Positive experience: Needs to be open 24/7 again. I’m seeing plenty more reviews saying the exact same thing.

Negative experience: I’ve been a member of Planet Fitness in Pembroke, Ontario, drawn by the promise of 24/7 access, which is a major selling point for many of us with busy schedules. However, the gym’s hours have been significantly reduced, and the most frustrating part? There’s been no compensation, no membership discounts, and certainly no solutions offered. Every time I’ve asked about this, I get the same canned response: “It’s a corporate decision.” But how does that make sense when this location is privately owned? Shouldn’t a privately owned gym have the autonomy to make decisions that actually benefit its members? This feels like a poor excuse to shift the blame instead of addressing legitimate concerns. What makes it worse is that the reduced hours completely disrupt my ability to maintain a consistent workout routine. One of the key reasons I chose Planet Fitness was the flexibility of 24-hour access. Now, that’s gone, but I’m still paying the same membership fees. Many others have echoed similar frustrations, and it’s clear this decision is not sitting well with loyal members. The gym needs to listen to its community and reconsider these changes—or at the very least, offer some form of compensation or transparency about why this is happening. I sincerely hope the owners take this feedback seriously. If we’re expected to stay committed to our fitness, the gym should stay committed to delivering the service we signed up for. I’m not asking for the moon—just what I’m paying for.

Negative experience: went in and bought a membership then got kicked out after i bought it, because i didn’t have “proper foot wear” Took my money and kicked me out.

Fantastic experience: I’ve been to many PFs, and this one is among the best. Friendly staff, large variety of equipment, very clean (including the change rooms, bathrooms, & showers, which is A+). Never too busy when I’ve been there. Well done. Recommend.

Fantastic experience: Amazing people, non judgmental

Negative experience: Worst place ever. Supposed to be a 24/7 gym and it’s not anymore. Staff harasses you non stop about the most minuscule stuff. I once got written up for breathing too loud, literally. There’s always machines that are out of order. Equipment out of order non stop. The men’s urinal is always out of order. For a non judgement zone, they cast the most judgment than any gym I’ve ever been too. I cancelled my membership and built my own gym. I wish I could give them zero stars.

Positive experience: Staff fine. No worries there. MASSIVE complaint on the change in hours. As a subscription based service that suddenly limits our ability to access in comparison to 24/7 is completely unfair to us members who committed to this gym for years with ZERO BENEFIT to us with this change. Old and new customers who find more space and less wait times on the specific machines are hung to dry 3 days a week since 5am Mondays are now busy. The fact that someone decided to reduce the hours to such limited times in the morning is frankly insane. 7am is laughable on any morning. Then even 5am on Mondays is still the most non-customer friendly approach. It’s a weekday and many regulars who go to the gym go before 5am especially in the summer. Where was the thought in this besides damn money in your pockets. Stop putting money first.

Positive experience: Decent gym, temperatures are a little crazy sometimes. New hours are very inconvenient as this was the only 24/7 gym in Pembroke.

Negative experience: Don't go here. The penny pitchers changed from 24/7 hour to 24hrs Monday to Thursday, part - time on weekends, and it's such a rip-off. To Planet fitness, please change back!

Negative experience: Honestly pathetic. The heat in this gym is insanity. Last summer the ac was broken and I gave it grace, but now a year later and it’s still not working. If I wanted to be in a sauna I would do so. A gym not having suitable a/c is truthfully pathetic. The staff and equipment and cleanliness are good…but whoever the owner is seriously needs to get it together and fix the ac. Also, changing hours to only be open until 7pm?! So much for 24/7….if you’re going to be changing the hours that drastically are prices going to change? It isn’t fair to be paying the same amount but limit access by 30%.

Negative experience: You suck. I workout over weekends at midnight. You suck. No papertowels in the washrooms. You suck. Heard you still have a broken urinal for well over a year. You suck. And once more, you suck.

Fantastic experience: Planet Fitness has a great atmosphere, clean equipment, showers, change room with lockers, tanning beds and more! Definitely recommend this Fitness center it also runs 24 hours a day for all your needs.

Positive experience: Location was clean with plenty of machines, but it lacked space to really do any mat work and only has 2 hydrassage. Overall good experience, most staff seemed very friendly.

Negative experience: Been coming here for years now. Never had an issue before today. Staff member was rude and made me feel more uncomfortable as I accidentally spilt my water bottle, when I dropped it. Tried helping and she made a point to call me out in-front of a bunch of people about the mess. Already embarrassed this didn’t make me feel comfortable.

Fantastic experience: Very clean, went here during holiday last month and the staff we're reasonably present, facility was clean, few things were broken but that's to be expected. Water fountain was pouring out water but they were doing their best to keep the fountain active for members to use while also catching the water with buckets.

Negative experience: EDIT : I spoke to the management right away and it was just kind of blown off I then reached out on Twitter and find out that its a oh well sorry but they are privately owned and operated . Sounds to me corporate needs to make sure all clubs work to same standards I'm leaving 1 star because I was in today and upon leaving was met with a very aggressive service dog barking growling and trying to pull from the owner to get me. I called and spoke to a manager who told me that the dog has had a busy few days. Servicedogs do not act like this and I am considering canceling my membership so I never have to be put in that position again. It's completely unacceptable and in a proper world the owner with the service dog should have been told to leave if the dog isn't controlled

Negative experience: Pro: It's a VERY clean gym and has a bunch of machines, great for the keeping fit crowd. Lots of cardio and user friendly equipment. Friendly staff, and they are very helpful. Con: Honest truth is there isn't much space, and isn't really for people who want to train hard. Lack of free weights/racks/barbells, makes it difficult to do any heavy/compound training.

Negative experience: After canceling over the phone, due to being posted, this "business" continued to bill my bank account. Not only that they double billed me for over a year. Do not give these people your bank info. They played dumb for days then finally found my account info on MULTIPLE memberships. Reply: I have contacted you, eventually you removed my bank info, but refuse to issue a refund...

Positive experience: Clean, totally serviceable. Lots of cardio machines. Only has track-style Olympic bar cages with safety catches for squats, deadlifts chest press, so the range of movement can be a bit awkward for these if you are used to free squat cages and deadlift pads. Some of the regulars are kind of aggressive/confrontational over equipment, haven’t had the best experiences here (beyond control of staff and owners but not really in keeping with the whole “fitness for everyone” vibe), but for Pembroke it’s fine. Meh.

Fantastic experience: Planet fitness changed my life I was 240 pounds and now 170 pounds thank to the encouragement of the staff in pembroke

Fantastic experience: Some may call it an old lady gym. I'd say the best vibes in Pembroke for a healthy and fitness driven lifestyle. You're doing yourself a disservice if you're not part of this club.

Negative experience: Beware of money-grabbing. I expect their standard response of “if you look at the contract you signed” to this review, as that is the generic answer given to any existing negative reviews that address this same issue below. After trying to cancel through multiple iterations of Planet Fitness’ online portals (the general website; the “myaccount” website; the local branch’s page), I see that I have been charged for yet another month of unused membership as of yesterday. I then phone the branch to cancel, but am told the only way of cancelling is to come into the branch in-person. They seem to be throwing up roadblocks to make it as difficult as they possibly can for you to cancel. In 2022, you cannot cancel online or over the phone? Moreover, directions for cancelling are nowhere to be found on all of their web space. But apparently, “it’s in the contract you signed”. Personally, I don’t find this to be a great way of providing customer service. Well this is simply a warning to anybody considering this place who doesn’t want to have to hire a lawyer to eventually get their contract cancelled. Now just watch for their response to this - I’ll pay another month of unused membership if they manage to respond with anything other than “it’s in the contract you signed”.

Negative experience: Paused my membership over covid they took fees out anyway awful customer service asked for a letter to cancel i did originally i had paused the status i was under the impression that i was to call to reinstate it not randomly find out by checking my bank account i called was told ah too bad its your own fault for not checking its on you... nothing like paying for a service i cant use how many others lost money due to this issue it's ridiculous taking advantage of people during a time like this

Positive experience: Affordable gym with basic equipment. If you are not sure about whether you want a membership here, you can get a free one day pass which includes a tour of the facilities - check the website. Machines and changerooms are cleaned regularly, but the cleanliness is highly dependent on the gym-goers. In my opinion, this should be enforced. There are a good number of cardio machines, some resistance machines, and Smith Machines/adjustable benches, and a good variety of dumbbells. There are only barbells with low weight. Staff are polite and helpful. Good gym for beginners or cardio workouts.

She knows most regulars by name and greets members as they come in and leave. Overall experience 10/10

Fantastic experience: Probably the best gym I've ever been to in about 15 years. Very high quality equipment, always open, helpful and kind staff, great restrooms and changerooms, plenty of space, great entertainment to watch while doing cardio and good music. Very clean and comfortable atmosphere. Can't complain about a single thing even if I tried.

Negative experience: Getting really disappointed with this gym. Especially how they are handling the lockdowns. They are closed and still think they can charge you for half the month they've been closed. They took their annual fee out of my account while they were closed with no option to cancel my membership because they were closed. Their staff isn't very helpful in resolving these issues, at least not the girl I was talking to. She was actually quite snotty. Unfortunately it's the only affordable gym in Pembroke.

Negative experience: So been going here for a while then took a break due to covid, but woke this morning to find out my account was not cancelled like I asked it to be last month and was charged over 50$ In “fees” when the membership should be 24.99 and it’s very weird cause I was already charged 46.50 on September 1st.. it hasn’t even been a full month and I’m being charged again? Only thing that saves this place is if you happen to get a friendly staff member. Don’t recommend going here especially during covid.

Positive experience: Good policies. Cheap subscription.

Negative experience: I went here a few times after they opened again during Covid-19. The staff are very friendly, and they have "rules" set in place, such as patrons need to wear masks when not on a piece of equipment. Well, this definitely wasn't followed - saw multiple people wandering around with no masks on at all, and the staff did nothing about it. Cancelled my membership, and found a different gym.

Positive experience: Ok have gone twice would never get a membership does not meet my fitness needs. But it is not a gym designed for a 250 pound athletic build. What it is designed for is giving normal people a place to get fit and be challenged. It also has everything you need for body building essentially. It desperately needs a squat rack but I assume they don't have one to keep guys like me out lol. My weight belt I brought there got a lot if weird looks lol. But over all a positive experience to a gym I thought was going to ask me to leave.
