Fantastic experience: I’ve now been at Black Heron for about a year and a half and there truly has been a large improvement in how I can move my body, compared to before. I had tried a few gym’s prior to Black Heron, and trained with a few different trainers but I had always felt like I wasn’t making much progress with them. But since I’ve been at Black Heron, I continue to feel confident in the trainer’s knowledge and background in fitness. I wanted to start learning Calisthenics, and once I mentioned it, Ashley and Jackie were happy to look more into it, so that they could help me achieve my goals. I am now further into the Calisthenics journey and I am beyond grateful for the hard work they have put in to help me achieve my goals and continue to grow stronger. I 100% recommend this gym!

Fantastic experience: I see Lucas for 60 and 90 minute massages. He goes above and beyond and his knowledge and technique is beyond anything I have found in Edmonton over the years ( at least since his dad moved ). Nothing like your average massage therapy. He knows how to assess and target to promote lasting improvements.

Fantastic experience: Functional Movement! These words are very important as it embodies what is done at this gym. We all want to be able to move as we age and get older. Ashley and the trainers at Black Heron are some of the best at what they do. A licensed CHEK practitioner, a unique and specific set of skills to take you from 0 to hero. I was going to the gym for years and eventually felt a lot of shoulder pain, and thought at a young age I would suffer with this for many years. I had an assessment of my entire body completed, a personalized plan was developed for me. Able to move well with no pain, feeling like I can take on the world again. Thank you Black Heron!

Fantastic experience: “I came to Ashley following a really bad low back injury from my kettlebell training. For months I was suffering chronic pain and numbness in my low back, hip and leg that was severely impacting my lifestyle. I had not been able to workout or exercise for several months which was very challenging for me as I am generally very consistent doing so. I was sidelined from practicing and teaching yoga, and I had been on short term disability from work. All the important aspects of my physical, mental, and financial health were severely impacted. I had been throwing the kitchen sink at my injury (physio, chiro, massage etc) and any relief (if any) was always very short lived. What attracted me to working with Ashley is her qualification as a Chek Practitioner. She is certified through the Chek Institute through who I consider to be the king of holistic health and performance, Paul Chek. For over 30 years Paul has trained and rehabilitated some of the greatest athletes on the planet after they had failed to resolve their issues with everyone else. He himself changed my life after being introduced to his content and philosophies. Ashley’s assessment of my condition was incredibly thorough and she was able to measure and pinpoint the causes of my pain and various movement and postural imbalances stemming from both my injury and my 16 year lacrosse career. She devised a highly intelligent, easy to follow stretch and corrective exercise program that slowly progressed over the several weeks we worked together. All the exercises were on a website she gives you with follow along videos after you go through them with her in person at your sessions, and requires very little equipment (if any) By the end of our work together I made incredible progress with my condition and I am currently back to work, back teaching and practicing yoga, and back to my kettlebell training and workouts. Not only has my chronic pain all but resolved, I also feel like I feel I have a better understanding of my body and how to move and tend to it physically. At our last session she re assessed and remeasured various aspects of my posture and movement and I had moved into what’s considered the normal range for basically all the areas I had been imbalanced in when we began. So I had both subjective and objective proof of my improvements. Ashley is a kind, compassionate person and incredibly knowledgeable when it comes to the human body and how it moves. If you have failed to resolve your pain and movement issues and are struggling and frustrated like I was then working with Ashley could be the answer. If you work with Ashley and commit to her programs, I’m confident you will get the results you are seeking for your body and health. Thanks Ashley!!”

Fantastic experience: This place is fantastic. Excellent trainers. Very private and unique space to work out. If you have any nagging injuries, or just want to improve your overall health and well being, Black Heron has the solutions.

Fantastic experience: I have been training with Ashley for a number of years and have found her to be professional and very competent. The facility is spacious, well equipped and very well maintained.
