MOVATI Athletic Mississauga: Opinions
Fantastic experience: I feel this gym should be 24/7 to lessen the busyness, overcrowded after 5. Otherwise it’s a good gym. I like
Negative experience: I canceled my Movati membership because it’s just way too crowded now. They keep signing up new members, and it feels like they’re not thinking about how packed it’s getting. It’s hard to enjoy the gym when it’s always so busy.
Fantastic experience: SALESPERSON ADVICE: If you're looking for a friendly, fair, knowledgeable salesperson who is kind and isn't sneaky, then ask for JOSIAH. We signed up with him and was a breeze to work with. He knew his stuff and wasn't money hungry. Thank you for a positive experience, Josiah!
Negative experience: Had them put my account on pause and didn’t tell me when it would be reactivated and ended up charging me. They wouldn’t reverse the charge :(
Negative experience: Ordering a protein shake from this place is the slowest most painful experience. No customer care, they just socially with other customers. Take 10 minutes to get one shake. Other staff just hanging around. Life Time has a dedicated service staff, attentive, and real customer care.
Negative experience: The new blue app is terrible. For swimming it doesn't show last hour on going classes so you need to ask the front desk which pool is available for length swim. And also the women's pool is too busy with classes not much availability for length swimming. The universal pool is not women's friendly...they should have the cafeteria window tinted.
Fantastic experience: Shoutout to Nathan for getting my friend and I set up with a membership! He prepared tea for us, gave us a thorough tour, and was incredibly knowledgeable and friendly. We're so excited to begin our wellness journey!
Positive experience: One of the best lifting gyms. Had to take off 1 star due to the overcrowding. You’re not working out , if you’re arriving at 5pm. This gym is still incredibly busy during off peak hours from 10am-4pm during weekdays.
Positive experience: Please invest in a 2nd smith machine, its a popular piece of equipment because of how versatile it is, we have a seated shoulder press right next to it that I've never seen anyone actually use. Been a member since 2020, it can be a decent place to get a lift in at very SPECIFIC times of the day. It has gotten overcrowded, I understand it's a business first and membership is a part of that but man we need duplicates of the more popular pieces of equipment and remove stuff that isn't being used (I have a list). I've thought about getting a 2nd gym membership elsewhere at this point cause it's that bad if I go at the wrong time but it really shouldn't be coming to that.
Negative experience: Just look through 1-star ratings and you’ll see there are major issues at this gym. I was a member from their opening till until recently. They forced a price increase on members who already had signed agreements. The personal trainer + staff behaviour as a whole is so inconsistent, rude, inappropriate and unwelcoming. The level of arrogance of some of the trainers is hilarious, if you were doing so great why ya stuck in Mississauga? lol
Negative experience: Shortly after joining the gym, someone broke the lock on my locker and stole my wallet, including all my credit and debit cards. I am here to express my frustration stems from the theft incident that occurred on Movati gym premises. Despite reporting the theft to the front desk at the time, it appears that no significant action was taken to prevent similar incidents. This lack of response has made me feel unsafe as a member and is the reason I have avoided carrying my wallet into the gym since then. Actually, I had to spend considerable time and effort for replacing my stolen bank cards and updating my automatic and authorized payments. The situation caused me considerable distress and ongoing anxiety, affecting my peace of mind long after the incident.
Negative experience: I have been a member at the gym for over one year. It used to be really good but now it’s super crowded and dirty. The worst thing about the gym is there stupid cancellation policy, if you want to cancel your membership you need to go to the gym in person. I really don’t understand why do they need you to come to the gym if u don’t want to keep there service. Also if you want to cancel you membership you need to give 1month notice. Really bad gym
Negative experience: Searching for a women’s only gym with a pool since I’m disabled… -EDIT THEY HAVE CAMERAS IN THE WOMENS ONLY SECTION INCLUDING POOL look at the photos- why do I pay 70$/biweekly and can’t use the pool because there’s classes booked back to back with only 15-30 minutes in between… trash policy, pushy sales focused employees as ‘consultants’. Hate the year contract, definitely not worth 120$/month if I can’t use what I specifically came for!!
Positive experience: I've been a member for over a year. Used to be clean and offer the "first class" feeling you pay for. I'm not sure what happened. It is no longer as clean. I wear white flip flops that noŵ have turned black on the bottom, that never happened before. People are bringing their luggage into the pool area, people are eating in the pool area, some wear full gym wear into the pool, I'm talking tshirt and capris etc. Not to mention the people that wear their outdoor shoes in the sauna and step on the seats that others sit on....it's really becoming just a regular gym with a high price tag.
Negative experience: I have finally got in the groove with rhythm and beats spin 12pm class. I look forward to the instructor,Jennifer's class. She is motivating and works us to our personal limits by being involved and interactive. Today I am shocked. I have never seen any coupe quite like it. New instructor. Apparently a scheduling error. I call BS. Wow how rude, disrespectful and unprofessional to the members and Jennifer. She wasnt even apprised. The new instructor said it would be interactive class. Zero. All we did was look at bike controls. Instructor couldnt talk much to encourage us because she was out of breath. Geez. So rude and unprofessional to all involved. I make a significant effort to get to the class.
Negative experience: Been a member for a few months now. I would have cancelled in the 10-day window if the staff told me about it, but unfortunately I learned this after about 14 days. I was told I could freeze my membership but when I had to have surgery I was informed this was not the case and just given a worthless apology. The gym has great equipment and amenities, but after 5pm on weekdays they are almost unusable with the amount of people. I worked at a different gym for 2 years, so I knew that it got busy in the evenings, which is why I specifically asked how busy it got and the sales rep lied to my face saying "this is about as busy as it gets" at 1-2pm, which is actually when it is the quietest. If you don't mind overcrowding, high fees, and deceptive staff who couldn't care less, this might be the gym for you.
Fantastic experience: I’ve started going to Movati mainly because of a back and spine injury and attending the aqua fitness classes was more of a chore than anything else since I’ve always hated going to gyms. But not until I met Lisa and her amazing energy and personality that I now look forward to all my classes with her and the amazing women I met while attending the classes. Her passion and love for what she does and love towards everyone makes the classes so much more enjoyable. I can say that I have found not only a fitness instructor but also someone that I can call a friend. Thank u so so much. ❤️
Fantastic experience: Mathew runs an excellent youth program. My son loves it and Mathew works the kids hard. I stopped using the change room bc of drug dealing and people using cameras to take pictures. Some other reviews mention this problem. Still, Movati better than ghetto good life and la fitness.
Fantastic experience: Really nice gym for the price. Equipment taken care of, friendly staff such as parmvir. Usually at front desk always answers any questions and helps you out. Would recommend to friends and family.
Negative experience: I've been a member of Movati for two years and absolutely loved it. I had to cancel my membership because I was moving, but the move fell through. Now that I want to return, I’ve found the membership staff to be really unhelpful and uninterested. It feels like I’m getting the cold shoulder no matter who I talk to, and they seem more like those satire customer service reps who just don’t care. I really wish they'd hire people with better communication skills. It’s a shame because the gym itself was great.
Negative experience: Movati club is a good facility but beware of payment scams- they never tell you that up front when you sign up - they upsell you the package with the freeze account capability etc but you can’t freeze without going in person and despite giving a cancellation notice over the phone multiple times and being told that their payment wont be halted unless you go in person to sign- never once was told that - you have to pay for a WHOLE MONTH after cancelling membership ( by signing in person)!
Fantastic experience: Nice club in general. Gursingh at the front desk is absolutely an awesome guy. He is ver consistent and pleasant. I was inquiring about something recently and he provided excellent customer service. He took the time to understand what I required and he fulfilled it promptly. Thanks Gursingh for always being pleasant.
Positive experience: If I could only review Olivia, a PT and pilates coach, my review would be 5+ stars. I signed up for three days a week and saw really great progress with what I could lift, my tone, and my overall comfort in the gym. Olivia is so knowledgable, kind, funny, and generally cares about your progress (this Movati is known for being cash grabby so she really stands out as someone who prioritizes my results and goals). She offers a few different pilates classes at different levels — I go to the easier and harder class back to back and I notice a huge difference. Pretty surprised about a comment I saw about Olivia spending a lot of time stretching. I’ve been going 1-2 to pilates with Olivia since it started in April and that was never my experience. I have also heard people highly recommend Angie Fumo’s yoga and pilates classes! Super safe spaces, really knowledgable and caring instructor Why Movati didn’t get 5 stars: This gym is expensive. In a Game Plan Session, one of the managers was pretty pushy getting me to commit to 12 months (I decided on 3, and added on every few months). You can’t leave the contract once you commit. They are super pushy. There’s been a few bad interactions with PTs that have made my experience pretty negative — this never applies to Christian, Olivia and Oshune who are all great, friendly, and helpful! There’s been countless times where I’ve been waiting at the PT desk and PTs are chatting, laughing, and avoiding eye contact with me. It changes for a few weeks whenever someone leaves a review about it, but it always goes back to the way it is. The dynamic can often feel like high school — not very comfortable. You can tell there’s a lot of internal favouritism with who is promoted. The PT manager Tyler has interrupted my PTs session countless times to ask my PT questions or reminder her of things — it just seems like bad communication and management, especially with how much I’m paying. Finally, THIS Movati is well known by members for its exclusionary treatment to Black/POC and older trainers and instructors. Despite many of the POC and older trainers/instructors being great, and honestly, the reason I still bother to keep my membership, they go extremely under appreciated and overworked. Tldr: Olivia and Angie are amazing, but Movati as a gym/organization wouldn’t be worth paying for without them.
Fantastic experience: I love this place I come here 3 times at least per week I love the equipment and the cleanisess A big up to FEZEKA always smiling and giving me the motivation to work harder !!!!
Negative experience: My friend and I have attended a couple of Pilates reformer classes and despite being charged 40$ for each class, it’s not worth it. I’ve attended classes with numerous instructors and I have to say by far Olivia has the worst classes I’ve been to. Reason being Olivia starts and ends the class by stretching for 10 minutes each and we are only getting 30 minutes of actual Pilates. Secondly she does not correct your form and isn’t hands on like the others. She is nice and welcoming but I am not paying 40$ to just stretch for 20 minutes and have the class end 10 minutes early. Regardless of what class you attend of hers, the intensity is the same despite being intermediate. In general Pilates reformers is not worth it because 8 people to 1 instructor slows the class down because they’re always trying to correct the noobies form which makes it frustrating for somebody who came to an intermediate class.
Fantastic experience: When me and mom came to visit the gym we wanted a tour but it was almost 10 pm, then this employee called Malcom decided to tour us and this tour that he gave convinced us to buy a membership.
Negative experience: I was a member at Movati for two years and had to cancel my membership due to moving countries. When I decided to stay back for a bit, I called to inquire about a month-to-month membership. Unfortunately, the staff member I spoke with had a very non-serious attitude and struggled to answer my questions. It felt like they didn't want my business at all. Movati could be a much better place if they improved their customer service and hired more professional staff!!
Negative experience: I have been going to Movati since they opened their doors at the Mississauga location. Briefly cancelled and resumed my membership last year. When I requested a freeze a few months back, I was told I do not have the option to freeze although it was never discussed when I resumed my membership. Yesterday I went to the gym and asked for a new fob since the one I was provided broke; I was given the option to download their app or pay $6 for a new fob… I really did not appreciate that.
Negative experience: I'm very disappointed with my experience at Movati Athletic. When I signed up, I wasn't informed about the mandatory one-year contract. I later discovered that I have to either wait a full year to cancel my membership or find someone to transfer it to, which is incredibly frustrating and inconvenient. If you want to sign any contract with them, I think you should ask and confirm about this beforehand. For the price they charge, I expected better facilities. Unfortunately, the gym equipment and amenities don't live up to the premium cost. Overall, I feel that Movati Athletic overpromises and underdelivers, and I wouldn't recommend it to anyone considering a gym membership.
Fantastic experience: love the experience here at movati. Adam and Seb are super charismatic and made me a great shake 10/10 experience!!!!
Negative experience: Money grabbing gym. Overly busy and overpriced. The equipment is outdated and the staff don’t care about the customers. Pretty much got trapped into a contract. Make sure you ask to see it because they have no intention of showing it to you. I requested to cancel it. I was one day late over a 10 day cancellation period, which they didn’t tell me I couldn’t cancel the membership at any point. The staff are all money hungry. Pretty embarrassing.
Fantastic experience: Jenn G's Rock Bottom classes are an absolute game-changer! Specializing in lower-body muscle toning and strength training, Jenn brings an incredible level of energy and expertise to each session. She has an amazing ability to motivate and inspire, pushing everyone to exceed their limits in the most encouraging way possible. Her classes are both challenging and fun, and I always leave feeling stronger and more accomplished. If you're serious about improving your fitness, you won’t find a better instructor than Jenn G. Highly recommended!
Negative experience: The gym has good amenities and is always clean. Front desk staff are very difficult to deal with and poorly trained. There are always mistakes with billing, scheduling, etc. Their new app (July 2024) is as useless as the old one. Service does not feel premium or reflect the price of this gym.
Fantastic experience: I am loving Movati, the classes, the people and the lovely instructors! I joined Movati for the female only pool. I’ve had back issues for years and have been looking for a pool that suits my schedule. This is one of the few gyms that offers a female only pool with classes. I’ve taken all the different types of aqua classes offered and they are all good. I especially enjoy classes with Lisa, Marie and Laura! Lisa is my favourite aqua instructor! She does the aqua sculpt and aqua zumba classes and is fantastic! She has great choreography/ routine, music and is very engaging. She’s super friendly and her classes feel more like a community to me. I look forward to seeing her and some lovely ladies Ive met at Movati. I’ve also taken some land classes (yoga, meditation, etc.) and they have also been good.
Positive experience: I just wanted to say thank you to Sarah Moody for helping me with technical difficulties that I had on the app. She was kind and patient in helping me to resolve my issues. I appreciate all she did for me.
Fantastic experience: From day one Matthew Lee has personalized every session to suit my fitness goals and levels ensuring each workout was challenging yet achievable. I’ve seen significant results in less than a year ! He pays proper attention to form and technique . He’s phenomenal at FST !
Fantastic experience: I can't say enough positive things about my experience with Matthew Lee as my trainer. From day one, Matthew has shown an unparalleled level of knowledge and expertise in fitness and nutrition. His understanding of personalized training programs has been instrumental in my journey towards better health. What sets Matthew apart is his ability to hold me accountable without ever making me feel judged. He genuinely cares about my progress and treats me not just as a client, but as a friend. His honesty and straightforward approach have fostered a trusting relationship where I know I'm getting the best advice possible. Under Matthew's guidance, I've learned amazing things about exercise and healthy eating that have completely transformed my lifestyle. Thanks to his tailored workouts and nutrition plans, I've lost over 20 pounds and have never felt better physically and mentally. If you're looking for a trainer who is not only highly skilled but also compassionate and committed to your success, I wholeheartedly recommend Matthew Lee. He's not just a trainer; he's a game-changer in the best possible way!
Fantastic experience: I went to Movati looking to join on a busy night. The employee who helped me, Malcolm, was extremely knowledgeable and gave me a full tour despite being busy. Thank you Malcolm for making my experience enjoyable and painless!
Fantastic experience: My experience at Movati since January 2024 has been exceptional, largely thanks to my outstanding coach, Selena! From the moment we started, Selena impressed me with her extensive knowledge, empathetic approach, and ability to make every session enjoyable and inclusive. She consistently challenges me while keeping the workouts fun and engaging. Selena is truly a standout and motivating coach! Thank you Selena
Fantastic experience: Been a member of this gym or shall I say club for over an year and a half now, and this hands down is by far the best athletic facility in all of Mississauga by any standards! Always spotlessly clean and the vibes, background music is vivacious! Been attending some classes as well lately amongst them Hot yoga & spinning being my top choices. The spinning class of Rhythm & Beats is my fav of all, and the energy with which instructor Ceara W. conducts the class with is almost electrifying & contagious! Make sure to attend a session of this spinning class with her and see for yourself what positive impact it can have on your day. Great work Ceara!
Fantastic experience: This review is for Mariela B and I’ve titled it “a workout and a show” because when you enter Mariela’s class, you should be ready to be entertained. Her music is upbeat and her energy is up even higher! Her classes mix cardio, strength training and flexibility and she mixes up the exercises so that it’s never boring. She creates a positive and welcoming environment where you feel more like part of a community than just a fitness class. Sometimes she’ll even include a “choose your own adventure” theme so if you’re passionate about a particular move or muscle group that’s included in the workout… which is so satisfying She always provides options so that you can modify the workout to your own intensity, but have no fear, she will always push you to your limits Mariela is by far the best trainer that I’ve worked with. She gets fitness and she gets people. If you attend one of her classes get ready for one, or all of the following: The best workout of your life A motivational speech A full night club experience A good cry with a friend A friendship that will last a lifetime
Fantastic experience: I have been going to this gym for about 2 months now and I have to say, it is absolutely amazing! Ive had the pleasure to sign up with thee Josiah Rose and he has been very helpful and quick to deal with any questions I have. He also greets me every time I’m there and refers to me by name! He truly is amazing and very friendly! Definitely recommend signing up with him if you’re considering a membership!
Positive experience: I joined Movati last fall and signed up with a personal trainer for the first 6 months. Christian, my personal trainer, was quite knowledgeable and helpful. His expertise was evident in the way he conducted workout sessions to my individual needs. His guidance was beneficial in achieving my fitness goals, and his supportive approach made training sessions productive and enjoyable. While there's always room for growth, I appreciated his efforts and dedication to my progress.
Fantastic experience: This movati location is great. THEE Josiah Rose is amazing. I’ve had the pleasure of being signed up by him and brought my kid to sign up with him as well. He is friendly, Personable and a great person to chat with. He remembers us and greets us by name every time, which I find probably the most endearing and genuine form of customer service. He is my favorite person at this location by far!!!
Negative experience: Disappointed with the way one of their supervisor spoke. SARA MOODEY is very non accommodating and rude. Very bad behaviour and being in sales myself, it is unacceptable. It was about wrong cancellation and then transfer and they made a mistake and said the membership is canceled but then kept deducting money. Very rude behaviour in handling customer request and did not even listen properly and kept shutting us down. Anyways gym is good for workouts and nice staff except the one mentioned above.
Positive experience: My only issue with the gym is the free session with the personal trainer that I got. I suppose it's just him as an individual. He tried selling himself so hard that it turned me off from going to the gym for a week. He basically said that there is no point in going to a gym without a personal trainer. Other than that, the gym is good compared to its competitors.
Fantastic experience: great location, although it is a little hidden. Friendly staff, great all women's section + all woman's swimming pool!. I recommend you check out this location if live in the area!
Fantastic experience: Clean gym with good facilities, friendly staff. Would recommend PT Christian; worked with him and he emphasizes instruction on technique/form to best perform exercises.
Fantastic experience: My decision on joining Movati around a year ago, has been nothing but a blissful, inspiring, & motivating experience and I cannot wait to continue growing with my journey alongside, my fellow gym family! A big shoutout and special thanks to Christian!! from the moment I met this wonderful personal trainer and now good friend, he has made my experience here at movati even more wonderful than it already it is. From the smile every time I see him, to the life/body changes I’ve seen since I took his advice, I can whole heartedly say he’s someone I genuinely feel safe around to speak about my body goals as he makes it a judgement free zone + much more! Christian if you see this, thank you x1000.
Fantastic experience: I love this gym. Not only is it clean as I constantly see staff in and around the gym cleaning, the staff are always welcoming. But also my trainer Christian, he’s amazing. I’ve had trainers before and he comes out at the top. He understands how important your fitness goals are, he’s knowledgeable, he’ll always want to push you to be a better version of yourself, overall Christian is a great trainer I wouldn’t have asked anyone better to help me reach my fitness goals.
Fantastic experience: I’m a new member this gym and I couldn’t be more happier. I just left another gym but I kept the best of it, the instructor. This morning I did a Tabatha class, she’s amazing, only super good music, push you over your limit to reach your goal. They also have a large choices of fitness classes, if you are looking for a fancy gym, with the best instructor, MOVATI is the gym you must go !!! 20/06/2024 Went in MOVATI today for a Tabata class with Jennifer. Omg this girl is just fire , the energy was a blast, the best class I attended so far at MOVATI ,
Positive experience: Really nice gym, sometimes a bit too packed. Staff are really nice especially the cleaning staff, they do a great job of making sure everything is clean. Fezeka is always encouraging and kind to talk to, makes me feel wonderful every time I run into her on the weekends!
Negative experience: Hi Natalie, My name is Payal…I am a member. I have been doing hot yoga for past 1 1/2 year at MOVATI. I have some concern regarding the hot room. The instructors are leaving the door open of the room when we are doing the class and also when they let us in…the noise from the outside reaches when we are trying to do yoga or when we come early to be in the room to relax. I think we need instructors who like to be in the hot room. I hope you will address this issue with the instructors. Yoga studio is where you can meditate before the class starts…if the instructors leave the room open so that the hot room can be cold before they start then that’s a big problem. Will wait for your response. This was my email almost 2 months back…I have not heard from them. This is what we get when you join a so called premium gym/club. Hi Natalie This is my second email to you…still waiting for a reply…I guess you are very busy. I am not happy with the hot yoga classes…teachers are switching on the fan, opening the door in between the classes. I am paying for HOT yoga. It’s not fair that I have to deal with this. What is even more disappointing as mentioned above is a complete ignorance of my email before. I am hoping that this catches your attention this time.
Fantastic experience: I called in and had some questions about my membership. Advisor Jonah helped me out a lot and took the time to answer all the questions I had. Customer service is top notch here!
Fantastic experience: Josiah Rose, was really helpful he made my experience truly a great one , he made my decision very easy. Come see Josiah for your membership. His grand tour was great, informative and quick.
Fantastic experience: I’ve never liked going to classes before coming to Movati. They have a variety of classes suitable for everyone. shoutout to Sofia K for being an amazing instructor Definitely worth it!
Fantastic experience: Just started my membership here. Shoutout to Josiah Rose for being so helpful. This club is very clean and modern.
Negative experience: This is the worst investment I've ever made. For me and my wife, I spend over 3 thousand dollars and no matter what time of the day your going there's NEVER any equipment available nor space or bench to do your exercises. If you find a treadmill available, by a lottery ticket cause it's your lucky day. If you're a Kardashian that's the place for you cause there's plenty of room to hang out and show your half naked body, you'll fit perfectly with the crowd there. I really can't recommend that place if you are taking your health seriously.
Fantastic experience: I recently had the pleasure of interacting with Gursingh at Movati, and I must say, it was an exceptional customer service experience. From the moment I walked in, Gursingh greeted me with a warm smile and genuine enthusiasm, setting the tone for what turned out to be a fantastic visit. Gursingh's professionalism and dedication were evident throughout my time at Movati. Not only was he knowledgeable about the various services and amenities offered, but he also took the time to understand my needs and preferences, ensuring that I had all the information necessary. He took the time to listen attentively and provided thoughtful recommendations tailored to my fitness goals, making me feel valued as a customer. Moreover, Gursingh's positive attitude and genuine passion for helping others create a welcoming atmosphere that made me feel motivated and inspired to embark on my fitness journey. His enthusiasm was contagious, and I left Movati feeling energized and excited to return. Overall, my experience with Gursingh at Movati was nothing short of exceptional. His outstanding customer service skills, combined with his genuine care and dedication, have truly set a high standard for excellence. I would highly recommend Gursingh to anyone looking for top-notch assistance and support at Movati. Thank you, Gursingh, for making my visit truly memorable!
Fantastic experience: I started to gain weight at a tremendous rate and after visiting my doctor I was diagnosed with Thyroid Cancer. My life changed completely. I gained over 100lbs. Not only was my physical self unrecognizable but my mental state too. Post surgery and 1 year of recovery I am cancer free. My mind and soul were light but my body was left broken and heavy. So I laced up and went back to Movati. I had zero energy. I started in the pool with laps before and after work 3 days a week. That turned into Laps and weights 5 days a week. I started to lose the weight but I still felt stuck, like it was all cosmetic, not athletic. Then I stepped into Jen G's Spin to class and my life changed. I cried at the end of her class because I had such a break through, I was overwhelmed with what she tapped into. She knew the right music to play, when to speed us up, when to cool us down and when to tell us to give her more cause she know we had it in us. AND SHE WAS RIGHT. This woman has single handedly taken me fully out of my comfort zone and into my potential with all eyes on the prize; ME! She made me believe in myself again and in EVERY class pulls something further out of me that I swear wasn't there the class before. SHE IS A MECHINE. She makes you understand that you are not alone by remembering all of her patrons by name and gives you a space for 45mins that is uninterrupted, focused and tuned in on self care. She takes it seriously that you showed up to do something and she bring 110% to make sure you know she's dedicated to you. And she rides with you, every step, every hill, every race and leaves you breathless in all the right ways. Movati THANK YOU for aiding me in my journey to better health. I am now running again, lifting weights, swimming, dancing AND HAVING FUN WHILE DOING IT!! (**tears of gratitude and pride) I run my first Charity 10k of the year this Sunday for Toronto Sporting Life's Camp Circle Fire. I could not have done it without your team and your facility. Die hard fan xoxo "You always have one more...its in your head...find it.." Thank you Jen G! you are my guru
Negative experience: All those looking for a gym, stay away from this place. I'm going to take my time to write this review because I've never had such terrible customer service in my life. I took my family to the gym's Sunday family swim, and the manager, Sarah, started giving us a hard time. We asked if we could just pay and get started, but she went on about the rules for over 15 minutes. Sarah's behavior made my 12-year-old daughter uncomfortable with how rude she was. Sure, she has to follow the rules, but she clearly lacks people skills. It was my wife's birthday, and she ruined it. I'll never go back to this gym, and I'll ask my wife and her friends to cancel their memberships. Worst customer service we have ever experienced.
Fantastic experience: If you're looking for a gym experience that's not just about breaking a sweat but also about feeling motivated and supported, look no further than Jen's classes. Let me tell you, Jen is not just an instructor; she's a fitness powerhouse who knows how to turn a workout into an unforgettable experience. Jen's classes are 5-star, always packed!!! From the moment you step into the studio, you can feel the energy buzzing. And speaking of energy, the music in her classes is hands down the best. But what truly sets Jen apart is her ability to create a sense of community within her classes. You're not just another face in the crowd; you're part of a team, and Jen makes sure you know it. She's constantly cheering you on, pushing you to be your best self, and celebrating your victories along the way. We are so privileged to have such an experienced and caring instructor in this facility. If you haven't tried one of Jen's classes yet, do yourself a favour and sign up ASAP. Your body—and your spirit—will thank you.
Negative experience: Way worse than other gyms at double the price. Cheap Hoist and Lifetime fitness machines, horrible contract terms, and super busy for no reason. Add to that staff with attitude, I never been frustrated with a gym like this before.
Negative experience: I joined this gym a few months ago, coming from LA Fitness, expecting a premium experience. Yesterday, I hung my polo jacket on the men's locker room coat rack, but when I returned after my workout, it was gone. I know that the contract says the gym isn't responsible for stolen items, but it's frustrating that this happens even in a high-end gym. It feels like no one takes responsibility for this. At the very least, the gym should post a warning on the coat rack saying that belongings could be stolen and advising members to use lockers for their valuables.
Fantastic experience: Rythym and beats spin class and Rock Bottom with Jen G are by far my favourite classes. Jen's energy is unmatched, there's never a dull moment in her classes and she gives us a great workout everytime. I have tried other classes and they are not the same!
Fantastic experience: I’ve loved movati since I joined two years ago, and since I started doing Sofia K’s classes in September my life has genuinely been changed. She is so lovely, and puts so much thought and care into creating fun and challenging programming for everything from barre to bootcamp to aqua classes! I’ve gotten so much more confident about working out since I started going to her classes, as I’ve learned so many new exercises and techniques that I can use outside of class! Sofia always makes sure her classes are accessible to everyone no matter where they are in their fitness journey, and includes modifications to make every exercise doable regardless of your strength or skill level. I genuinely make my schedule around what classes she teaches to make sure I can go to as many as possible! She’s amazing!
Fantastic experience: This review is for Sofia K, you’re the best!!! I switched to Movati because I wanted something a bit different in a gym membership and the variety of classes offered were super intriguing to me. Safe to say, I have not been disappointed! I’ve had nothing short of positive experiences, especially in Sofia’s classes, and I’m always looking forward to them. She never fails to create a warm, welcoming environment. You can tell she is so incredibly caring and wants everyone to succeed, thrive, and do their absolute best in her classes. I admire her positivity and it’s so motivating each time because she genuinely pushes me to be better, and I feel as if I’ve made SO many personal improvements because of her. Sofia’s classes are honestly the highlight of my day, and I would HIGHLY recommend everyone to try it out at least once because she’s the best and I appreciate her dearly, you will not be disappointed!
Fantastic experience: My wife is currently enjoying a 2 week Movato Guest Membership trial voucher. She’s only visited the facility a couple of times but is already thoroughly impressed with the club and its staff. In particular we’d like to give special mention to Jenna (Glatt) Nation who has served as a treasure trove of information regarding membership options. Jenna gets a 5 star rating as a “Good Will” ambassador for the club, in general, and the Mississauga location, in particular. Thank you Jenna.
Fantastic experience: The gym offers so many group classes for different workout. Big thanks for Jenn, as her Tabatha class is amazing. Mariela’s Cardio boxing class is my favourite and Maria is the queen of Zumba classes. These ladies love what they do and it shows.
Negative experience: My experience at the family Swim was very disappointing. Today the staff manager refused to give a commercial gesture and allow my 13 year old to attend this one time for free. My option was to live him in the lobby... Before there was no extra cost for family, hence the name (family Swim!). Now, the Spouse (when not a member) has to pay 10$ and kids from 12 and up also pay 10$. This place is really going downhill, it is all about the money....accepting too many members which impacts waiting time to be able to use a machine, spots in classes and some days you cannot even park at the gym, you have to park next door....
Negative experience: I would rate it 1 because they don't let you enter your yoga class if you are late by 2 mins. Not accommodating your clients who drive and come after work all the way for a specific class is not justified. Keep a time limit like other gyms and yoga classes do it. And if that's the case then improve your parking situation Movati Management.
Negative experience: Really overcrowded now, I have cancelled my membership. Within this past year the new member numbers have exponentially increased to the point where I have anxiety if I’m at the gym and it hits 430pm, every area in the club is packed. I have tried coming late night, at 9pm - still crowded, it starts dying down maybe by 10:30 pm then you have 1-1.5 hrs, if you are lucky, to get a decent workout in. I have asked about the gym times being extended to 24 hrs but my question was just skirted around and never answered. I have changed my life schedule to work out when MOVATI isn’t busy which is a very small window, if any, due to the crowd situation, but now I no longer wish to do this. There are a lot of other incidents I have experienced, I had my car broken into and items stolen. I asked one of the managers, immediately after discovering the theft, to look at the car park security cameras, and she refused to do so unless I filed an online non urgent police report, which I did in-front of her. She proceeded to tell me that only when the police investigated my case and they instructed her to look at and/or share video footage would she do so, otherwise she would not, especially at my request. Till today, almost 3 months now, my non urgent PEEL police case, still hasn’t been validated/ looked at by the police dept, so, I have given up on ever retrieving the stolen items. Don’t even get me started on the body scan machine they put you on when you join. Get ready for instant trauma and the evoking of insecurity at your inception to the gym since you are immediately told you are obese, then you get the pressured PTraining hustle. The one girl who did this intro session with me also told me she didn’t understand why, I, as a female, focused on heavy weight lifting workouts for fitness - that’s when I realized I needed to stay away from anyone in that PT dept. When it comes to classes, forget about getting into a Pilates or any other popular class, they are always full within minutes of opening up for booking, and now you have to pay for a Pilates reformer class, no thanks. I truly never felt welcomed or comfortable the entire year of my membership.
Negative experience: This place is gone downhill since I've joined yesterday while in the hot tub with my wife. Two guys got in the hot tub wrapped only in a towel and nothing else! We have seen many men get in with underwear on and now this! Not appropriate in a public setting. It doesn't seem to be rules or any ethics are applied at all at this gym. My girlfriend goes into the universal change room where she has seen men get changed in their underwear in there as well. No modesty required at this gym!
Fantastic experience: I wanted to take a moment to express my sincere appreciation for the incredible experience Josiah created for me since day one at Movati. Your dedication to making all members feel valued and motivated is truly commendable, and I am grateful for the genuine care and support you extend to each of us. Your willingness to go above and beyond to ensure everyone feels included and supported does not go unnoticed, and it's what makes you such an invaluable asset to the Movati community.
Negative experience: I decided to enroll at Movati after trying two weeks with my friend, it was the last 2 weeks of October and the existing offer was to waive the enrolment fees, after speaking with the club representative and trying to get an incentive like a gym bag to enroll I was guaranteed that I was getting the best possible offer and that he would be fired for doing such thing, after I decided to enroll 2 days before November and before my 2 week trail based on what their representative said the November offer was a free gym bag and no enrolment fees, I was lied to to my face. I didn't take it to heart as the gym experience was good and the staff were nice most of the time, change rooms are almost always clean and the pool was also clean, 2 months after enrollment the pool cleanliness deteriorated but this has has been relatively addressed and pool cleaning is now more frequent One of the other reasons I joined is because this club is a "premium" club compared to others yet out of the 3 times forgot an item in the gym i was able to recover my item once, the last time I forgot my wrist bands on the 28th of march and it was a long weekend I came back to look for them in the lost and found on april 1st and was told by the employee that they "got rid" of everything in the lost and found, sigh. I was able to recover everything i forgot at other gyms that cost less than half of this gym If you come at night good luck finding a weight in it's place or a clean machine as most of the members are inconsiderate, I guess nothing i can do about that, I was once told by a staff member to return the weights that someone else left at the equipment I was using. Waiting for the end of my contract to take my business somewhere else.
Negative experience: Great looking facility and much cleaner than most gyms i've been to. Was a bit annoyed at the fact that I had to wait 35+ min just to tour the facility. Had an appointment and everything. Was told to wait at the front and it wasn't until I went back to the front desk did someone help me w/ a tour. Looked like they had to scramble to get someone to take me on a tour. Not sure how long I would've waited if I didn't go back to the front desk. If you know your teams running behind at least schedule me for a later time I'm more than accommodating. Missed opportunity for sure. At least staff were friendly for the most part
Fantastic experience: I started attending the fitness classes at Movati in October 2023, and I must say, I was thoroughly impressed with the instructors. Jennifer G, Alyssa, Angie, Elisabeth, Mariela, Quyen, Sofia, Mariam, and Natalie are all so amazing! They are a dedicated and passionate group of professionals who truly care about their attendees well-being and success. The instructors at Movati possess a wealth of knowledge and expertise in their respective fields. Whether it's a high-intensity cardio class, a challenging strength training session, or a peaceful yoga practice, they know exactly how to guide and motivate everyone to reach their fitness goals. What sets the instructors at Movati apart is their ability to create a positive and inclusive atmosphere. They foster a sense of community within the classes, making everyone feel welcome and supported. I have found the instructors at Movati to be incredibly inspiring. Their energy and enthusiasm are contagious, and they push me to push myself further than I thought possible. They are always encouraging and provide constructive feedback to help me improve my form and technique. Overall, I cannot recommend the fitness instructors at Movati enough. They are a dedicated and talented group who are committed to helping you reach your fitness goals. If you're looking for a motivating and supportive environment to reach your fitness potential, look no further than Movati. Much love and with gratitude, Subby C.
Fantastic experience: This 5 star review is SPECIFICALLY for Blair’s yoga classes. He is BY FAR, the best yoga instructor that works for Movati. How he doesn’t have more classes throughout the week will always leave me puzzled. He is kind, considerate, thoughtful and works with each person wherever they’re at in their yoga journey. He gives modifications for movements where necessary without singling people out and making them feel bad for not being at a higher level compared to others in the class. He has a calm demeanour and soothing voice which helps guide the class through practice. He makes sure to let every single person know that we are doing a yoga practice, not a yoga perfect, and to be kind to yourself through the class, allowing yourself the grace to perform where you’re at today. He provides people with a SAFE space to grow in their practice at their own pace without fear of judgment for needing breaks or moving slower than others. Please, please, please give him more spots for classes at the Mississauga Movati location. He is an amazing instructor that needs more recognition! I would not be signing up for yoga if his name wasn’t on the list. Thank you for making me fall back in love with yoga, Blair! I appreciate you!
Positive experience: After 1 year at Movati here's my experience. Staff: The front staff are a mixed bag. I get it, it's good to be social, however, spending more time gabbing and giving partial attention to clients is not professional. Again, not all staff, some are professional, sweet, and focused, others are just grumpy and a tad standoff'ish. Is customer service a luxury, nowadays? Ground floor gym: I only come for the ground floor gym. Open, spacious, it's amazing! Worth the membership, since there's so many squat racks. No one comes here too, so you can take your time and punch the punching bags all day. Big PLUS! Ambiance: There's always some cheap tech-house playing on loud speakers. It's even in the change room. Also, there are literally 20 TV's fighting for your attention while doing cardio (+ tech house music!!). Feeling like a test patient at a brainwashing facility, lol. I don't need silence/pitch black darkness, but this place is OVER-stimulating as heck. Need a quite spot to stretch? Good luck, the tech-house ghost follows you in every room (sorry, but I don't like blasting my ear-pods to outweigh the gym speakers). The upstairs cross fit area is poorly located. Layout: The design of the weight room is lack luster. Good luck finding a machine during peak hour. ** Folks always wipe down equipment which is really good, I appreciate this!! Parking is a nightmare, esp. with folks' driving/parking etiquette. Crowd: It's a great crowd. Respectable, easy going. Not too many 'camera tripod' divas/bros. I have an issue with the 'intense/provocative workout gear' lady's rock here. I get it, but at the same time, it's straight up vulgar, are there any standards? (It's more intense here than other gyms I've been to in the city). Sorry, I'm a dude, it's hard to focus, sue me! Why is everyone wearing Crocs & squatting barefoot? Some people have a knack for playing their 'trap music' on a bluetooth speaker like they own the place. There needs to be staff walking around to keep the gym etiquette in check!! ** Sauna/Steam: No complaints. Love it. Just 'tech obsessed' folks need to learn to turn OFF their music. This is the only place one can find silence and peace after a workout. No nudity, which is a good thing <3 ** Pool/Hot tub: I never use these facilities, but when I do, it's pretty awesome <3 Though, folks have a full purview of you, as they sit and read a book. Am I the only one that doesn't like being watched? lol ** There's a pool table for chilling after your work out. Classy <3 ** Lady's personal fitness area: Lady's get their own training and swimming pool. This is huge, and I'm sure is really appreciated! Locker room: It's poorly designed, so you're too close to people no matter where you are. Lockers seem secure though. They have great hair dryers (seriously, they're damn good!) Price: Honestly, after a couple of months, I realized I was happier at a lower tier gym but was LOCKED for a year. Be careful don't make a jump if you're not 100% sure you can dish out ($900-$1200)/annum. They have freeze and towel options, but really, other gyms would be a better gamble. *** Yoga studio: This alone is worth the membership, except it's a Western twist on yoga. I prefer no music at all, but we got pop music, Lululemon style yoga. The teachers are great, and the room get's toasty. Plus cold towels after. Overall, it wasn't the best experience, but this location is the best of all the Movati's (as I'm told). I'm a strongly opinionated guy, I prefer a bare bones and clean gym. That's it. Maybe this wasn't a good fit. Happy I came and met the people I did though. Thanks for hearing me complain ^^
Positive experience: This gym makes me excited to come to the gym! No seriously. It feels like a bougie gym LOL. What I like about it is that not only can you workout and attend many classes, but you can chill in the cafe by the entrance and do your own work (which I do sometimes- so if you see me, come say hi LOL). For the most part, the staff are all really friendly and greet you by the door. I love seeing all of their lovely smiling faces! I signed up with Liza and she was helpful throughout the process. We had some issues with admin and I could tell she sincerely cared and did whatever she could to make it better/help. I love seeing you Liza! Keep smiling your beautiful smile. ❤️ I'm also currently training with Adrianna and she is the mostly friendly bubbly personal trainer ever. She makes me so happy to come and I enjoy every moment with her (so easy to talk to). I'm giving it a 4 star because tbh the gym IS expensive and I really don't like that there's no choice to cancel if need be (you have to sign up for the year for the most part- which is a lot of money!). I'm also giving it a 4 star because as much as I love the workers and front desk, the management or admin themselves are not as kind or understanding. I wish they cared more about customer service. There have been times where there was a misunderstanding between workers there. My friend and I were told multiple times we'd get $30 off our membership fee initially, but admin refused to do so because of some 'misunderstanding' and the woman I spoke to did not seem like she cared at all (I can tell a genuine reaction from a fake one). I'm like really, $30? For me, the money didn't matter... it was the lack of empathy and poor service which initially turned me off a lot. Additionally, it would be much better if this gym has a prayer place since many Muslims do come to this gym and it's difficult finding a place to pray. However, leaving that aside, I'm so happy I was able to join and get my workouts in! I hope to continue coming here. I already got told I look great since I've been consistently coming. Thank you to Liza, Adrianna, and the other lovely workers who I see often! UPDATE: I finished training with Adrianna a while ago and I can honestly say she was a phenomenal trainer! She was so kind, down to earth, and friendly. She made me feel SO comfortable from the get-go and allowed me to really push myself. She definitely helped with my confidence and I continuously use the tips and exercises that she taught me- even now months later! If you're looking for a trainer, I highly recommend training with Adriana! She has definitely made a huge impact in my fitness journey and I hope to train with her more! ❤️
Fantastic experience: Movati is a great gym and the trainers are the amazing Ive been training with Wes and he’s the best!! He’s super motivational and encouraging .Since I started training with him I’ve seen MAJOR improvements in my strength and body. I always look forward to our training sessions. I would highly recommend Wes to anyone looking for a trainer.☺️
Fantastic experience: Love this gym! I have been working with Wes since joining and have seen incredible progress in my strength and progress towards my fitness goals. Would highly recommended to anyone looking to join and to consider having a performance coach like Wes to reach your goals.
Fantastic experience: I've been a member for just over a year. I love Movati Mississauga because of the variety of classes they offer that go above and beyond other gyms. I.e restorative yoga, floor pilates, bungee workouts, etc. I also love the coaches here. I've worked out with 3 coaches of Movati and their coaching method goes beyond the average gym. Movati has an awesome workout app where coaches can provide you with workouts, allow you to track your weights, and the coaches can see your comments and concerns during the workout. I'm currently working with Wes Van Hart and his approach to workouts is fantastic. He takes the time to learn your goals, your day-to-day life, and your current activity levels. Wes creates a workout plan that works for your lifestyle so that it's sustainable. He has a wealth of knowledge and is very willing to share everything he knows to help you achieve his goals. This approach coupled with the weekly body scans to track progress, allows you to see results faster than I have anywhere else. And trust me...I've had 7 trainers in 10 years, when I say Movati has good coaches, I mean it.
Negative experience: Used to be good, but is now overcrowded, smelly and low quality. You can never find parking. You have to park in other plazas. Extremely annoying in the wintertime. The yoga classes are always full. Most of the yoga instructors act like boot camp instructors. FYI: putting on a song loudly to do the same routine over and over again isn’t yoga. That’s called laziness. The gym used to be really good a couple of years ago. They got greedy. Wanted more people and now they can’t sustain it ♂️
Fantastic experience: Training with Martin Aniol has been an absolute game-changer for me. Martin creates an encouraging yet challenging environment where every week I am able to reach new milestones in my fitness journey. Martin is always upbeat and fun, and is a blast to train with. It's never a dull moment and I truly look forward to working out. Not only is he able to incorporate creative workouts but he also provides valuable nutrition guidance to help enhance my overall experience. In short, if you're looking for a dedicated, fun and knowledgeable personal trainer for a transformative fitness journey, Martin Aniol comes highly recommended. You won't be disappointed :)
Fantastic experience: I love coming to movati! Jenn is an amazing instructor! She makes you feel excited to workout! I feel I have become so fit and toned thanks to her incredible motivation and effective workouts! She always greets you with a smile and so much enthusiasm!!!! Woooooooooo!!!!!! Sofia is also so good! She pushes you hard and doesn’t let you give up! Natalie takes the time to check in and see how you are doing! I love the high energy and positivity every time I come in! The members are so friendly and you really feel like you are part of a team! Also!!!! Sonia leads an incredible yoga class! I feel I’ve really learned so much about mindfulness and being in the present moment from her. She really lifts you up and makes you feel so at peace. -Oksana
Negative experience: My experience at this gym has been nothing short of disappointing, and I feel compelled to share my grievances to warn others about the toxic environment fostered by both instructors and management. As other members have said, the classes, touted as empowering, have sadly turned into platforms for body shaming. I have witnessed instructors make comments about members to other members as they exit a class. These insensitive comments made by instructors not only go against the principles of inclusivity but actively contribute to an unwelcoming atmosphere. It’s disheartening to witness such behaviour promoted by individuals who are supposed to encourage and uplift members. Adding insult to injury, personal trainers here are not only unprofessional but shockingly rude (Erik, Wes, Ivan). Instead of providing support and guidance, they seem more interested in making snide remarks and creating an uncomfortable atmosphere. A fitness journey is personal, and no one should be subjected to belittlement by the very professionals hired to assist. Beyond the body-shaming atmosphere created by instructors, and the rudeness of the personal trainers, the gym harbors a dangerous environment. Members have been physically threatened and bullied by fellow members, an appalling environment that raises serious questions about the safety and security measures in place. As one can see from the various one star reviews, numerous complaints have been lodged, yet remain unacknowledged and unresolved. Management’s (Andrew S., Tyler) response to these grave concerns has been shockingly inadequate. Despite repeated reports of bullying and physical threats, both of these managers have shown a blatant disregard for the safety and mental well-being of their members. It is a sad testament to their priorities when they choose to silence victims rather than address the root causes of such unacceptable behaviour. I strongly discourage anyone seeking a positive and supportive fitness environment from considering this place. The toxic culture perpetuated by both staff and management reflects poorly on the establishment’s commitment to member well-being. This place is a glaring example of an institution that not only tolerates but perpetuates an unhealthy and unsafe environment. I strongly advise potential members to steer way clear and seek out facilities that prioritise the safety, well being and positive experiences of their paying patrons. There are plenty of other fitness centers that genuinely prioritise a positive and inclusive atmosphere over one that fosters negativity and body shaming. It is truly disheartening to see a gym fail so miserably in its duty to provide a welcoming and secure space for its members.
Fantastic experience: This is a great gym that offers multiple classes to suit your needs. The only way to know if you will like a class is to try it! Trust me you will find what works for you. The change rooms and showers are clean, stocked, and spacious. MOVATI: I would suggest 8 am time slots for morning classes such as intervals and tabata to improve member service. Currently only Friday offers an 8:15 (considering weekdays).
Negative experience: I was a member here for over 2 years. I had the upgrade membership where you could freeze but I never used it. I was unable to come and workout because they closed the daycare. When I told them why I needed to cancel they told me that I needed to come in person to cancel. When I finally came in person they told me they are going to charge me 2 more times even though I said I can’t come in due to childcare limitations. I honestly would’ve just expected better customer service because this place is closer to my house. I don’t think it’s fair to charge someone who is unable to use the facilities. The whole reason I joined was because they have childcare. If they would have reopened the daycare in the future I would have came back if they didn’t charge me extra. I’m outside my contract so it’s just confusing why I’m going to be billed 2 more times and just seems really greedy. Just be careful everyone when you want to cancel do it asap!!!
Fantastic experience: Amazing and clean facility! There’s a lot of great classes offered. In particular, classes offered by Alexandra R are the best! I love her powerbell and kettlebell intervals class. She’s an amazing instructor that pushes you to do your best. I’ve never had an instructor that motivating before! I really want to see more classes offered by her.
Negative experience: Staff do not enforce the rules to make the gym a welcoming and comfortable space. I particularly take issue with use of the sauna - I’ve encountered individuals violating sauna rules a number of times (full frontal nudity, excessive talking, individuals scrolling on social media with their phones on full volume etc.) and despite reporting to staff nothing is done. Others have also complained but it seems that staff are sparing the feelings of few of their members instead of prioritizing the collective despite the pricey cost of membership. I’ve been a member over a year and I’m just very disappointed in the way staff have handled these complaints.
Fantastic experience: Matthew Lee is an exceptional personal trainer, combining extensive knowledge with a personalized approach to workouts. He starts from scratch, ensuring a strong foundation for success. Beyond the physical gains, Matt's engaging sessions and open conversations create an enjoyable and supportive atmosphere. I wholeheartedly recommend him to anyone seeking not just a trainer, but a supportive and knowledgeable fitness companion!
Positive experience: A little confused at the reviews about the parking situation, to me…the parking lot is very spacious and I never have any issues when I arrive. I’ve also reached during peak hours, and still no issues finding a spot. Overall the gym is clean and the clientele is respectful. There are so many classes to choose from, I absolutely love hot yoga sessions and each instructor has been amazing. Cafe/smoothie bar has various choices and great to have after a workout. A few things this gym can approve on is more equipment in both the co-ed side and the woman’s area. I also think for a “luxury” gym there should be a relaxation/recovery zone like how GoodLife has. Massage chairs etc, would make this place perfect. Hoping there will be some new additions in the new year, overall I do love my experience here and recommend this gym others.
Negative experience: The Movtai initially impressed me with its facilities and workouts, offering an amazing experience. However, my enthusiasm waned due to the disappointing behavior of the managers and supervisors, who were exceedingly rude. Additionally, the gym lacks various amenities, which affected my overall satisfaction with the place.
Negative experience: I never leave bad reviews but change is necessary. I’ve been a member for 2 years now but in the past few months Movati has turned into an incredibly crowded ZOO/circus. I’m not able to use any machine… Even mid day it’s crowded… when most people are at work. Every time I’m here they’re giving tours to potential new members. Clearly we don’t need more. Often times the parking lot has no spots available, which is shocking because it’s a very large lot. The cleaners are not able to keep up so the cleanliness has severely decreased.
Fantastic experience: This is my favorite gym I have ever been to. The club is clean, has an amazing variety of machines/classes/ equipment and has the friendliest staff. Even though I live in the US I go out of my way to come to this gym anytime I’m in Toronto. Special shoutout to Gursingh who always makes us feel like welcomed, valued, and appreciated. By far one of the nicest people I’ve met. I highly recommend you come here and ask for Gursingh!
Negative experience: Notice the 5 star reviews that are saying the opposite of all the 1 stars? 5 star reviews in exchange for the chance to win $100 is what Movati is peddling. Try getting a tour at this place between 5-8pm. Checkout the bathrooms, look at the floors, notice all the empty wipe dispensers and the full trash cans. Look at all the random weights & equipment all over which create tripping hazards. Pay attention to the amount of machines that are out of order. Look at the amount of staff they have doing nothing at the front desk and personal training desk upstairs. They're trying to combat the slew of 1 stars after their management (Natalie N and Andrew) body shamed and resorted to ageism to hide the fact that Natalie was ego tripping and didn't want to give the members a class they wanted back. A petition of 62 members signed. CEO, Chuck Kelly was also notified and approves of their behavior because nothing has changed. The members are upset and are exposing the gym for what it really is. It really is just another gym but in this case, a gym that management, including the CEO supports body shaming and ageism. Overpriced, overcrowded, unhygienic. Nothing but an expensive Crunch fitness.
Fantastic experience: Love this gym and Alex r’s classes! Only thing is, she needs more classes! I thoroughly enjoy her workouts and wish there were more time slots available throughout the day for her classes.
Fantastic experience: My husband and I are both members. We love their hot yoga studio, and they have some of the best instructors. Their hot yoga classes have become part of our morning routine on the weekends. Highly recommending trying out one of the classes taught by Lynda B., Matthew, Kasia and Laura C.!!! All fabulous instructors with amazing energy and playlist!!
Negative experience: The 2 stars is for the staff and the staff only. Everyone who works at the front desk are always so sweet and welcoming. The main reason I joined a more “luxury” gym is to have access to classes - mainly spin, and the instructors ALEX, Mayram, and Ceara are beyond incredible. Not only are they super nice and always make you feel comfortable, they provide a great workout every time. It is sad, however, that the biggest negative is the management. I have heard horror stories about management genuinely not caring about people’s concerns and even being mean to their own staff with no consequences (ironic since their staff is the only good thing here) and firing staff for speaking up against body shaming. The gym is beyond crowded all the time with only one leg press, and a small weight rack. Would appreciate less treadmills and some new equipment instead I don’t think it’s worth the price unless you are someone who takes a lot of classes like myself
