Positive experience: Incredibly difficult to beat this place. Excellent equipment, consistent experience regardless of location, nice change rooms and showers, helpful staff, nice "spa" areas with slick red-light therapy beds - all for the almost hard-to-believe low fee of $29.00. I have no doubt that they will raise their rates at some point but for now it's a great deal.

Fantastic experience: I've worked out at several gyms and consider myself an advanced lifter, but sometimes I just want a space where I can escape the intensity and focus on my own workout. This gym provides the perfect environment for that! The staff, including Juli and Jade, are amazing and keep everything spotless, which makes the experience even better.

Negative experience: This location is ghetto. The only location in Edmonton with dated equipment. Did not see a single staff tidy up the gym while working out a whole hour.

Positive experience: My 14 year old daughter wanted to start going to the gym so we decided to try PF. The black card membership helps because I am able to bring her for free. Staff is always friendly, and it’s rare that there isn’t an employee walking around cleaning. Some actual squat racks and bench presses would be nice but mind you this gym is geared towards beginners and casual gym users not bodybuilding and hardcore fitness. One of the smith machines have been broken for a few days. No big deal unless it turns into months.

Negative experience: Terribly unprofessional and rude staff We canceled our accounts a week ago as we were moving and they took payment And refused to do anything about it and told us (the manager told us) that they don’t care and that it isn’t their problem Might I add my gf can’t even access her account so she can’t even use the amenities she paid for even if we lived there

Positive experience: It’s an okay planet fitness. In comparison to my home gym in Saskatoon the equipment could use some repairs as some of its is rickety and tired. The black card spa is great and I love the set up there. Everything was always clean.

Negative experience: Dirtiest location by far out of all Edmonton and surrounding locations. The change rooms are somewhat run down and the bathrooms looked to be cleaned by staff making minimum wage.

Positive experience: It was my first visit, the staff at the desk didn't seem super attentive as I had to prompt them on a trial, most commercial gyms I've been to are pretty quick and excited to sign you up. The equipment is in good shape, but everything is very cramped together. This is definitely the gym for people who aren't trying to make massive gains but moreso for those just trying to move their body. There's limited free weights, a couple racks of dumbbells, but no squat racks, only Smith machines. I would say it's pretty comparable to GoodLife, just a little smaller.

Fantastic experience: Nice gym, not 24h. They close 11pm on mon-thur and on weekends they close at 7pm. Dissapointed of the early close times. Overall really nice gym. Tanning beds, massage chairs, hydro massage chairs and all the workout equipment you will ever need are located at this facility. The membership price is really is really affordable. Would recommend.

Negative experience: My wife and I joined the St. Albert planet fitness last month in February/2024 We could not figure out how to sign up at home so we both came into the building and the staff signed us both up in person. We provided the staff with our bank card as 1st form of payment and our credit card as 2nd form of payment. Payments are made by automatic withdrawal. We had gotten charged a late fee for the first payment so we spoke to the manager who was very rude and insisted we signed up at home and that the error was made by my wife and I. Manager asked why I’m upset over a $15 late fee, I said because it’s wrong, it was an error made by your staff and we’re paying for it. Manager was very rude at this location and by the way she handled the situation I believe she is just scamming people. I asked for a # to contact head office, she said there is no #. Only a customer service email to state a concern at. She called us a liar and that I shouldn’t be upset over a $15 late charge. Very unprofessional. We have cancelled our memberships and will no longer be returning to this location. I never post reviews but if someone is going to just lie and take our money like that, I will be sure to further post this experience on other platforms as well because what they are doing here is wrong.

Negative experience: Equipment is broken often and takes weeks to fix. Caters to a younger clientele with very pop gym etiquette (using multiple stations, sitting on their phones for extended times etc). The types and numbers of machines don’t correspond to use. For example there is 1 pec deck but at least 5 machines dedicated to lat pulldowns. Dumbell area is very crowded. Smith machines are dominated by people doing glute bridges which leaves no where to do bench press. I’d leave but I’m cheap and $15 a month can’t be beat. On a positive note, it is very clean and staff work hard to keep it that way.

Fantastic experience: Fantastic place to workout as well as work. Great management, staff, and friendly patrons. A welcoming and supportive environment that places a higher priority than other gyms on cleanliness and sanitization practices.

Negative experience: Takes actual months to fix machines, not great when you only have one of each. (EDIT) as per the owners response it has been over two months of waiting for equipment to be fixed. that is last class not first class.

Fantastic experience: Joined not too long ago but it is a good experience so far. Most of the staff was friendly and helpful, the equipment and change rooms were clean and the perks with the Black Card membership are nice. They have all equipment you would need, lots of sanitization stations, a great app, a personal trainer you can make appointments with, tvs you can plug into, showers and the prices are really good. For a regular membership it is $15 and for The Black card is $30. The Black card membership includes perks like bringing a guest every time to work out with you, tanning beds, red light therapy, hydro massage and massage chairs. Definately recommend.

Negative experience: Terrible experience at this location and gym. I've been charged more NSF fees than my membership even costs. I have been followed around this gym by gentleman who don't even appear to be excercising, simply observing and watching others workout. When brought to managements attention I was informed he's a regular and was harmless. Worst gym experience ever.

Fantastic experience: Friendly staff, clean facilities. Great gym equipment, I enjoy the massage chair and water massage chair when my back gets stiff. I like the red room as a pre-workout and a tan once in a while.

Negative experience: "No critics" "Judgement free zone" slapped all over the wall. Yet i had a staff member come up to me for grunting with only 4 other people in the gym and no one next to me and gave me a run down of each exercise i was doing and what noise levels were acceptable per exercise i was doing so i was being judged. Unfortunately if your working hard your going to make noise... because "it makes others feel intimidated". Very ridiculous policys

Positive experience: Not awful but as others have said they take forever to fix equipment. Couple that with how crowded it gets and you can easily waste 30+ mins just waiting to use machines or a workout station. You get what you pay for I guess.

Fantastic experience: Wasn’t sure what to expect before going. I figured cause it’s a big chain and membership is very inexpensive that it would be a little janky. Totally exceeded my expectations so much. The staff is helpful, nice. There’s plenty of machines. It’s bigger location , cleaner and more luxurious than I expected. The tanning beds are great too. I like the spacious clean locker rooms. Always see staff cleaning floors and locker rooms and stuff. They’re very nice. Bought some suntan lotion and tanning goggles and got a sweet deal! Haven’t seen anything I dont like. Highly recommended.

Negative experience: Refused to allow me to cancel the membership. Then suddenly they decided they would not allow me to use the membership at all. Still won’t cancel it, and they still expect monthly payments.

Fantastic experience: This is an excellent place to exercise. The premises are spacious and kept very clean. They have all the machines that I need. I LOVE the fact that they deter members from slamming down weights and distracting other members. The price is very reasonable and in a good location.

Fantastic experience: This place has inexpensive membership dues and is remarkably clean. My only complaint is the staff's sometimes poor timing of mopping the locker room and shower area!!! It's happened a couple of times where one or two of the young girls from reception will very quietly bring in their cleaning tools to mop at the same time that I or other people are finishing a shower and opening the curtain to grab a towel, and they're cleaning right in front of the shower curtains!! It's extremely uncomfortable to leave the shower until they're gone! Other than that issue, the gym is great.

Positive experience: Clean gym Great selection of machines and music as well as TV to accompany you. Female staff lack personality and are not very friendly. Seem to not really like their jobs. However most of the males are decent. Run a reputable business and I would want to know if this was my staff. They are the face of your company and should be on their game every shift! Otherwise I do enjoy coming here. They won’t make it break me going but more personality rather than their own conversations would be nice!

Fantastic experience: The staff are fantastic super polite, and the facility is immaculate. Great location lots of parking and I love the circuit.

Positive experience: I have been coming to this gym for last two years and always found it clean and comfortable to workout. Unfortunately the staff is not as welcoming as they use to be. I always see 2-3 staff members standing at desk using their cell phones rarely on floor and no more greetings when you enter the gym infact at times I have seen some staff members sitting on top of the front counter with a straight even not noticing that you entered gym. I wish the old days be back.

Negative experience: First time at this location. They don't enforce wiping down the machines/ equipment and massage chairs . I have witnessed 3 ppl who were working out beside me, not disinfecting the equipment after use. When I went to use the massage chair (which looked very worn out), the person beside me (male) did not disinfect the massage chair before he left... O my ...

Positive experience: please make it colder in the gym! It is always so hot and makes it difficult to workout.

Fantastic experience: I love that the app has a crowd meter, I go when the meter is at 2. I'm not a crowded places type person. I enjoy the HIIT circuit but I find most of the people are not actually doing hiit they're using the machines so sometimes I have to break the order of the circuit. That's the only annoyance but I like the machines and cardio options at PF. The black card is worth it for the infrared machine, tanning and massage options as well. Price is great and you can bring a friend for free!

Fantastic experience: Went in to register as a new member. The front desk attendant made the process easy and painless. I was able to sign up within minutes, zero pressure to buy into any program, and their membership is well priced without any contacts. The black card membership gives you access to their massage chairs, and “spa/wellness” area as well. The machines are in superb condition. Lots of free weights, many smith machines and the lots of HITT exercise options. Change rooms are spacious, with showers, and individual change rooms. If you are looking to sign up for a new gym membership without the baggage of high fees and locked in contracts this is the place.

Fantastic experience: I've been going to planet fitness in St. Albert since it opened originally there's been a change or two and staff and management. But I have to say the staff is so nice and they're just there to help you and everybody knows you by your name. The place is spotless and looks great and the staff is always busy doing something which is wonderful and the manager, She is a great lady . I would recommend anybody wanting to start a working out start at planet fitness in st. Albert. And to top it all off the price is great. For the premium package it's so cheap and you get the tanning the massage chairs, the water massage the UV red light therapy. I mean the list goes on and on and they also have a few classes now that they do. Yeah you can't ask for any better I don't think I'll ever go anywhere else honestly.

Is like having two memberships for the price of one. Staff are not very interactive. Only issue I had at the White Oaks location. Was the TVs were not working for the last half of the 1st round of playoff hockey.

Negative experience: Go to Goodlife instead! I would not recommend this gym. St. Albert PF managers are not willing to accommodate. I have been working out at this gym for the last 6 months. Now that it's spring I drove my motorcycle to the gym. Plant Fitness lockers do not fit my helmet so I asked staff if I can leave it behind the counter. Manager said no. I asked the manager if they had any other solutions so I can stay as a member she said no. Manager seemed to careless about me canceling my membership. Unfortunately I had to cancel. I went to Goodlife down the road and they were more than accommodating. Not only do they have bigger lockers to secure your items they also said they would hold onto my helmet if it didn't fit. Hands down way better customer service. I wouldn't recommend Planet Fitness to anyone do to the lack of experience in customer service.

Work outs, tanning, massage chairs and hydrotherapy beds are all available for one low monthly payment. Best deal going. Best part is I never feel self-conscious there. The people are there to work out not judge others.

Negative experience: Came in to cancel my membership and the male receptionist was extremely demeaning. He told me “I probably don’t read fine print on any contracts”, when I told him it was my first gym membership he said “clearly”, he repeatedly said “I know right” when I was shocked by his rude remarks towards me. A very shocking experience overall. I asked for his name Jacob, and asked for a manager regarding the experience, he told me there’s no manager. Don’t recommend.

Negative experience: As for the tanning beds at your facility...your staff should educate people that are new to it instead of letting someone that says it's their first time do a tan for 9 minutes absolutely mad at how burnt I got from it now I will never go in another one

Fantastic experience: Equipment is clean, the staff are friendly and quick to scan my card. Got all the standards like treadmills and bikes but also have a nice stretching area. Locker rooms are very nice and maintained. Just all around a great gym with a cheap price of about 20$ a month when including the fees.

Fantastic experience: Planet Fitness St.Albert is a fantastic place to work out! The facilities are clean, new equipment and very friendly staff. At the end of a good workout treat yourself to the hydra bed massage lounger!

Fantastic experience: You simply cannot beat the value for the price. They have tons of cardio machines so I never have to wait and I live the amenities like tanning, hydro massage, and red light therapy that are included for less per month than any other gyms I’ve gone to. They staff is friendly and the hours are very good too. Only once did I ever have a concern and I appreciated that my concern was listened to, acknowledged and addressed very quickly.

Positive experience: I normally do not post a review without trying to resolve my comers first; however with Planet Fitness my concerns have fallen on dead ears. I've been a Black Card member at this club for ten months now and though I am relatively happy with the equipment there is a huge concern with cleanliness of this club and the attitude by staff when I brought my concern's forward. I normally attend 2-3 times a week, normally at 5 am when it opens, subsequently I am one of the first people in the shower. Two months ago I raised a concern that in one stall there was a piece of gum stuck to the soap dispenser, obviously it has been there awhile. After I raised my concern it took over a week before the piece of gum was removed. Makes me wonder how clean the floor is! Between 5 - 630 am there are always two staff members at the reception area chatting and texting; rarely do I see any of them do any "cleaning" of the facility except to change the towel dispensers on the floor. On Boxing Day, I went to the gym 20 minutes after it opened, I could not find a clean spot on the floor in the entranceway without stepping in mud and gravel. The men's changeroom was a disaster, mud all over the floor, every locker had mud on the bottoms. As they were closed on 25 December it is obvious nobody cleaned the facility after they closed on the 24th. When I brought my concern forward; the response I received was "thanks for letting us know, we will take care of it!" Why would I have to let them know how dirty the entranceway is when they walked though it? Instead of cleansing it they were too busy chatting and texting at the main reception area. After I raised my concern not one of the staff members made any attempt to clean the area. This morning (8 January) I went to the gym four hours after it opened; again the front entranceway was so dirty I could not step anywhere without getting my feet dirty. When I raised this with the "manager" he tried to excuse it by saying they were too busy and couldn't' find time to clean it. That is 100% BS! The dirt and mud were obviously from the day before when the snow was melting; the gym was now open for 4 hours and the temperature outside was -7 so it was not dirty from today. Again management and staff were too busy chatting and texting to actually do their work. No effort was made by anyone to clean this area after I raised my concern. Planet Fitness promotes itself as a "clean" environment, well I have not seen that in St. Albert. I also use the tanning booths but now I am concerned if they are actually cleaned after each use. From now on I will take pictures and post them to show how filthy this establishment actually is. Also, if there is no improvement, I may call the health authorities so they can check if the showers, tanning booths etc. are actually meeting health standards. Hopefully management/owner will read this post and take action.

Negative experience: I was told that this was a great gym by a lot of people but getting in was impossible the app was clunky and wouldn’t work the staff where no help and they had very little equipment and it was all dirty There was no space for free weights and people where constantly interrupting my work out and critical of what I was doing.

Negative experience: Worst gym I've ever been associated with due to strong handed management tactics. They constantly harass patrons. At certain times there will be as many as 5 staff members behind the desk talking about the patrons with unfavorable and condescending remarks. No judgement zone is their mantra, by no means do they comply .The work out floor is akin to a prison yard with staff members constantly looking for harassment opportunities or mocking patrons. Management is entirely to blame for this mad house of shame and disrespect. I have been attending gyms continuously for 40 plus years and this gym is unprofessional, as the attitude of management is controlling and oppressive. Stay away from this pit of negativity and despair.

I headed out to St. Albert to try this gym and although front feet staff were pleasant, when I indicated I’d like to do red light, I had to ask “where do I sign in? Where do I go? This information was not volunteered. I guess the assumption was that as a new person I would “just know”. Other than that, the gym is great, the staff are really friendly and the clients were respectful and moved quick through workout with NO machine hogging . I would absolutely be happy with working out here when in St. Albert

Fantastic experience: Amazing love the equipment not to put down any other place I was a member for 2 years not finding that the value was worth it not loving saunas however here tanning beds, massage chairs, red light therapy and for half the price not to mention the initial 50% off your first purchase of tanning products upon registration! So far loving it

Negative experience: My fiance went in to cancel his account since they changed their policy. He wrote a letter to cancel and they both signed it, which is what PF requested. His contract ended last month and they are still taking money out of his account. They even changed their name to take money out of his account. So the letter was good enough a couple months ago and now it's not?? He still needs to go in and cancel AGAIN? Scam artists. Greatful Anytime Fitness doesn't discriminate..

Negative experience: Changed their policy, and breached our contract yet continued to take money out of my account. I put a block on payment, so they went through another outlet to skim money out of my account. Breached contract was up in November, yet still taking money out of my account. I call, apparently the witnessed cancelation note wasn't good enough. I needed to go in and submit another cancelation note at the end of breached contract. Scumbags!!!! Update: it's now January 9th, 11 days since I responded to their request to email them with all the information. Low n behold, with no surprise NOT ONE PEEP FROM PLANETFITNESS via email, or any other method might I add. CROOKS!!!!

Negative experience: The staff here are great but corporate is letting down this location. When the equipment breaks it takes months to repair. Wait times for certain exercises are brutal. It's embarrassing that a business like this can operate with broken equipment. Update - After several months equipment has been repaired. Manager did her best but Planet Fitness appears to have significant red tape for getting equipment fixed. Update Jan 24 Squat rack machine broken again! Update Feb 24 More cable machines broken. It is now not possible to do some exercises based on the fact one side of each rack now broken. Update Mar 24 Only pec fly machine is now broken. With the cable machines and fly down there are a whole bunch of exercises that are impossible. Update April 24 Machines only took 4 weeks to get fixed this time. Manager trying but again the wait times for staff to get things fixed here is terrible. Update September 24 No broken machines for awhile which has been nice. Finally a rack has broken so we shall see how long it takes to fix. Update November 24 Rack has been broken for 4 weeks and no repair in sight. Cut my finger on a broken hook in the men’s change room. Reported it and came back next day and nothing was done at all. Maintenance is terrible. Update December 24 Rack still broken. Mirror broken by another rack and definitely a safety issue. No repairs in sight for either. During peak times, it can be more than an hour just to use the remaining equipment that is still functional. Another update December 24 Only Pec Deck is broken. Repairs take forever. Decided to hit up north Edmonton location and it is far superior. I have visited Planet Fitness locations across North America and the St Albert location is the worst layout and maintained location by a country mile.
