Expérience positive: The place is clean. The machines are typically in good shape. Staff seems to be making a better effort to acknowledge and greet guests. The sauna situation is an ongoing joke. It's either luke warm, out of service or staff is arguing with someone about throwing water on the rocks lol. They should put up hooks on the wall around the weight room floor, because everyone's bags and hoodies are all over the floor anyway.

Expérience fantastique: Not new to LA but new to the Whitby location. Tiffany was warm and welcoming, giving me an exceptional tour of the location and making sure I settled in comfortably. Would use this location again mainly for the milieu Tiffany created for me. Kudos to management for recognizing and hiring exceptional customer service.

Expérience négative: This main gym is pretty clean and the equipment is pretty good, but I am disappointed in the rules for the female change room. Women wear their dirty shoes and workout clothes in the sauna (one manager said it was okay to to this and one said it was not okay), people also use their cell phone in the sauna and change room and it says not to do this, but I told one manager and she did nothing about this. Safety and cleanliness in the change room is important to me, but it is not important to some members at this gym and one manager.

Expérience négative: I’m visiting from out of town and had my worst experience at an LA Fitness location to date. Unfortunately, my interaction with Tiffany left a lot to be desired. She was cold, avoided eye contact, and seemed completely uninterested in ensuring a positive experience for me as a guest. First impressions matter, and this was not a welcoming or professional one. While I typically enjoy my visits to LA Fitness, this location fell short of the standard I’ve come to expect. I hope the team can work on improving customer interactions to create a more inviting and respectful atmosphere for all members and guests.

Expérience négative: Richard at the Whitby location declines to discuss membership fees over the phone. He says the only way to find out is to come in person. Was a really shitty service to say the truth.

I did, down grade my stars , just feel like it's appropriate for how I felt.

Expérience fantastique: I've been a member of this gym for five years and I have nothing but good things to say. Staff are warm and friendly and if you have a question or a complaint they respond right away. Machines are in excellent condition and every body part can be worked. We'd all like to see more equipment, but the space is limited and as such they make the most of it. I am especially happy to see the recent addition of kettlebells and medicine balls which have added to my workout.

Expérience positive: Good place to work out, with plenty of machines and good variety as well. This place does get super busy and will not always be able to accommodate your workout at these times (usually after work hours) with quite a few highschool/ early college kid type groups. They severely lack attachments for the cable machines (very annoying...) however the attachments are there but in very low quantity so you'll be waiting for those usually, they should really be putting an attachment rack in that area with more attachments! This being said, staff is great and seems to actually care about keeping the overall gym up to standard. Machines are fixed basically as fast as the parts take to ship. If your looking to only have one gym, I would recommend just have to find the time that works for you.

From the moment we entered the gym for the first time she made our experience at the Whitby location the worst gym experience to ever be seen. If ever thinking about going to a gym please keep Whitby la fitness out of your thoughts with management not being able to be in control and treat there clients with care and manners.

Expérience positive: Good facility with great staff… Michelle and Mike are always welcoming and busy around the gym. The only knock I have is it takes too long to have machines repaired if they are taken out of use. Also, please add some more kettle balls with more weight.

Expérience négative: Horrible gym Leg press both machines are broken. They take so long to fix them and the staff just get annoyed to hear membera frustrations but have 0 issue taking monthly payments. Go to a 24/7 gym like planet fitness 2 mins from here. Overall if a machine breaks good luck

Expérience fantastique: One of the best gyms in the area. I don’t normally leave reviews for places but this club is highly exceptional. I went to Goodlife before switching to LA because it was better for my budget with the exact same amenities, and I’m never going back! The staff here are super welcoming and the female change room is always spotless. The members here have ideal gym etiquette and they are very friendly as well. My favourite part about this gym is the heated pool. It’s always kept up amazingly, same as the hot tub.

Expérience négative: I wish I could give zero stars. I pay more than $650 annually and still most of the machines doesn't work here. Leg extension has been out of service since last 3 months. They don't even know any date or timeline when the machine will be replaced or repaired. One of the worst gym around Whitby.

This place is a real joke and I wouldn't recommend it to anyone I've been coming here for 2 years now, simply because I live nearby, and I feel being held at ransom because am unheard inspite of complaints I've brought forward to management. All they care about here is your money. It's a very low standard gym, if you've been to premiums. Always filthy yet, short of sanitizer on floors, or dispensers not working. Fountains are gross and the one at Oshawa location has been at low pressure for 2 months now and takes you 2 mins to fill a cup, equipment always broken with a sign -scheduled for repair that takes weeks or a month, sauna filthy with spit most of the times, I don't even know if they have any rules in place, because most of the times clients don't share equipment and one may just sit on machine for over 20 mins using a phone, and if privacy is your concern, don't even dare, because no rules are enforced here, as people are always recording others or taking their pictures even in changing rooms. There's definitely a big problem with management as it seems like no staff seems to care at all at both Whitby and Oshawa locations.

Expérience positive: Frustrated that rules and regulations are posted, but I wonder who enforces them? For example, what is considered "appropriate" footwear? Is there a maximum capacity? Sometimes there are 5/6 people around one machine, and if it's a busy time, I can basically assume I won't get access to that particular machine. This can be especially frustrating if you have more than one specific machine, but it's broken. It seems to take a while for machines to be repaired. Thank you to the staff for keeping the place so clean! Also appreciative of the staff who are very welcoming.

Expérience positive: Personal is friendly and facilities are well designed! Although in general terms it is not very clean! (Showers, workout machines, the basket ball court, and mainly the water fountains). Machines are not always working properly! Price could be better!

Expérience négative: I had a very negative experience here. Stephanie, the lady at the counter, needs training before handling her job. My 6-year-old son attends swim lessons here, and after his swim, he was refused a shower in the washroom. Instead, he was directed to use the inflatable changing rooms without a shower. It seemed as though she was treating the water usage as her personal expense, not LA Fitness'. It's disappointing that LA Fitness, as a large chain, struggles to hire staff with good customer service skills. It's time they upgrade their employees to understand what real customer service entails. My son had to return from the pool wet and cold without a shower. When I asked Stephanie if there was a way to provide feedback or file a complaint, she simply said no. I've heard others complain about her and the poor customer service. LA Fitness should be ashamed that they cannot provide better customer service.

Expérience négative: Save yourself the trouble and go somewhere else. Been a local here in whitby for a while. The amount of headache dealing with the admin is a joke. - Overcrowded w high school kids - ridiculous bring 2 friends for free policy - Hottub is always out of service and outright nasty hygienically when is working. - Have to cancel in person not over the phone (I live in Toronto so this was a mission). Even then annual fee is a maintenance and non refundable? If you ever talk to front desk the manager (Adam) is a real pain in always finding ways to prevent giving you a refund or being helpful. I and others who write reviews have shared similar themes of poor communication, continuous charges and the expectation to still pay when you ask for a cancelation. - Management is a pain to work with and will not think to make your experience better. Often either inexperienced or just kids at the desk. - Has a HUGE THEFT problem. Myself and my brother’s locker was broken into (separate times) and items stolen. Instead of helping the management only makes it difficult to find the thief often being no help (Adam) to problem in the first place. I had to take measures into my own hand to find the culprit. Real shame… i’ve given this gym so many chances but the management just seems dollar hungry and will not make any changes or upgrades to the facility or experience of its users.

Expérience négative: This is one of the worst gyms I have ever been to. I had to sign a personal training contract when I actually didn’t want it and when I finally agreed I had a personal trainer that left and I had no trainer for 3 months and they continued to charge me saying I signed a contract. I was told things will change and I had a new trainer for about two months and then same issue happened. I have been trying to stop them from taking my hard earned money for a service they never actually provided! This is seriously unacceptable. And when I told them I will not be making any more payments, they proceeded to charge my account even when I told them that since I don’t have a trainer and they broke the contract! Every time I tried to contact them they were always unavailable when I am actually free. I am seriously fed up with this because they refuse to refund the money when I didn’t even have a trainer that stayed.

Expérience négative: This place is really a joke!! There's no value for cleints here. Am one of the many clients that can speak up for the timid and voiceless. The sanitizer/disinfectant dispenser has been scheduled for repair a month now, and not touched but stupid alternative bottles. Every equipment that malfunctions takes them a month or so to repair. There's only one triangle handle, one triceps rope, one incline bench, one decline, yet the place is always full of students that spend hours talking or taking selfies and u have to wait for the above mentioned to workout.

Expérience négative: Sauna always closed with passive aggressive notes posted blaming members and threatening membership cancellation. lol. I haven’t experienced it being closed so often and for so many days each time at any of the other locations. I actually like this location as its kept fairly clean but recently the experience has been unpleasant. Instead of cheaping out and very temporarily fixing the sauna (1 day up, 5 days down), you should upgrade it.

Expérience négative: Gym equipments are not well maintained, even if you report that it’s broken they are not fixed on time. Parking is always hard to find even during non peak hours.

Expérience négative: I'm deeply disappointed with this gym. The management's lack of urgency in fixing broken machines is unacceptable. Moreover, their sauna, touted as a feature, has been out of order for an extended period, and the hot tub is closed more often than not. It's frustrating to pay for amenities that are consistently unavailable. Overall, the poor maintenance and frequent closures make this gym an unreliable and unsatisfactory choice. Overall, the Whitby north location of the LA Fitness is the worst of all.
