Schwartz/Reisman Centre: Avis
Expérience fantastique: Kaya Was so helpful explaining how to setup the app for groupex. I love all the group exercise classes here!!
Expérience négative: I have been a member at this gym for almost 2 years now, and I believe there is a lot of room for improvement. Despite being designated for adult members, the gym is often filled with teenagers. During summer, winter break, and March break, the gym is crowded with elementary-aged children participating in camps and other programs, creating an environment that feels and sounds like a school recess. While the classes offered are fantastic, they tend to fill up quickly. For instance, Alin's class is very popular, and securing a spot requires registering on the app. The spots become available at 8 AM, and they are typically filled within minutes. This can be frustrating for members who are unable to attend popular classes due to space limitations. Additionally, the showers are outdated and are in need of improvement. Overall, it seems that this facility prioritizes profit over the needs of its monthly gym members. Camps and swimming classes take precedence over member lane swims and gym time. Despite reaching out to the management via email, there has been no resolution to these issues. I will continue my membership here because of the convenient location, but I hope that the concerns of the members are taken more seriously and addressed.
Expérience fantastique: Clean facility
Expérience fantastique: Very nice community center and well maintained.
Expérience fantastique: Very good value and easy sign up process and fair pricing. Lots of space classes outdoor pool. The only things I would suggest are 1. Outdoor hot tub definitely have the space for it even 2 of them. 2. towel service would be ideal but cannot complain for the price I think you can pay extra to have towel service just not sure its worth the $20 or $30 extra per month.
Expérience positive: Pretty good facilities and amenities for gym members. I love that they offer an indoor and outdoor pool. Classes are also very nice, and staff are always helpful. Its a very small gym, so not recommended for any intense gym goers.
Expérience fantastique: There is no place like it, especially for our Jewish community, but is also welcoming to all. The staff is exceptional, the facilities are the cleanest I’ve seen, the services, amenities, and equipment are modern, widely varied, and well kept. This team is always looking to improve their offerings and does their best to please. My family and friends are all members and I continue to make new and wonderful acquaintances. I’ve been there from the beginning and intend to stay.
Expérience négative: ⭐️⭐️ DOWNGRADING my review to 2 stars.
Come after the end of your workday for a swim.
Good luck splashing and maneuvering in one of the pool's 3 open lanes among a dozen or so other people, when an attendant comes out and announces that your lane is now closed due to someone's 'swimming lessons' and 'please use the remaining two lanes only'.
If you enjoy feeling like a sardine in a can, the JCC swimming pool is just for you. As for me, I will quit immediately when the new upcoming community center opens in the neighborhood.
Expérience fantastique: Amazing gym
Expérience fantastique: My trainer was very kind and attentive and did a good job of controlling pain along with correction. When I first came, my arm couldn't go up, but after receiving treatment, it's going up well now. I think he's exactly what we need here .His name is CY I like him !!
Expérience négative: Went to the JCC today to renew my gym membership. Upon arrival, I was informed my favorite custodian Ben Aharon was terminated. In the past when I actively attended the gym, Ben Aharon gave me great advice in regards to proper gym etiquette. Ben was so dedicated and determined that he would practice push ups behind the counter to give me a strong sense of motivation. Although they were assisted push ups, it was greatly appreciated nonetheless. I will not renew my memberships until Ben is hired back.
Expérience fantastique: Schwartz/Reisman Centre is an outstanding community hub that offers a wide array of enriching experiences for individuals of all ages and backgrounds. From state-of-the-art fitness facilities to diverse cultural programs and educational offerings, the centre truly embodies the spirit of inclusivity and wellness. The staff members are dedicated, friendly, and always ready to assist, creating a welcoming atmosphere that fosters growth and connection. Whether you're looking to break a sweat in the gym, participate in a stimulating workshop, or simply socialize with fellow community members, Schwartz/Reisman Centre has something for everyone. It's a beacon of positivity and vitality in the community, and I highly recommend it to anyone seeking to enhance their well-being and engage in meaningful experiences.
Expérience fantastique: For the last 3 months, I’ve been receiving recovery and corrective exercise from an extraordinary individual by the name of Cy. His professionalism and expertise is only surpassed by his passion and love for the health and well being of his clients. I, for one, whole heartedly recommend him to anyone requiring his services. He has my unwavering gratitude!
Expérience fantastique: Always a great time at the JCC!
Expérience négative: For some reason 12 and under are not allowed at the leisure swim
Expérience fantastique: A great place with a swimming pool, cafeteria with tasty snacks and cozy daycare where kids are truly pampered with tenderness
Expérience fantastique: This place is beautiful. My baby takes swimming there. Ppl are very friendly.
Expérience fantastique: I was at the jcc center today and had the pleasure of speaking to Victoria and May. They made my experience so memorable and I walked out in such a great mood. Can't wait to come back!
Expérience fantastique: Well equipped and clean gym. Friendly staff. The pool is very clean well maintained.
Expérience fantastique: The facilities are gym are so welcoming and clean. May especially is so friendly and helpful and made me feel very welcome.
Expérience fantastique: The staff is friendly and helpful. They have volunteers who speak Russian. Maybe other languages, didn't require assistance in any other language though. My Russian-speaking grandmother is going to the aquafit program and she is happy overall with the amenities and staff on-site.
Expérience fantastique: Great place with good people
Expérience fantastique: Great pool facilities
Expérience fantastique: Top place
Expérience fantastique: Easy access. Lots of parking.
Expérience fantastique: Music/Art festival happening this week.
Expérience fantastique: Fabulous center to exercise, practice yoga, pilates, zoomba and water areobics!!!
Expérience fantastique: I have been attending Israeli Folk Dancing at Schwartz/Reisman Centre in Vaughan with instructor Riki Adivi since September 2022. The classes are very enjoyable and Riki makes all the participants feel welcome. She builds a beautiful atmosphere of inclusiveness and I really appreciate that. The classes are so much fun with no pressure to ensure you learn all the dance steps right away.
Expérience négative: Do not go here. I went with a paying member as I had a day pass that they had issued to me a few years ago. The pass was signed, with no expiry date. However, I was refused admittance as they "no longer accept those passes" and "it doesn't matter as they have no cash value".
Expérience négative: Pool & sauna here are really nice. Gym is pretty big too and they have lots of classes. *** There are lots of problems though due to mismanagement : Too many kids around, lane swimming is unorganized and not monitored well like there are kids in fast lane playing around which is super annoying and extremely slow swimmers in fast or medium lane. Lifeguards should not be sitting & watching only ! Worst of all is the gym at night time , too many kids out there hanging out at the machines & leaving their stuff for a long time so no one can use it while they're in the other corner hanging out. Definitely gym etiquette problem here which I believe people paying +$100/month expect to see better management at least !
Expérience négative: If I can give zero stars. I get a membership for the family but rarely I can swim there with my kids, most of the time it was occupied with camp or learning to swim group. I pay more just for my kids but I can not use it. It was like cheat mean.
Expérience fantastique: It's a great place for swimming
Expérience fantastique: Great security and parking. Love the pool!
Expérience fantastique: Has everything you need at a price thats lower than LA fitness and GoodLife fitness
Expérience négative: It’s more than 3 months and most of the treadmills don’t have internet or tv connection and nobody cares. Almost I told everyone and I no actions yet. I’m going to cancel my family membership.
Expérience fantastique: Top notch facility. Clean and updated.
Expérience fantastique: Most beautiful, safe, clean and entertaining center.
Expérience fantastique: Great facility for physical activities
Expérience fantastique: Always clean and welcoming. Just wish the food place opened earlier
Expérience fantastique: I like this community center, good condition amenities, gym, swimming pool, sauna, sport classes. Friendly staff, underground parking.
Expérience fantastique: I love it and the trainers are good for personal training. You guys are the best¡!!!!!
Expérience négative: This place is not for children, they can close the "warm" water pool wherever they want at 2 or 4 pm, they don't have any rules, the sellers don't know what exactly they sell, you can't use the steam room and sauna with kids because it's 16+ but it's not written anywhere and the sellers don't know it. Terrible place, don't buy. And also all classes (like yoga) were full , there is no children's room.
Expérience négative: Definitely not a place you want to be when it comes down to community. Aside from a few, management is Atrocious and Abysmal. The way staff is treated and talked down to, but also the way some members are treated shows the true nature of a dictatorship and hierarchy of power. A lot of issues comes from the entitlement of kids running amok here and creating a disturbance, especially when it comes to the gym upstairs where they hop / jump the gate, scan each other in, and even let their friends in through the back. It shows the lack of respect and the lack of actual discipline that’s enforced because their parents are paying top dollar. We as staff get the short end of the stick because the “client” / “customer” is always right, so we get berated while the higher ups don’t even care as you are replaceable and expendable. Communication is poor when it comes down to what things are said and in the timeline that’s said. Onto now the outdated equipments which breaks down every so often and too often, it takes weeks to fix which makes it very inconvenient for everyone, waiting around for machines because there isn’t enough / plethora to choose from aside from cardio at peak hours makes for long wait times. Trainer turn over rates are high as well as there is no track record of a system that shows what was done, assessment reports, progress, etc. So if your trainer left, you’ll be dumped onto someone new like scraps and to start from ground zero, it’s a terrible transition method and a very unsuccessful one when it comes to retention. Not a place I would pay for nor work for again.
Expérience négative: Ok. There is three reasons I am writing this review. First, I have seen how rude the lifeguards talking to minors. Second, the stuff is not properly trained and totally have no comment to talk to the clients all young and untrained. Third, luck of managing and sporting the clients needs. Can’t wait having my money back and just erasing that bad experience from my mind. Never ever try to go there with kids. Also today I saw how they were rude to one pregnant woman who tried to eat some fruit, who was banned and forced to leave the pool being followed by two unpleasant security Guides. It seems they don’t have simple respect to even pregnant women! Awful, can’t find words to describe how it is reflecting to those people who can’t forgive those kind of rude people in Canada!
Expérience fantastique: Great daycare, great pool, gym facilities Fully stocked. Awesome underground parking great for winter. Lots of kids events prior to covid, hope they come back
Expérience fantastique: Amazing centre with amazing staff
Expérience fantastique: Great community center with multiple learning programs.
Expérience fantastique: Since we started going to this centre we experienced very friendly service especially Liz Bitton who always greeted us with a smile and helped us with any assistance :-)
Expérience négative: Joined specifically for lane swim. 6 lanes, of which 4 are closed for swimming lessons. 1 lane is for leisure and the remaining lane is for members. Lifeguards say 5 people per lane, but always more people. Very unpleasant experience as always have to check schedule as people don't book or overstayed their booked slot, and swimmers of varying speed and fitness. They should rather make it just a swimming lesson school and not charge members for a service they cannot provide/ use. A big rip off and money making scheme. Don't waste your money. Complained numerous times to management and nothing done. Ask any aquatic member, lifeguards cannot resolve and management do nothing. Apparently aqautic centre sold to private individuals that runs swim school. Huge disappointment for a "supposed heritage community centre ". Cancelling membership.
Expérience positive: Clean establishment during swimming lessons I suggest that you bring snacks because the vending machine doesn't always give the products.
Expérience fantastique: Great indoor pool! Clean and the staff is very friendly
Expérience fantastique: 33 Inglewood Ave, Thornhill, ON, ON L4J 7V2, CA
Expérience fantastique: Lovely Freindly environment
Expérience fantastique: Excellent , great swimming pool with great staff, thanks this centre for everything, my daughter enjoyed and having great time , thanks for having bilinguale receiptionist liza who advice us this centre I am so happy that I am a member of this happiness.
Expérience fantastique: Love. This is a beautiful facility that is clean, well maintained, great staff and it's a fabulous place to be a member of. Highly recommend!
Expérience fantastique: I went to Schwarts&Reisman Centre to sign my kids for their basketball and pool lessons and I had a very good experience with the staff in the membership desk, they were very helpful and very patient and answered all my questions specially the lovely woman that sits there Liz is extremely nice and welcoming. The whole place is always clean and quiet and there is a good atmosphere every time I go there. Thank you very much Liz and staff we will definitely keep coming to your facility with our family.
Expérience fantastique: Great community centre that runs various sports programs and classes. A pretty nice gym to boot. The staff is pretty helpful.
Expérience fantastique: Excellent facilities. The gym is well equipped and there are a full variety of physical activities. I love Zumba!
Expérience fantastique: I love the centre and the services offered! I used to go there with my children during the program for homeschoolers (Splash and Dash). Much gratitude to the loving, dedicated, passionate, open-minded organizers (Keri F., Stephen G.; Inga Y.; Yuri V.; Elizabeth K.) and the wonderful instructors who really love children (we worked with Horace, Andrew, Adam, Devin). We shall never forget you. Special thanks to the instructors for how they treated our children. My children were encouraged, respected and treated kindly and thanks to such a loving and caring attitude they learnt faster, easier, and were happier, developed skills and had the desire to keep coming. I never liked the tough teaching attitude and having the opportunity to offer them a loving environment was the best thing ever since we moved to Canada. We felt safe, cared for and met beautiful people. It has clean, wide spaces and different opportunities. We felt included even if we came from over 2h away (by bus and subway and bus) and we weren't from the neighbourhood and not even from the community. I also saw that anyone, no matter age, gender, ability, etc. is included and respected (and encouraged). It really is a breath of 'fresh air' especially for someone coming from another country. I feel much gratitude to all who collaborated together to offer our children a unique experience that we all miss and as a mother I couldn't find anywhere else. This is also thanks to A.M., our beloved friend who brought these programs to the homeschooling community where I am part of and thanks to whom we would have never heard of them.
Expérience fantastique: Big center with swimming pool, gym, and many different facilities
Expérience fantastique: Nice community centre for events. Has continued to operate throughout Covid. The staff are helpful and friendly.
Expérience fantastique: It's a gym with their else to say stuff is amazing and nice as well as a security
Expérience fantastique: Really impressed with covid preparations and execution. Organized and constant cleaning. With the lower number of people, actually felt no stress during workout. Don't feel in a rush to come back, I'm enjoying this.
Expérience fantastique: Phenomenal community center with gym and aquatic facilities
Expérience négative: Be careful. They steal money from you without you knowing!!!!
Expérience positive: Best pools and gym in the area, however: 1. Relatively expensive membersip. 2. Due to Corona, the pool can only be visited for a very limited time (45 mins) until 3pm. 3. Super-strict mask policy is annoying.
Expérience fantastique: Beautiful space with lots of amenities and activities. Private, membership based so much better than a typical community centre. The warm saltwater leisure pool as well as the seasonal outdoor pool are fantastic. Always lots going on here.
Expérience fantastique: Its a very clean and resourceful community centre. They have good execercise equipment as well.
Expérience fantastique: It's clean, lots of equipment, trainings, nice pool, intelegent place
Expérience fantastique: Commando Krav Maga class. Great way to provide confidence with self-defense skills to kids and adults!
Expérience fantastique: Great place. There is a very good aquatics department with three pools. The gym is great and there are many activities here.
Expérience fantastique: Wanted to share my experience with one of the personal trainers - Dave. Great guy that is very knowledgeable and takes the time to get to know you and your goals. He really motivates you and frequently changes things up to keep things interesting... I would 100% recommend for anyone thinking about working out.
Expérience fantastique: What an amazing experience!!! BLUMA, at the information desk welcomed us like VIPs from the moment we walked in and spent so much time explaining all the programs to us and answered all our questions with a beautiful smile on her face and an absolutely perfect and professional attitude. Bluma and the rest of the staff at Administration (Including Jessica) were so kind and sweet and my family and I were so impressed that we decided to sign up for a membership on the spot and we are now PROUD members of the SR Centre and we recommend them to anyone that cares for Top Quality, Top Service and an Amazing Atmosphere. This place is like no other, It is called a Community Centre but it is truly out of this world. Keep up the great work and God bless you all. George, Kay & Diana Bassari.
Expérience positive: A very welcoming place. Multiple fitness classes are offered here.
Expérience positive: A good spacious and modern facility
Expérience fantastique: Great cafeteria. Very clutch
Expérience fantastique: Very nice and well organized place.
Expérience positive: Great facilities, but the basketball gym is barely ever open. Very inconsistent.
Expérience négative: Group classes co-ordination issues: great professional instructor’s (Irene) classes got cancelled, replaced with sort of mediocre instructors. Most of body sculpt classes cater young crowd: jumping with weights, not keeping proper poster, etc. -> all that can bring health damage in a long run. Management doesn’t respond to big number of requests, minding it’s own businesses. Absolutely not worth of $100/month.
Expérience positive: Great place if you have a membership. Went to lots of Jewish stuff here ever since it got built. Great facilities, the gym is always good to work out in because its not that busy all the time and the pool is fun to swim in as well.
Expérience fantastique: Beautiful facility. Nice staff and great amenities for the whole family
Expérience fantastique: The best Gym in Toronto
Expérience négative: Dirty water no supervise on people who enter to pool they came with outdoor close to the pool
Expérience fantastique: Clean, friendly, great place to workout by yourself or with friends or family
Expérience fantastique: The most important asset - underground parking!!!! Irreplaceable in winters. Facilities are great and clean as well. Great stuff!
Expérience fantastique: This place is very very nice, clean, spacious, doctors office, swimming pool, a nice place to eat and even has a help desk. Don't feel like other places stuffed like a sardine.
Expérience fantastique: This is a wonderful facility. Our art studio is amazing. Staff are positive and helpful. The building is open and bold. My students are open, hard working and love challenging themselves. As an instructor you don't get better.
Expérience fantastique: Great pool and atmosphere. Well set up schedule on the website helps in planning when to go. Also a nice building with lots of activities making it a good community center.
Expérience fantastique: Great Community Centre. Place is clean , nice to be there !
Expérience fantastique: Great community center, very clean and well organized, gym facility is everything you need and the programs they offer there are great for people of all ages!
Expérience fantastique: Excellent water babies program. At 6 month my grand daughter goes under the water and loves it. The also have an accessible swimming pool. A terrific place
Expérience fantastique: Very nice place with outdoor pool
Expérience fantastique: Great community centre. Really amazing building.
Expérience positive: We've had a family membership since before the center was built. Great facilities - clean, bright, great equipment. Staff is friendly. Wish there were "premium" locker rooms for obviously an extra cost where members can rent lockers vs daily use.
Expérience fantastique: What a beautiful facility for families!
Expérience positive: Busy and supportive community centre.
Expérience négative: I suspect these positive " no comment " reviews, are fake. I have been here 5 years and the place has declined at a break neck rapid pace. The machines are old and out dated and showing their age. I have not seen one new machine in ages. Place is progressively getting dirtier as they rent out their facilities to multiple schools/activities so it's a constant mad house of kids and teens making the place a pig sty. Pool is over packed and closed way too many times. The upper gym has been nothing short of a disaster. If you go early in the day it is "ok" as it's older people. After 6pm it's full of young punks and teens. After 8pm? Forget it. The front staff crank up the music to ear bleeding decibels and allow the punks to run the place. Dancing, swearing, fighting and worse off: Sexual harassment of female members. It's one group of young males (about 10-12) that are friends with front staff who do this. They literally run the place. Throw weights all over, don't clean up after themselves, act like complete and utter imbeciles with no over sight. The place has become a disgusting mess. By 9:30 pm the place is a complete mess. Weights all over, punks with no shirts running around screaming like banshees. The JCC has become unusable and it's been like this for a while despite numerous complaints from members. Staff has let the urchins run the place. Poor management. If this was a discount $10/mth place I would fully understand at the lack of management and clean up but at $100+ per month? No thanks. I'll go somewhere else where some husky fats don't act like idiots WITH the staff (not apart of them, with them).
Expérience positive: Facility is clean qnd staff is very friendly. Lots of drop in classes for kids, toddlers and baby. There is a saltwater pool.
Expérience fantastique: Love the place , keep it up JCC ppl
Expérience négative: Gym is small and very overpriced. If you're looking for a gym to just throw cash at, you found it. The people here don't inspire or drive you to return. Nobody makes you feel better. Sure you can argue that it isn't their job to make you come back and work on your own health, to which I say, yes... yes it is! Go to any gym and no matter how many times you go or how many sessions you miss, you're always greeted with a smile and some kind of encouragement, maybe you'll get a taste of that at reception but further than that, it becomes more of a lifeless room of people who don't really care as much. There are other problems too don't get me wrong, but to be honest, they could be overlooked if the attitude and atmosphere were more upbeat and productive.
