Negative experience: DO NOT STAY HERE! me and mom went there and stayed and when we went out to medical appointments one of the maids stole my moms $7,000 rings we left for the appointment and left the rings in her makeup case and when we returned to the room it was made up and the rings were missing the hotel offered no solution and the general manager didn’t have the decency to even call my mom to talk to her about it! This place is a joke

Fantastic experience: An excellent hotel with superb facilities and an outstanding restaurant. Great service all around. If you take the ferry Coho from Port Angeles, WA, the Grand Pacific is directly across the street making it super convenient. We've stayed here several times, and it's always a treat.

Fantastic experience: Super helpful staff, lovely location and room! We loved our stay here, and will be back next time! Also, the pool was nice and large, the hot tub was hot. We had a lovely view of the Christmas lights and the bay. One down side was the rooms tv system, we could not sign into any accounts to rent a movie on a rainy night. I think I. This day and age they should have a bit more options for a cozy night in the hotel room.

Negative experience: What a Garbage hotel.. my girlfriend booked us a room here and I've never had worst service in a hotel in my life. There is so many wonderful places in Victoria to stay. Do not stay the second rate garbage place. They will treat you horribly and look down on you.

Fantastic experience: Excellent hotel experience, quick service, provided ideas for where to explore in the city. The athletics facility was great having access to a full pool, hot tub, and two saunas. Small area for kids too. Dining at fathom was also a very good experience(reviews separately). Great location, very central and a 10 minute walk from downtown.

Positive experience: The overall experience was good. However, some basic hygiene issue with bathroom cleanliness. I noticed mold grew in the sink and that only showed me that was a built up over months and months of negligence. In addition some of the towels had some stain on them. Not from being dirty but because of multiple wash and use that the stain were not washed off even after washing. We couldn’t use the bathroom as we weren’t sure what the tub might be in terms of mold. And when I shared it with the front receptionist they just offered to waved my $20 parking fee. I hope they pay more attention to their sanitation and hygiene…

Positive experience: Rooms are small and showing their age. They were clean so that was at least something. If you plan on coming here, at least upgrade to a larger room! Valet service was non-existent most of the time. Was told to wait at one point. Another time I told my wife to head to our room while I waited for someone to help us. Even had to go in to ask front desk if anyone was working valet. Stayed here previous time and was great. Can't beat the location. Probably will search newer properties next time in town. Unfortunate that the hotel said or did nothing about it either.

Negative experience: Don’t like how we got “upgraded” to a room when it meant being above the ball room during Xmas party season. The ball room is right below you and more meeting rooms with parties are just down the hall from you. Maybe it’s not all the rooms, but 223 was horrible. We had two queens, one was soft and the other was harder than the floor! On our request due to the noise, we got moved to the 6th floor with a single king bed where the bed was almost as hard as the floor.

Fantastic experience: Had a short stay-cation and thoroughly enjoyed being in the inner harbour as a tourist in our own home town. Fathom's food was so good. We did treat ourselves to the Pendray Tea House and thoroughly enjoyed that as well.

Positive experience: Great location, nice room facing the harbor and some of the best cocktails I have had in a while. Only complaint…the woman who checked us in must have been having a bad day. When I approached and said we had a reservation, she responded, “Drivers license and credit card…..welcome to the Grand Pacific” as sort of an afterthought. There was almost no eye contact. I wrote it off to her having a bad day. I booked a king harbor view room through my credit card company. We were sent to a room with two queens. I went back down to get it changed. The same woman was somewhat argumentative and told me I had booked through a third party and they had messed it up. She finally asked if I had the reservation to prove the booking. I did and when I produced it, she moved us to a king room. We travel a lot…..all over the world. Frankly, if they had the king room available, I would have expected her to simply move us….not treat me like I was wrong or trying to put something over on her. Sort of a bad start to our weekend.
Fantastic experience: Can't get any better than this your smack down in center of downtown across the ferry terminal of Blackball and the waterfront. Across I Max and Museum and government building. Amenities galore with Fathom restruant and others near by. Parking garage underneath.

Fantastic experience: Very nice hotel to stay in. I like the indoor pool and the balcony in the room. In December, there are gingerbread exhibition in the lobby. Great location next to the parliament. About 15 mins walk from the downtown area.

Negative experience: If I could give this place zero stars I would. I went there for medical appointments and had to leave my rings in my train case due to the medical tests I was having. When I returned to my room the rings had been taken. They’re worth over $7000 and the hotel simply does not care. They state that they trust their staff. Do not stay here. They don’t care about their customers at all. I’ll be letting everyone I know about this Extremely unhappy customer.

Negative experience: Disappointing Stay at the Grand Pacific Hotel My recent stay at the Grand Pacific Hotel in Victoria, BC, left me feeling quite dissatisfied due to several negative experiences. After a week in the Bay Area, we were looking forward to a relaxing weekend getaway and took the ferry up from Seattle. Unfortunately, our arrival was met with frustration. First, at check-in, we discovered that the hotel did not accept Discover cards, despite us booking our suite with that card two weeks prior to arrival. This unexpected policy forced me to use another card, which I was uncomfortable about. There was no apology or attempt to find a solution—just a straightforward rejection, which felt off-putting and stressful. Upon entering the hotel, the initial welcome was cold. The door staff didn’t greet us, even as we arrived wet from our walk through the rain after disembarking from the ferry. Requesting a bottle of water from the front desk resulted in another "no." We were simply told to drink tap water, which, while practical, lacked the kind of thoughtful hospitality one would expect from a higher-end hotel. The stay worsened with a loud party in the room next to ours (room 950), which disturbed our peace and quiet. Despite this disruption, security either failed to patrol the hallways or chose not to address the issue, leaving us to endure a noisy and restless night. In summary, we were met with a string of "no’s" and a general lack of warmth or hospitality. From unclear credit card policies to indifferent service, our experience did not live up to the expectations of what should have been a pleasant and relaxing weekend. Given our experience, I would not recommend staying here unless significant improvements are made to customer service and guest care. Ricky D. Sadler Seattle, Washington

Regarding bottled water, the Guest Service Agent would have invited you to purchase Earthwater in aluminum containers for a nominal fee at the Front Desk. We do not offer complimentary bottled water. Negative experience: If there was a negative 5 ⭐️ choice,, that would rate this hotel for customer service appropriately! We used to love this hotel. We will unfortunately never book to stay again. We had a 3 night visit booked for December 2024 and was on a WAITLIST to book for July Deuce Days car show weekend. We never were put on a wait list for the past 15 years? We were not sure if we had accommodations which is not ideal as the time inches closer to July 2025. I called a couple of times to confirm if we had room. No confirmation Why are you making customers wait? I called another really nice hotel in Victoria yesterday and our accommodations were accepted on the spot! I have cancelled our 3 day stay at Grand Pacific and will never BEG THEM TO TAKE OUR MONEY AND REPEAT BUSINESS AGAIN! WOW are we dumb. The lesson here folks is don’t be dumb like us, book the EMPRESS same prices and they will welcome you with open arms which is what hotels are suppose to do right??? Dear Ms. Spring, I received your recent emails from my Team this morning. It is unfortunate that you thought you had a confirmed Hotel reservation for the Deuce Days Car Show next summer. My Team clearly communicated to you when you made your initial reservation request that you were being placed on a waitlist and that you did not have a confirmed reservation. If you had a confirmed reservation, you would have received a confirmation from the Hotel at that time. As for our communication on this matter, the time lapse was ten hours. The standard in hotels for email replies is 24 hours. Finally, you imply that you stayed at the Hotel for the past 15 years. Our records indicate that you have never stayed at the Hotel. Positive experience: Instead of staying in our usual spot while visiting Victoria, my wife and I decided to try this hotel. The lobby is magnificent, and we really enjoyed our view of the harbour. The bed left much to be desired as my wife’s back was sore after two nights. The breakfast that was offered with our package was outstanding.

Positive experience: Not the biggest fan of their gym. Equipment is new and shiny, no doubt, but the low ceilings and stuffiness really get to me. Breathing chlorine is no fun. Gym staff is on and off friendly, some are nice, some are straange... The pool rules for doing laps are not really working. A bit odd for such a small pool, but I get that they rely on the local regulars to keep operating. Aqua fit seemed to be enjoyable to the participants and instructor is a dashingly good fit, lol. Lounge and restaurant are quite nice. The rooms are very "classic", not my cup of tea, really. Location is good!
Positive experience: The location was ideal and the check in good even though there was only one rep there. Next time I will book a room facing the city, would be worth the additional cost. Room was clean and tidy, what you should expect from a good hotel, I will stay there again.

Fantastic experience: Reception was very kind and upgraded our room without us even asking, as well as let us check in early as we arrived on the clipper at 11am. Beautiful hotel, clean, comfy bed and nice sized king room with balcony. The room is spacious and the shower powerful and hot. The gym club attached to the hotel is probably my favorite part as you can go for free as part of your stay. There are a ton of machines, a huge pool, steam room, sauna (although it was getting maintenance while we were here) racquetball court and separate room that was offering a variety of classes. Definitely a delight to experience. Definitely will be coming back the next time we are in town.

Fantastic experience: Hotel Grand Pacific, Victoria, offers exceptional accommodations and service at a premiere location--convenient to Victoria's sights and transportation. I was completely impressed by the Hotel's staff and food offerings/presentation!! We had a Harbor View Suite to "die for." Each hotel meal we enjoyed was a culinary delight. The Front Desk staff, Room Service staff, restaurant servers and cleaning staff were exceptional!! I felt welcome and appreciated. The Hotel Concierge, Sasha, was a wealth of information and outstanding in her responsiveness. She, especially, made our 4-night stay an amazing experience. I cannot wait to go back to the Hotel Grand Pacific and magical Victoria, BC!!

Negative experience: Make sure you ask for a Harbour view with a window at check in. This hotels philosophy is to one give the good rooms to people who complain. Harbour view doesn’t necessarily mean a window and a balcony like the photo. If you pay the upgrade but make sure you complain if you don’t get a window.

Fantastic experience: Before I arrived the staff provided me with a complementary upgrade as I am travelling with my newborn. They also arranged to have a crib set up in the room so when we arrive, late in the evening, it will be there. Excellent customer service is so hard to come by these days. I will stay here in the future simply because of their excellent service. Highly recommend.

Positive experience: Our stay was just ♂️. We stayed in one of the upgraded junior king suites on the 7th floor. Nothing hugely bad happened. The list of small complaints is longer than the any hope towards the good. The staff is attentive, kind and helpful (with a side of 'get as much money for the hotel as possible'). The hotel smells of 'old' - like your grandmother's house, but not in the freshly baked cookies kind of way. The room was clean, though dated (70's dressed up to the 00's). The harbour view was meh. The pool was clean and disappointingly shallow (4.5' at it's deepest). The crowd had a geriatric stampede Jazzercise feel - which is what was happening while trying to relax. The location is perfect if you're up for a walk - as everything is on the opposite side of the harbour. Overall - it was a $130/night experience for far more $$$.

Fantastic experience: This is a very nice hotel. One of the best I have stayed in, in some time. Which is not to say the others were bad, this one just stands out over the rest. The location is good. The staff were friendly, the price was reasonable, and the room was very nice. We ate breakfast at the restaurant there and it was also good for a good price. We didn't have a car so I can't comment on parking. But this is a nice, very clean hotel.

Positive experience: Old decor, it could use an update. The iron in my room was broken and leaked water all over my clothes. The bathtub did not drain water properly when I used the shower, my feet were under about 6 inches of water. Great location, just expected a bit more out of the rooms for the price I paid.

Negative experience: Room air felt very dry. Me and my friend felt stuffed nose after sleep. we stayed for two nights. Not at all excited to come to hotel since the air quality felt really bad. No Proper Lighting in the room. We came to Victoria for a wedding. We had to use flash lights in front of mirrors to look at our suits. No microwave in the room. We used the gym which is really good.

Negative experience: Booked a room here on their website and the site crashed halfway through the booking process, so I reloaded the page and apparently forgot to reset the date so it defaulted back to the current date. We show up the following night to find out at the front desk our reservation had been for the previous night and they were now completely booked due to some marathon. They refused to give us any kind of refund or compensation, even though we never checked in, and were quite rude about it. I understand they held the room for us and thus weren't able to sell it to another customer, but they didn't have to clean it or do anything to turn it over. I understand they may not be under any legal obligation to compensate us, but as it was clearly a mistake, at least in part due to their website, it certainly seems like the right thing to do from a customer service standpoint. Regardless of the refund, it would have also been nice to be treated with some respect. I know they were busy, but really no excuse to be rude.

Fantastic experience: Elegant luxuries and spacious rooms! Under 2-minute walk to Victoria charming inner harbour and indeed grand hotel located across the street right side of majestic BC House of Legislative Assembly building! Courteous, smiling, welcoming staff both day and evening shifts! The atheltic club is fantastic and well equipped for bodybuilding pros! Lap swimming pool, whirlpool and sauna also top notch facilities! Yet affordable, competetive pricings with other top star hotels and inns nearby! Highly recommded to my friends and families!

Negative experience: My experience here was very very UNpleasant at this Hotel and I wish I had taken my business elsewhere, and I Hope that yours will be better! my First mistake was Believing the call-center when they promised that the room I am booking is Available in the morning time as per- me making double sure he Understood we are arriving Very Early!! Just FYI ALWAYS call front desk first to Check if that's even True!! because it caused us to wait in their Lobby for hours and hours when we could have planned for another hotel that would have given us access to our room at a favorable time! Now this wasn't even the saddest part .. it's the manager there who needs to take customer service school, that while we waited, he could not be more forthcoming on when the room will become available to us, and we are already upset about the whole situation and beyond tired. well no complimentary coffee while we waited at the very LEAST! and no discount for any off the trouble of ruining our stay! ...even something small to try to lift our tired spirits! Very Bad experience overall! will not book here again! Please Be Kind to paying customers who have been Lied to about room being available or try to find a way to improve their Stay even in a small way!

Fantastic experience: What else can be said about Victoria, BC and the Grand Pacific? A lot!! As my Clipper docked into the harbor, I could see my hotel a short walk away. Since I carry very little (think backpack) , I was able to stroll right over. As I entered the beautiful entrance, I immediately saw the curved architecture with the inviting bar to the left and the front desk to the right. It took only moments to ck in. I stayed in room 511 that had double doors into my suite. It was so spacious with 2 large windows and a balcony with views of the city scape (including the empress and govt building) & btw they are so kool lit up at night! Wow. I had enough room for 4 people to stay , but glad it was just me to feel like a queen in my own room! Thx to the grand for making me feel like royalty with an affordable price ! Give yourself a great place to stay and go here! I am sharing 2 pics from my holiday- one taken from my balcony.

Positive experience: Have you ever sat on a park bench? I have, and I'm sure many of you have to. They are hard and not comfortable. Unfortunately, the bed was that. They gave me a matress topper but didn't help. The answer when I asked staff was "that's how we purchase them". Now I have stayed here before and all was well. Would have given 5 stars.

Fantastic experience: You really can't get a more convenient place to stay if you've come in on the Coho ferry. Right across the street from the terminal. We had the best view of the Coho out our window! Room was clean, large and comfortable. Bed was really comfortable with fat squishy pillows. The tub was deep and hot and pure bliss after a long day walking the sights. Decor in the room is dated. Feels like it is a decade past when it needed a renovation. But the staff was very attentive and helpful. The ability to securely store your luggage upon arrival and after checkout is a huge plus! Absolutely would go back and recommend.

Positive experience: great location reasonably priced, gym and hot tub are packed though so don't expect to get into the hot tub. But, the rooms are nice with a balcony and the hotel is in the harbour. Its near everything (walking distance).

Fantastic experience: The Grand Pacific is a great hotel. We loved that there were plenty of tea bags , a hot pot and plenty of coffee pods in the room. Plus there were creamers in the mini fridge! The blackout curtains truly darkened the room.

Negative experience: First let me say that I have owned and operated 4 hotels in my life time in high end Muskoka & Haliburton Canada and the very competitive market Fort Lauderdale Florida. The customer is not always right but in this case I will let you decide. I was so taken aback at the lack of professionalism shown by many staff at this hotel I am compelled to comment. Check in was quick & efficient but the clerk must not have been fully trained as she gave me wrong directions to meet up with my group on the patio. I ended up waiting for my group in the wrong location for 20 minutes when the patio was on opposite side of where she sent me. Very odd. Through out my stay when navigating my way through the hotel to spa - pool - gym - patio etc I received incorrect directions from staff. When I asked the pool attendant "How do I get to Floor 8?" His answer was a flippant unhelpful "I have no idea!" Clearly poorly trained in customer service for an apparent 5 star hotel. We were a large group of mostly 60 & 70 year olds attending a wedding at the hotel on a weekend in August. The worst experience came when the manager of the outdoor patio threatened to "throw us out if we didn't stop moving chairs" - literally his words. When I joined my family of 8 at their large table I grabbed an empty chair from a table of 4 that had only 2 people eating at it (with their blessing). Well I was severely scolded for some unknown reason that was never explained. There were only 4 other tables (maybe 10 people) dining on the whole patio that evening so it wasn't as if we were upsetting other customers. We were well behaved and quiet (60 & 70 yr old's). Waiters continued to chastise us for making room for more family members to join us. No attempt was made to accommodate our group (who by the way were spending upward of $30,000.00). For some reason they said we could not eat at the patio tables (even though everyone else on the patio was). We were more than happy to eat on our laps but they gave us attitude about this too, until finally I think they realized how much revenue they would be missing out on because we all ordered entrees. We thought maybe they were worried about the propane tanks under the tables but these were turned off & we were careful not to move those. So again, their complete lack of decorum and customer service was incomprehensible! Seriously the manager threatened to kick a bunch of senior citizens out of the restaurant because we added chairs to our group - for which their was PLENTY of room to do. Martin & Kevin at the bar were exemplary & helpful. With so many beautiful hotels to choose from downtown I am surprised their staff were so poorly trained. The location is ideal but rooms tired. TV reception unacceptable - basically turns fuzzy every few minutes rendering it impossible to watch. The pool & steam/sauna were nice and the wedding was well executed - food was good. The manager has commented to my review saying he was surprised I did not contact him directly. Well surprising he does not read his own customer surveys that are sent to customers on their departure. The information above was all sent to him when I received his email. Whern I did not receive a response I felt it was appropriate to share this with the public.

Please accept my apologies for the directional issues with my colleague from the Athletic Club and the issues with the TV reception. We are endeavouring to make improvements in these areas. Regarding your group gathering on our restaurant patio, I received a full report on what transpired from both the Restaurant Manager and the Food and Beverage Manager. Fantastic experience: Truly a grand hotel a short walking distance to/from the FRS Clipper Ferry port, many tourist attractions to include being across the street from the Legislative Assembly of BC, and close to several great places to eat. Top notch customer service starting with Summer, at the front desk, who checked us in with a very friendly and helpful attitude. Clean, comfortable, and quiet rooms that provided a great night sleep. Overall great value!

Positive experience: Just be aware that if you own a standard pickup truck that you will be parking 2 blocks away on a gravel lot that has absolutely no security and is as sketchy as ever. They also still charge you full parking price of $20.00 per day for it. It's super sketchy ! If you have a nice vehicle don't park there. Park on the road for half the price behind the hotel where it's nice and you can walk right into the back of the building.
Dear R Grant, I am sorry that you had to park your truck in a nearby parking lot. Our underground parking lot has a clearance of 6’4” which is the standard height of most underground lots. Fantastic experience: Hotel Grand Pacific Facing Victoria's Inner Harbour and adjacent to the British Columbia Legislature, the Hotel Grand Pacific, recently voted World's Best, Top 500 places to stay by Travel + Leisure Magazine, is 2 blocks from Victoria's downtown restaurant and shopping scene, 2 blocks from the Victoria Conference Centre and 5 blocks from Fisherman's Wharf, a working harbour surrounded by an array of food kiosks, unique shops and ecotour adventures. Rooms are clean and quiet, all with balcony and amazing view. Staff are kind, friendly, helpful and knowledgeable.

Negative experience: Let me start with, we have been coming to Victoria for over 20 years, both of us for business and now for retirement enjoyment and family here. We would stay at the Grand so much that our youngest would call it his hotel, that was many many years ago….. our experience checking into today was probably one of the worst experiences I have ever had, not only at 430 PM our room was not available, as in, absolutely no signature grand suites were available at all but we had booked the room months ago for 3 nights and were excited to have a little getaway and get our youngest moved into University. The manager, Florin Gutsu, came to talk to us, and honestly, we own a business and we are extremely accommodating to customers, because at the end of the day, we make their day, this was not the case, he was literally insulting us with his arrogant attitude, I just have never experienced this ever by a hotel, and was truly so upsetting, but we had no choice but to stay…. clearly he is not meant for the job, having said all this, the front desk staff were very kind. If you want a customer service oriented hotel, the Magnolia or the Empress! Hands down!

Fantastic experience: Excellent location, restaurant and staff! The pool and fitness center is impressive. We were a 4 party group age ranges 3-75 staying in a one bedroom suite and everyone had a great time and the room was big enough with a beautiful view and two balconies. We will be back!

Positive experience: Great hotel to explore the city with a lovely restaurant and a great gym. However, the service was rather disappointing - We opted to forgo room service to support the hotel‘s environment initiative, but specifically asked to still get fresh towels and were assured that they would of course be delivered. Sadly, during the three nights of our stay, we never got any fresh towels and had to hunt down someone from room service in the corridor to get some towels, toilet paper, coffee, etc. When mentioning our disappointment about that at reception during check-out, the person at the front desk didn’t really care or apologize. A bit weak for a hotel of this caliber, so I wouldn’t necessarily recommend staying here if you value good service.
