The Komoka Wellness & Recreation Centre opened in 2011. The facility boasts two NHL-sized ice rinks with nine change rooms. The facility also contains a fitness centre with an indoor walking track and a large gymnasium (operated by the YMCA of Southwestern Ontario), a library (operated by the County of Middlesex), and a number of activity and multi-purpose rooms.
The Wellness Centre integrates many sustainability and accessibility design features. The facility is Green Globes certified (an assessment protocol, rating system and guidance for green building design, operation and management). The Wellness Centre has received Rick Hansen Foundation Accessibility CertificationTM, which is awarded to facilities that go beyond the building code, providing accessibility features for people with varying disabilities that affect mobility, vision and hearing.

Middlesex Centre Community Wellness & Recreation Centre: Opinions
Fantastic experience: Great playground and simple but effective splash pad. Brought my six year old son, and he had a blast, kept him entertained for a good hour and a half! Lots of different things to encourage motor skills on the various play structures.
Fantastic experience: A lovely clean open work out area with lots of cardio machines, free weights and weight machines. Clean Locker rooms with lots of room to change. Friendly staff.
Positive experience: Not too bad
Fantastic experience: Very cool park there is even outdoor workout machines. Amazing
Fantastic experience: Love this splash pad. It usually not too crowded and splash pad is new. Swings and slides and play structures are nice. Lots of parking.
Fantastic experience: Great ice. Doing a good job of keeping people safe and skating during the pandemic.
Negative experience: Would not use ymca if convenience is not a major factor. Extremely high rates are offered for hours that can’t even come close to competing with even fellow ymcas (Stoney creek, Bostwick etc). They close at 3pm on Saturday’s and Sunday’s! It’s even worse if you want to use the gymnasium. During the week, It’s used by kids camp almost completely leaving sometimes only an hour of open gym time usually late at night (8:30 till 9:30). During the weekend if you are not coming early in the morning you might as well not come at all. Many times I have come to find that the gym is being used by a program that was not even specified or shown at all on the schedule. Talk about a waste of a trip. That is the other thing. They will put weekly rentals and occurrences ok the schedule but when there is a one time rental, they won’t show it! Leaving you to come to the y only to find out it is being used by a program that wasn’t even shown on the schedule. They have a teen night on Friday nights open to the public, but it is usually crammed and you are virtually left only to play basketball. Some pros I like about this gym is that it is clean, the staff are friendly and the workout area (though small and limited) has working equipment that is not outdated. They also offer a wide selection of programs, and your ymca membership is viable anywhere in Ontario. Though for the rate that you are forced to pay, this ymca is not at all worth it for someone who wants to utilise an open gymnasium and a large workout area. For someone who wants convenience, and is fine with a sufficient gym for a workout this is for you.
Fantastic experience: My daughter loves the library
Negative experience: This is a very bad for the Kids, I send my kid to this Y after school and I think they didn't taking care of them, didn't check attendance, I sometimes I pick up her without any one come to check or ask me Driver Licence. I lost my kid one time and they said " we are not have responsibilities" . I wonder why we pay a lot of money and we got that answer? No star for this facility!
Fantastic experience: Good place
Fantastic experience: Best for sports and community well-being. Staff are so polite and always ready to help. Several activities for children. Parents/Guardians can drop off children while they use the gym or participate in a large number of activities - from Zumba, yoga, cycling to core training and many more.
