Negative experience: This gym is poorly run and filled with the Karen’s of the world. Their treadmills are continually broken and need repair. The space is too small for the amount of equipment and people using the gym. Change rooms are small and cheaply built. They had broken TVs up for years and then just removed them without replacing. Good luck catching the score in any game you want to watch while lifting. Only TWO squat racks for public use and with the amount of people using them, good luck getting a spot. Compared to “nice” Goodlife’s like downtown or Clairview or any other gym, this place is a dump considering what you pay and what you get. The cherry on top is the staff policing the parking lot and calling bylaw officers to ticket cars. St.Albert needs more and better gym options.

Fantastic experience: Great gym for anyone at any level of fitness. From a beginner to a gym rat this place is great to check out at any stage of your fitness journey. Negative experience: To Prospective Members who decide to join this specific gym! I've used this facility for over 3 years, this gym looks nice on the outside but inside it's far from its outside appearance! What can you expect from this gym, 1. From the moment you walk into the gym you will be greeted by arrogant/confrontational Goodlife Employees everyone from management down. Seems to be a revolving door of employees coming through this club! Most of the personal trainers lack the capability it requires to be a trainer, some spend excessive time on their cells while their with a client and walk around like their the best thing going! Rather than doing their jobs and helping to maintain the facility they all gather at the front desk going on about their personal lives, who they slept with the past weekend etc, must be nice to be paid to do nothing! 2. Whether you a male/female and need to change into your workout gear you will find the changerooms are absolutely disgusting, not cleaned very often, water on the floors with no signage indication such, disgusting/dirty lockers, and specifically in the men's changeroom toilet paper stuck on the walls in the stalls and one that's had one stuck on the walls for months! 3. If you make it out of the change room and start your workout you will find absolutely cluster with their setup, you would think for a gym that size there would be more space but everything's crammed worse then a can of sardines and always equipment that is out of order and very poorly maintained equipment (rips in leather/lack of equipment cleaning/etc), every piece of equipment especially treadmills/bikes work differently in regards that some pieces of equipment need to be replaced but this specific club fails to do so! 4. Membership fees are ridiculous for what you actually get for being a member at this specific gym, alot of other gyms in the St Albert area that are alot cheaper and offer alot more than this club does. 5. If you have issues with your membership and need to call the membership services number you will also deal with arrogance and uptight people over the phone as well. I'd highly recommend looking around or going to a different Goodlife location as this one's a disaster, read the other reviews about this place and it shouldn't take long for you to come to realization that this place is a joke and needs a servere house cleaning! There are other Goodlife locations that are alot more professional and cleaner then this dump!

Negative experience: Went on Thursday morning (5/17). Seems like a unfortunate day to have gone to Goodlife Fitness, Cheryl was very unfriendly, hostile and confrontational. If you plan to attract negative vibes, Goodlife is the best place. Else run away. You don't want such individual ruining your day. Good Luck but no GOODLIFE!!!!

Positive experience: The gym is amazing, lots of useful equipment and great trainers. However, I would provide additional training to some of the front desk staff on how to greet or talk with gym members. Today, may 11th in the morning I was greeted by a tall male front desk member who, as I was coming in said “I like your…looks like an egg”, and then laughed which made me extremely uncomfortable. I was wearing a hood because of the rain which may or may not look extraordinarily, but “compliments” like this should be not made to then laugh about. It is not the first encounter with this particular staff member, which makes me feel uncomfortable, others are very welcoming and warm.

Negative experience: General Manager Robyn had harassed, bullied and lied to me. She is an extremely poor example of leadership. I genuinely feel sorry for this individual. There are so many great staff there that are good human beings, and would make an amazing manager. Please take your business elsewhere, you don’t need the headache and mental stress that Robyn will cause you.

Negative experience: Luckily I visited with a free pass. Would never have paid the 24$ DAY pass fee.... That's more than half of what I pay for my actual gym for a MONTH. Change rooms had an odor, no one was even around so its not like it was someone's BO. Equipment is a little dated. Find it's oddly placed. Would not recommend, but in a pinch to get a work out in using the 24/7 perk is a bonus.

Negative experience: Worst goodlife I've ever been too the layout is terrible. Such a massive building you would think there would be lots of room but thats not the case here. Everything is so close together and not enough machines. I will say this though, there staff is friendly and welcoming.

Positive experience: Swap the cardio and weight room, and get more equipment (one or two more squat rack, another cable machine , platform, etc.), and things would be much better. Too cramped.

Negative experience: One of the worst goodlifes I've been into. For the size of this gym, you'd think it would have a sufficient amount of equipment. Not. The top floor is where all the weights are, and if you go before 9pm on any given day. Don't expect to follow a routine. You'll be waiting around to use what you want. The main floor. Cardio. Cardio. Cardio. And then a nice little area, that paying members aren't allowed to use. Not even at 10pm or later. Why? Because personal trainers pay monthly for that space. Just like how every single goodlife member pays a monthly fee. But I guess our money isn't enough for us to use the while gym.. that we pay for. There's one Squat rack with mats, upstairs, that's generally occupied by people doing powerlifting. So good luck wanting to use it. And the other is downstairs in the personal training area. How about allow the members to use this equipment, that we pay to use, while there's no trainers? Just like how it was before. Fix the layout. It's terrible. And miles behind any other goodlife. The amount of cardio equipment downstairs that doesn't get used... add more weights. Leg Press. Squat racks with mats. More dumbbells and benches.

Negative experience: Not worth the money. I started before this gym was even built (pre membership) and am considering leaving for the gym down the road. For 26$ every two weeks you get. -Uncleaned change rooms with out of order sauna -machines that are breaking down -no paper towel in the dispensers - good luck trying to find a treadmill without 'character' such as a loose belt, not working screen, refusing to incline and MANY without the phone/magazine holder still attached. -massage chairs that are broken -the TV wall.... is no more It's not a bad gym but for the price it's silly. There are better options (fit for less) that are a fraction of the price with better amenities and equipment. I hate that I have to change my routine but they need to improve or go out of business.

Negative experience: For a Goodlife, this is one of the worst. For an all around gym, it’s okay. I certainly wouldn’t pay the membership fees to have this as my main location. As other reviews say, the wasted space to the cardio equipment is laughable. A lot are also not working properly. Two treadmills saying 3.5 mph and it’s barely a slow walk. Upstairs almost isn’t even worth your time. Everything is taken up so you are working out whatever you can find equipment for at that moment. We came early on a weekend morning, so typical gym goers were not even around yet. This place would be horrible at a peak time. The regular higher cost gym expectants are not part of the program here. Either lack of employee training or ignorance. Massive piles of hair and grime/dirt between the mats for stretching. Dirty and calcified water fountains. The more annoying things were, no where to collect a towel. Front desk has a sign saying “away”. So just have to go play hide and seek for them or wait it out I guess. The upstairs equipment is so close together you better be in a friendly mood. They are quite literally touching. Bonus point for it being part of the goodlife chain so I didn’t have to waste money on a drop in. That would have been really disappointing. For a quick fix it’s not bad. For a good workout, I’d drive the 25 mins to a much better location. This one just ain’t it. Pros, are there is a lot of cardio equipment. So shouldn’t get bored of that. The change rooms are a large size, the sauna is large and heats up quick. Though the dial was reading 80C it clearly isn’t accurate.

Negative experience: This gym is way too small for the amount of traffic it gets. We also pay what 40$ bi weekly to have unmaintained machines that break every week. Little to no free weights. The layout is awful. Downstairs has so much wasted space. Upstairs is way too crammed and small. It’s embarrassing. Not to mention half of, if not all the tvs don’t work. Half of the employees don’t do anything but flirt with the guys in the gym, can’t bare to fill up the paper towel, toilet paper or cleaners. Go to a gym in Edmonton it’s beautiful well kept and clean and huge. And then this one…. Tiny broken and a waste of money. Fantastic experience: This review is for the personal trainer Bianca. When I first met her I was not even able to walk properly as I had a terrible back pain after 2 herniated discs surgery. One month with her (literally, 7 sessions) and I was able to walk as before the surgery and I was able to use my back on small shores around the house as my muscles were stronger. She motivated me and gave me lots of hints. She even gave me a long term plan to follow. I wish I could afford to do more sessions with her. Now, I am going to the gym 4 times a week and I go once weekly to aqua-fit as she recommended and I am willing to keep going. Thank you Bianca :)

Positive experience: Staff are always pretty friendly when coming and going, relatively inexpensive, and plenty of cardio equipment. The place is pretty huge and while certain areas can get busy at peak times, I can always find a substitution as there are plenty of free weights and double or triple of every machine. There are also some nice massage chairs that are quite nice after a workout. Where they fall short is the absolute anarchy regarding shoe rules. Large signs pleading with members to remove outdoor shoes. Signs in front of each massage chair asking patrons to remove shoes. ZERO enforcement. Neanderthals with no regard for a civilized society! That and not sure there’s a single cardio tv that’s not fuzzy and the men’s sauna could use a good cleaning beyond just a quick wipe.

Positive experience: I have been using this gym for a long time and most day enjoy it, 2 items that need to be address, and I have been sending emails to the general manager asking for answers, and normally takes about 2 weeks to get an answer - Our main entertainment screen been broken for more the a year - Maintenance on the equipment must improved, example tape on the seats, no weight labelling on the stackable machines. Lastly why does a 24hr gym closes on holidays I am not sure. Christmas New Years eve no problem. I did review some of your answers and the phone number that you provide no one ever answers. Fantastic experience: Had the chance to workout here a number of times while there for business and the service was consistently friendly and warm. It was tidy and showers were very clean. All the sanitizer and washroom soaps were all full. Loved the hellos and goodbyes.

Negative experience: As many other reviewers have pointed out, the layout of this gym is not the best. There is an excessive amount of cardio equipment and a lacking of key resistance training equipment, which leads to long waits and a frustrating workout. It does not help matters much that a disproportionate amount of floor space, and key pieces of equipment, are segregated for Personal Trainers with clients and their own personal workouts. With few exceptions the trainers are not friendly or helpful, unless they feel they can sell you on training with them, of course. There is a problem with the process they have for maintaining/repairing equipment as it can take a long time for equipment to be repaired and equipment has been put back into service without being fixed, leading to safety concerns from me. This has given me the impression that they are resistant to spend money on the upkeep of the gym and the safety of the members. I feel that for the premium price charged for membership, yet the lack of premium services that other GoodLife gyms provide, that this location could keep its equipment in top shape. The parking can be a little crazy during peak hours. The front bank of 9 TVs that are the centerpiece of the whole gym have not worked in the nine months I've been a member. The gym manager is generally friendly, unless you have an issue, then she is flippant and condescending. Showing she does not respect members unless, like her trainers, she can somehow suck more money out of you. If you realize that your membership is nothing more than a cover charge, this may work for you. I have taken such a disliking to this gym, that I now drive twenty minutes to another GoodLife. The contrast is startling, it's almost unbelievable that this is the same company.

Negative experience: The layout at this location is the absolute worst, there is no parking, the personal trainers are rude and snappy, its too busy to actually get anything done . The fount counter staff are wonderful and friendly every time i have never seen a grumpy one. The location is very clean.

Positive experience: The Zumba class was terrible- bad music, boring easy repetitive moves and didn’t get a great workout. I left early even I was so bored. I’ve been to other zumbas that were way better

Positive experience: Sauna is kind of a joke. Old wooden door that has a 2 inch gap on 3 out of the 4 sides of the door. No t very efficient and this l t's how hot the sauna gets. Also all the mirrors are covered in spit lol

Positive experience: This Goodlife is much like any of the others you go to; clean, lots of machines and equipment, ect. The only issue I've found with this one is that a fair nunber of the machines and tvs are broken and showing no signs of being fixed any time soon. Very annoying

Negative experience: Well, I like the gym at first, then they were closed on Thanksgiving, so I tried Planet Fitness. $50 A month less expensive. Great Staff and MORE amenities. Good bye GoodLife oh and the scam they have going to bill you an extra month upon cancelling whatever! Advertised tanning & yoga - no yoga instructor, most classes unavailable & you would have to go into Edm. Heavy weights all on the 2nd floor, who designed that. All massage chairs are facing the work out area so rarely used cause ya feel like a slacker. Planet Fitness is by far superior.

Negative experience: When a piece of equipment breaks, which is inevitable with 1000s of patrons, it remains taped up and unusable for months. Cable machine and peck deck have been broken and taped up for 3 months. No one, not even the floor manager, can provide any ETA. It's a very clean setting and the staff are really nice, but they're completely uninformed and mostly useless.

Machines are older, lots of cardio equipment under maintenance, machines are packed really close together, cleanliness is subpar and the tools used for cleaning machines- spray bottle and the thinnest paper towel one can find is just not good enough.

Fantastic experience: I joined GoodLife fitness a month ago, I met Carly and she was very professional, helpful, and we didn’t feel pressured when we sign for the membership, she has a lot of knowledge, then I got introduced to Nichole as a personal trainer, I did my free session with her and now I’m committed to keep on going because of her, she’s very friendly, professional, highly recommended

Negative experience: Updated: Still hold my word that (most) of the staff are friendly, unfortunately there is a lot of equipment that’s broken, and when I came in this morning around 7:30 (January 7th), there was no staff to been seen.

Fantastic experience: I recently started at this gym and the girl at the front (Carly) was super helpful in getting me the membership that best suits me. She also showed me around and made me feel very welcome! The gym is very clean and I love working out here! I definitely recommend checking it out and letting Carly assist you!!
Positive experience: Ive been a member since about 2015. Very clean and staff is polite. Only feedback is always a fair bit of bikes and elliptical that tvs don't work. My frustration is the sauna it only goes to 90. Should be able to go to 110 like other gyms. I go in for 20-30 minutes and i cannot break a sweat. I call it the “warm room” not sauna. Otherwise i am very pleased with goodlife.
Positive experience: Good location, parking is harder to find during peak hours or when they have group classes. Always clean, plenty of lockers. Requires vaccination proof.

Negative experience: Definitely needs to upgrade equipment. Machines are very dated and usually broken down. Almost twice the price of Planet Fitness and Servus Place

Positive experience: They have bunch of equip but the free weight area was quite small. There also isn't a lot of equipment in the free weight area so you have to wait for stuff even when it's not busy. The gym is clean and the staff are kind. Music needs to be a bit louder but over all it is nice.

Negative experience: Today I decided to go to 3 gyms in and around St Albert with the intent of joining on the spot for my wife and I after I toured the facilities to choose the best fit for my training. GoodLife St Albert was closest to my home so saved it for last. It was the only one of three that couldn’t accommodate my request of checking out the gym. They had no staff to show me around ( I really just needed to look at the equipment) both other gyms were much busier and had ample time for my tour and questions. Sadly this was my second negative experience, and am sharing as approximately two years ago I had a similar situation. 2nd missed opportunity GL.

Negative experience: It was a really nice gym to go too, however one of the trainers was always on my butt, every-time I entered the gym he’d keep trying to get me pressured into personal training to buy from him. I understand their trainers and their trying to do business however I think when I say “I’m not interested” they respect that, my first occasion with him he was asking “How much money do you have in your bank account” personally I don’t think that’s something you should ask someone you’re trying to make business with. I ended up just switching to servus place, more able to get into a workout and out without trainers bothering me.

Positive experience: Gym is spread over 2 levels with most free weights and equipment on the second as well as group sessions downstairs consists of personal training area and cardio general with some machines located downstairs. Generally a good place to workout for most people but definitely not a hard one gym

Positive experience: No issues with the gym itself, but it would be nice to have more than 1 hour to change and get a complete workout in. By the time you change, warm up, and start your workout, it’s already 15 minutes into your hour time slot. It would also be nice if the showers were open, I’m not sure how allowing members to shower after a workout has any relation to COVID rules. Most people I have spoke to agree that 1 hour isn’t enough time. Just something to think about :) staff are very friendly! Lots of machines and equipment.
Negative experience: Overall not the worst gym I have been to but pretty close considering it's a goodlife. My standards were pretty high because I have never had a bad experience with any other goodlife. I have to say though that some of the employees have no idea how to do their job. Also if you want to workout at 5 be sure you be there at 5 not a minute earlier. Because the "cleaning" process consists of 6 employees standing at the desk watching you stand in line outside. Not to mention the app is a complete waste of time. Just call in.
Fantastic experience: Great staff, very professional and they always greet you when you come in and they always acknowledge you when you leave. They keep the gym spotless. Its the best place to work out! I've been to many gyms in my life and I am so pleased with this facility. Thanks guys for your hard work and your professionalism.

Positive experience: Great gym, could use a larger free weight section. There is only 1 squat rack in the entire upstairs.

Fantastic experience: Overall Goodlife is a decent chain gym but this one has been my best experience so far. The shower pressure was next level. No other reason.

Negative experience: My gym was closed early yesterday so I thought I would try out this 24 hour gym, as GoodLife has good amenities, and better equipment normally. I was disappointed to see ZERO staff when I walked in - not only is this a security issue, but a concern for potential new members, and current members in case they forget their keys. I called the gym at about 7:45 and spoke with Daniel who was lovely, and said to just mention that I would like to sign up for the 3-day pass. I went back into the facility about 5 minutes later and still, no receptionist or anyone to be found. I'm not mad, but just a little sad as I really wanted to workout last night, and drove to St. Albert for it, but thus was unable to.

Positive experience: I used to really like this place but the service went down (with the exception of one staff member) and the rates went up. The only thing I like here anymore is the option for virtual spin. That's it.

Negative experience: At the trade show one of the ladies asked my mom what her excuse was as to why she didnt work out. That's a really rude way to try and get customers to come in. Wont be going there that's for sure.
Positive experience: I've been working out here for a few years now and it's a good gym. It's not usually too busy and they have a really good selection of weights and cardio equipment. The change rooms are big, spacious and clean. They also have several shower stalls and a sauna. No pool at this location though.
Positive experience: Small and crowded, they don't have enough squat racks. Even with 20 people there it feels crowded and you wait for equipment
