Fantastic experience: Awesome gym! The pricing is great for what you get! Unlike other gyms in Calgary I like how MRU has all the equipment spread out compared to being cramped into one small area. Would strongly recommend. The only con is parking.

Fantastic experience: "She doesn't even go here", I don't attend MRU, my university has a gym I could go to, but this place is SO much better. The weight room, the indoor track, the swimming pool! Perfection!

Fantastic experience: Wonderful recreation facility. Much more than a normal gym (pool, indoor track, squash) and price is very reasonable. Parking is a bit of a hassle/expensive during the weekdays, but evenings and weekends are included with some membership levels. Besides, it’s a gym! Why not walk or bike over??!

Fantastic experience: Definitely a solid place to go work out I’d recommend signing up online as it was very easy. One of the best and most reasonably priced places to work out and enjoy my health and fitness which is one of the most important things that anyone could need so I definitely recommend MRU to anyone that’s looking to go climbing or play squash or work out or sauna

Positive experience: Volleyball tournament this weekend. They offered a day parking pass which was good. Then entry fee for tournament. Subway on campus for lunch took 10 mins to get food due to just 1 staff working. Good gyms with spectator stands.

Fantastic experience: This place has it all, climbing wall, indoor track, indoor Olympic pool, weight machines and free weights as far as the eye can see and the body can lift. So much more and staff that looks after you and all the gear. Sanitizing is non stop and never intrusive. Price is great, easy to get to location, go now for a drop in and get hooked, it's that simple!

Fantastic experience: I have been to a few other gyms in the past and felt awkward and unwelcome. I am a tall, thin woman with troubles gaining/maintaining weight due to some health issues and because of that I feel uncomfortable going to the gym at all. For a long time I just stayed home and did what I could there without equipment. After becoming a student of MRU and getting a gym membership included in my tuition, it took me four months to finally build up the courage to go to the gym. Now, I go at least 5 days a week! Its become my favourite place to go, it's my escape from the rest of the world. I'm so comfortable there and so happy to have access to such a great place! There are people of all sizes, ages, and abilities and it feels amazing to know that I CAN just go and do my best and nobody is going to judge me for it. Finally I feel like I'm not being judged or gawked at when I'm in a gym. I have even had a few people reach out to me to help me correct my form or stop me when I'm doing something wrong, and anytime I've asked someone for help they have ALWAYS been incredibly helpful and friendly! I feel no pressure to be anything other than myself and I feel safe and secure when I'm working out here. There is also lots of equipment and people are super polite when it comes to sharing if needed. Also, it's CLEAN!!! something I have noticed not all gyms have- cleanliness!!! To top it off, there is a good sized area for stretching and a steam room for after a good workout I can't recommend this place enough! I will definitely be purchasing a membership when I'm done school and no longer have one included in my tuition!!! My life has seriously changed thanks to this place, I'm doing things I never thought possible because I hated the idea of going back to the atmosphere I had experienced previously. Thanks MRU!!!

Fantastic experience: Massive gym area, lots of squat racks. Busy during peak hours. Forces you to be creative with your workouts. It could use another leg adduction/ abduction machine as it is usually in use and makes it difficult to for my partner to get a few sets in.

Fantastic experience: I went to this gym the past six years consistently. I started when I was in University and then continued on as an alumni. Only stopped going after I lost my 50% off alumni discount. Overall this gym was fantastic. Thought all staff have been great (and I saw a lot come and go in my years), love the size of the facility, and the new layouts over the years have kept it fresh. One of the biggest perks is when working in the spring/summer, its essentially empty because the students are out of school. Great experience. Great Equipment. Well deserving of 5 stars. Go Cougars!

Fantastic experience: Lifted weights, played basketball, and spent an hour rock climbing, all for the price of a day pass. Great experience here, beautiful gym and awesome rock climbing equipment.

Fantastic experience: Lovely facility with a lot to offer. A lot of equipment so you should never feel like you are waiting too long. Staff are very friendly and there to help, even if they sometimes look a little distracted in there own conversations. Good environment for all ages and genders.

Fantastic experience: Mount Royal recreation has many perks like an indoor running track, pool, rock climbing wall, weight lifting area including TRX area and bodyweight training area. It has drop in sports and lots of free gym time. The community is great and has a steam room and showers. The hot tub is broken tho

Fantastic experience: This facility offers a lot for the price and the yearly membership now includes parking in the early morning, evenings, and weekends.

Fantastic experience: Great facility, lots of space with incredible variety of equipment of both free weights and machines, including a running track and punching bags upstairs. There are also squash courts, open gyms, and a climbing wall in the facility. 8 squat racks! 5 Olympic platforms! Chalk is available to use as well. Memberships now also include a parking pass, valid only 6 am to 8:45 am, and after 4 pm on weekdays, and all weekend.

Fantastic experience: Mount Royal recreation center is among the best in Calgary. Never too crowded, always clean and reasonably priced. The one downside (like all other universities) is that you have to pay for parking! Except for Sundays when it’s free!
