Our comment from FitFit Canada about Crunch Fitness - West Edmonton Mall:
Crunch Fitness - West Edmonton Mall is an affordable fitness center offering a variety of equipment and a friendly atmosphere. Many members appreciate the supportive staff, mentioning individuals like Arjun and Olivia for their exceptional customer service. The gym provides numerous fitness classes, making it an attractive place for anyone looking to improve their fitness journey.
However, several reviews indicate that there are significant areas needing improvement, such as:
- Equipment maintenance issues: Users have noted broken machines and a lack of timely repairs.
- Customer service complaints: Many members have reported difficulties in canceling their memberships and unresponsive staff when issues need addressing.
- Cleanliness concerns: Some users mentioned the facility could use more attention regarding hygiene and upkeep.
Despite the criticisms, the community aspect and affordability continue to draw many individuals to Crunch Fitness - WEM.
Crunch Fitness - West Edmonton Mall: Opinions
Positive experience: The membership is pretty cheap, it has just about everything you'd need in terms of free weights and machines. Unfortunately there's definitely a few issues, the weights are never organized (getting rid of the weight trees was a straight up bad idea). Sometimes machines will break and not get fixed for months on end. They've improved on the last point which I will give them credit for. The locker room smells pretty bad. I've been going for about 4 years and one of the hand dryers in the men's locker room has been broken nearly the entire time. You pretty much get what you pay for. The downsides are small but there's a decent amount of them. If you can overlook the downsides it's a pretty solid gym.
Thank you for your feedback and for being a loyal member for the past four years! We appreciate your positive comments about our affordable membership and equipment variety. We're actively working on improving our facility, including the organization of weights and addressing maintenance issues. We have placed weight trees back as this was temporary. Your concerns about the locker room and hand dryer will be taken seriously as we strive to enhance your experience at Crunch Fitness, West Edmonton Mall. - John (GM)
Fantastic experience: I have been a regular at this gym for many years now and it’s had its ups and downs but the one thing that has remained constant is the staff. I’m always grateful for the interactions, as they are always pleasant and genuine, but I need to give a shout out to a few individuals in particular. Fran has been my trainer for many years, he has extensive knowledge from not only a fitness standpoint but mental as well. He has worked tirelessly with me to help me overcome many obstacles, whether it be nutrition, overcoming mental roadblocks, or injuries I’ve sustained over the years. He cares a heck of a lot, and truly wants the best for his clients. He’s incredibly patient and understanding, and even when you’re feeling your worst he’s got your back to get you through it. I would recommend him to anyone, always. He is amazing! John Henry is also awesome, he’s not only a super nice guy, he’s working really hard to make the gym better than it has been in years. It’s coming along and his efforts have already made a difference! Recently, these two helped me sort out money that was coming out of my account that I couldn’t account for. I hadn’t noticed until about a month ago, it was such a low amount and I thought it was one of the membership fees I pay but something wasn’t adding up. This goes all the way back to when my son was signed up for the gym in 2021. We had originally planned on him training with someone for sports. We cancelled before it began because the school training program would already take a lot of his time. (He still had the membership though, so I must have assumed that was his fee.) Fran worked with John to sort out what was going on behind the scenes and discovered it was never cancelled from the beginning. Normally, most people and companies would say, “well you should have said something earlier, we can’t do anything”, but John worked really hard with the folks at head-office and was able to give me these sessions all back for my own use. To say that I’m grateful for this, is an understatement. John and Fran really had my back. I truly appreciate this, no other company and their staff would work this hard to help me like that. It’s definitely above and beyond! A final shoutout goes to Adeja, who is always in a great mood, and is super personable. I’ve seen her on many occasions go out of her way to help people. It’s the little things that make a difference! Going to the gym is so much easier when you’re greeted by warm welcomes, happy faces, and people who genuinely care
Thank you so much for your heartfelt review! We’re thrilled to hear about your positive experiences with Fran, John, and Adeja; they truly embody the supportive community we strive to create at Crunch Fitness. Your feedback not only motivates our team but also reinforces our commitment to providing exceptional service and care to all our members. We look forward to continuing to support you on your fitness journey!
Negative experience: On any day she works the evening shift until 10:45, she always turns off the lights to signal that the store will close at 11:00, but this puts me in danger when I’m exercising and the lights suddenly go out
Negative experience: This gym chain tried to open a location on the north end and I signed up for a deal before opening and they took my money and never opened. Called all the way to head office in the States and still never got my money back. Shady
Hi Sydney
Thank you for sharing your experience, and we’re sorry to hear about the challenges you faced. However, it seems there may have been some confusion. Our location has never operated in the North End, and we have not tried to open a gym in that area. It's possible your concerns are related to a different gym chain.
That said, we understand how frustrating it can be to experience billing or service issues, and we'd be happy to help point you in the right direction if you need further assistance. Please feel free to reach out to me directly if there's anything I can do to help you further.
Best regards,
John Henry (GM)
Negative experience: Employee working there had a super sassy qditude very un welcoming
Fantastic experience: Great gym, clean, well-managed, and the staff are always friendly and helpful. Really appreciate the positive vibe.
Hello Saif Elmansoury, thank you for taking the time to share your experience about Crunch Fitness West Edmonton Mall! Customer satisfaction is our top priority and we are happy to hear that you are enjoying the gym!
Fantastic experience: I’ve registered to crunch twice. The first time I did do the kickstart but ended up falling out of it. I rejoined over a year later and that’s when a new person had changed positions and became the General manager. I’ve been going since! I’ve witnessed the new manager John opening and doing multiple things without other staff there!! he was able to help me even though you could tell he was very busy already, which I admit is very impressive for one person to do on their own! The environment is welcoming and I feel more supported on my health journey. I’ve met some amazing and inspiring people through crunch and would definitely recommend checking it out!
Thank you very much for taking the time to leave your feedback! We appreciate your support Katelyn!
Positive experience: I’ve been a member for about 2 years. A dollar a day is such a deal. Until recently the gym was ok. Hard core guys early later after 4 busy. They have gotten new managers in the last two weeks. What a difference a GM can make in a business. Cleanest I’ve seen it. Always on time at the 5 am opening. All the lights work and the equipment all works. Ask for John
Casey Obyrne, We are so grateful for your kind words. Our team takes pride in serving you and the Edmonton community with quality and great customer service!
Negative experience: Khadija I think her name she doesn’t know how to speak respectfully
Negative experience: They need to fix the schedule of your gym, weekends open at 7am mostly they open at 9am and they need someone to call them to open the gym, it’s not cool.
Christian Paleracio, We value and appreciate all feedback as it helps us continue to strive to be the best in Edmonton. We invite you to call +1 780-540-8900 to discuss your experience further with management.
Negative experience: This place is a joke. The gym is supposed to open at 7 AM — we waited until 9:30 and the doors were still shut. No staff, no notice, no apology, nothing. Just a complete waste of time. If you can’t stick to your own posted hours, don’t bother running a gym. People rearrange their schedules to come here, and this kind of careless, lazy behavior is unacceptable. Get your act together or shut it down.
Antony, We take all feedback seriously and we’re truly sorry you did not have a better experience. Please contact us so that we can help rectify the situation at +1 780-540-8900.
Negative experience: I’m writing to express my concern regarding an issue that occurred on Saturday, June 21, 2025. I arrived at the gym around 8:00 AM, only to find the doors still locked. Despite the posted hours indicating the gym opens at 7:00 AM on weekends, it remained closed with no staff present. By 8:30 AM, approximately 15 members were also waiting outside, clearly expecting the gym to be open as scheduled. Many of us, myself included, plan our day around being able to exercise early in the morning. The lack of access not only disrupted our routines but also resulted in a significant waste of time. It’s disappointing that no communication was made and no staff were available to address the situation. I hope this matter will be looked into seriously to ensure it doesn’t happen again. It is very unprofessional.
John Dy, Thank you for sharing your feedback. Please give us a call at your convenience so we can discuss your rating and experience further. We look forward to speaking with you. Communication is key to success.

Fantastic experience: Saturday june 14- most help i have ever gotten anywhere !shes so sweet - she had to deal with a rude customer prior when I was there and she handled it the most professional way any one could. That and patient. I don't know if I could have been !hahaI learned something today . thank you for being so welcoming and polite.
Negative experience: I briefly came back to this gym at the start of 2025 until April cause it was more convenient than looping back around to my main facility due to scheduling. I'm going to be detailed just to help the folks who enjoy researching/making an informed choice. PROS: - most basic plan: $10/m + maintenance fee ($62.99) , roughly $180 something a year - standard bodybuilding gym, has all the essentials for 95% of people. - Shockingly no membership cancellation issues this time around but more on that at the bottom. - Staff was fine. Just scan the barcode and move on with your life. CONS: - Locker room hygiene situation is bad, like fruit flies/gnats around the sinks bad, like only ONE working hand drier bad, like only one working yet leaky soap dispenser bad, like washing my hands and touching the tap here might actually have given me MORE germs bad, etc. - You will run into equipment availability challenges if you are someone trying to follow an exact routine with specific machines - you might wanna re-evaluate unless you got lots of time to kill. - I can't confirm it, but I was definitely smelling something like vinegar in their spray bottles. IF true (and big IF) , I would not want to be gymming here during flu season. Basically in the day to day of going to this place. Hygiene is going to be the only real issue for some. If you can overlook it cause you don't think that hard about these things - you'll be fine. NOTES (neither for or against): - There is one staff member named Brandon or something , dude is a consummate professional (smiles, remembers names, tidying the place frequently) , give him a raise. - The music taste , I had fun with it but not everyone is a hiphop head so just a heads up. - It's "cramped" but in a cozy kinda way , generally speaking it never got so busy that you couldn't find a corner or a space to stand in for standard bodybuilding workouts. - The vibe: Peak hours is like a teens nightclub/bar with weights. Some people actually like that for socializing , others don't so to each their own. Outside of peak hours - very chill, everyone mostly keeps to themselves even if you know people. If you are an athlete or someone who trains functionally, this is a gym of last resort , there is SOME space to do stuff in the studio room but it just doesn't feel right in this gym as a whole, like your tip toeing around things than having space to breathe. Like who wants to do pullups in the cable station or between two squat racks especially when its busy? REGARDING MEMBERSHIP CANCELLATION How it worked in my experience: Lets say you get billed your regular $10/m on May 15th, If you cancel on May 16th you'll get charged again on June 15th as a final "f**k you" Fee i guess lol. So even if you stop showing up May 16th onward be ready for credit card charge on June 15th , now they if bill you JULY 15th - THAT is when you have a problem and have a right to be pissed. For full preventative measures (and I regret even having to write this but I can't stand predatory practices in this economy): - change your credit card on file in the app to some prepaid credit card with like $25 on it or something before you walk up to cancel. - In the example above , cancel on May 14th , then your payment on May 15th will be the last one , nothing on June 15th , so there should be no confusion going forward. - Lastly make sure that a cancellation form is sent to your email , this is your proof you requested a cancellation AND that it went through their system properly. This confirmation form DOES exist, if any staff member is playing coy or looking at you funny for asking for it , point them to this review and the photo attached below until they take the goddamn hint you aren't leaving until you see an email with this pdf attached. 2 stars until they fix the hygiene + cancellation headaches that others go through. Gym itself was fine tho for 95% of people.
Thank you for your detailed feedback! We appreciate your insights on both the pros and cons of our facility, as they help us improve. We're sorry to hear about the issues you experienced with hygiene and equipment availability, and we have worked on these concerns. Your positive note about our staff member Brandyn is also appreciated, and we'll make sure to recognize his hard work!
Fantastic experience: Not gonna lie, probably one of my favourite gyms in the whole city. Great value, non -committal but trust me when I say you’ll wanna keep going back. The team ensures a clean gym, and they do a great job uplifting people coming in. I’ve always had great interactions with staff and gym-goers alike. Today I had to cancel my membership because I moved and it was a very quick process. Though I may have had to cancel for now, I’ll be back when a closer location opens up! Huge shout out to their current acting manager as he was great for communication and made everything super easy today!
Thank you very much for taking the time to leave your feedback! We appreciate your support!
Negative experience: During my last visit, I had a disappointing experience with the lady at the front desk. I came in today hoping for a better experience, but unfortunately, I was met with the same kind of attitude, except the male Staff who talk to me first , but this time from the manager. He raised his voice while speaking to me, which felt completely uncalled for. That kind of behavior doesn’t make customers feel welcome, and honestly, it seemed like he was dealing with some anger issues. On top of that, he informed me,rather bluntly and not so politely, that they would freeze the membership for a few months if it’s not being used. I’ve read similar comments from others, and now I see why. I really hope management takes this feedback seriously and works on improving their customer service

Negative experience: I didnt wanna do this but I have to. I signed up for the free trial that was offered online and called them to inform I am not interested to continue and was guaranteed I shouldnt be charged. I got charged and called about it, the lady I spoke with over the phone was rude and unhelpful. I went there in person and this manager Eddy was useless! He couldnt do anything, couldnt help and also made me feel like it was my fault. Kept repeating there is no record of me calling to cancel, its an online thing, im obligated to pay, there is nothing be can do. I left very angry and frustrated. I had to call my bank to dispute the charges and went thru the hassle of cancelling my credit card because I couldnt remove it online and this Eddy guy cant do it either - basically my card was stuck in the system for continues charges. With all the concern i laid when i went there I was under the impression he understood that I did t want the membership and just assumed he cancelled it, guess what?? I had to email him hours later to ensure its cancelled and only then I got a cancellation email. Ive never been more frustrated and disappointed, literally felt like I was scammed big time!!!! Dont ever sign up with these guys, not worth it and totally piece of shit dealing with such incompetent people!!!!
Positive experience: Cheap monthly memberships but the gym is in poor condition with broken lockers and sinks and showers that smell and are never cleaned properly. You get what you pay for. Also there have been a few times when they do not open on time on Saturday and people are left waiting outside the doors.
Negative experience: Nice helpful staff and wasnt smelly or too hot but everything else sad sad not maintained btw planet fitness and fit4less are same price
Negative experience: I’ve had a membership in the past with them and currently. I honestly regret signing up a second time with them. They use incredibly push tactics to get you to try and keep your membership when you want to cancel. When I cancelled the first time around I was medically unable to work out and wanted to cancel the young girl at the counter tried to tell me all the reasons I should keep my membership and to go against doctors orders. This time around I’ve decided I don’t want to continue paying for a membership I’m not using currently, but do you think anyone will respond to any emails or calls during business hours listed online? Nope, all they want is your money. You’re better off going to a gym that doesn’t just look at you like a dollar sign like they do.
Negative experience: I really hate to do this as I love Crunch Fitness. I’ve been to a lot of Crunch gyms that set a high standard for the fitness industry. This gym is a disgrace to not only the Crunch brand but the fitness industry. This gym is not the way a Crunch gym is supposed to be. The gym is dirty. The gym has lots of differed maintenance. Holes in the walls. The equipment is old and not operating efficiently. The locker rooms are disgustingly. There is no room to move. The personal trainers don’t even know how to train properly. There is nothing motivating about this gym.
Negative experience: “If I could give zero stars, I would. The staff at Crunch Fitness is completely unhelpful and unprofessional. They show little to no interest in assisting members, whether it’s answering questions, addressing concerns, or maintaining the facility. The customer service is non-existent—you’re better off figuring things out on your own. On top of that, the attitude from some employees is downright rude. With so many gym options out there, I’d recommend avoiding this place and taking your money somewhere that actually values its members.”
Fantastic experience: Last week we stayed at the West Edmonton Mall Inn and were given passes to Crunch Fitness in the West Edmonton Mall. We absolutely love the place! The front staff were super friendly, lots of equipment, and the gym was clean. If you are in Edmonton, I would highly recommend this gym!
Negative experience: I'm so thankful I didn't buy a membership without going in for a free trial first. The first thing I noticed was how dirty the gym was. It looks like it hadn't been mopped in ages, the benches in the ladies locker room were filthy. There was a whole row of ellipticals that either weren't on or didn't work. Only a few treadmills in one row. There were a lot of people in there working out with the weights but I couldn't get past how gross it was in there.
Negative experience: Was waiting for 20 minutes with a few other people for opening. It's unacceptable guys. Very unprofessional and very irresponsible Edited: 9:12 and I am still waiting for the opening.
Negative experience: This gym honestly was decent and the community was nice but i should’ve just gone to planet fitness or something like that. They over charge you and make it so obvious they just want your money. Before the girl there used to be so sweet and then when i went to cancel i noticed she was just cold towards me. Also it was not well kept. Everytime i had to use the bathroom there was never any toilet paper. Like i needa take a dump from all that protein i been consuming. Also soap dispensers never worked either. also theres always trash in the lockers. Don’t go to this gym unless you got the money. And this isn’t just some Karen complaint. Im 19 and i don’t really care much but damn at least meet the basics you know?
Negative experience: This place is an actual dive!! Lockers are so gross. I actually brought my gym bag back out to my car because I was worried about bugs. The showers had literal piss and hair in them, For the first time in my life the thought of showering made me feel dirty. Won't be coming back.
Positive experience: Very good value of money and solid amount of equipments and the staff are friendly! I'd give it 5 stars if there is some boxing bags I hope management see this review.
Negative experience: The manager was very rude and judgemental he was very intimadating there were flies in the mens locker room and a few of the light bulbs were out
Negative experience: The manager is very judgemental and rude
Negative experience: For the most part it has all the equipment I need for a good workout. Although sometimes paper Towel dispensers are not kept filled up on a timely fashion. They also insist on playing loud music and seem preoccupied with that than anything else. The previous staff I would see mopping the floor and walking the floor. The current staff hardly does that. I don't know how many times you have to tell them to please turn down the volume. For me it's suppose to be a gym not a night club. Other than that if your serious about getting fit , this gym has more than enough of what you'll need.
Negative experience: I Would honestly rate zero stars if that were possible because my experience was so awful. I Wouldn't recommend this place to anyone, from what I've seen there have been several other people who have had similar issues with Crunch WEM so learn from us and save your money. Please contact me if you want details.
Negative experience: They really need to update their gym hours. It says the gym is open at 5 but noone opens it.
Positive experience: WHY CAN'T THEY FIX LEG EXTENSION MACHINE ☺️
Negative experience: DON,T GO THIS PLACE, this is worst gym I ever been I been out The country i put my account fress then they told me I miss a payment one month then they start charged me every months late fess for 6 months when I want to the gym they said only way to waive late fee is sing new agreement and the price will be the same Don’t sing there bullshit agreement don’t recommend this place it’s scam
Negative experience: Very very disappointed they never open on time 5am. They should set key fob. If you don’t have good employees.
Fantastic experience: Brandon at the front desk was extremely polite and very helpful. He was upfront and honest with me about canceling my membership and for everything sorted out!
Fantastic experience: For the price of the membership, I think this gym is well worth it. Also, having the WEM parking lot is a big plus.
Negative experience: This gym location used to be Gold's, where I was a member, and I've continued as a member since it transitioned to Crunch. Unfortunately, there’s been a steady decline in upkeep and maintenance. There are numerous ongoing issues here: cleanliness is poor, soap dispensers aren’t refilled regularly, urinals are often out of order, and the hand dryer has been broken for over a year. Many lockers are broken, and even with locks, they remain accessible. While I understand the gym is affordable, that shouldn't excuse the lack of basic maintenance. Today, November 3rd, 2024, was the tipping point. The gym opened 2.5 hours late due to a "mix-up" on who was supposed to open. I notified staff that 25 people via phone call were waiting outside, one of whom had been there since 7 am. With the recent time change (DST) 7 am is now 8 am, so they were well past their opening time. After expressing these concerns to three different staff members, each admitted that issues with cleanliness and maintenance are known, citing new management due to a recent shareholder change. One staff member even acknowledged that Crunch charges such a low monthly rate that it affects their ability to afford cleaning, repairs, and overall improvements. As of today, I've canceled my eight-year membership (five with Gold’s, three with Crunch) and joined a competitor that offers a cleaner, more customer-focused environment at a similar price. If management doesn't invest in basic upkeep, they'll continue to lose members. I’m very disappointed in the current manager, Eddy, and his ability to run this gym efficiently. It’s clear he doesn’t have what it takes to manage this location successfully. In my opinion, Andrea, the former assistant manager, was far more effective and customer-focused, and would have been a much better fit for the role. As someone who has been a member here for many years and seen many managers come and go, I can confidently say, Eddy, you’re not the right choice for this position.
Negative experience: Absolutely terrible experience with this gym! I've been trying to cancel my membership for over a year, but it seems impossible. I moved to another city and have sent countless emails and made numerous phone calls, but no one ever responds. It's clear to me now that this gym is a total fraud. They make it impossible to cancel your membership, trapping you into paying indefinitely. Do not, under any circumstances, become a member of this gym—you’ll never be able to cancel your membership!
Fantastic experience: Ben Heinaut is a great trainer! I needed his help to prepare for a volunteer bridge build mission and he helped prepare me well. He tailored my program to include creative workouts which directly corresponded with what I was doing. The gym has a friendly atmosphere as well.
Fantastic experience: I've been a member for a while and this gym has turned around!! The gym is very clean now and the staff are actually helpful. Ive complained to the manager a few times about things and he listens to the feedback.
Fantastic experience: Amazing
Positive experience: 3 star is generous. Place is dirty and in overall poor repair. Mirrors broken and missing. Doors to lockers busted off and damaged. The heat was the worst part. It was sooo hot in there. Pros: tons of cardio equipment and dumbbells / barbells. The gym was busy even around 5am. I can’t imagine how busy it would be at 5pm.
Negative experience: Can y'all do something about the smell. lol
Negative experience: Liars ..they are not open at 7am !!!! Here at 830 am and there closed...I want an explanation or im canceling my membership!!!!
Negative experience: theres so many things wrong with this place. i hope they close anytime soon cause its trash atp. just do yourself a favor and go to a gym thats actually worth your money.
Negative experience: Workers late to open. This is not the first time this happened too and I don’t usually leave reviews but this is unacceptable. It’s 8am on a Sunday and they open at 7am. An hour late! With over 15 people waiting outside. Crunch has gone downhill, equipment down for months (i wonder where all that annual fee they charge us go), management changed and employees are tardy and just irresponsible! I understand it’s a cheap gym and you get what you pay for but opening on time as a facility for your customers is a basic requirement
Negative experience: Even though I have been to gyms with amenities such as a swimming pool or an indoor track-this is by far the best gym. There is communication of any fee that is incurred and I definitely recommend it. The price is right and the hours are good. Nobody pesters you about signing up for personal training. There are even two Olympic lifting platforms that most low cost gyms don't have. Edit-recently music has been too loud and it has suggestive lyrics. Not everybody brings their own music.
Negative experience: Rude ppl when I call in. Refused to cancel my membership (for over a year). I'm still being charged monthly and an annual fee! I just want to move on. Cancel my membership!
Negative experience: From my experience I am saying, never join with a contract. It was a nightmare for me to break away from the contract. So Gym Manager was very intimidating. IMHO, never even go near to this Gym. All your customer rights will be violated. If anyone needs any details I have all the records (communication/emails) I went through when I decided to break my membership contract.
Negative experience: Alberta the front desk young lady is a snitch. She had nice nails though :) Wanted to use the massage chair after a workout. She asked if I got a premium membership because it’s policy only premium members get that access. I see a lot of people using it and do not get asked. It may be policy but client service/satisfaction is the foundation and bread and butter to a business. Not very business orientated. Edy(the bearded ROOKIE manager and a JOKE) came up to me because Alberta told him the situation. Said if I don’t follow policy he will terminate me. After I told him it’s no big deal and I will go on it when he is not working. After joining up less than a week. The client service is very poor and sad that they cannot accommodate any member, regardless of a basic or premium member. Management should be switched to understanding , professional, client service attributed individuals. Not arrogant, emotional and hostile individuals. They might win some, but they just lost a big one. (That’s what he said.) For 15$ a month you get what you pay for. Men’s change room smells like a#%, some of the equipment is worn and torn. Life goes on. Peace and love.
Negative experience: I would give 0 STARS if possible! Disgustingly filthy gym, terribly incompetent staff. The low price of the membership attracts very odd clientele and it is constantly busy full with young high school kids crowding around equipment. You are better spending a little more and going elsewhere because they won't let you cancel membership either!!!!! THEY WILL OVERCHARGE FOR MONTHS WITH NO WARNING!!! Please do not become a member here I am telling you YOU WILL REGRET IT!!!!!!
Negative experience: DO NOT GO HERE!!! They are nothing but no good scammers, they basically force you into personal training, then after the term is up they continue to take money and will tell you that you haven't paid it all off when you did. Worst gym ever honestly. Don't go here unless you want to get robbed.
Positive experience: I love going to this gym ... Friendly staff and great community ... I'm not the type to complain ... But the music is always so loud and there is no variety to the playlist .. Other than that issue this gym is wonderful
Negative experience: I went in looking for my first gym experience as I am very scared of gyms, and this place ensured my fears are valid. They forced me into a membership I didn’t want by not telling me the cheaper options (even tho I asked 5 times) and on top of forcing me to get one, the entire staff at the front desk made fun of me for canceling it. “Awe did someone bully you into a membership?” -your staff. Here I am a year later paying your gym fees because they just bullied me instead of doing their job and hitting the cancel button! This place is all gym fears in one building.
Negative experience: Do not go to this gym. I have been a loyal client for about a year. First of all they charge an annual $70 maintenance fee BUT THE PLACE IS DISGUSTING! Second, I called to cancel my membership as I am moving away from Edmonton and they demanded I come into the gym to cancel. After arguing I finally obtained the managers email (Eddie) to cancel digitally. When requesting to cancel they refused to refund me the annual fee when it’s only 3months into the year!! I even suggested dividing the fee by each month and paying the 3 months. Then Eddie stated he was “doing me a favour” as there is a 30 day cancellation fee” but he did not charge me for the month of April. Ummm some people don’t know 30days in advance that they need to cancel I.e. ME. They would not budge and will do anything to get your money. Do not recommend a membership here.
Negative experience: Disgusting. The people in this place are all odd, maybe because of their cheap monthly rate they attract the weirdest people. The locker room as filthy and grimy. I would never ever go back to this gym. It's overrun and busy with the most unkempt group of people I have ever witnessed. No one wipes equipment down. I guess I'm spoiled because my home gym has people going around washing surfaces constantly, but I also pay $75 per month. You get what you pay for.
Fantastic experience: I have been going to crunch for over a year now and have no regrets! The gym is affordable - which is high priority as a student - plus the staff are very supportive of your fitness journey. I am especially satisfied with my training sessions with one of their personal trainers, John. He really cares about you enjoying your time in the gym and is very knowledgeable about muscle imbalances. If you are someone who cares about getting the most out of your workouts but don't know how to get there, I recommend training with John! Learning how to properly workout and find something you like doing is worth the price! Great gym, 10/10 would recommend.
Fantastic experience: Great place to workout and have a blast! Definitely recommend for anyone who wants an affordable but amazing experience.
Fantastic experience: Love working out here i come here everyday :D employees are super helpful especially olivia she always has a beautiful smile and a super uplifting attitude and is very attentive to my questions and needs she even gave me and my friends a tour! <3 5 stars ⭐️ if i could give more I would
Fantastic experience: I love crunch in a way where its a community and the staff is always there for when you need them. Crunch is also a great place to workout with friends and family. I highly recommend crunch.
Fantastic experience: very cool place, only inconvenience is that some of the stair masters aren’t working and i have to wait ages for the person to finish to use it. But other than that I really like it
Positive experience: Overall, my experience with Crunch Fitness has been positive. However, today, the customer service lady’s behaviour was slightly less than courteous, which I found disappointing.
Negative experience: The staff are nice. One thing i don't like is their policy. I sign up,but unfortunately i need to cancel it. They explained to me that my next payment will deducted, which I understand. But they deducted again because they said the 1st payment didn't go through. Which i don't understand,my account have money. The worst is they deducted again on my account. And they said they don't do refunds. The worst experience. They need to change the policy. I will never ever come-back and I told to my friends don't sign up here. And they agreed with me.
Fantastic experience: Andrea and Eddie are very hospitable. The gym is tidy and has everything I wanted from a gym. Equipment is good and if you have any inquiries, the gym employees are more than happy to help.
Fantastic experience: Best gym I’ve ever been too, I go every weekday and I’m always greeted by 2 girls named Olivia and Andrea who are super friendly and helpful, a wide variety of equipment and a lot of helpful tips! 10/10 would recommend going to this gym
Fantastic experience: the staff and everyone at this gym are all really sweet and there’s a decent amount of equipment available!! it’s fairly empty if you don’t go after school/ work otherwise it’s pretty packed. the women’s only section isn’t the best if that’s what you’re looking for, there’s a separate area by the women’s locker room but there’s not everything you would need and it’s not exclusive to women as anyone can see in there- there’s a water fountain right by it and there’s often men in the area!! it’s really clean and the people are really nice
Fantastic experience: They are extremely friendly, the managers are awesome and super helpful, tge associate olivia was the best person I've interacted with going to any gym. There so many different options and variety. Very clean and the member are cerdious and treat the gym very well. Lifetime member for sure!
Fantastic experience: I've been going to the gym for 1 year now. I liked it a lot and recommended to my friends. The facility is well maintained and the staff are amazing. Andrea who's the assistant manager is been accomodating and very nice, smiles all the time :)
Fantastic experience: Crunch fitness is a great place to go if you want clean and friendly gym environment.... I've been to several gym places but the staff in here knows their job. Andrea and the staff always help me when I have questions . Great atmosphere ! Highly recommended....
Fantastic experience: I love coming to this gym! am greeted by Olivia who is awesome, super kind, and great with conversation. The members here are so helpful and judgement free. Ben, one of the PT, is also super kind. The women’s washroom is always looked after and never disgusting. I would recommend this gym if you like an easy going and and chill environment. 10/10 love it
Fantastic experience: This gym has a plentiful amount of equipment and a wonderful staff. The people here are all nice and supportive, and they will help out if you require assistance. Definitely a very beginner friendly place. You will make a lot of friends here. I have been here around a year now, and I am most certainly satisfied with this gym.
Negative experience: I was unimpressed for a first time user, visiting from out of town and staying at the hotel associated with this gym. I waited 10 mins at the front desk for someone to help me. I probably could have just walked straight in and started working out without anyone noticing... When I finally did talk with someone who could help me, I was asked ro sign a piece of paper, and told where the change rooms were. Not even a quick tour as to where anything was, and when I asked where everything was, I was only directed to the changeroom once again. Not very helpful at all. The facility itself was clean and well kept though. I am sure the neglect at the front desk is not a normal thing, but I will not be utilizing this facility again when I travel to Edmonton in the future.
Negative experience: Avoid this gym at all costs!!! When I tried to cancel my membership Andrea said that cancellation wasn’t possible and said that my only option is to let my subscription run out and not renew. Recently while checking my bank statements it became clear to me that they: 1. Increased their price without informing me 2. Have been charging my card for 2 years without my consent!!! When I emailed Andrea about the issue she was extremely unhelpful and delivered abysmal customer service!! What kind of gym treats it’s members so poorly and tricks their customers like that? This is highway robbery. Save yourself the trouble if you’re thinking of joining and if you’re a current member, run and don’t look back!
Negative experience: Zero stars, literally dishonest with their advertising, terrible customer service, disgusting facility and terrible attitude overall.. I am fortunately not a member and wouldn't switch to this gym if you paid me.
Fantastic experience: Great place to do all your workouts, can get busy though, membership price is not expensive at all, parking can get tough on busy days because it's at West Edmonton Mall, all for all great place, great costumer service!
Negative experience: Apparently you have to sign a form to “cancel” officially. Crunch fitness has now officially taken $60+ from me because of the negligence of the staff. I was not informed at all about the “30 day cancellation request” until I wanted to cancel it and I apparently still had to pay for that month BECAUSE I didn’t fill out a form. What form??? I didn’t know until just now because at least someone working there knows how to deal with customers.
Fantastic experience: Limpias y Excelentes linstalaciones
Fantastic experience: Awesome staff. Very accommodating as I am in a wheelchair. Great trainers that want to see you succeed
Negative experience: This gym is a health hazard to the public. It used to be much cleaner now it’s the most disgusting gym in the city. All of the mirrors are dirty and never get cleaned You can’t even take a selfie in this place. The men’s fitting room has fruit flies everywhere. The sinks and toilets are dirty and smell like raw sewage. You can’t even breathe when washing your hands the smell is that bad. Not to mention the broken soap dispenser, which should have been replaced years ago. Is basic hygiene that difficult to maintain.
Thank you for sharing your concerns, and we deeply apologize for the experience you've had at our gym. We take your feedback seriously, and we're addressing the cleanliness and maintenance issues you've raised, particularly in the men’s fitting room and restroom areas. We're committed to improving hygiene standards across the gym and have already taken steps to resolve the issues with broken equipment and unclean spaces. Rest assured, we are actively working to restore a clean, welcoming environment for all our members. If you'd like to discuss this further or share more specific feedback, please don't hesitate to reach out. I would be more than happy to personally ensure that your next visit is a much more positive one.
John Henry (GM)
Fantastic experience: Andrea, the assistant GM (I think that's her name) did me an incredible solid today and ended saving me $50. She does her job well!
Negative experience: Enjoyed this place until my 1 year membership ended went to go cancel and they charged me $52.45 ( non refundable) and now are telling me that I have to pay an additional $23.05 that will also be non refundable talk about a bunch of con artists
Negative experience: Staff there are okay except for the manager, she is rude. She doesn’t care to help her clients, especially if its for canceling your account. In short, she’s a money grubbing thief. Do not go here.
Positive experience: I have been going since November 2022 and I like it. The facility is clean and I feel safe. I like the staff very much, always helpful and nice!
Fantastic experience: Great location, great price, great staff , very clean and probably the best equipment in all the gyms ive been to . Highly recommend it!!
Fantastic experience: I love the Zumba class very good and friendly staff, awesome equipment’s. More than recommended. It’s the best gym in Edmonton
Negative experience: Your "free" kick off session is them trying to sell you training. They wont give you any information that actually helps you with your goals. They answer the phones about 20% of the time and do not call you back or respond to the online forms. Cancellation is like pulling teeth and they will charge you for another month you don't get to use.
Fantastic experience: I love the environment and a big shoutout to raissa for recommending me to get personal training, every time I walked into the gym she welcomed me with a smile and encouraging words! 10/10 service :)
Fantastic experience: Back at Crunch FitnessWEM AND it’s still a great place . Come play New Years Bingo for great prizes and tons of fun . Jay and Serena at the front are so friendly and helpful . You’ll love it here .
Negative experience: if i could give a 0/5 i would, i canceled my subscription for them charging my account while it was frozen. now that i canceled it they charged me AGAIN for their annual fee. why would i have to pay for 2 annual fees in the span of 2 months? this place is a scam
Negative experience: Terrible customer service experience. Was trying to cancel my son’s membership. Had to speak to four different individuals and seems no body knows what exactly they are doing. Very confusing. Ended up paying annual fees for next year even my son is not going to use it. Disgusting! Don’t ever leave your credit card info with these people… they are literally stealing peoples money
Negative experience: Told me to email them to give them consent to close my account digitally. Their response was I’d be charged one last time then my account would be closed. Yet Ive been charged for 4 months. The manager knows what she’s doing, and what’s she’s doing is fraudulent.
Negative experience: Pretty low level gym unless you like body odor and broken machines. Also bad management. If you leave a bad review their manager Nina might call you and start harrassing you to delete the review. You get what you pay.. nothing is free.
Fantastic experience: At the beginning, I was so nervous to go to the gym. But now I absolutely love it! The atmosphere and the workers are so amazing! I've already referred my partner to start there!
Fantastic experience: I have been to a few gyms ️♂️ but I love the environment at crunch...I used to be 385 pounds I'm now 140.. I am proud to share my weight loss journey with the wonderful staff at this location ♥️ ❤️..come get a membership it's definitely worth the money ...
Negative experience: When i create membership account they told me different rules but when i wanted to cancel my account worker was mad and rules was different.Actually I didnt want to cancel my account but manager was really rude and mad.She is my reason to leave from that gym.She should be more kind.
