Climbers Rock Inc.: Opinions
Positive experience: Great setting, but $100/mo and a $50 signup fee is extremely expensive. Far more than most gyms I’ve climbed at in the GTHA region.
Fantastic experience: Lots of climbs and auto belays, clean gym, great staff and a fun cool vibe!
Fantastic experience: They have a great starter deal. Staff are friendly and helpful , and the facility is clean. Plenty of great bouldering paths and vertical climbs with auto belay function Great spot!
Positive experience: I've been hear a few times so far and it's great! The only thing is that online they mentioned there is a weight section but I didn't see one. For such an expensive membership, I would expect there to be more amenities.
Fantastic experience: Perfect place for new climbers! Good attitude, friendly staff and bouldering routes changed often.
Fantastic experience: Had an AMAZING time! One of the best gyms I've climbed so far. The best part of it is the exceptional service. The staff make you feel very welcome and take safety of the climbers very seriously as well. I recommend trying their cafe upstairs :))
Positive experience: Great climbing place offering bouldering, top rope, and lead for a great price. Have a small training area but now they removed the weights, kinda sucks. They now have a small cafe upstairs but no banana bread, kinda sucks cos I asked the cashier if they would take feedback/suggestions from a customer and he said absolutely not, the people who decide the menu are not open to any suggestions (this caught me by surprise because isn't it about serving to what the customers want? And this is a popular option at boulderz and cave) . I've been with this place for 2 years on the rocktober which is a good deal, however, it's gotten too crowded for my comfort. Which means less time on the wall and having to stretch my time further at the gym, don't have that much time to spend being there. Staff are always friendly and professional, I miss Nate (MVP) but he's moved onto a more fitting career. So sadly I will be moving on, I don't like crowds.
Positive experience: Climber's Rock is one of the few gyms that caters to every crowd. Whether it's families coming in for a fun day or cutthroat boulderers, CR has it covered. The setting quality is some of the best in the GTA, and they actually use V grades which seems to be more of a commodity these days. CR does have it's shortcomings though. The lead/top rope walls are short, like, really short. With the exception of the cave, you don't have many options if you're looking for long, pumpy rope climbing. Additionally, there is very few routes above 5.12. The training equipment is also quite rudimentary in comparison to gyms offering a similar experience, the basics are covered but there are certainly no frills.
Fantastic experience: Just passed one year of climbing here! Love everything about the gym! Very clean, lots of climbs, and really friendly staff :) would recommend to anyone!
Fantastic experience: Great facility, lots of space for both top rope and bouldering. Clean and air-conditioned as well
Fantastic experience: Fire and chill spot to climb various climbs with accurate difficulties and they get updated frequently they have a new cafe on the second floor which is nice and clean and has good snacks
Fantastic experience: Nice and helpful staff. Good choice of climbing routes.
Fantastic experience: god i love this place, i go here nearly every day for bouldering. such an excelent community with familiar faces everyday and new people to meet. there recent addition of the cafe is awesome imo and i never leave feeling un satisfied. the 2 month trial program is super great value standing at 100 bucks and any equipment/chalk when you arrive. the workers are some of the nicest people ive met. even willing to share a slice of cake with me on one of their last days. they are constantly changing routes weekly to keep it fresh and to keep the regulars coming back in. they have a board where you can write your contact info too find partners which is super positive to anyone that is anxious too talk with new people or dont have any other climbing partners. much love 102%
Fantastic experience: This is my favorite climbing gym. The staff and people at the gym are so friendly. I've never had a problem finding a partner to top rope with. Having auto belay options is great for those who are intimidated by bouldering and don't always have a partner. If you are new to climbing please rent climbing shoes as it makes a huge difference in your climb. They have a brand new cafe with coffee, tea and some snack options. I have a gym closer to home but it has less options and I don't find the community as polite. Definitely worth checking out! If you are looking for a home gym this one won't disappoint.
Fantastic experience: Great place to climb with incredibly friendly staff. The climbs have a nice difficulty progression without feeling sandbagged
Positive experience: Love the place, wish there were more easy options, especially when using the automatic descender.
Fantastic experience: Great place to climb, has both top rope and lead routes along with huge boulder sections.
Fantastic experience: Really well maintained gym with interesting and varied route setting.
Fantastic experience: Great climbing gym, good new routes, proper training and exam. Very good trial offer.
Negative experience: Terrible. Been rock climbing many times, didn’t see anyone that was able to complete any of the climbs. Truly terrible experience. Overcharge. Extremely busy
Positive experience: Great for bouldering, the boulder setters are constantly changing things up and know how to set fun and challenging routes. Several different areas available including a shorter wall upstairs for young kids. Staff are friendly and the facility is kept clean. Air conditioned! Gym is far too short to be taken seriously for sport climbs (top rope/lead) and I find very sketchy for some of the lead routes (risk of grounding out). Sport routes are set like boulders so don't have good flow (generally) and ratings are bizarrely high. Go elsewhere for that. Still worth visiting for the bouldering!
Fantastic experience: I have been climbing at this gym for about a month and it is SO much fun!!! They change some of the walls monthly, so there are always new challenges on the horizon. The staff are also extremely friendly and helpful. It is such a great place for all ages and skill levels!
Fantastic experience: This place is such a fun spot to go move around and challenge yourself. My son and I are not avid rock climbers but there are so many options here to create some challenges, have some fun, while being active and top it off with some father/son bonding. Great place if you’re looking to do something different!
Fantastic experience: Huge place with a lot of options!! People here are also very nice. Come on a weekday before 4 for cheaper day pass.
Fantastic experience: Best gym around!
Fantastic experience: Great place to climb with plenty of beginner and interesting routes
Negative experience: Warning ⚠️ some boulders are set in the way that can increase the likelihood of injury This gym has over the years swapped quality for quantity. Yes it has more square footage than 8 years ago, but the quality of the experience has greatly diminished. After a long break of no reset, Route setting is uninspired and generic. Some routes don't get changed for half a year at a time. Proud and once epic lead route cave is a mere shadow of its former self with only 3 routes that stay the same for longer than anything else in this gym. It used to house 6-7 routes at once, and now just 3. Even training facilities are cramped and awkward to work out in with the need to take a block long hike to do weight training and access to rings and hangboards. Basically, look elsewhere.
Fantastic experience: Great gym friendly staff fun climbs
Fantastic experience: Thrilled with our first visit to this gym today! Came with a group of 5 of mixed experience. Michael and Nate are legends and helped get us set up so efficiently it looked like magic The routes are great. Plentiful and diverse for all skill levels. Got our butts kicked by a lot of them.. If you're looking for a climbing gym to try in the area, come here!
Fantastic experience: Great climbing gym especially for the atmosphere and vibe. Everyone's super supportive and encouraging. Solid mix of climbs for all styles on routes and boulders.
Fantastic experience: Very nice and clean gym. A little pricey but all gyms are realistically unless you cam jump on that rock rocktober sale. Good setting and lots of space. The staff are super friendly and the gym is air conditioned in the summer. Also a pretty nice workout area upstairs
Fantastic experience: My son took me there back in October 2023, and it was love at first sight. I am an avid hiker, and in my youth, I climbed mountains (not rock climbing, though). After hiking, this brings the best memories of my beloved mountains. The wall paths change often enough to make it both entertaining and not-boring. The office ppl are extremely helpful and quick with advice. All you need is courage and not compare yourself to the kids L.E. May 2024: The "learn to climb" sessions are perfect and perfectly done! Tyler is a great teacher, providing in-depth explanations of each movement, deconstructing moves into their whys and hows, providing a complete experience, from the warm-ups all through cool-offs. I am glad they're running these classes, I'm learning a lot every week.
Fantastic experience: Such a great place! I have a membership at Gravity, but it is nice to switch it up sometimes and Climbers Rock is a great place I enjoy coming too! They have auto belays as an added bonus! And lots of great top rope and boulders! Love the little workout room upstairs as well with rings, rope, moon board, and hang boards!
Fantastic experience: I Really had a good time with my brother. I would recommend it to my friends and family. Update : I have been going for about two months and I’ve been loving it it made my back muscles way stronger and my biceps to and especially my legs. And now V1 or V2 is my average
Fantastic experience: if you don’t like climbers rock, we can’t be friends.
Negative experience: Normally we love this place and my kids (and their friends) love to go regularly and get some physical activity. They have usually been incredibly supportive and helpful and encouraging to my family. Unfortunately this weekend we interacted with someone at the front desk that was far less than polite or helpful :(. She was rude and 100% not accommodating for my family, and followed my kids around (worried they were doing things wrong) making them feel like criminals. We had troubles with a waiver for one of their friends, and she made no effort to support us or help us with the situation so it became very stressful. This was for my twins birthday and sadly she took the wind of celebration completely out of the day. :(. Definitely left a sour taste for us (which is sad after so much time loving the establishment!).
Fantastic experience: Great facility, very clean and very well maintained. Lots of options for rope, climbs and bouldering. In
Fantastic experience: I take my 4 year old son here. Great spot. He loves it! A+
Positive experience: Great option for bouldering, lead climbing, or top rope. Clean facility with friendly staff. However I did notice a number of clients walking around barefoot so clearly that rule is not enforced
Positive experience: Facility is great. Camp descriptions could be much better. The summer climb camp here is more of a summer camp with a bit of climbing, than a climbing-centric camp.
Fantastic experience: The staff was very friendly and patient teaching us as it was our first time. There was a lot of variety of paths to climb and different skill levels. I loved the auto belay so we could go at our own pace and explore. Definitely a good workout and I'm exhausted!
Fantastic experience: I had a great time bouldering here! The gym was very clean and the routes ranged from easy to challenging
Fantastic experience: Started last year with my friends and I taking the intro package! Went around a bit and tried other climbing gyms and realized there's no other place like Climbers Rock - it just feels like home Also, they've got fun events so I mean where else would you want to be ♂️
Fantastic experience: The staff are super nice I go with my group of friends and our kids every week and the staff even took the time to learn our kids names
Fantastic experience: Excellent staff! We were given all the details and instructions properly! Our kids 14 and 12 had a blast. Now we are looking into getting them into rock climbing on a regular basis. Very nice place lots of fun!
Fantastic experience: My children love Climbers Rock. Staff is very friendly and super helpful. Place is always immaculate, music is bumping, and there is constant revamping of rock walls. Tons of payment/visit/membership options, lots of variety, a children's boulder wall upstairs and overall a fantastic way to get my kids moving and building their confidence. Totally recommend!
Fantastic experience: Amazing place to go to for March break with the kids! Great indoor activity and the kids (ages 6-11) had a blast, even wanted to go back the next day! Staff was all really kind and helpful and provided a safe and informative training before we started climbing!
Fantastic experience: Daughter really enjoyed the heights! And she didn't fall...
Fantastic experience: I love this gym so much. One of the very few gyms with V grades still. The settings were amazing and the comp wall was challenging. I’m jealous of those who have CR as their home gym because they have all the amenities I need to kilterboard, sport climb/boulder, train, eat, have fun and get my my shoes resoled! Their cafeteria is still under renos but I’m sure it’ll look amazing! Can’t wait to come back! Day passes are also affordable at $20 per adult.
Positive experience: Decent place setting is good, problems are fun and engaging not just a straight ladder. Day pass price feels a bit steep at $28. Weight room doesnt really have much equipment just 1 bench so if more that 1 person wants to train it might be a issue. But it is nice that they have a kilter board and hang board area.
Positive experience: Good place. It was my first time and it got a little boring for me as there were not enough begennier options in bouldering. Mostly watched more experienced folks trying their hands on it. It was an average experience.
Positive experience: Great place, rentals are in repair, and the routes are changed frequently. Very impressed by how clean they keep the bathrooms as well lol
Fantastic experience: Climber's Rock has always been an awesome gym to visit. We hadn't been since before the pandemic began, and were blown away with all the awesome updates that have been made. The gym is clean, the staff are courteous, and the climbing is stellar. Will definitely be back!
Fantastic experience: Outstanding climbing gym with a huge selection of routes for all abilities. The staff are always very friendly, helpful and knowledgeable.
Fantastic experience: Wonderful gym and great for the kids. They have several auto belayers that the kids love and a more advanced area and bouldering. Highly recommended.
Fantastic experience: Excellent facility with lots of walls to choose from with varying difficulty levels. Staff are friendly and washrooms are very clean and modern. I recommend the punch card for better value per climb.
Positive experience: Really good place would recommend plus get the passes in October because it’s like 300$ cheaper
Positive experience: I enjoy the place, it halls many different climbing options for different skill levels
Fantastic experience: Climber's Rock is a great climbing gym with many amazing amenities. Check out the new children's area, where you can get your children started in an atmosphere designed specifically for them! Two gyms upstairs provide everything you need to get you in shape for climbing and more, and soon, they will have a cafeteria area where you can grab a snack and a drink. This is the premiere gym in Southwest Ontario as it offers amazing climbing, bouldering and more amenities than any other gym I have been to!
Fantastic experience: Great experience, my friend and I got the two month "try us out" membership and it has us hooked. Staff are incredibly friendly and understanding when its your first time.
Fantastic experience: Got the two month membership here. Im a first time climber and I absolutely love this gym. Ive been going for about 5 days a week for 2 months now and am consistently climbing v3-v4 now (at first i could only climb v0-v1) . Always so many routes to choose from, i love giving them all a try, even the impossible looking “v12”s, and they change up the routes very very often so theres always something new to try. Also the training rooms upstairs are great for warming up or building strength. Will definitely be getting the annual membership.
Positive experience: The staff was friendly and the place was overall clean. I am a beginner and have never done climbing before and found that the options and easier routes were difficult for me. I would not really recommend this place for those who are beginners as there is not a lot of easier options. The gym itself is large but i felt that most routes i could not attempt as they were too hard or i wasn’t certified. For drop in rate at $25 per person i don’t think it’s worth it to come back especially due to the difficulty and lack of options for beginners
Fantastic experience: Great place for newcomer's and experienced climbers massive facility with both bouldering and rope and belay!
Fantastic experience: I love going here. Many great rock climbing problems/routes to work on. Updates every week. Both high ropes and bouldering.
Positive experience: A climbing gym that has bouldering, top rope, lead, and auto belays! It seems super new as it still has that great Home Depot smell. It's a little squished together in the bouldering area. The rest of the gym is well thought out. There's an area at the front door coats and a sink right here too to wash up. Lockers are located up a set of stairs.
Positive experience: Lots of climbing space. Top rope and bouldering and kids classes as well as an exercise room. The facility is huge. 3 stories high and keeps going back.
Positive experience: Clean, large nice climbing gym with lots of toprope, lead and bouldering. All routes are not as tall as the tallest at grr, but this has a much nicer cave option for lead climbing
Positive experience: Great place to do some climbing, friendly staff, large variety of climbs both bouldering and top rope with new climbs every week. If you haven't climbed before and are thinking about getting into it I would advise starting in August as you can take advantage of the new member 2 month pass then when it is completed it will be October so you can decide if you wish to continue and if so get the heavily discounted Rocktober membership.
Fantastic experience: I love Climbers Rock. I've been going on and off for years. Great facility, a large variety of bouldering and top rope/lead climbing, and the routes get refreshed often.
Fantastic experience: Great facilities, always new and challenging climbs to try. All the staff are friendly and knowledgeable. The youth academy program is excellent as well.
Fantastic experience: This place is awesome! My daughter loves it. The place is super clean especially the washrooms! The staff there was so caring and showed us around on our first day. He showed us the age appropriate walls for her to climb. My daughter was so excited to tell him she climbed the wall and he was kind enough to pretend to care. haha The fact that he showed kindness to her made the experience great and we have been going back. She even gave her a sticker and that made her day. Great place for kids and adults and clean.
Fantastic experience: Great gym. Very friendly and knowledgeable staff. Lots of top rope, bouldering, and lead climbing. They have a nice selection of events and programs for climbers of all ages.
Positive experience: I like this gym but honestly I've been priced out of it which sucks. I know inflation keeps going up but every time I come back off a pregnancy I find the price keeps getting higher and higher.after being pregnant I start pretty much back at square 1 and that's a lot of cash to drop when I'm basically only climbing the beginner routes to get back up to par
Positive experience: Setting is still good, but as a training facility they are not up to standard compared to other gyms
Fantastic experience: First time there, Alex was awesome with the training. Patient professional, made me feel at ease. Especially since I'm over 50 I was a little nervous to do this. Thanks for making it fun!
Fantastic experience: This is a pretty cool place! I was there to hang out and watch my husband and his friends climb (I didn't climb because honestly, I'm the reason places like this make everyone sign the accident waivers. I'm about as graceful and talented as a giraffe on rollerskates.) I did have fun watching though! So many talented climbers! Very clean location with tons of climbing space and options. Bathrooms and changing areas are clean and really nice! The guys had a great time and we are thinking about bringing our kids sometime.
Fantastic experience: By far the cleanest and nicest climbing gym in the GTA. Staff are friendly and knowledgeable, size of the facility is large enough to support a decent amount of bouldering, lead, and top rope for people with different levels of climbing skills. You can tell the owners/staff who enjoy climbing have put real thought into what this gym offers to customers. I only wish I lived closer! Note that the comp wall is under construction and not accessible as of July 5
Fantastic experience: Newly renovated and they set new bouldering routes weekly. Very clean, amazing staff and they also have auto belays. Great for climbers of all levels!
Fantastic experience: I have been to many gyms, and this one is wonderful. I injured my hand a while ago and they were very understanding of my situation and gave me the time away to heal properly. The bouldering wall is massive and has a wonderful shape, plus there’s lots of top roping and lead routes :)
Fantastic experience: Amazing staff. Love this place, new routes. Clean and well kept. Lots of things to do and learn.
Fantastic experience: Clean area with lots of room to climb. Good for various abilities. Super friendly staff.
Fantastic experience: This is a fantastic rock climbing gym, friendly people, staff are incredible and they keep all the routes fresh regularly. Definitely recommended
Fantastic experience: Absolutely love this gym. Walls are constantly changed but there's always enough time to work on your favourites. Everyone is very friendly and always happy to help. I would recommend this gym for all levels of climbers as they have very easy walls for beginners and a variety of competitive level walls too. Always super clean and very safe. Absolutely deserving of 5 stars.
Fantastic experience: Great amount of bouldering, lead climbing and top wall! Family-friendly and amazing staff! I highly recommend trying it out!
Fantastic experience: Great rock climbing place! Super friendly, knowledgeable and helpful staff. Will go again for sure!
Fantastic experience: All the staff are very friendly, it is clean and welcoming and a really nice community. They update the climbs often and have a good amount of auto belay.
Fantastic experience: I only did the 2 month initial membership there before having to leave Burlington and I absolutely loved it. Great helpful staff. The rentals were included in the first timer membership. The routes were changed often and overall just a fantastic experience
Fantastic experience: Good place to top rope and Boulder. Note the walls are not grippy like sand paper. It is slick like climbing on rocks.
Fantastic experience: Huge facility with a good variety of top rope climbs and bouldering. Easy to use online booking system (during covid restrictions). Friendly and helpful staff.
Fantastic experience: Overall the facility is pretty nice. Plenty of variety in routes for bouldering, top rope and autobelay to keep you busy. It's typically extremely busy especially from 3-7p weeknights. Also the pricing is kind of steep and just as expensive as a gym in downtown Toronto. Up to you. Most staff are definitely helpful and accommodating. Bring a friend here and show them the sport, it's a new climber friendly place.
Fantastic experience: Climbers Rock is definitely my favourite climbing gym in the GTA. I've been to quite a number and I have to say I'm very impressed with the layout of the whole climbing space. Kids and adults each have their own bouldering and top rope areas. There's a designated comp wall and a training space for those aged 14 and above. I absolutely loved the variety of top rope routes at the gym, and appreciated the tags as to which ones would be reset soon. All in all, can't wait to come back!
Positive experience: Its got a few v0 to v2 maybe 5? Overall this is made for advanced people. Expensive fot beginners and novices who dont pay the annual fee. I would not recommend this place for free climbing for novices. The staff are friendly. But prices are high and the majority of routes are very advanced.
Fantastic experience: Great experience, nice selection of walls and the girl at the front desk was very helpful to us beginners- it really made a difference. We’ll be back. ♂️
Fantastic experience: Best place for rock climbing and largest one I have been to! For kids, check out the weekend program for supervised youth climbing. It is very reasonably priced and the kids get to try both bouldering and climbing. The owner and staff are friendly and professional. Once I called them before business hours so nobody picked up but the owner called me back once they opened. This is how much they care about their customers. Beware of some angry reviews giving bad rating only because they were requested to show medical proof to access the facility. It is the province's decision and not the business' fault which is just abiding by the law
Fantastic experience: Really friendly staff and a great place to climb. The bouldering wall is really quite impressive and they do a good job of moving the auto belay equipment around the walls so you can get a chance to do everything with or without a partner.
Fantastic experience: Great gym. Great pricing. Best bouldering west of boulderz.
Negative experience: The quality of this gym has been on a steady decline for awhile now. It’s pretty clear all they care about is their youth climbing program. This gym used to feel like a community. We all waited for the new “renovation”. What we got was a Boulder lab for their youth program and a fancy sink for the rest of the paying members. The only people that benefited from the big Reno was their bottom line. The decision to turn off commenting on their Instagram vaccine mandate announcement says they know what they’re doing is wrong. They can call it what they want but at the end of the day it’s discrimination. I highly doubt this mandate will stick, but I hope we all remember the businesses/individuals that helped bring people together and the ones that divided us. Well done CR!
Negative experience: The worst experience we have ever had, the owner "James" refused to speak to me regarding the safety of my kids at their summer camp.I asked for a phone call, not getting anywhere with the youth "camp director ", he refused a phone call twice, insisted I email him my concerns, when I asked for him to call me again, he sent back an email stating he has talked to some of the coaches and they all agree the kids were great.... he has no idea what my concerns are! The camp director called me at work to come pick up my son because " he was tired"... don't waste your time or money. They don't care.
Fantastic experience: This is my favorite climbing gym. I've been all around Ontario and this is always the gym I like going to. The staff that work and the people that climb there are all super friendly and supportive. The walls might not be as tall as some of the other gyms but them compensate by making the top rope routes tricky and fun. They have a great selection of bouldering climbs as well. There is talk of a Cafe and a training gym in the building! Highly recommend it!
Positive experience: Incredibly friendly staff and a great facility for bouldering and new climbers. Not the best for experienced climbers but would recommend taking a friend to try and get them into climbing.
