Oak Ridges Community Centre & Pool

Fantastic experience: Very well maintained community center. I attend aqua fitness once a week , for only Dibbie's classes . I live in South of Richmond Hill and travel takes me about 30-35 minutes. But getting her classes is worth it.

Fantastic experience: My mom has been a member for a few months and frequently uses the facility and pool. The staff have been incredibly kind and attentive, particularly Brad, who was very helpful and showed great empathy when she was feeling down. She believes the pool attendants could benefit from better supervision, especially regarding appropriate attire and ensuring proper swimwear to maintain the safety and well-being of all members.

Negative experience: There was an adult men age around 35 in women’s changing room today around 1:35 pm. He entered from the pool and wondered around in the changing room and exited to the hallway. There were several girls and their moms in the room. I have to say this is crazy and offensive. I understand that the guy maybe transgender and identifies himself as a woman (but he has a quite manly look), but there is a universal change room available. And the guy didn’t go there to change clothes, he just walked through and looked around. Hope the pool will improve the management.

Positive experience: Play pickle ball here. The space behind the lines are very limited. One side is wall, the other side is a big curtain, Play with extreme caution, not to fall down. I join it as it is for beginner matching my skill.

Fantastic experience: Awesome clean pool and great facilities

Fantastic experience: Such a peaceful place. Clean and well kept external and internal amenities. Staff are so friendly as well. Decently priced fitness memberships and the gym has a great variety of machines and equipment. Note- Parking is expensive if you aren’t a resident of Richmond Hill ($4/hr) but there is street parking within a 10-15 minute walk. Just walking to the centre is so peaceful. Be sure to take a walk along the lake as well!

Fantastic experience: This is a great gym with a small community feel, everyone is friendly and Victor has been welcoming and helped me with my training since day 1. The selection of equipment is great. I especially enjoy the big bright windows that bring in the natural light.

Positive experience: This is my first time to visit this Community Centre , although I have passed by it over 100 times. A nicely designed community center, not very big but has 2 very nice indoor swimming pools. A big Gym, and some meeting rooms, a fitness center, A nice common area and outdoor sitting area , over looking the beautiful Lake Wilcox . This center belongs to the City of Richmond Hill. For residents of City of Richmond Hill , you better get a parking label from the city before you come to use the center and need to park the car at the parking lot.

Fantastic experience: This is an awesome community centre with lush surroundings and they have ample parking space. Parking is not free but every visit is worth it. I attended a party in one of their rooms and the view from the room was spectacular!!! It’s clean and the pool is fantastic too !!

Fantastic experience: I have been taking adult swimming lessons since fall 2023. The instructors are excellent. My first instructor was Xavier, he was very skilled and patient. I highly recommend this facility.

Negative experience: Parking is very expensive- if you are coming from outside of the city of Richmond hill, get ready to pay 4 dollars for each hour … WTH ‍♂️!!! But if you are from Richmond hill you have to fill a form with your driving license not pay parking I was invited for an event for this place on a Saturday… why would I pay 20 dollars for an evening in that place … ! The place is not that fancy or it is a crowded area to ask for that expensive parking amount

Fantastic experience: We had the pleasure of hosting another children birthday party. The space was very clean and beautiful. After the party we had the opportunity to visit Lake Wilcox which is located behind the centre. The neighbourhood is absolutely stunning.

Fantastic experience: Went here for a birthday party. Great spaces to rent out. Lots of facilities and it is located in such a beautiful area. Just to note, from April to September, you have to pay for parking, and there is someone verifying.

Negative experience: I paid online for the basketball Drop in between 6:30&8:00. But the court was locked because the ‘guy’ didn’t show up. I waited until 7:00, nothing happened. It is a really good basketball court. Too bad cannot play.

Fantastic experience: I love this place! It's well maintained and clean. The staff is polite and helpful. I attend the basketball activity in this community center on a weekly basis. Last week I tried the pool and it was also awesome! Very recommended.

Fantastic experience: It’s a very nice facility with state of the art equipment, pool, sports equipment and plenty of space for various programs for kids and adults of all ages. The one thing I wished was that there were lockers available that you can put your own lock instead of paying and it being one time use. (Sometimes you forget one thing and then you have to pay again…)

Fantastic experience: Very nice facilities and next to the pond. Waterpark is around there as well. On the smaller side but has a great swimming pool and a few gymnasiums. Ths family change room for the swimming pool is on the larger side as well compared to other community centers around the area. Still very well kept. Great community center for kids

Negative experience: Clean, but a mickey mouse operator compared to Angus Glen in Markham. No change tables in the change rooms, but they offer swimming classes for infants. You have to watch your kid swim from upstairs, as opposed to hearing then have fun

Fantastic experience: I visit this community centre for their swimming pool. Very clean and spacious. Whether you're into endurance training and want to go for a lane swim or just for leisure, their hours are pretty good...especially recently they have extended their leisure swim hours!

Fantastic experience: Pool is fantastic. The price, $3.75 per visit is very cheap, including sauna and water slide- what a deal! Gym is nice too, equipment is up-to-date and all in excellent working condition. Staff are excellent and alway greet me each visit. Great place to go an work out.

Positive experience: The community centre is very good. Spacious, new and clean. However I think the parking fee is too high @4.00/hr, 7 days a week. They should lower the parking fee by 50% CX a lot of families visit the centre and the lake especially on weekends.

Negative experience: I never post a review when I receive an unpleasant customer experience in the last 2 years, because I understand it's a challenging time for a lot of businesses. In this incident, I felt it's important to share so other parents know what to expect. I have been waiting over a month for my daughter to be enrolled into the Kinder Camp. As a busy working parent, we all know March break week can be a challenge. I enrolled on the 1st day of registration date at 7:01am, and I was placed 1st on the waitlist. Yesterday, a rep from this Ed Sackfield community centre left a voicemail around noon, letting me know a spot had become available, and I had to call back by 12:30 to get enrolled. I spent 10 minutes running around Costco trying to find a pen, so I could meet the deadline. At 12:10, left 2 vms, and on the 3rd attempt, I was able to connect with the same rep who had called me. She now advised me that there was a glitch and the spot is not available. Nothing they can do for me. Prior to yesterday, I have been proactive in finding a camp, and have been in regular communication with the Kinder Camp manager Jen Cockburn at Oakridges C.C. The way the staff and the management team from both community centres handled their mistake was extremely unprofessional. The perception that they left is they had enrolled another person after me, and advised it was a glitch. Whether this is true or not, that's the perception that they had imprinted. I understand things happen, however, when it's YOUR mistake, and you INCONVENIENCE your clients, you have to own up to it and FIX it. Both Jen and her staff said nothing they can do, it's the system. This is a lack of professionalism and they demonstrated their unwillingness to handle customer problem resolutions. I share this because I hope no other parents will have to deal with this similar situation.

Fantastic experience: This place is one of the best community centres there is! It's so new and clean! The staff make sure that every single person is satisfied, and with ease and speed. It's cheap, and a good use of money, since everything there is cheap, with a variety of activities! Plus, it's worth the money! 1h-1:30h just for $3-6 is a good use of money to work out/swim.

Fantastic experience: Great facility! The gym and pool is nice and the fitness center looks good too. Lots of people there after dinner time. The lineup can be quite slow.

Fantastic experience: This community center has a lot of facilities and is great for kids and adults. The staff is kind and very helpful. I have attended paid programs of swimming and badminton. There are limited amount of walk-in activities. Most are pre registrations. There are some family swim days which are walk-in.

Negative experience: Shame a community centre would discriminate against unvaccinated. It is a community service and to deny people based on personal medical decisions is highly unethical.
