Negative experience: Friendly staff and well round facility BUT things could have been better. Better Sanitation (Found one used bloody pad in the women change room and the staff came in and said “oh I thought it was way worse”). Then, she proceed to clean but make it like not a big deal for her. Sometimes, when we go in, the floor smells like urine (from the lobby to the pool). Staff could do better for cleaning up the facility and it would be a VERY GREAT PLACE.

Negative experience: Extremely poor experience at the YMCA pool the other day. Lifeguards are very undertrained or very lazy, was swimming laps for 30 minutes and 4 young girl lifeguards were working and consistently turned their back on the pool. We're not paying attention to other families and weak swimmers in the pool. More worried about their personal conversations that weren't related to work. Extremely unprofessional. Not sure where they did their lifeguard training but this would not be acceptable at any other pool or facility I have ever worked or swam at. Very disappointed.

Fantastic experience: Lynette allowed our 3 girls to have an evaluation the same day we called. Sarah was able to do the evaluation within half an hour and taylor at the front desk helped us enroll them and update their file. From the time we called at 1130am we had them evaluated and registered by 230pm. Thank you so much to the downtown ymca team for their excellent service and helping us out so quickly and professionally.

Fantastic experience: I go as often as I can. It's a great place. Lifeguards always ready to assist or answer questions. I love the Y and it's inexpensive which is great for a disabled senior

Negative experience: The drop in play care is okay, but there are a few lifeguards that are overbearing, paranoid, stuck up and rude. Two in particular that come to mind. One of them darker blonde with lots of moles works every Thursday evening. They gossip. It feels like high school level maturity. They should not be working at a family pool. They lack any human empathy or compassion for others. Not good role models in front of small children.

Negative experience: I have a membership, had a complaint about others in the pool, but managers don't even bother. Highly recommend not to go there, not good for your family.

Fantastic experience: We love our YMCA.. best playcare for my kidd, two minutes away from our home, friendly environment, equipments, pool, sauna etc. highly recommended as mom with small kid

Negative experience: Recommendation, if you’re going to have signs posted on your front door that the ymca is open and online it shows open till 3 o’clock today for your staff decides to close up early and leave people outside without a ride in the cold Makes me want to cancel my account. Lots of people walking away disappointed at the front door today. Update Just watched an elderly lady with a limp walk down the block only to find out u closed early.

Positive experience: I love supporting the YMCA but very frustrated dealing with member services. Spoke with Donna over the phone and in person but still wasn’t able to login to my account. After sending a email someone else got back to me saying they were able to login. Then after email sent I was able to access still not sure what happened but frustrating all to login to register for lessons.

Negative experience: God forbid your senior and trying take shower almost cracked my head open 3 times and they wouldn't let me and hubby take shower together thank you so very much !!!will

Fantastic experience: This has been our family gym for almost 20 years and we are so grateful for it! The classes, pool, cardio/weight areas have all been utilized by us over the years. The staff is always there to help and support....it is fun to be part of the camaraderie!

Fantastic experience: Staff is friendly. My wife and I love it, it meets our needs perfectly. Although the gym building and equipment is older and could benefit from updating, it's ok because it's very well maintained and the place is really clean compared to other gyms we've been to. Thanks to the staff there.

Positive experience: great customer service and the swim wear drier is pretty handy the only complaint i have is the hours they close 10pm is what time a gym and pool need to stay open till to keep customers happy people have to work then go to grocery store then work out and if we have time maybe swim or sauna other cities do not close at 9pm please change your hours back to what the other cities close at

Positive experience: Very awesome and convient gym. Prices are average- $50.40. Most gyms that I've been to, supply new users with a free week trial or a punch card. This place does not.

Fantastic experience: Friendly staff. I always feel welcome at the YMCA/YWCA fitness department is very knowledgable about all equipment. Swimming pool is always great, has a rope swing and diving board as well as a hot tub and sauna. 10/10 would recommend for a nice fun time or relaxing time or even a good workout

Negative experience: Canceled my membership after two weeks due to being pestered by staff that im struggling to either label as "fascist" or "prejudice" . both maybe? With just a pinch of "indifferent snobbiness"..

Negative experience: So it’s one thing to up your prices and not have the “pool drop in rate” but to charge the full rate 10.80 or whatever the hell and knowing full well the hot tub is not even available for the last 1 hour remaining on good fri is kinda rude, and pretty much next to scandalous taking advantage of your customers... especially when I read 5 free visits which nobody seemed to bring to my attention before purchasing an hour cramped with 20 other people in the sauna.... wow (yes I get I could have used the gym etc) I rarely do... the hot tub is why I go as it is helpful for strained back issues... but ya not impressed

Fantastic experience: For the price the YMCA is great. Have been using John Todd and Downtown locations for 2 years now and have become much healthier because of it.

Positive experience: This place is a nice place to go swimming and meet families and meet up with friends such as a birthday party or something but there is some things that would be nice if they are upgraded like the sinks the change rooms the showers the paint jobs and if they cleaned up the lockers otherwise it’s a wonderful place

Positive experience: It's pretty good here, lots of programs to choose from. It can be a little pricey, especially for drop ins. Gym is a little lacking in equipment at both locations in town, but facilities are nice and trainers friendly.

Negative experience: Almost $6 for the use of a shower? That is astounding, absolutely ridiculous really.

Negative experience: Dont join this gym if you want to burn fats. Your sweat will stop instantly..ITS TOO COLD inside! I have complained twice but they didnt do anything at all its always 18degrees inside. I ask some friends who goes here, surprisingly 2 of them already complained too.

Negative experience: Never mind that we were harassed for using the women's change room because there are no showers, no locking lockers and no bathroom in the family change room..... My child was DROWNING in the middle of the pool there today and NOT ONE lifeguard noticed him.... yelling for help while going under, ME waving them down, OR me jumping into the pool in my outside clothes to SAVE HIM. Another PARENT had to come to our aid, as he had also noticed that none of the lifeguards were doing their job. So besides being harassed after enrolling my child in swim lessons and NOT being notified that they were ill equipped for family's to attend, my kid literally almost drowned in a ONE POOL facility that had lifeguards walking around. He is still shaking because he was traumatized. I am SO glad that I walked back in when I did.... I feel like if he would have been left a moment longer that he would have needed resuscitation. So beyond scared to leave my child in the care of someone else again, as I have PTSD and this whole experience just left us feeling like we can't trust the lifeguards, who are literally payed to watch over and save people. They literally cannot notice the body language and sounds of a child drowning.... and told me after that they did NOT notice me jump in in my dress and save him. Didn't notice that another parent had to come to our aid. SO UNPROFFESIONAL. And then the "manager" I am left with contact information for is on holiday and will not be back to until August 7th. Again, so unprofessional. This place is insufficient in meeting families and children's needs. Underequipped. Lifeguard staff NOT trained well. And they have Only ONE pool to watch over. No one noticed. I'm still clearly pretty upset about this....phew! And just a reminder for anyone going there with the idea of being able to use the family change room, KNOW now ahead of time that they do not have showers or anything in there for families. This is something people should really be TOLD before paying to use this facility. You have to go to the poolside shower to wash your little ones, or go into one of the other change rooms that do have lockers and toilets and showers and risk being followed and harassed in there even tho NOONE had complained! This place is trashy, and beyond needing updates.

Positive experience: I've been apart of this gym for many years, I love the hotub jets, the best in the world in my opinion! The classes are usually good though some instructors are better than others. It does get crowded but I have always felt comfortable with the people who go. It does have things I wish were updated such as the change rooms and showers. Dumb idea to put new stalls in the woman's showers as it took a 6 possible shower spots down to 3 in a heartbeat. I hate that! One is so weak it might as well be 2 working showers. Also think the paint job in the pool is a foul shade of brown..looked better before. Like the new pool lights though. Despite these grievances though it's the only gym I've managed to stay committed to long term so 4 stars!

Fantastic experience: Friendly staff, kept clean and tidy, and has all the exercise equipment a person would need for a good workout. Not all equipment is new, but it all works as intended. Crowded in weight areas during peak hours, but this isn't different from any other gym. Not sure why there was a complaint about using plates/lifting heavy in one of the reviews. I've used plates on a barbell or trap bar upstairs when dead-lifting, for over a month. I've never heard a single complaint. Of course it makes an abrupt noise when I lower the weight to the ground - I don't slam/drop it like a jerk either. If a person can't set weights down reasonably, they shouldn't be lifting that heavy. Exercise classes, access to pool/sauna/hot-tub, and use of equipment all included in monthly fee. Friendly place where everyone is welcome. It's a great value.

Fantastic experience: Great classes and has everything you need! Would be better if more classes were offered outside of regular working hours though but the environment is nice, staff are very friendly and there is no ego at the gym. Lots of good equipment in good condition.
