Durham Ultimate Fitness Club Bowmanville

Fantastic experience: 0 stars for the grumpy woman who runs one of the fitness classes..I wasn’t in the class but was in the studio alone doing a workout with a set of dumbells when she came in to set up class ..she kept staring at me and giving me dirty looks then absolutely scolded me for not wiping down the 10lb dumbells when I put them back . We go here to relax not get yelled at. She was so rude it was crazy. I’m all for wiping down machines , mats, but I think back in 1998 we all collectively agreed we can let a dumbbell slide and it’s not worth yelling at people for not wiping one. If you want to be the wipe a dumbbell police atleast be NICE. 5 stars for literally everything and everyone else! LOL.

Fantastic experience: One amazing gym!! the second you walk in, the whole staff is wonderful and welcoming. They have so much equipment that other gyms near by don't have and trust me I've tried all of the gyms here in bowmanville. This is by far the best one!! and another thing that they have that other gyms don't is a boost bar!! they have amazing drinks and good food options so definitely make your way there after a workout;)

Fantastic experience: Durham ultimate fitness is such an amazing gym! My family and I just moved to Bowmanville earlier this year and immediately joined. It’s a family and close friend run business, so much so that everyone smiles, says hello and remembers your name. The equipment is amazing, everything you need for a good workout and the facilities are extremely clean. I wouldn’t hesitate to recommend Durham ultimate fitness to friends and family… or even a stranger.

Negative experience: I’m having the same issues with all the negative reviews in regards to being charged they’re trying to charge me with 1100$. I’m gonna find everyone of these people that dealt with the same issues get a group lawsuit and call some media channel and try and get this blown up so they stop doing this.

Negative experience: Scam people by purchasing them with a one year membership when they come to cancel during trial period, do not recommend and be very careful when signing up. THEY ARE UNETHICAL

Fantastic experience: Hello, This gym is amazing. The second you walk in behind the counter they have very welcoming staff. I’d like mention JACE and Matt. Great staff and they make you feel welcome every time. They both greet you with a smile and ask how your day is going. The gym is clean, amd so are the change rooms. The steam room is awesome extra perk. The last thing that sold my son on joining this, gym was the protein bar and all the different protein balls. They all have been delicious! I have been to many gyms over the years of my fitness career and this is by far the best one yet.

Fantastic experience: I just finished my work out this morning and the staff attended to a man in need outside in the parking lot. Homeless or not the staff came outside, he had been laying on the ground, it was wet, his clothes were wet and he hadn’t eaten. To say that this gym is fantastic is an understatement but to see this type of kindness and concern for another human being was truly amazing. They took him inside and made sure he had a smoothie or something to eat. Man, there is still hope in humanity. Bravo Ultimate fitness for showing the ULTIMATE compassion for a person in need. Positive experience: Friendly and helpful staff, decent membership rates, always making changes for the better here. I’ve been a member for over a year now and over that time I’ve seen constant change with equipment, services, renovations, etc. I wish this place was a little larger. Peak hours here is extremely crammed and usually makes for longer workout times due to having to wait for equipment to free up. My overall experience with this gym has been positive and I would recommend it to anyone.

Negative experience: MUST READ******** WARNING: Absolutely Ripped Off – Shady and Unethical Business Practices I went into Durham Ultimate looking for a simple day pass. I was told the day pass was the same price as the month pass, so it just made sense to get the month. Fair enough. Then I was walked through a contract and explicitly told I could cancel anytime. Based on that, I signed—only to find out later that what I signed locked me into a full year of payments. I've now spent two months trying to cancel. Every time, it's a nightmare. They dodge responsibility, refer back to the fine print, and basically say, “Too bad—you signed.” I was pressured into signing something under a completely false impression. I was flat-out lied to. I never would’ve signed a year-long contract if I had been told the truth. What they’re doing isn’t just shady, it’s unethical. Misleading customers into long-term contracts by telling them they can cancel anytime is a disgusting business practice. Extremely disappointed and honestly angry. I’ll never go back, and I’ll warn anyone I can to stay away from this place.

Fantastic experience: I absolutely love Durham Ultimate Fitness! The atmosphere is incredibly friendly and supportive—not just from the staff, but from everyone working out there. From day one, even as a total beginner, I’ve never felt out of place. I spent about 12 weeks training with a personal trainer to get comfortable with the equipment and better understand different exercises and routines. Tyler is an absolute rockstar—supportive, knowledgeable, encouraging, friendly, genuine and funny, too! He truly cares about your fitness journey, and it shows. He’s been an amazing motivator and a huge part of the progress I’ve made so far. As I continue working toward a healthier lifestyle, I’m super grateful to him for always pushing me—so I could learn to push myself. The gym has tons of equipment, and different areas for classes, lifting, etc., which is awesome. That said, it can get a little tricky to access some machines during peak times. Occasionally I’ve noticed groups hanging out around equipment without actually using it—but that might just be something that happens at most gyms. All in all, I can’t recommend Durham Ultimate Fitness enough. The gym, the staff, the trainers—everyone’s amazing!

Negative experience: Not a very trustworthy business. The 5 star reviews are clearly to build this place back up, after years of ripping people off. You have trainers who don't even know what they are doing and capitalize off of fake reviews to boost a reputation that was never good to start with.
