I remember the reason I originally left this location many years ago. Maybe in the interim, hire the cleaners from the MTC location, they did a great job.
Negative experience: It was a beautiful Monday morning. I decided to bring my dad to the gym for the first time at Goodlife Tamarack location since I have a free trial pass for him. I wanted to show my dad what the gym looks like here in Canada. He was very excited, and we even took a bus from Mill Woods all the way to Tamarack since I don’t drive yet. We arrived at the gym, and I spoke to the General Manager named Brent. He said someone would help us. A staff member came to assist us, and I told her that my dad is new to Canada and would like to see what the gym looks like or if he can use one of the treadmills since he doesn’t know how to use any of the equipment. Then the lady asked for a piece of ID. I said I did not bring his passport, but I have a photocopy on my phone. She said she would ask her manager. The lady came back and said unfortunately, he can't use anything at the gym because they require a piece of ID. I said that is okay and I understand. Since we took a bus, I asked if my dad could sit and wait for me instead, and she said she thinks that would be fine. So we entered the gym, and my dad is sitting in the corner. Suddenly, the General Manager named Brent came out from his office and spoke to me that my dad can’t be inside since he doesn’t have any physical ID with him. I feel bad for my dad, and it’s very ignorant of that manager to do that to him. So my dad ended up taking a bus to go home.

We do have check in procedures for our gyms to ensure the safety and security of our Members & Staff. While we do understand your concern, it does appear that the Manager did follow our proper procedure by asking to collect photo ID. Unfortunately we are unable to allow entry to our gyms without it. We hope that you and your father were able to return and check out the gym together.
Negative experience: I call one of the staff members for trainer prices, he didn't had much knowledge and didn't spoke over the phone properly and hanged up the call without notifying. So, rude. They need to show some professionalism as a Goodlife employee, felt like i was talking to a random guy who knew nothing about the plans.

Positive experience: This is a decent GoodLife in the city. Staff are nice, but you don’t see them upstairs much in the weight area, but that could also just be my times I’m there. The set up is kinda cramped up stairs but they do manage to fit A LOT up there which is impressive considering the space given. When it’s busy, it definitely feels busy because of this. Change room and showers are always spotless so kudos to the staff keeping it that clean. 3.5/5 if I could give. The layout is its only issue really.

Negative experience: The person i signed a contract with for the monthly fee to be withdrawn once a month they were charging me by weekly when i contacted them they said i have to come in to change that when i went in and changed it the assistant manager asked me to come back again and signed again once the approval from the head office comes back which I think it’s a waste of my time to keep coming there all these many times over something they made a mistake on their end i do not recommend this gym to anyone

Negative experience: The sign on the building says 24 hours. Disappointingly, this is not the case. Completely understand changing hours due to the pandemic, etc., but the signage should also be changed to reflect this, as it's false marketing. Ended up sitting in my car for a half hour between 5:30 and 6 am because the sign is wrong, completely ruined the start of my day/week.

Fantastic experience: My recent trip to Edmonton brought me to GoodLife Fitness…Tamarack location. I was staying for a week and wanted to maintain my fitness regime. My usual gym was no where close so I decided to give this a try. I’m very happy I did. The facility was large, had state of the art equipment and all the amenities a gym goer could want. It was properly staffed and cleanliness along with sanitation were above par. I will however say the one thing that made my visit was meeting JC. From the beginning she ensured I was taken care of. She explained the philosophy of the gym and GoodLife Fitness goals to its clients. She was friendly and spoke to me as a person, not just a member. We shared laughs and ultimately is the reason I will be switching my membership to GoodLife. Although JC is in Edmonton and I’m in Calgary I hope to run into her again. The world needs more people like her. Thank you to the GoodLife Family. I can’t wait to start using your gym. Stay safe, stay well and stay kind.

Negative experience: This Gym used to be 24 hours and now it's not, plus they removed the daycare center cause of Covid. This gym is small to begin with, and during peak times it's even busier and the upstairs is almost impossible to use during those times. I'll keep my $80.00 and buy a treadmill and weights and won't renew my membership because of the hours. There is nothing special about this gym so why give them $80.00 a month for what to run on a treadmill. There Are no perks when spending this kind of money. Sorry, Good Life but you lost a long-time customer.

Negative experience: I had paid for a membership here, however when I went to cancel it because the prices are outrageous, I was told by the Black lady working at the front desk that I wouldn't be able to refund my membership until the gentleman who set me up with it, was back on shift and literally turned me away without a refund. Went to another GoodLife location and had my refund literally within a minute of walking into the building. No, you can't change my review, you can't change my mind, if this is the way you want to conduct business, then you can Rep it, I'll also be returning periodically to edit my review to ensure it stays at the top so no other customers are duped into this bad practice.

We can confirm that we do allow any associate to help cancel an account, regardless of the reason and not requiring the original associate who created your account. Negative experience: It does the job but the equipment is always needing maintenance and there’s definitely a lack of equipment compared to the other gyms. Definitely has the vibe that this is a gym for beginners. Also the plumbing is broken in the mens locker room, and saunas aren’t cleaned. Would definitely recommend they invest in some equipment. UPDATE: Don’t go here, I signed up for a gym that was 24 hours not a gym the closes at 10pm on weekdays and 6pm on weekends. Until this is corrected I recommend going to GoodLife Calgary Trail.

Positive experience: It is a good gym with a wide range of useful equipment. Members tend to be polite and stay out of the way, unless you ask for assistance. The trainers could be more approachable but maybe that is just me. Main issue is this location has fewer squat racks and bench press stations than other Goodlife gyms. So during peak hours it can be hard to get time with that equipment because it is a popular location. I would want quieter music in the locker room but that applies to all Goodlife locations. And this one is not nearly as obnoxious with the music as the Southside one

Fantastic experience: They have a good variety of equipment at this location and the employees are all friendly and professional. Said is such an amazing trainer he is very enthusiastic and helps you reach your goals. He can aid people of various skill levels and likes to work on imbalances in the physique.

Fantastic experience: Great staff and a great place to work out
Fantastic experience: This location is the best, not because it has the most equipment or the biggest facility. It’s the staff! Particularly two woman that work the front desk. Their positivity is infectious and make me want to come back each time. They take the time to try to learn every member by name. They get me motivated with some small chit chat or just asking where have I been if a missed a day or two! They are constantly cleaning equipment and making sure everything is in the right place with an encouragement of support to push myself harder at the same time! Thank you Kelly and Jo! You make this gym not like any other!!!!!!! Can’t give more stars than 5!

Fantastic experience: The manager Said Abdo is amazing. I have been trying to get healthy for years; and it wasn't until I met Said that I was finally able to achieve my goals! He took it upon himself to help me; and made me actually want to go to the gym! Thank you Said!

Negative experience: Staff is ignorant . Place is always packed and you need to sign in 2 days prior to secure a spot. Worst gym in edonton right now.
Hey Gurpreet, we appreciate this feedback. Booking was implemented at this location due to the club traffic. With booking this allows you to secure your spot ahead of time so that you are not having to wait outside for your workout. We would suggest speaking with the club manager further about the associates you encountered, so that they can follow up further.
Positive experience: The gym should open at 6am on Saturdays too Cuz majority of members works 6days a week. So we need to workout early in the morning .
Fantastic experience: The gyms cool and all but the reason I'm giving 5 stars (and even writing this review tbh) is that the front desk staff are AMAZING. Especially Dan, and this one asian dude, i forget his name (my bad homie), but they're sooo good at their job. I've seen Dan re-rack weights (the barbells with the weights attached to em on the pyramid thingy) just to put em in ascending order. He's always checking the cleaning solution and paper towels, always got a smile on his face, always been super nice. Keep up the sick work guys!

Fantastic experience: My first workout back at the gym since before they closed. I picked this location because Its always clean compared to a different location I stopped going to. I was anxious about going and I wasn't sure how I was going to feel about going. But the experience was great gym was very clean and had lots of sanitizer, wipes and signage making sure everything is wiped down before and after use. Staff was great, I'm very happy to be back

Fantastic experience: Love the variety of equipment at Goodlife Fitness. Front desk staff at Tamarack is welcoming, friendly, and helpful. I finally took advantage of the complimentary PT session. I really admire Said’s genuine passion to help people. I learned some new things which was great. He’s very knowledgeable and doesn’t treat you like a “sale”.

Negative experience: Worst customer service ever!!! Manager I think his name was Neil was so rude!! I had been a member for a year and needed to buy a monthly pass to finish my personal training sessions and they made it so difficult to do that! I was going to renew my corporate yearly membership but due to lack of professionalism shown by Neil I decided to change my gym. NEVER EVER AGAIN AT THE GOODLIFE TAMARACK!!

Negative experience: I saw on my bank account last night that I was being charged for my membership, even though I haven't gone back to the gym since it reopened. When I called to ask why this was happening, the girl who answered(tamarack location in Edmonton) was short with me, asking if I've had my account frozen? I wasn't sure what that meant, only that I hadn't been back to the gym and was now being charged. She then told me I received an email back in June stating that you have to freeze your account or you will be charged. Nope never got an email. So after her telling me it's probably in my junk mail, I had her check which email address I gave. She checked and said that they don't have an email on file for me so she guesses I wasn't notified. They just started taking money for a service I can't use. I asked the lady to check if other payments had been taken, she said payments started coming out on June 24th, even though clubs didn't open in Edmonton until June 28th! She did not explain this payment very well, just that they take money on different day's of the week and this was my pay schedule? If you want loyal customers, like myself(member since 2012) to feel confident, safe in your gyms, communication is very important during a pandemic. You could have sent out a letter or a phone call if you don't have someone's email, not just start taking money from their account. I'm still not sure why a fee was taken a week before goodlife opened in my area. To me this is a shady practice. They are probably taking money from other members accounts without notice as well. I thought you would have to go into the gym to reactivate your membership, that would have been a better practice. I was given a number to call for member services and we will see what becomes of that. They are only available to call M-F 11am-3pm.
Negative experience: I’ve been going to this GoodLife for a few years now and it has always been great! More often than not the employees are kind, helpful and friendly. Kelly on the other hand disappointed me greatly. I called 5 minutes before the club opened to cancel my booking. I was told by Kelly to call back in 15 minutes. Since you can get penalized for missing a booking I decided to call back in five. When I did Kelly informed me he can’t cancel my booking because it is already after six. When I asked if he could cancel my bookings for Thursday and Friday due to not feeling well (don’t want to spread anything) he told me to go on the APP and do it. Very poor customer service and communication. I’m sure you’re a fine guy Kelly but I did not appreciate the treatment. Hope you learn from this.
