Negative experience: Do not buy a yearly membership at Aforza! You will end up losing $1000 in a year, have zero chance to play in winter, spend a lot of time trying to book courts, get angry in the process.. and then listen to their management explain how this all is considered… “competitive”! Also read the contract really well, it is meant to give you no chance to avoid paying not only 12 months, but actually 14, as the contract self-extends without notice. This is lawfully abusive, great setup for money extortion, Aforza!
Cristian, It seems there has been a misunderstanding regarding the terms of our cost-savings membership, and we’d like to clarify some key points. When signing up for our membership in November 2023, our team provided you with guidance regarding the product details, contract terms, and the benefits associated with your membership. As outlined clearly in the contract, membership benefits include: -Access to Aforza’s facilities for tennis or padel without guest fees -Early court booking privileges -Priority registration for programs and camps -Member discounts on other programs and services Please note: The contract explicitly states that no court bookings are guaranteed. Instead, members receive priority booking with a six-day advance reservation window, allowing them significant flexibility in securing courts. On January 18, you informed our front desk that you wished to cancel your membership, citing unmet expectations for five or more monthly bookings during weekday peak times (4-6 pm), a window reserved primarily for junior programming. This scheduling is standard across 95% of tennis clubs in Canada. Despite this, you were able to secure courts outside of these limited hours and could have accessed courts regularly by selecting from a broader range of times. Upon receiving your recent cancellation request on October 27, 10 months after the original signup, you requested an immediate cancellation effective October 1. However, as stated in the agreement, we require a 30-day notice for cancellations. While we are committed to transparency, providing complete details upon signup, and assisting members with cancellation procedures, we cannot alter terms that were clearly communicated and agreed upon. Our membership is designed to provide flexibility, cost savings, and access to our facilities, and it benefits many members who utilize these privileges in a responsible manner. Our team remains available to clarify policies and ensure a positive experience for all members.

Positive experience: Finally made it to Aforza Tennis to play some indoor tennis. There’s a restaurant attached upstairs, Chefs N Farmers. Good - 8 indoor tennis (6 bubble, 2 building) and 3 padel courts. Courts are in good shape - Online booking system shows real time court availability - Courts are booked in hourly time slots at $25.00/hour + GST - No initiation fee for memberships. Adult membership is $720.00/year. No limit on court booking, but max one booking per day - Friendly staff working the front - $20.00 labour for re-stringing Bad - Extremely poor layout in the bubble to get to your court. The only way to walk through is the MIDDLE of everyone's courts. Never seen this at a club before. Wastes several precious minutes of your court time - For non-members, it's an additional $10.00/person fee. For two non-members, a court booking costs $45.00 + GST for one hour - No out of town membership options - Have to commit to a full year membership (and can’t cancel early) - Ball fluff is everywhere on the courts - Divider nets are poor quality; holes in the net and doesn't fully cover the court openings - Men's locker is cramped Good if you’re a member, not so much as a non-member. 3.5 stars.
Negative experience: I tried to sign up for a class and was rejected without feedback. I called four times and left text messages to the coach without response. I am disappointed that it is so difficult to sign up for a class and there is no urgency to find a solution. I feel like posting a review is the only option to get a response. Edit: Aforza did reach out to me and provided me reasons why my greater than 10 attempts to sign up for a class were not successful; apparently, it was a series of miscommunication and their coach and front desk incorrectly had my profile misclassified. They did note that I am now able to sign up for the targeted class since I posted a review and the issue was brought to management attention.
Hi Jensen Hopefully, you received our phone call and read the email from our management yesterday we have worked hard to find out what exactly happened with your case, and we have a solution for you. We are sorry you feel that writing a negative review is the only way to find a resolution, there are actually many channels one can go through to find solutions. For example, the Our Team page on our website includes the email addresses of all our management and we are more than happy to have dialogue on any feedback. Regardless, thank you for reaching out and giving us a chance to work things out. My understanding is that you were in touch with our coach but that he was unable to respond to your 3 other phone calls, Please know that our coaches spend many hours on court and they all offer the professional courtesy of not being on their phones when working with clients so their availability is quite limited. Regarding your being rejected without feedback; our system is designed to help players, who are signing up for a class, find their appropriate level by automatically disallowing folks to sign up for a class that they would not get the most benefit from. It’s not always a perfect match but we are more than happy to have dialogue with, and reassess, any player who feels the system is incorrect. Fantastic experience: We have only been recently to Aforza during the last month. Our experience have been excellent so far. Aurora, and other front desk personnel were awesome and very patient as my son asked many questions (as he was so excited about tennis). They have all been professional and very helpful! The only thing I wish for, was that they would be cheaper, but I guess tennis is not a cheap sport.

Negative experience: Was playing on court 1 in the bubble and was interrupted constantly with people coming into the bubble. Even the instructor for lessons 15 minutes before the time came onto the court. I sent a note asking for some feedback and received nothing

Positive experience: It’s a good enough place to play tennis in Winter. However, the courts are very close together and if you pull the nets between courts you’re left with very little space to get to balls. You can constantly hit the dividing net if your opponent hits angled balls at you. I think it’s a bit expensive for what the place offers.
Thanks for adding us to your long list of reviews Jose. We have the lowest prices in the province for indoor tennis court fees so I’m not sure how you are calculating us as expensive? Additionally, we offer the lowest pricing on lessons, programs, etc. and we ALSO have the best atmosphere, friendliest staff, and coaches who know how to get results; all in a beautiful and convenient location and with a fully licenced restaurant upstairs. Sure, you can book an outdoor court for just $9/hr but we all know that is not a reasonable comparison as the overhead to operate an indoor facility is incomparable. Maybe your comment is more about what one is willing to pay than it is about our pricing being inaccurate? Regarding the spacing between courts, according to Tennis Canada, we have more than sufficient space to host junior Nationals and Provincials. If that is enough for high-level tennis, then people playing recreational tennis certainly have enough space as well. Fantastic experience: Like it. Easy to access, enough parking space. Clean and welcome staff. Lots of field. Some space for waiting area. Little bit complicated with a kids training classes time. Will be better to making more options.

Fantastic experience: I was quite delighted with my experience at Aforza! The front desk crew was very helpful and easy to deal with. The courts were in great shape and the tennis coaches were kind and courteous when it came to us asking them a question about scoring. Fantastic experience: Great location along the elbow path that has easy parking. Huge facility for multiple tennis classes or tournaments simultaneously. The instructors have real skill and genuinely want to build foundational tennis talent.

Positive experience: This place has no respect for long-term customers. Even after patronizing this place for 5 years, I can't believe the poor treatment I received. Pathetic service. Take your business elsewhere. In addition, it is more expensive than their competitors. They need a management overhaul. UPDATED. I had a disagreement with Aforza over billing. They have now admitted error and made it right. They deserve respect for that.

Fantastic experience: Thanks to Aforza. We had a problem with my son’s lessons. I let them know and they paid specific attention to it and now we can continue our lessons at Aforza.
Fantastic experience: Chef N Farmer the restaurant in the building with Aforza tennis. The food is excellent. We had a burger and bison burger with fries. When I want a Bison burger or burger I will definitely go there. We've had other food there before.

Fantastic experience: I can't say enough about First Serve Tennis Academy or their instructors. I spent this past summer and fall learning tennis from First Serve instructors Zizi and Munachi. These experienced, high-level tennis players, delivered effective, easy-to-follow instruction in a fun and a non-intimidating learning environment. While I took adult lessons, they delivered children and youth lessons with this same skill, fun and professionalism. Whether you are a beginner or advanced player, you will see significant improvement in your skills and your game, all while having a great time on the court! Highly recommend First Serve Tennis Academy (and instructors Zizi and Munachi).

Positive experience: Really appreciated the restaurant in the loft, they had excellent tea and tasty sweet potato fries, the bubble courts are challenging because of the pressure and lighting, and there isn't enough places for spectators. Too much inventory crowding the entryway as well.

Fantastic experience: The Tennis Academy is home court for many of our tennis playing customers. We hear many good things about their activities and programs and we wholeheartedly support their efforts by referring players to their facilities. We are also grateful for the efforts of their staff and coaches who are helping to grow participation in tennis in Calgary.
Fantastic experience: Excellent and one of only two AFFORDABLE options in Calgary. Both my daughters started with First Serve and then moved into more competitive programs. The classes are offered in different locations, great, fun tournament structure for U8 and U9 kids. Communication could be improved but have some patience, every one of those coaches work very, very hard.
