Our comment from FitFit Canada about Edmonds Community Centre:
Edmonds Community Centre in Burnaby, Canada, is a vibrant hub for recreational activities, offering a variety of amenities including a swimming pool, gym, and outdoor park. Many users appreciate the friendly and accommodating staff who contribute to a welcoming atmosphere. The facility provides a range of activities such as pickleball, yoga, dance lessons, and fitness classes suitable for various age groups and interests. Visitors have praised the hot tub, sauna, and steam room facilities, highlighting the well-designed pool area that children especially enjoy.
Despite its many positives, some users have expressed concerns regarding cleanliness, particularly in the changing rooms and locker areas, which were noted as dirty during their visits. Additionally, there have been reports of unfriendly customer service experiences, especially at the front desk, which affect the overall impression of the facility. Also, during peak times, the gym and swimming facilities can become crowded, which may lead to longer wait times for equipment and classes.
Overall, Edmonds Community Centre is considered a valuable community resource with plenty of activities and friendly staff, although improvements in cleanliness and customer service would enhance the experience further.

Edmonds Community Centre: Opinions
Fantastic experience: Great place for pickleball, dance lessons, yoga. Friendly staff. Lots of activities
Negative experience: The old indian lady on the front desk is rude she should learn some manners. She should know that shes not at her home..talking to her kids
Fantastic experience: Love the hot tub at this pool. They got it right making one side the water level past your shoulders. I also like the gym equipment they chose.
Fantastic experience: This place is amazing I love the service I love the gym and I love activities they do.
Fantastic experience: The staff are easy to talk to, friendly, knowledgeable and have a smile on their face every single time you ask for assistance. A++ 5 stars, (unfortunately I can't give you 10 stars) The price is affordable. The facilities are modern, and very well kept, easily the best Hot tub/Sauna/Steam Room I've been to at a public pool. The slides are fun, and the river is relaxing. This place has it all. ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐
Negative experience: Not accommodating the homeless or low income or government assistance anything that they would use or have an interest in gets removed immediately without hesitation or without question unless you drive a Mercedes a BMW or carry some sort of fancy badminton racket or some high-end name brand Lululemon gym clothes this facility has nothing for you and they've made it quite obvious this is a public facility for upper-class respectable citizens it is not meant for all citizens because the ones in control have become dictators and they make the decisions now because it is their public facility emphasize their.
Fantastic experience: Always a nice place to relax where I go for a swim, hot tub, sauna ….
Positive experience: Lap pool is good, lazy pool is aight, slides are great, Sauna and steam rooms are great, hot tub is great. Fred Randall pool is great.
Fantastic experience: We are so grateful for Valencia my daughter’s swimming instructor at Edmond community Center ! Her patience and enthusiasm have made our daughter's swimming experience truly special. From the very first lesson, Valencia created a positive and encouraging environment that helped our daughter build confidence in the water. Her teaching style is engaging and effective, making each session fun while ensuring proper technique. We’ve seen such amazing progress, and our daughter looks forward to every lesson.
Fantastic experience: I remember when I was a kid I always hang out with my friends it’s fun to hang out with friends and they have different options such as basketball / soccer etc I highly recommend!
Negative experience: so they increased their fees again yet cannot afford to have air conditioning in the weight room. reminds me of gyms in Bangladesh
Fantastic experience: I really like to share how you service of community Center they’re nice and helpful.
Fantastic experience: First time coming here with my 5 year old daughter. We usually go to Killarney Pool, but heard this place was pretty good too. The lazy river here is much, much bigger than Killarney's. The water is heated which is nice. We came here on a Saturday at 5pm and it was so packed. There's was really no space to move around without getting splashed in the face everywhere you turn. Here everyone gets a wristband, children under 7 gets an orange one to let the life guards know these kids need adult supervision. Killarney doesn't require wrist bands. They just make sure an adult is within one arms length away from a child or toddler that doesn't seem to know how to swim. Facility was clean and I liked how there is a dry sauna and steam room. Killarney only had a steam room.
Negative experience: Won’t be returning out buisness will go to newwest rec centre now. Upon leaving questioned the front staff about people not wearing proper swim attire (cotton hoodie sweatshirt and pants) he was pretty rude and seemed offended saying Muslim religion is allowed to be fully clothed the people I saw today weren’t even Muslim I’m sorry sir but they make bathing suites that fully cover you. If that’s the case That is not hygienic I know for a fact newwest and other pools require proper swim atire for hygienic reasons.
Hi Ashley, we're sorry to hear that you've had such a negative experience with us and would like to learn more. Please contact the Complex Supervisor at 604-297-4838 at your convenience to discuss this further. Thank you!
Fantastic experience: I like the pool area changing room with shower with private door, I lock the door + it's nice and clean (I only come here for shower and water temperature was perfect not too hot or cold so it's perfect for me)
Negative experience: I went twice to the swimming pool and I got an infection. There are lots of people without any control. The water is dirty .Don't risk yourself.
Hi Lili, we're sorry to hear that you've had such a negative experience with us and would like to learn more. Please contact the Complex Supervisor at 604-297-4838 at your convenience to discuss this further. Thank you!
Fantastic experience: Nice place.Includes pool, gym and outdoor park. The park is most enjoyable in my opinion.Lots of events happen here so you should never say youre lucky that there was an event happening and you had fun.Overall incredible.Grade:A.
Negative experience: Bad place to swim. Bonsor is better. Too many kids, on Friday Aug 16 the lazy river (leisure pool aka. kid place) closed at 7pm ish cause someone puked in there. Waterslides closed cause water is connected. Then, at 8, leisure poll opened and hot tub closed. Sucks. Lifeguards = high school kids. Also saw red dirty underwear in water.
Fantastic experience: Very good the water is very hot
Fantastic experience: Pleasant and accommodating staff in particular shayma was terrific
Negative experience: I came here with high hopes as the facility looks good with a huge crowd coming daily. But the toilets are dirty stinky, cleaners don’t clean them regularly it seems,, and swimming pool is not managed properly by the staff. They are mostly way too young to have pleasant personalities and mannerisms. They are just doing their jobs. The most annoying part is that none of the staff is telling adults and kids wearing their underwears inside their swim trunks. This is gross and a perfect example of unhygienic swimming pool. So many Men are wearing high band underwear showing from their swim trunks and how come no one is saying anything to them? Who is doing the quality, cleanliness, hygiene and standard maintenance and supervision? They should be fired from their jobs immediately. So disappointing. Fine, don’t be pleasant, nice and smiling, but keep dirty undies out of the swimming pool, you ignorant staff!
Negative experience: Lockers are poorly maintained; keys are missing elastic bands on 5 lockers; swim lanes are not labeled and people randomly swim in my lane; front line staff are ok but not pleasant- one rep never said “thank you”- on manners. All reps should get surveys to improve service levels. A robot would be more pleasant.
Negative experience: The community center is bright and with well settings, several staffs are attentive. I come in once or twice a week and always wanted to voice out the issue of their toilet paper. It’s very economical and thin but difficult to pull out from the roll, as a result, lots of tiny pieces of toilet paper sit on the floor. In the recent visit, the first roll of toilet paper was out so I had to slide the slot of the dispenser to use the second roll, however, the slot bounced back and punched on my thumb. I reported the incident to the front counter and they called the first aid immediately to treat my injury, I would say it was a prompt response. At the time of writing this review, my wound is still bleeding.
Fantastic experience: Great facility, could work on the friendliness at the cafe though.
Fantastic experience: Staff is very helpful! I was visiting for a week and wanted to find a place to play pickleball! I got to play many times during the week and also got to use the weight room and fitness center too. Thanks to all the staff that made my experiences very enjoyable
Fantastic experience: Biggest community centre I’ve ever been to!
Negative experience: My family and I are absolutely outraged by the unsanitary conditions and dirt in the locker rooms at the Edmonton pool. I have never seen such dirt anywhere! The floor is so dirty with hair, debris and dirt that it is impossible to step on. The drains of the sinks and showers are completely clogged with hair, which gives the worst feeling about the sanitary condition of this establishment. after all, visitors bring everything that is on the floor with their shoes and feet into the hall and the pool. I ask the administration to take action immediately. If measures are not taken soon, I will personally contact the relevant authorities to ensure inspections of water quality and sanitary conditions, as well as all possible community groups for support. It is also unacceptable to use hair dryers to dry legs and other parts of the body. Please put up signs stating that people under the drying machine should be properly dressed in their underwear with their genitals covered, and not dry them under the machine in the middle of the corridor. This is still not a public bathhouse, but a sports center that children attend. It is also unacceptable in the girls' locker room for boys, please post a reminder to parents that there are family locker rooms for this, last time there was a boy of about seven years old in the locker room with us, which does not fit into any framework of decency. Sincerely your visitors
Negative experience: Disgusting! As Ghetto as it gets! The floor in the pool and bathroom look absolutely disgusting! We usually go to our close one West van! They were close for today and looked up pools with slides this came up! We all regreted as soon as we got there then after all my daughter was not even able to use the slide , they have this stupid rule where they have to be over 6 years old for some reason? Most places would only have restrictions by stature and not age seems very very silly to me . Never coming back of course to this Nasty place.
Fantastic experience: Edmonds Community Centre offers a well-rounded recreational experience. The facilities, including the gym and swimming pool, cater to diverse fitness preferences. The staff is friendly and helpful, creating a welcoming atmosphere. The range of programs and classes provides options for various interests and age groups. However, peak times can get crowded, affecting the availability of certain amenities. Overall, Edmonds Community Centre is a valuable community resource, offering a variety of activities and services for residents.
Fantastic experience: Samson helped me to find out how to Register for soccer in the community. He was absolutely polite and I really respect that and I would like to give him a five star ✅
Negative experience: Disgusted by people's lack of hygiene standards, impudent attitude, and cavalier etiquette. They don't shower before entering the pool, bringing sweat, urine, dirt, and body fluids to the water, not realizing their own skin absorbs all those chemicals quicker when dry. Maybe this is a feature of North American culture - if this was Europe the facility would immediately boot out anyone who doesn't shower. Good hygiene benefits everyone. Other gross stuff I've observed: shoes inside locker storage with clothes, walking around barefoot in locker room (risking athlete's foot fungal infection), drying genitalia with dryer, peeing inside pool, towels on floor...the list goes on. Educating and enforcing standards to users of facility is also the responsibility of the community centre. There are no signs to encourage good behaviour and no one to watch and remind. There are no instructions provided with your membership. The facility infrastructure is nice but is ruined by people's unsanitary habits. Edit: Beautiful message from City of New Westminster: https://youtu.be/al6kAy4e3IE
Negative experience: I've literally been trying to call them for days to connect with reception and ask a few questions but haven't been able to connect with anyone yet. It's like nobody is ever working the phones. All I get is an automated message saying they're experiencing higher than expected call volume. If that's the case then hire more people...
Hi JN, we're sorry to hear that you've been having issues connecting with our team. If you are still not able to connect by phone, please send your questions to [email protected] for a response. Thank you!
Fantastic experience: This pool is the best! Great river water warm and the staff are amazing. Lifeguards are exceptional. Something for everyone❤️
Positive experience: We were there for a shower only. Great bargain for a buck. Shower area was clean. I will say tho...should you be going there as a traveler, just for a shower? Request you be allowed into the pool showers. There water temp in the shower only area was lukewarm at best. I mentioned to staff and was told about requesting pool shower. Two separate boilers, apparently.
Positive experience: Extremely hard to find indoor and outdoor parking
Positive experience: Great facilities, used to go the pools a lot with my kids. But I have to say there have too many instances where patrons are lacking in physical and moral hygiene. I’d rather go to the Coquitlam side where it’s more family oriented.
Negative experience: Tonight I took my wife and children to swim. We used the family changing room, but why were almost all the family changing rooms occupied by single people? After swimming, my wife had to take the children and wait for those single adults to open the family changing room for us. The door was opened, but after entering, we found that the ground was full of garbage and melon seed peels. This was simply unacceptable. What’s even more unacceptable is that when I wanted to let staff know about this, there was an old white lady sitting in the staff area who looked like a supervisor. She didn’t want to talk to me at all, even never looked at my eyes, just placed the sign of queue aside in front of me, so I queued up to show the situation to the young staff at front desk, got understanding, begin to write the customer comments form. The old lady heard my voice and started to get a little bit nervous and kept asking her subordinates what I said. For such kind of person, I think she is not worthy of the position in the community center, because she has no empathy and don't wanna help people at all. I even don’t know whether she’s a racist or not. What I experienced today was so disappointing.
Hi Sen, we're so sorry to hear that you've had a bad experience! The centre supervisor would like to hear more about your concerns. Please contact them at [email protected] at your convenience. Thank you.
Fantastic experience: Edmonds Community Centre in Fred Randall Pool.
Fantastic experience: My friend and I have been playing pickleball since pre-Covid and have always enjoyed the friendly atmosphere at Edmonds Community Centre. We want to take this opportunity to thank all the hard working front counter staff especially Vandana, Andra and TJ and other staff members such as Jeremy, Noel and Brandon etc. Currently, pickleball sessions have been a challenge to get in and Vandana, Andra and TJ have been very positive and supportive in understanding the situation. Once again, we would like to thank all the staff at Edmonds Community Centre for providing all attendees a safe and fun environment.
Negative experience: In my own personal experience with this community centre. They have a bunch of hidden racist workers, that only target black men inside of the community that are causing no harm. Yet when there’s someone of other ethnicity conducting the exact same behaviour they turn a blind eye. We need to conduct an investigation against every single employee that is not a minority working under the community centre. Every single time I walk by the desk of workers at the front of the community centre they give me the dirtiest side eye making me not even want to enter the community centre at times. They even as of recently hired a security officer just to monitor the black folks that enter the community centre asides from the basketball players that fuel their entertainment. I call for the city to do a thorough investigation otherwise I will be conducting a lawsuit for racial profiling.
Hi Mayen, we take your comments seriously and would like to meet with you to gather more information. Please email us at [email protected] with your contact information and a manager will get in touch with you. Thank you.
Negative experience: My experience cannot get any worse. I’m a senior citizen and a regular visitor of the community center. This one guy specifically tonight’s aquatic center supervisor (curly hair), who though has always been rude, has today crossed all the limits in his rudeness. It is winter time and my family and I had to leave pool with wet hair on chilly night even when there was plenty of time remaining for us to use the change room dryer service all because that guy. We were literally pushed out from the pool as well as from change room before scheduled closing time. The management should take this seriously, as this attitude will get worse if not given attention.
Hi GM, we're sorry to hear that you've had such a negative experience with us and would like to learn more. Please contact the Complex Supervisor at 604-320-2211 at your convenience to discuss this further. Thank you!
Positive experience: This is a great community centre, but I wonder if the facility is too small for the area, especially at peak times. The gym can get really crowded and sometimes seems light there is not enough equipment to go around. Lots of people not showing good etiquette, with a lack of sharing. Too many people on the equipment doing nothing but using their phones as well. Gym change room is small, especially if more than 2 people need to use it Parking can be a hassle in the underground parking too. When not crowded, the facilities are great otherwise.
Fantastic experience: A good place for family, my baby loves the river.
Negative experience: I generally like the facility but a lot of the spaces are way too small for the population in particular the seam room, the sauna, and the gym. They also need to have more badminton times during weekday evening because it's almost impossible to get a spot. Furthermore, the front desk system is rediculous. There is a backed up line up during peak times creating a massive unessesary back log. The City of burnaby should implement the same system as the city of surrey where you just scan your pass leaving the workers to attend to more complicated matters like class registration and drop in people. The City of surrey has had this method for years. Additionally, there seems to be a lot of workers at the front desk that can't really seem to help you and this needs to be improved. Your staff are miserable to guests because they have to follow. IMPROVE THIS SYSTEM ITS INCREDIBLY WASTEFUL AND UNESSESSARY.
Hi Emily, we appreciate you taking the time to share this information. If you would like to discuss your concerns in more detail, please contact the Complex Supervisor at 604-320-2211. Thank you!
Negative experience: I recently started attending fitness classes at the Edmonds CC. The CC offers a good variety of classes to fit most age groups and personal needs/likes. The classes are good, fun, they start on time and the instructors are very good, nice and friendly. I was hoping to use their exercise room. That however has not been possible. The exercise room is small and jam packed with equipment which makes it more difficult to get around. Secondly, the facility is co-ed. Nothing wrong with that. Except that its users tend to be high school young males that sometimes work out in groups which translates into having to wait long periods of time to be able to use a particular piece of equipment. Some of us do not have a lot of time to go to exercise and the last thing we want to do is wait for a group of friends taking too long using a piece of equipment. The exercise room is definitely not mature people friendly. I also have to say it does not smell clean, not even when it is not busy, filled with people. It is disappointing not being able to use this facility which I am supposed to be able to do, because of the above reasons. It will be nice if management look into ways of improving this service since we pay for it. Last but not least and this is perhaps what bothers me the most and the reason for the rating. That reason is the POOR Customer service offered on a regular basis in this CC. With few exceptions, lots of their reception desk representatives are either rude or show very poor customer service skills while dealing with customers. Some look absolutely bored, uncaring. Others are plain rude. Few nights ago I went to renew my monthly pass and was greeted by "What do you want?". I was shocked. I had some questions to ask regarding the pass and a yearly membership. Again, I was asked in a exasperating tone: "What is it that you want?". I finally managed to ask 2 simple questions which were answered with absolute disdain and a sense of unnecessary urgency because they were not busy. The person was more interested in yelling to a kid that was leaving, not to bounce his basketball inside, than being courteous and helpful. I had honestly contemplated getting the annual membership since, despise the issues with the exercise room and the crazy busy at times parking lot, I have enjoyed the fitness classes and the fact that is conveniently close, I thought I would still go for the annual membership which, it is not cheap, let me tell you that. After that poor, rude customer service, I changed my mind. I know they probably won't mind/care about losing a customer, they have lots of them nonetheless. I also know chances are they won't read any of this which is too bad because that will only allowed or make more room for poor services towards the locals, visitors and the general public. And that is not right nor acceptable. I had used their services in the past. Some years have passed since. A new facility but same old issues. Too bad.
Hi M, thank you for your feedback! Your comments have been forwarded to the Program Coordinator and Office Supervisor for follow-up. If you would like to speak to one of our staff, please email us your contact information at [email protected].
Negative experience: Very frustrating experience this afternoon @ Edmonds Community Centre. Going into have a swim & in the locker room the 1st locker that i attempted to put the quarter in. It was full & the locker would not allow me to secure it for security for my belongings. I tried another locker & got the same result & another the same result, Lockers 1300,1313, & 1314 were full & would not accept any more quarters. When i explained to the male receptionist he wanted to give me more quarters. I told him that would not help the lockers don't accept the 1/4s. The third time i explained it to him he finally got it. He said come back with your card & we will credit the card. I brought my card back after making sure i didn't leave any thing behind. The female receptionist was helpful & credited my card. She offered to get someone to assist with the lockers. After trying 3 times I was spent & slight headache was coming on. The centre needs to make sure the lockers are emptied of the 1/4's. I was not willing to leave my belongings in a locker with the poss that they would be stolen. Some do leave belongings in the locker with no locker secured I am disappointed & frustrated that the cent4e is poorly managing their lockers. Hopefully this will wake their management up & correct this frustrating problem. I would have given a 0/5 but because the lady credited my card i gave 2/5. Be careful when you go to Edmonds Community Centre when using the lockers to secure your belongings.
Hi Earl, we're sorry to hear this happened! The security of your personal belongings is important to us. The team has developed a plan to prevent this from happening again and we thank you for bringing this to our attention. If you'd like to discuss this issue further, please contact centre supervisor Kim Clowes at 604-320-2211. Thank you!
Negative experience: Re: the fitness centre specifically. I really want to like this gym, it's convenient and the facility is generally nice. However, it has some issues. I'd strongly recommend the fitness centre management team re-evalute a few things. 1. The power lifting equipment should be removed. This is a public facility that is meant to be accessible to the community and the power lifting equipment takes up a massive amount of room and attracts only power lifters and high school students (who are often misusing the equipment in dangerous ways). 2. Etiquette needs to be reinforced, especially among the younger male attendees of the gym. Working out in clusters of 4 or 5 for long periods of time is not appropriate or respectful of the shared space. 3. There are so few women or seniors who use this facility - AKA the majority of our community - and I imagine it's because of how unpleasant an environment this space has become. It would really benefit the facility to reground in the intention of a public fitness space - something that supports the public. If people want a specialized power lifting gym experience, they should attend a dedicated facility. If you're not a male high school student or a power lifter, this gym has little to offer you, and is often profoundly crowded.
Fantastic experience: Excellent service, good pool, clean and spacious place. Though, hate it when people spray water onto the thermometer in the dry sauna: it smells like piss (from chlorine evaporation).
Negative experience: Line every day. Even if there’s not a line up u wait 5 minutes to scan membership card. If you have a member ship you should not have to wait. Steam / sauna always full of people. Even the swimming lessons are super unorganized and unprofessional.
Negative experience: Rating based on the preschool swim program. We took our 3 year old here for Preschool 3 and it was extremely disappointing. Did Pre 1/2 at Bonson and the kids had around 1/3 of the pool to learn in. At Edmonds they were confined to a tiny 10 x 10ft space. Our boy learned virtually nothing as there was so little space to move in. Will not be registering here for Pre 4. Otherwise the facility is nice but the swim class is a complete joke (no fault of the instructor who did as well as he could have given the confines).
Hi there, thank you for your feedback! We will pass it along to the supervisor for review.
Negative experience: Steer clear of the long-haired blonde woman at the front desk! Throughout our entire interaction she gave off attitude and wasn't capable of making eye contact. Please find a job that doesn't involve dealing with the general public - signed everyone.
Hi Sophie, we're sorry to hear that you've had a bad experience and we'd like to learn more about it. Please reach out to the facility at 604-297-4838 or Parks, Rec and Culture by phone at 604-294-7450 or by email at [email protected] so a supervisor can get in touch with you to address your concerns at your convenience. Thank you!
Negative experience: Front desk staff behaviour is extremely rude. I am so shocked by lack of professionalism and lack of respect at all levels. I found them even bit racist
Hi Ariane, we're sorry to hear that you've had a bad experience and we'd like to learn more about it. Please reach out to the facility at 604-297-4838 or Parks, Rec and Culture by phone at 604-294-7450 or by email at [email protected] so the centre supervisor can get in touch with you to address your concerns at your convenience. Thank you!
Fantastic experience: Great facility here. My young son asked me to take him swimming here this summer. I don't particularly like swimming, but I took him anyway. We had a good time going in the lazy river and jumping from the side of the pool into the deep end. Unfortunately, I had forgotten to take off my wedding ring. I never usually remove it. Lost the ring in the pool somewhere. I didn't even realize that it was missing until the following morning. I phoned the pool and explained what likely happened. I felt sick and worried that I would probably never see the thing again. Furthermore, the value to replace the Tiffany's platinum ring was excessive. They told me to call back often to see if it would turn up. That evening, my wife and I drove to the pool and enquired about the lost ring. To my surprise, I was reunited with it. I was absolutely stunned. Very happy. I don't know how the ring was found. I suspect it was picked up by some pool vacuum. Anyway, the staff are awesome!
Positive experience: I like this pool… but I think that the fact that the slides closes at 4 and maybe reopens at 7, I wish that the slides were open from the pool being open to closed!
Hi Matteo, thank you for your feedback! If convenient, please send your inquiry to [email protected] and we will get one of our staff to reach out to you.
Negative experience: The worst customer service ever me and my friend registered and the lady said you are registered but when we came to the court we registered the day we registered they said you are not registered and come an other day .
Negative experience: It’s bad because They have poor staff and do not allow the elderly to go to the swimming pool for exercise
Fantastic experience: The staff here are awesome, from the reception, to the gym, to the pool. All the facilities are well maintained. Perhaps some design flaws such as the sauna and changerooms being somewhat small. 90% of the time, everything is great. The other 10%, during busy times, it can be hard to find parking, and there may be a wait to use some equipment in the fitness centre, or limited swimming options due to lessons or lane swimming. The pool closes at 10 on weekdays, but at 9pm on the weekends.... far to early for me, Overall, 9/10, except for the staff, 10/10.
Negative experience: I have been going to Edmonds pool for 2 weeks now and I have to say the pool is nice as well as hot tub. I haven't been to steam room because of health reasons so can's say anything about that part. What I consider to be a problem are changing rooms and showers. Changing rooms are extremely dirty which is really not acceptable. Same thing in washrooms and showers. You can find hair on the floor everywhere... In the end, I always have fun when I go there, but would suggest to improve cleanliness of changing rooms and washrooms. Pool ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ Hot tub ⭐️⭐️⭐️ Changing rooms ⭐️ Washrooms and showers ⭐️
Hi Gordana, thank you for your feedback! We will pass this on to facility management for follow up.
Fantastic experience: Staff is very helpful, and professional ….,but always too many Rude Asian people and they are very difficult to deal with.
Positive experience: 4.5 stars. Different types of fitness classes & good schedule. Nice pool. I love the variety of participants - all adult ages, shapes/sizes, genders! Just a note for the weight room-staff & machines are great. Many participants, though, use multiple machines/equipment & are unwilling to share. (They claim ownership.) Also, it's a meat market around 330-5 pm. This sounds arrogant, but I'm saying it anyway. I've received a lot of unwanted male attention in that time frame. I've seen other women get approached, too. It's not enough to report to staff (what are they going to do unless it's an assault?) but, it is INCREDIBLY annoying. I stopped going in that time. Didn't give the last ½ star because there isn't yoga or spinning. However, this is expected due to the limited size of location (cf Bonsor).
Fantastic experience: Modern building, various equipment, nice staff. The pool and slides are attractive to kids. Sometimes the slides are not opened as scheduled so you have to wait. There are many great lessons, they’re very popular so you have to scramble for them. Generally a Great community centre.
Positive experience: We love the pool here. Kids used to have swim lessons here, but it is hard to get in because it is so popular and busy. The hot tub is very very hot, although the jets are not strong. They have a water slide that is open often on in the evenings. They have a lazy river connected to a smaller pool, and the water is nice and warm. Haven't really used any of the other facilities at Edmonds such as gym or weight room or dance/aerobics area. Generally there is not really a place for kids to "play". Unless specificaly family/public swim, the big pool is more for lanes and doing laps. I would say Edmonds pool is more for younger kids than for teens. The younger kids can go around the lazy river, and there is also a small baby kids slide.
Fantastic experience: Very nice place with swimming pool and other recreational facility for kids
Negative experience: I am appalled by the abysmal level of customer service I encountered during my visit to the Edmonds Community Center. The reception staff's behavior was shockingly rude and unprofessional, leaving me deeply disappointed. Upon entering the facility, I interacted with three women at the reception who seemed to have no regard for basic courtesy. They spoke to me as if I was invisible, displaying a complete lack of respect. Even my father, who accompanied me, was taken aback by their dismissive attitude. To make matters worse, when I sought assistance and asked questions, one staff member responded with unnecessary rudeness. Instead of providing helpful answers, she condescended to me, leaving me feeling flustered and disheartened. But that was not the end of it. During the process of having my picture taken for the center's pass, the person behind the camera had the audacity to make an uncalled-for comment. They remarked, "You look a lot serious in the picture." When I politely requested a retake, their response was dismissive, saying, "It's okay; we like to capture the true personality of people." This kind of behavior is absolutely unacceptable. The primary responsibility of the reception staff should be to assist visitors and create a welcoming environment, not to pass judgment on people's appearances or make derogatory comments. I expected better treatment from a community center. I sincerely hope that the management of the Edmonds Community Center takes this review seriously and initiates necessary actions to rectify the situation. The reception staff urgently needs training on basic customer service skills and proper communication. If they are unable to fulfill their roles or dislike interacting with people, they should reconsider their suitability for positions that require constant public interaction. As a paying visitor, I believe it is crucial to raise awareness about the appalling customer service I experienced. Future visitors should not have to endure such a negative encounter. It is my hope that improvements are made promptly, ensuring a respectful and welcoming environment for all.
Fantastic experience: Its a great family fun place with all kinds of courses, gym, swimming pool, cafe, kids rooms and much more! Too many things to do plus great huge park with gorgeous garden, cycling area, walking pathway, soccer field, tennis courts and outdoor hoops.
Fantastic experience: I'm reviewing the gym only. A variety of equipment in high abundance. Despite that, it can get really busy here. Plan to come at a less popular time or be prepared to work in sets with others. A very satisfying workout everytime I come.
Fantastic experience: Been taking classes here; it is a modern building with nice central location. Among other things they have a huge spacious gym, a pool area with slide, steam and sauna. Surrounded by lovely greener and plenty of food and shopping options, it is a cool community centre to visit.
Positive experience: All the stuff are good except one. Very Disappointed. Today, The black beard guy wearing supervisor T-shirt in the swimming pool approached me from the pool in an offensive way which is very disrespectful. His tone was offensive and Uncultured. After these behaviour, I just changed my dress and cancelled my yearly package membership right away. But the other supervisor is professional and gentle. He explained me about my kid safety issue politely. Requesting to the management to follow up with him, how to approach Or He can learn from other supervisor about approaching.
Negative experience: Music is too loud, chaotic, lifeguards aren't doing their jobs, swim lanes are a mess and they aren't doing a very good job keeping the decks or changerooms clean. Vancouver pools are far superior.
Negative experience: Pool is well designed and the staff are very friendly and helpful , but the change rooms are dirty. It’s also disrespectful to charge a fee (however small) to use the lockers that are part of the change room infrastructure, and for which an entrance fee was already paid. Some community centres now waive the locker fee.
Positive experience: Insanely dirty. The change rooms were so disgusting (do not forget your shower shoes) the amount of hair on the ground and up the walls was sickening. I’ve genuinely never felt dirtier post shower. The lazy river has a ring around it to the point I took my nail to it and it came off like algae. If you can get past that it’s a nice little pool with a really cute kids area and lazy river completely separate from the lanes. It’s a shame because they have an abundance of staff working.
Thank you for your feedback! We have passed this on to the management team for their awareness.
Positive experience: the supervisor needs to improve his communication skills and learn how to deal with members and customers.
Positive experience: A very large weight and cardio gym with a big ultramodern bike section that's kept up to date in tech. Smartphone friendly. Also a huge swimming pool and hot tub downstairs in the same building! Also, if you like, you can try your hand (pardon the pun) at badminton or basketball and one of their several large indoor courts.
Fantastic experience: Great community center for local. Lots of facilities and activities inside. The indoor swimming pool is huge, nice atmosphere of the building.
Negative experience: I love the steam room and the people but the staff can't give me 4 quarters for 4 people to use the lockers. I was told by one staff its the other staff who don't want or know how to count. Come on now why charge for quarters if u expect me to do 2 transactions to pay for my visit. Not only that when I plead with some staff they look down on me n talk rude. Why is this such a barrier to enjoy a workout n a dip
Fantastic experience: My son loves this pool!!! I highly recommend this pool especially if you have kids. Also very cheap and the staff is very helping and friendly.. we recently moved here from alberta and me and my son love to go swimming and this was one of the pools we tried here and we instantly loved it!!
Fantastic experience: Amazing place to spend with toddlers and the family time is such a nice facility from 7-9 pm
Fantastic experience: Excellent pool and gym. A lot of people after work, but still a place for you
Negative experience: Disgusting this pool is so poorly maintained. 2 chlorine rashes and my eyes burn from this pool. I'm surprised they are aloud to stay open. I saw clumps of hair and toilet paper floating in the water like a human soup of toilet water. Complained about this before and no one cleans anything. Big change from their covid times and I swam laps during that time. The pool is a great pool to swim at nice natural light if it was clean
Fantastic experience: Great local community centre in the Edmonds area. There is a really nice indoor playground perfect for rainy or cold days!
Fantastic experience: I really appreciate the staff (Shayma, Darcy, Arctica, Anjali, Jeremy...). They're organized, competent and so welcoming!
Negative experience: I wish there were 2 options in rating Edmonds: the gym and the pool. I haven't been to either since precovid, but when I went today (gym) I was disgusted. The staff were very nice though. While the equipment and the utility is beautiful and new, the people working out have no manners, don't sanitize their equipment, and hog more than one machine at a time. Just walking around the gym, I see guys taking up the bench and the stool simultaneously, and other dudes using the cables and dumbbells. He almost got into an altercation with a couple for refusing to swap turns. I'm never coming here again. Unless there may be a better time of the day. I can't rate the pool yet, but when I swim, I will change the review.
Negative experience: If you want to experience the longest wait of your life for gym equipment go here. People will commonly spend 45 mins on a squat rack and when asked to share they keep going. Love the entitlement from the community members using a PUBLIC gym.
Fantastic experience: Edmonds CC is a convenient location and I enjoy playing pickleball here. The staff at the gym, coffee bar and registration have been helpful and courteous to make a pleasant experience. Special thanks to (gym staff) Shayma, Artica, Jeremy, and Angeli (barista).
Fantastic experience: Great place to play pickleball on tuesdays. The best staff from check in counter, gym activities organizers and coffee shop barista Angelie. Special mention goes to Shayma who is most efficient, kind and caring. She takes care of all of us pickleball players and makes sure we all have a great experience.
Positive experience: Pool is fun for my toddler but I wish the floors were cleaned on a regular basis and by regular basis I mean 30 minute to 60 minute intervals. So must hair and gunk I didn't see anything being sanitized or cleaned in either of my two visits. Athletes foot for everyone! Parking is often hard to find underground. The accessibility button doesn’t always work to open the doors with a stroller. Lines up are often long. It would be nice to have a quicker process for members to scan their cards.
Negative experience: Never met anyone like Shelley from front desk. Worst customer service with her Arrogant attitude! I would fire her if I am the manger!
Negative experience: Yeah, 4 months pool been down now! 100% UNACCEPTABLE! Of course they don’t care is it’s government funded. If it was a private organization? Maybe a week. Who ever runs this place is TERRIBLE at their job!
Negative experience: Wonder why its called commuty center Specail when you use the gym They act like they ownthe place or they save the spot for there friend that is notat gym trainer sleeping on his disk little whiteboy Its called community know the meaning i pay to use the gym
Hi Ali, thank you for your feedback. Our centre supervisor would like to learn more about your concerns. Please email [email protected] with your contact information and we'll get in touch with you. Thank you.
Positive experience: Lots of parking underground. Great outdoor space next door. Pool designed for water fun (2 side by side slides) but only 3 lanes for swimming and often 2/3 taken by swim club. Some growing pains with staff. Closes too early for me.
Fantastic experience: Best community centre in Burnaby! The staff are extremely friendly and accommodating especially Shayma. She was polite, friendly and made sure our visit was the best it could be. Whenever my family and I come to Buraby we make sure to spend time at the facility. There is a range of activities from pickleball, gym, pools and the lazy river is fantastic!
Fantastic experience: State of the art exterior and interior. Gym looks dope. Pool has no diving board but that doesn't matter because the slides make up for it. Gymnasiums huge and cool. Overall 5/5 would go again
Fantastic experience: 1 Block from my house. This beautiful facility is a tribute to the Edmonds neighbourhood. Raj Chouhan, MLA and the Burnaby City COuncil deserve a lot of credit for opening this great facility. My family and I use the pool all the time. 1 caveat - MAke sure you pay the 25Cents for a locker. I have seen several personal belongings thrown on the floor. Many people take the risk of not locking up their things.
Fantastic experience: Wow! What a pool. The lazy river was awesome.
Fantastic experience: A very very well equipped community centre. All inclusive with an indoor pool, basketball courts, lounging area with affordable snacks, adequate parking with an EV charging area and a gym which closes at 10.30 pm
Positive experience: Overall great but the pool is out of service until further notice.
Negative experience: 2+ months for a pool, or ANYTHING to be fixed is ridiculous. If this was private owned and actually had to make $ to stay in business, a week tops! It’s the middle of June 2022, and it’s still down. Going over 2 months now? Come in already! Update. July 8! Pool closed MAY 21! Still down! And now they are shutting down Park July 4-20th. In the middle of the summer! Honestly. Who TF is running this place?! You have 9-10 other months to do that, and you choose the 2 months of summer break. Honest to God. Sept 15update, STILL DOWN! Come on now. Seriously!?! Ridiculous
Fantastic experience: Best pool ever! But it is CLOSED for the summer 2022, due to major ceiling repair work.
Fantastic experience: Nice place for swimming exercises, very clean, but we wish to check the visitor before entering the pool, I mean check the temperature of the visitor
Negative experience: Pool still closed. The management and city of Burnaby don’t help to reopen soonest. Families need the pool and Summer is around the corner. The staff simply said use other center. Gas price is skyrocketing and don’t want to drive further. City of Burnaby, please don’t turn blind on it. Burnaby residents really need to use pools.
