Hôtel Le Montagnais

Positive experience: Lors de mon arrivé a l'hôtel Montagnais, j'avais eu de la difficulté a trouvé ma chambre, La chambre était bien propre petit difficulté avec la douche/bain qui était fait pour handicapé alors le pommeaux de douche était trop bas. Mais durant ma nuit il a eu un pépin avec la charrue dehors et les moulures du plafond m'avais tombé dessus. Mais ça reste un magnifique hôtel soyez juste pas malchanceux comme moi

Negative experience: Don’t stay anywhere in Tower B. Rooms are nice but the Wifi doesn’t work at all. Dryer in the laundry room doesn’t work. That would have been nice to know before washing a week’s worth of clothes. Restaurant is expensive and just so so. Kids playing hockey in the hallways all day and night. Expensive, overpriced and hyped. I won’t be back.

Fantastic experience: Cet hôtel est un trouvaille ! Très chaleureux, le personnel est attentif, les chambres sont correctes et très propres, la localisation est parfaite. Ils ont aussi un restaurant magnifique (la meilleure crème brûlée au monde !) et j'insiste pour le personnel, qui est là pour aider et accommoder les demandes des clients toujours avec patience et un beau sourire.

Negative experience: Called reception 2 times to fix the air conditioning as it was not turning on. First i was told to wait 20 min they are restarting it...God knows what! Called an hour back as it was still cold. A technician came in with some screws...literally did nothing ...so at 12 am, we are still cold while the temperature set at 33 degrees! My son got cold overnight and left the hotel with a bad experience. Good part: Everything else was good!

Positive experience: The best location in town. Close to everything, walking distance to grocery store, mall... Don't like much, as it doesn't have complementary breakfast.

Positive experience: Upon arrival, all was great! The place looks nice and taken care of. The check-in was done quickly and efficiently. However, we received barely to no indication on how to navigate the place. We were assigned a room on the second floor of section B. It's an older building with renos done probably in the 90s, but well maintained. Once in the room, we realized that the AC was not functioning, so we called reception and explained to them the problem and that sleeping in this room is not tolerable in the middle of summer. With a little twist of arm, they assigned us a new room on the 3rd floor. The AC is functional but very buggy. I must say....the rooms are well isolated. Note to all: do not try the old vending machines near reception, they function half the time! Once the night arrived, we went to check out the bar. It was average... clean... and the drinks were decent. Oh yeah... and the little courtyard, including the mini park and swimming pool, was very clean. But, I expect a better equipped park for kids of all ages. On the second day, we decided to try out the swimming pool and Aquafun. Note to all: you must ask for a bracelet for all kids under approx 15yrs old. The pool was clean and well kept. The jaccuzis were somewhat clean.... but comfortable. There are flotties and floating boards available for the little ones. The Aquafun was smaller than the pictures show. But it was OK. Very basic. But be careful. The floors are extremely slippery. Overall, our stay was better than how it started. I would give this hotel a 3stars.

Negative experience: The only good thing about the hotel was that the beds were comfortable enough. But the layout of the hotel itself makes no sense, the room we were in (2 bed) was tiny (not accommodating of 4 people as advertised). The room had a constant smell that was similar to a locker room. The bathroom had a faint smell of porta potty (probably caused by the dried pee splatter behind the toilet). There were multiple of what one would assume are pubic hairs around the toilet and regular hair in the tub. The carpet had a lot of unknown stains. The pool and splash park were warm but also had a mildew smell. When we arrived for check in (4) the power was out and stayed out for over 4h, we had to make different accommodations on our first night because we are from a different time zone and our kids were exhausted but couldn’t sleep in the hot room. The hotel refused to offer us a discount saying no one else had to sleep elsewhere so why are we special. I wouldn’t recommend this hotel as it’s overall dirty, overpriced, breakfast is not included, & the staff un-helpful.

Fantastic experience: Location is right on Talbot Blvd which is great if you're walking around close to everything staff was friendly. Parking depending on where in the hotel you are can be iffy but other than that was an awesome time and free water area if you're staying there makes it even better!

Positive experience: Great hotel, Spacious and clean room plus nice bathroom. Confortable beds however pillows had a plasticy feel, like there was a layer of garbage bag in there. Interior pool and gym were nice although the sauna was closed and the mandatory pre-swimming shower was icy cold. Outside pool was not yet opened on this 30 degree celcius week. Parking and hotel location was just perfect and close to grocery, gas, pharmacy as well as a few fast restaurants. Great cleaning service and very polite overall staff. I enjoyed the place and would go back.

Fantastic experience: Having travelled for some 40 years, my references are abundant. This place is gold standard in hospitality. The rooms, the common areas, pool, etc are spotless in cleanliness. From the people at the front desk to the dining room and every one of staff are tuned to accommodate the quests. 5 stars. Well deserved.

Positive experience: Comfortable hotel in a good location for touring the area. Some good facilities in the room. Reception staff very friendly and helpful. Our server in the restaurant was excellent; very helpful and she had a lovely welcoming manner. However we stayed for three days and the housekeeping was very basic during this time e g bins not emptied, no extra toiletries provided, bathroom not cleaned. The price for each night was the same, so would expect the same level of cleaning each day.

Fantastic experience: if you looking for a good hotel well this is the good place + well located +accessible to wheelchair +ice machine +hot tub + pool for kids with slide + pool for adult too + pool table + restaurant with decent price +air conditioning working great (little bit lourd but ok ) the downside I will say is -the shower head are made for minions ... I'm 6 foot tall and I have the shower head in the neck -staff could be more frendly

Positive experience: Great place decent prices, love the mentholated steam room, jacuzzi pool. Only thing I didn't like and found really strange is that there are no blinds or curtains on the window to darken the room, just a super thin see through curtain and being so far north 4 am I was wide awake because the sun was up. I've never seen a hotel with no way to darken the room. Also, just one washer and one dryer for the entire hotel you have to reserve it. Restaurant is pricey but was good, all in all nice place to stay.

Fantastic experience: Nice, quiet and clean

Negative experience: Really wished there to be availability for our family. We needed a place for a few days while waiting on movers to bring our furniture to the house. Somekind of conference was in town so the only place to stay for my toddler to have anything to do was fully booked. Everyone was right at the front door smoking in my child's face. Just really sad we were stuck going to a crappier place after looking forward to this for 2 weeks. There was no way for us to plan ahead because it was such a big move and unpredictable changes would come up. I really wish that they could have at least a policy to keep rooms aside for families in need.

Fantastic experience: A venue in the center of it all with very comfortable rooms and activities for the whole family, from water play to a spa and finished with a world class restaurant. Whether you're here for work, play, family, or long overdue getaway, this is a great place to be. The excellent staff while not entirely bilingual are dedicated to making the effort to ensure your needs are met. If you're going to order room service, check out the restaurant menu beforehand, I couldn't find it online. Oh, and their Wifi is free, but for safety ensure you have a VPN. This is just a smart choice. Enjoy your stay.

Positive experience: First impressions walking through the doors of this hotel: Clean, more beautiful on the inside than the outside and the hotel seemed much larger than it seemed from the outside as well. Staff were polite. First impression of the room: Very clean and cozy. A lot of the lights in the room were set to be very dim, although, it wasn't annoying, but gave a more relaxing feel to the room. The hotel offered several amenities: Bar and Restaurant, Gym overlooking the pool, Pool, Hot Tub, Sauna, Spa. I was VERY surprised to see that the basement floor of the Hotel had a modern-style nightclub, with a DJ that comes in on the weekends. Pretty impressive! My only complaints were: When I decided to go to bed around 1130pm, I couldn't, because there were several young kids running around the hallway and screaming. I phoned reception and complained about the noise, it quieted down for about 10 minutes, then started again. I called a second time, they came back up to talk to the people, but then again, 10 minutes later the noise continued. I decided to give up and just try to filter out the sound with a pillow. In the morning, my group was trying to check-out, but the young Gentleman working at reception did not seem too experienced at was he was doing; a two-minute job turned into a 15 minute job. Overall, I had an alright experience at the hotel, but some things need to be fixed before I return for another night.

Negative experience: Once again I am woken up by the self-activating air conditioner in the middle of the night. Time is 3am now. The noise of activation when it's turned on and while it's on sounds like a turbine in a factory. The switch on the wall does nothing. I had to call reception to turn it off from central control. 2 nights in a roll it happened and I didn't even get an apology from the receptionist. I have never had a technician sent to my room in the earli AM to do repair. It's rediculous! And she talked without wearing the mask properly that I had to remind her to cover her mouth and nose. Absolutely nightmare!

Positive experience: The Room was damaged and unsanitary. The main reason my husband and I went to the reception to get another one was from the noise room next to ours. The reception lady in the night was very helpful. The bar is nice. But the bathroom next to the pool table should be cleaned more often.

Fantastic experience: We were given a room on the ground floor of Tower C with an exterior door to the parking lot - that makes it very easy to load and unload our belongings as we can park the car right in front of the room! Room looks refreshed and clean. They also provide microwave in the room upon request.

Positive experience: Normally my go to hotel. However they are now using a datavalet service that prohibits my Gov of Canada lap top from connecting. If I cannot work remotely while here, I will find another hotel where I can.

Negative experience: Edited to explain the stars given. We booked a trip to see whales in Tadoussac. Instead of showing in Tadoussac, we chose to stay in Saguenay because Hotel Le Montagnais had a spa package on their hotel website that I wanted to try. Turns out the Spa and the Hotel are completely disconnected and they don't "talk" to each other. The hotel helped me book the spa package as no one at the spa speaks English. We drove from Ottawa to Saguenay just to find that the spa wrote down the wrong day. The spa didn't compensate us, other than saying sorry. The hotel gave us a bottle of wine and was going to charge us for the vouchers we used (included in the spa package) for breakfast and dinner but they didn't, so at least we had a free dinner and breakfast. A front desk attendant was helpful and the check-out attendant was too. We could tell they felt bad for us. This wasn't the fault of the hotel. The spa deserves a negative star review. The hotel room was nice but the hallway smelled of rotting baby diapers for the entire 3 nights we were there. The elevator smelled worse, and I was in the hallway and elevators with customers who weren't wearing masks. I'm giving a 1 star because the bed was comfy, the sheets were soft, the room had no smell, the price was good, and the front desk had good customer service. These are bare basic standards in my opinion. I gave 1 more star because the hotel tried to compensate us by giving us a bottle of wine ($13 resale value at the LCBO), and have us the breakfast/dinner with no charge... for the spa's mistake.

Negative experience: Worst experience of our trip through Quebec and the Maritimes. Rude service at the restaurant, bathroom without accoutrements, small & slow elevators. Comfortable beds and a tasty complimentary breakfast.

Fantastic experience: We came here with our 17-month-old and had a great time. Even though the hotel was fully booked, neither the restaurant nor the pool were overcrowded or dirty. The Aquafun is a great choice to entertain the kids, they test the water frequently and the floor is not slippery.

Positive experience: Nice place. Rooms are comfortable and nice looking. No real views but expected since its in the city. Very close to fast food and has a nice restaurant. Pool for kids and 2 hot tubs. All indoor.. i believe they have an outdoor pool as well. Service is friendly. Laundry room is reasonable. 1 dollar for a tide pod and bounce sheet. 2 dollars per load and 2 dollars per run of the dryer.

Negative experience: I went to the Aquafun with my Boyfriend expecting to have a nice time... Unfortunately, there was floating brown spots in the spa and the pool had so much chlorine in it that my eyes were dry for hours after including the bodily fluids of every child in the pool making it a soapy yellow colour. The arcade had its mariokart machine that stole tokens and the hotel wouldn't pay back. I imagine the hotel in itself is fine but for the love of God, forget the Aquafun.

Positive experience: We stayed one night the front desk service was great. We stayed in a room with 2 queen beds, a bit small but acceptable since we only stayed one night. The tv was small, it needs a bigger tv. The bathroom needs to be updated, it was not well lit. They have a good swimming area for family and nice fitness room.

Negative experience: Negative: 1. The bathtub was blocked. Called someone to solve my problem. With a small screwdrive he said "ah it's just hair that is blocking the water. I can't do nothing and it's going to be like this". Great! 2. We checked in at 8:20pm. At 8:30 we were at the restaurant. They said they were complete, no more room por us (4 adults 3 kids). It would be easy to understand but the restaurant closes at 21h and there was a lot of tables available. 3. They don't have cradle or some kind of bed for kids/babies. So, if you have babies, bring your own bed. 4. I made my reservation at their website and paid 8$/adult for the breakfast. At the moment to have breakfast, they didn't let us in. They said I should have paid 6$/kid as well. I had to show my booking confirmation to proof everything was paid. 5. Not a clean and confortable room. It's a 2 star hotel room. Positive: Pool/games for kids

Fantastic experience: What an understanding team. The sudden death of close friend (who was also a relative) forced us to cancel our snowmobile club's attendance at this year's FCMQ Congress. Although only given 24 hours notice (instead of the requisite 48), manager Isabelle allowed us to cancel our two rooms (booked over three nights) without penalty on compassionate grounds. My wife and I will definitely be checking out Le Montagnais when we finally make it to the Chicoutimi area.

Fantastic experience: Great hotel in Saguenay for an overnight stay. Room was clean, spacious and had everything needed for a great stay. They offer government rates and it is in close proximity to everything you need nearby. Staff are very helpful.

Positive experience: Its a nice hotel, nice pool and sauna area. The bathrooms are spacious and clean. The restaurant is VERY good, you need to try the AAA steaks, super tender. Only annoyance I found is they are not technologically set up..... I had to write down my name, address etc, even though Expedia had it all. TV's are also quite small.
