Expérience positive: Attended with the kids yesterday as they wanted the waves. First time I've attended the pool to swim. Steam room closed prolly due to heat which is undertsandable. Lots of individuals swimming in non swim clothing which is inappropriate. Lots of bandaids and long dark hair catching on my fingers. Unsure why hair being tied up is not being enforced. Floor in universal change room was relatively clean. At least 10 people playing water volleyball in the middle of the pool monopolizing the majority of the middle of the pool which made it unenjoyable. Save your time and go to Grandview instead or just swim in your bathtub.

Expérience fantastique: I have been attending the Newton Recreation Centre for a couple of months now, and it has provided me good service. Great amenities, our kids absolutely loved the wave pool. A state of the art gym facility that never gets too crowded even on peak times. Very Friendly staffs always ready to serve you. I also love the mix of fitness class options they have it is like going to your pantry. Would definitely recommend for a night of fun and fitness with the family!

Every time we go they don’t have enough staff and they break the swimming hours into 1 1/2 for unexplained .! I waited 1 1/2 from 6:30 until 8:30 pm to get my turn in swimming and I have work at 3:00 am !!! This is the only woman swimming time Available and I can access! We have sent many complaints and requests but we didn’t get any response . Managers are not available every time we ask for one! Some staff acts like an officers with customers!!! Could someone please put this pool back on track

Expérience négative: Disappointing experience at Newton Wave Pool on May 26. While the facilities were fine, the presence of 4 young men swimming in their underwear (2 in Under Armor briefs) was inappropriate and uncomfortable for a family-friendly environment. Understand that underwear can feel like swim trunks, but this crossed a boundary. Hope the staff will address this in the future to maintain a welcoming atmosphere for all.

Expérience fantastique: Appreciate this place soo much I've never found a place that I can come in the morning workout then have a steam or hot tub and then go work and eat then come after my dinner and work out again and steam I love this place only thing that is there is racism and discrimination in parts the new people think there smart by speaking in languages but we live in Canada so you should be mindful and know just cause sumone looks a certain way doesn't mean they don't know what your saying God Bless the stuff here thank you all

Expérience négative: Very bad experience with Jelly Fish months to 24months babies swimming session. Will never recommend this place for swimming lessons especially for kids. First place the place was so crowded and not organised even after the class time started and our class started late because the pool was already occupied and they had to clear it. The water was not warm and cold for kids, which made almost all babies cry during the session. We and other few parents stopped and walked out of class inbetween. Neither the instructor or the team checked the water before letting the babies into the pool. We even asked if the instructor could check if they can make the water warm or change pool but they were so lethargic in handling it and said they need 24hrs to make it warm. With such experience we cancelled all our sessions with the center.

Expérience négative: Made a one month pass, was not told about not being able to use the pool/sauna on certain days, I don’t use the pool only the sauna for 15-30 mins. Went to the change room after my work out which always takes 50 cents and does not give it back unlike other places but this is not a big deal. The shutter was closed but not locked if the pool is closed for men they should lock it, very easily openable. A life guard came running yelling at me to leave, saying it’s women’s swimming only. It’s not a big deal to me I would have just left but she started yelling at me instead saying how I could not be there. She acted as if the women in there had never seen a man before. If it’s women’s swim day only why not put a note in the men’s change room? And also mention this when people are making a member ship. I used to come here from the time I was a kid, sad to see they upgrading the facility and downgraded the staff. I saw the rest of the comments about how the life guards are inadequate at their jobs. Today I learned they are obnoxious as well. Will be choosing a different gym. I would give it 0 stars if I could but not possible.

No extra time is allowed after the lesson, kids are urged to leave the water--unlike other swimming pools where kids can play as long as they like after the class. 2. Only cold water for shower--kids were shivering; 3. The closet actually charges money!--unlike other recreational centres where you get your deposit back once you finish using the closet; 4. Asked for refund after one class, and was charged $5/kid handling fee. Try avoiding this place for swimming lessons!

Every lesson we went there was a new instructor. Not enough and proper sitting areas for the parents to watch their kids. Very bad management.does not recommend this facility to any body for learning. Total waste of parents hard earned money and precious time.

The chairs and tables which are provided for the parents are too far off from the swimming areas , you can hardly see your kid doing the activities. Very badly planned and the management does not pay attention to make it better for the learning of the kids.

Expérience fantastique: Two slides that are open most of the time. The wave pool is great with good long sessions of varying wave intensity. They have a good play area for smaller children too. Nice big hot tub, and the center is conveniently positioned right next to the Newton bus exchange. Definitely recommend!

Expérience négative: Hi, Today - 09/28/2023, Me and my brother were harassed and racially discriminated at the Newton recreational centre (Surrey) by the facility supervisor named Ms EMILY of the pool department, she racially discrimated us and behaved rudely. Me, and my brother have been coming here for the past 6-months but have never encountered such a behaviour from any of the staff members. The supervisor told us to get out of the pool, although, I was wearing a proper swimwear. She told me and my brother to leave the pool- for which we complied, afterwards we decided to take a hot sauna steam and informed the lifeguard on duty. This supervisor approached us aggressively in the sauna, even though we were about to leave . In the sauna, she started talking inappropriately and harassed us by saying that "you people abrupt the environment" and "I want you guys to get out of here" she also threatened us to call the police to get us trespassed, which is unbeleivable!!! for a senior staff member to say that. I feel so ashamed that we were judged just because of our skin color and appearance. Please it's my very humble request to Newton Recreation Centre that i need justice and want the centre to take strict action against such employee, who has harassed us. We went to the front desk and made a complaint, and one of the staff member (whom we don't want to disclose name) told us that she has an intense behaviour. We will be updating all the information on here too - google reviews. We were told by the other staff member that we will be called for a meeting with the coordinator of the Newton Recreation Centre on Tuesday, October 3, 2023, . I am so concerned about other visible minorities, who come here with friends/family & and kids and how they are going to be treated. This is so shameful!!!!. We are waiting to discuss this matter with the appropriate higher authorities.

Expérience positive: The gym is pretty clean with ample equipments but the problem is the people who uses this gym. Some of the gym goers treats this gym as their personal gym and hog the equipments for hours. For example, you will never be able to use the Lat Pull because someone is using it even though they are on their phone just sitting on the equipment.

This place is good , equipment are easily available swimming pool is not big compare to other rec centers but they have different setting with the swimming pool as mentioned above. Courts are not crowded and they have different martial arts classes as well. In all their yearly subscription is quite cheap for the facilities they are providing.

Expérience fantastique: Went there wtih my family tonuse their pool facilities. We had a great time. Our two boys ( 4 and 2) had so much fun. The water is warm for the kids compared to other pools which can be pretty cols. The wave pool was so much fun as well as the water slides. You have to be 7 to use the big slides but as an adult they are a lot of fun. The price is great as well. Highly recommend!

Expérience positive: This is a great gym, albeit perhaps lacking some machines however they could really improve it by keeping a staff member in the gym 24/7 just like the other ones such as cloverdale and grandview heights. -Constant problem of people throwing equipment whereever they feel like and leaving (such as dumbbells, barbell plates,etc) -Constant problem of people taking things and not putting it back where it belongs like you'll find barbell collars far away from the squat rack on some other machine, people that use barbell plates for exercises put them back in the completely wrong place. Not a tripping hazard but not where it should be either -Constant problem of people hogging the fixed barbells. I use 20-40lb fixed barbells for certain excercises and constantly i notice someone picks up a barbell and and stays in front of that rack while doing bicep curls or whatever and wont move so that other people can take a different -no one wipes equipments. Literally I have seen someone with really sweaty hands picking up a bunch of different dumbells/fixed barbells. the fix is keeping someone there or constantly having someone walk in and do a check. I have complained many times before writing a review and to my knowledge so have others but nothing really has changed

The place obviously had a face lift but is still how I remember it. Really nice, clean and well run facility. The waves are awesome and l highly recommend visiting here.

Expérience négative: It's often to see kids aged 15 and under in their open toes shoes in the weight room! Weight room usually gets crowded with high schoolers from 2:30pm-close.

Whenever I try to ask the staff about swim lessons they even don't do the efforts to check system if there's something available and say no to me. Bed experience

Expérience négative: *I almost got killed !!!* On Feb 5th around 6:30pm as I opened main door to enter the building, an 8ft long metal cover weighing about 40 ponds with sharp edges fell from above the door centimeters away from me. Apparently it was the cover of the electrical panel that enables automatic opening. I was frozen for few seconds in absolute shock. Few guys sitting by the bench screamed and yelled 'you almost got killed man'. They were so right, one more step and I was dead!!! Staff on duty at reception witnessed the accident and no one even asked if I was ok. One short guy in staff outfit walked passed me to look at the fallen panel. He was only concerned about what fell rather then to check if anyone got hurt. Thankfully there were no kids or seniors entering or exiting, else it could have been surely fatal. 15 mnts later I went to reception to check on my lost water container, when a staff in turban asked for my name and number, just for records sake as he had seen what had happened. He said some trainees did a sloppy job on the panel that's why it fell. Wow...What an excuse for almost killing me!!! No ownership, no apologies no help. No one cared. I will report this to media and city of Surrey as well. But requesting all visitors to be extra careful while visiting this facility.

Expérience positive: Too many players last week 3teams played and they' were playing 4on4. I prefer 5 on 5 and it's easier on goalie less shots coming my way I must have received 100 shots I was burn almost no brake in between games so try and fix it to two teams 5 on five. With brakes in between games for goalies. Thanks

Expérience positive: Staff were friendly enough and the poll wasn't crowded. So Monday morning is the time to go if you can! Facilities look older even with a face-lift but they're functional and as clean as you would expect a public pool to be. Only complain was the pool play structure didn't have the water turned on and neither the waves nor the slides were going either. It was still a fun experience but no staff could tell us anything about why they weren't operating and when these things would operate.
