Fantastic experience: I recently joined the GoodLife Fitness Sunridge location. While I was shopping around for gyms, I stopped by this location and met the manager, Kar. He gave me a tour and explained all of the facilities in detail. What really stood out to me was how professional, welcoming, and caring Kar was throughout the process. When I mentioned some of the things I struggle with at the gym, he even took the time to show me a few workouts to help. I really appreciate his support, and that’s the main reason I decided to join this gym.

Negative experience: The front staff is rude, lazy, and unapologetic. Only goes to show how the manager trains and how they take advantage. No eye contact, they make it seem like they are better than everyone else. I have noticed they are only on their best behaviour when they get visits from head office, I presume. Don't worry I wont be coming to this club again nor will I recommend anyone else. The photos speak for themselves on the cleanliness of the place which reflects how the staff “work”. I was there for more than 2 hours and that strangers underwear greeted me more than the staff did. In my opinion get all new staff cause this group is useless.

Fantastic experience: I was really nervous about starting at a new gym, but Kaylee completely changed that for me. From the moment I walked in, she took the time to get to know my goals and what I was hoping to achieve. She explained everything so clearly and walked me through the different membership options without any pressure. What stood out the most is how she made me feel comfortable and excited about joining..something I never thought I’d feel at a gym. Kaylee truly made the experience easy, personal, and motivating. Negative experience: The cleanliness at this gym has really gone downhill the last few years. The sauna is always dirty and smells terrible. There’s some sticky residue on one of the walls that’s been there for 5-6 months. The locker room has towels everywhere. Members constantly stuff towels underneath the sauna door which makes the smell unbearable, and unusable. It is pretty pointless to mention it to the staff as they do nothing to prevent it or keep up with cleaning. I’m not entirely sure why it isn’t cleaned more often and rules regarding the sauna aren’t enforced. It’s unfair to members that are paying for a membership and follow gym guidelines.

Fantastic experience: Heylen is amazing! When you have a specific goals she creates a wicked workout plan for you and helps you achieve your target. She monitors your progress and isn't afraid to push you a little further when she knows you can do it. She's a great motivator! When I first started at the gym I was nervous. I was never a gym-goer type of person. While working with Heylen, I have gained comfortability with attending and rather enjoy going now. She has helped me not only by achieving my goals but also by building my confidence.

Fantastic experience: they let me bomb the workout
Negative experience: The equipment is nice. It is a clean gym but the reason I gave it one star is 1- Their staff is rude, they never greet, never even smile and standing there like they are statues. 2- This is the issue with all the GoodLife gyms is that they have most unfit people hired at their reception. Basic requirement that should be to work at a gym is you gotta be fit and people should be motivated by looking at you, not that you are extremely overweight. This is a big failure from GoodLife. You can love your body as much as you can but if you are not fit you are not eligible to workout at a gym. Moreover even their trainers are not that fit.

Fantastic experience: Really good atmosphere and feels very clean. All the staff are very friendly and kind and make you feel safe regardless of what time you come in. I really would love to see the turf zone area improve and have Calisthenics Equipment with Ball Accessories like the other GoodLifes out there to be able to do some wall balls, dead man hangs and weighted body exercises.

Fantastic experience: I joined GoodLife in December 2024 to get working on my fitness goals and I started training with Mark in January. So far it’s been awesome, he’s been pretty patient with me explaining what workouts work for me and my goals and answering any questions or doubts I may have. He also has been helping me push my limits and I’ve seen a lot of improvement in the way I look and feel in the past few months I’ve been training with Mark. Negative experience: I don't ever want to have anything to do with this cooperate thieves, not even to recommend them for anybody, they are just after your money, once they have access to your account, you are done, after my ugly experience with them in Toronto which affected my credit moving to Alberta I thought they are different here, not knowing they are same bunch of irresponsible trained exploiters, it's all over for me with whatever they call themselves, for me they are nothing near anything good not to talk of life

Fantastic experience: Ive been training at this location with Tiago for a long while now. Tiago is a fantastic trainer, super encouraging & positive, makes my workouts fun and they don’t feel like a chore. The staff is amazing , very welcoming and friendly. Negative experience: As others have already said, this gym has gone down hill quite significantly in the past few years. Anyone who has been a regular here for some time would agree. Broken machines don’t get fixed. All of the TVs in the free weight section have been broken for at least a few years. Things are falling apart including wall panels. The floors are covered with dirt and dust, evidence that they never get cleaned. Even on Monday mornings when they open back up the gym is a complete mess. The no outdoor shoe policy doesn’t get enforced which adds to the dirtiness of the gym. And the worst part is, people have been emailing management with their concerns and nothing gets resolved. In fact, complaints have started to get ignored. I hope management at this gym improves and starts to take action on making this gym great again.

Negative experience: I feel so frustrated coming to this goodlife lately. We are all paying so much money to come here (even more in the past years with price increase), and when we come in it feels like everyday there’s more broken machines that never get fixed. There were 5 machines alone today broken and some of them have been broken for weeks with no end in sight. It’s been what feels like at least a year since the main TVs in the free weight area have been broken and they never get fixed. Machines that aren’t technically broken are on the brink of breaking (missing grips, broken pins, loose cables, ripped leather on the seats) and it feels like there’s never any maintenance done or even deep cleaning done anymore. For months if I go to the washroom there’s a leaking toilet and then the others are either plugged, covered in urine, or even worse. Not only has the quality of cleanliness gone down, but the care of the equipment and the repairs made. I’ve gone to this gym since 2018 and when I first came here I saw people cleaning and maintenance people repairing things, but now I never see any of it, yet my membership is more expensive than before. GoodLife has enough money to be able to keep up with the damage and repair, and if you can’t then stop letting others use the equipment incorrectly. There was a review similar to this a few months back and after the review all the broken machines were repaired…we shouldn’t have to leave a negative review for the equipment we are paying a membership for to get repaired in a timely manner. Please do better.

Positive experience: Sunridge Good life fitness: PLEASE CLEAN THIS GYM IT IS DIRTY!!! Treadmills are covered in dirt, dust and who knows what else. Floors tile have so much gravel, hair and dust it is disgusting. Sign says 24 hours, but it is not. I do find there is too much cardio equipment and not enough bench. Equipment is decent, generally do have to wait for a bench. Staff are nice, men's locker room and showers are well kept. Certainly wound be a better experience if it was kept clean.

Fantastic experience: Absolutely the best decision I ever made was walking into GoodLife and meeting Rup – the membership wizard who somehow took me from a guy nobody respected to a walking legend. Fantastic experience: I came into Goodlife Sunridge and had the pleasure of working with Rup. Rup was incredibly warm, kind and welcoming. She helped explain the memberships in a simple and transparent manner. She then gave me a tour of the facility and her extensive knowledge of the equipment and fitness was immediately evident. I was hesitant to walk into a gym for the first time as it can be quite intimidating, but Rup and Goodlife Sunridge gave me an experience that I would recommend to anyone.

Fantastic experience: As someone who gyms 6 days a week, I wouldn’t choose any other gym. I love the atmosphere and the equipment here is very clean and well maintained. The staff are super friendly and easy to talk to especially Rup, shes super friendly and helpful when it comes to any questions you may have. Definitely recommend trying this gym out!!

Negative experience: Large illuminated sign, that can be seen for miles, says 24 hour. It is not. Showed up at 5am Saturday morning for a quick session before work to find out that it does not open until 7am. No problem if you are not 24 hour but stop with the false advertising.

Negative experience: The amount of broken equipment right now is genuinely unacceptable with some equipment (the hack squat for example) being down for literally months. This is downright theft as we still pay full price yet we have like 70% of machines available to us. We should be paying 70% our monthly amount. I truly counted close to 10 broken machines at least today and some have been weeks. This affects everyone and just queues up other machines with longer lines. You need to repair equipment faster or I will be cancelling. Also, the vast majority of gym goers here treat people and machines with 0 respect. Why do you let people stand on the shoulder press machine and use it as a shrug machine for example? Why is this not monitored and enforced, it’s been a joke recently. Please get this gym back to a base level of operation like it was for the past year as this place is rundown and literal fraud in its current state.

Fantastic experience: After being fed up with injury after injury I decided I wanted to get a personal trainer to work on strength and mobility safely. Tiago was amazing. He listened to my goals and catered to my limitations due to injuries. He explained everything in a way that was easy to understand, which really helped me when I was working out on my own. I'm incredibly happy with the progress I've made over this past year and I have him to thank! I've never been stronger or felt more confident and capable than right now. I highly recommend Tiago, especially if you are recovering from an injury. Tiago is the best!

Fantastic experience: I have been coming to this gym for about 6 months, It is a great place to workout and enjoy your time. Staff is always helpful, talkative and friendly. Place is kept clean as best it can based on how crazy busy it gets. Morning workouts are the best! Lots of space and area to do a variety of workouts. Living the goodlife! No plans on changing anytime soon.

Negative experience: Not bad. The kids that work there on the weekend do the bare minimum for work. Some patrons have never heard of deodorant and are down right obnoxious. It can reek. Too much cardio. Not a lot of weights. Maria, Roxanne, Meghan, and Chantelle are fantastic instructors

Negative experience: I came into this location after signing up online for a corporate membership. I expected to be given a key tag or something and then be on my way to start working out. Immediately though, I was sat down with someone who started pushing personal training packages on me. It was awkward, uncomfortable, and I felt pressured into choosing one of the starter packs. A few minutes later, I was scheduled to have my first session with Jose Delgado right then and there. We talked about goals, he took me to one of their machines they have to scan for body fat/muscle mass, we did a few exercises and then the rest of the time was spent on him persuading me to sign up for a personal training subscription. Most expensive mistake I have ever made, I went with the 3x a week for a year subscription. Computers were having issues, even the electronic signing pad wasn't working properly, and all I can remember is that I was given no contract to look over, but understanding the subscription as a one-time purchase like the starter pack was. Obviously I'm an idiot, and after 3 months I only realized it when I was declined entry at the front because of the accruing debt on my member account. Goodlife had depleted my floundering bank account, taking biweekly payments of that $400 I thought was a one-off. Customer service won't care about your financial circumstances. Jose won't either. Here are some of the things he's done for me since I've been trying to cancel: •ask me whether I had a medical condition that would disqualify me from participating in the gym •reject the official doctor's note I provided (due to high risk pregnancy) stating it was insufficient to waive the fee •let me know about the policy changing on August 1 that would bring the cost down (initial cancellation fee was 20% of the entire subscription, policy change is 15% of the remaining balance) •let me know he could look into waiving the debt on my account after I paid the cancellation fee •tell me he is unable to waive the debt, call customer service to work something out with them So here I am looking at $5,000 down the drain. Even with the cancellation fee being adjusted to the 15%, I have to pay more than the initial amount Jose told me about. And that's because Goodlife continued to charge me through all this back and forth with Sunridge and customer service. If you're a newcomer when it comes to gyms, avoid Goodlife. They have emotional manipulation down to an art form. They'll scam you and lead you on, and then at the end of that just say they're sorry it's not the resolution you were for hoping for. And this Goodlife location will hide behind excuses that head office has their hands tied.

Negative experience: This is a horrible place. Do not sign anything without first seeing the whole contract and being given a paper copy. They will scam you. They will obtain an electronic signature from you and slap it onto the most obscenely expensive contract they can, and then tell you once you've discovered their lie that you have to pay a 20% buyout fee to get out of their "mistake". They will try to steal as much as they can from you. Hose Delgado will scam you. If their computers are down and they can't actually show you the contract they're talking about just leave. Be very wary of this gym. And corporate won't help you either, the whole company is bad. Take your money somewhere that actual humans work at, people who care about making sure you have a good experience and charge affordable prices for it.

Positive experience: I've been to about 7 different goodlifes in Calgary, and this is so for my favorite. Very large square footage, equipment is updated and repaired frequently enough, and doesn't usually get too crowded.

Negative experience: I loved going to GoodLife, this gym was super nice, but I cannot put into words how terrible the customer service line for GoodLife, or the understanding for serious illness lacks. I was struggling with some personal illness and had my card declined due to other payments taking over during this illness, when discussing this with one of the GoodLife workers they told me they’d reach out to their manager and to contact customer service dude to the gross over charge because my charge had been rejected, I had to wait 9-10 days for a response, causing me to have to pay another month of my membership. When I instead contacted customer service and was told in honestly the most disrespectful way, she said “figure it out”. I have never experienced such poor customer service from a literal customer service line. I have worked in customer service, and understand that sometimes it can be difficult ( felt as thought I was very honest and respectful) she was so willing to treat me like trash, ignoring every question I had, and when I asked to talk to someone who could better answer my question she implied that I was a lost cause and seemed annoyed with me. I don’t want this to come off as I was taking her words out of context as again I have worked in both phone customer service and in person, but never have I ever dealt with such derogatory and inappropriate communication from a customer service line. In summary, find somewhere else to workout unless you want to deal with the abuse through the phone that is goodlifes customer service line. Believe me there are way better local gyms!!!

She is the best personal trainer anyone can get, not just to build muscles or loose fat but also for motivation and healthy lifestyle guidance. Positive experience: Staff are great but there seems to be way too many pieces of cardio equipment. So much space wasted on equipment not being used during the busiest hours of the day. There’s just too many people at peak hours and I feel like they could accommodate some of that rush with properly equipping the gym.

Negative experience: I used to come here all the time and preach about how it was the best club in the NE. I haven’t been to this location for awhile and since decided to try it again. This was a bad experience. Firstly, when I walked in, my hands were full and trying to finagle my scan tag was a challenge. Usually the “motivators” are happy to assist other struggling customers, instead just watched me struggle and not help myself, or my sister with her QR code. Secondly, I understand it was peak time when I went, but there is not enough benches. To the point where people are tapping me on the shoulder during the middle of my heavy set to ask when I’m done. That’s terribly disrespectful, albeit pretty dangerous, but it’s not their fault. GoodLife needs to renovate and better utilize the dead space in this gym, just like they did a beautiful job with the Deerfoot city location. There is a hugely growing community in the NE and GoodLife needs to ultimately focus on another location or two in this sector of the city. The sheer traffic at both NE locations is unbearable for many. Men need a third place in the NE where they can workout. At best, a renovation to this location which extends the free weight section would greatly alleviate the amount of people in one space at this location. Condensing the unused turf zone and cardio equipment would also help. I just wanted to throw some ideas out there, because my experience tonight truly was a shame. These locations become absolute nightclubs. This is the closest location to anyone east of the airport and has arguably some of the best machines in the city (aside from the plate loaded locations).

Fantastic experience: Just started at this gym a 3 weeks ago and was the first time ever using a gym. The staff is very helpful and full of nice people using gym most don't mind if you ask questions. Would highly recommend this gym. My only con on this gym is I wish it was open 24hr everyday.

Fantastic experience: This gym isn’t as nice as some of the other locations. However, the staff here are great. The blonde lady at the front in the mornings is always so happy and friendly and says greetings to everyone as they come and go. Most of the other locations the front just keeps doing their own thing as you come in. It’s definitely a nice start to your workout to encounter someone so welcoming and friendly.

Positive experience: I've been going to this location for over a year, I love it for the most part. Staff have been nothing but amazing each time I've come in, doesn't matter the time. My only 2 issues are the fact that there is no tanning and that it's not 24 hrs everyday. Sucks having to drive to deerfoot city or northland for the tanning.

Positive experience: Has great space, parking is a breeze, not too busy even during peak times. But the male locker/ washroom/ sauna maintenance is appalling. Almost puked walking into the sauna last night, if cleanliness is maintained could be a great gym.

Negative experience: Gym is good but the culture and service is not good. People working here put you under immense pressure to buy their plans and personal training programs. At this point I don’t think their priority is the persons health but they just want to sign contracts!
