Our trainers and clients LOVE the Anchor Point suspension trainers and resistance bands! They are the most-used pieces of equipment in our facility. The fabric is soft and comfortable, the handles are double wide and slide down so folks with decreased grip strength or hand pain can wrap the strap rather than grip and still train effectively. The versatility, durability and portability of APT bands and straps make them my MOST recommended pieces of equipment for at-home or at-the-lake workouts.

I encourage you to read the evidence on the Naboso site and to consider how this technology can benefit you and help you “reconnect to your foundation”.

Our main studio is 2362 sq. ft and includes two workout rooms, as well as ladies’ and men’s locker rooms that each have a shower. We also have additional space across the hall that includes another 420 sq. ft. of training space.

Athletic or comfortable clothing that allows complete freedom of movement and allows you to stay cool. Women will want a good support or athletic bra. For footwear, invest in a good pair of great-fitting athletic shoes or if your feet are healthy and it is comfortable for you, we encourage you to try barefoot training for general small group training.

Have a water bottle handy to sip on during and after your workout to replace the liquids you’ll lose due to perspiration. We have cups on hand, should you forget, and a filtered water cooler for refills. Keeping yourself well hydrated also helps reduce muscle aches.

We provide sweat towels, if you need to wipe your brow during your workout! We provide shower products, towels, hair products/tools and some toiletries, should you wish to shower and freshen up before you leave.

Absolutely not! Our programs are designed for your current fitness level. We will meet you where you’re at! For safety reasons, we encourage almost everyone to start with a Beginner session, but you may feel the first time feels too easy. Even then, you may still be sore from doing movements your body is unaccustomed to making.

While a bit of muscular discomfort or soreness is normal and okay to work through, we always, ALWAYS want to know if you are feeling it in your joints. Our workout sessions allow for a large degree of customization based on your particular needs, conditions and abilities.

Whatever time of day you choose to train, it’s wise to know your body. We suggest most people eat a pre-workout snack or meal 1-2 hours beforehand. Some people do fine on an empty stomach, so be sure to know what works best for you. We DON’T want you to have a blood sugar crash because you skipped breakfast or lunch.

After you train, your body will need to replenish and restore itself so be sure to eat a healthy snack, ideally with some protein, within one hour of completing your workout.

Fantastic experience: Focused on delivering to middle age to old people- trainers here are specifically qualified with FAI (functional aging Institute) certification which greatly enhance their capability to create & conduct programs for the older age group. Very homely quaint space with clients that feel as family along with the trainers. come in to feel the difference

Fantastic experience: Shelley and her team are true gems in Saskatoon! I have extreme confidence in their ability to provide safe and functional exercise to those wanting to age well. Their specialized training makes them the go-to place in Saskatoon for exercise classes and personal training for those over 45. People in the ProActive community cannot say enough about the level of expertise in the trainers and overall inclusivity of the classes.

Fantastic experience: I'm so happy to be a member at ProActive Fitness. This is not like any other gym in Saskatoon. It's targeted at people like me - over 50, wanting to stay healthy and active. The classes are small, the trainers are professional and very knowledgeable, and the exercises are doable but effective. Now there's even the option to participate from home via Zoom, or go to the gym in person. I highly recommend this gym.

Fantastic experience: This is an excellent gym for the "over 50 crowd". The trainers are extremely professional and knowledgeable in all aspects of fitness, function, food and fun!! Classes are small and available for all levels of fitness. Gym is very clean and covid conscious.

Fantastic experience: I had been looking for a good exercise place. My sisters always boasted of their yoga instructors and instructions but I just couldn’t seem to get into yoga full time. I heard about Proactive and that it included more mature people. I attended one free session and I was hooked. After signing up for three times a week program I told my sisters, “ I have found MY yoga!” The owner is constantly trying to improve and update the most optimum programs designed for older and not so old people and to provide enthusiastic, capable, fun, caring trainers. The atmosphere is one of acceptance, camaraderie and inclusion. It is a great place and I am so happy and lucky to have found it!

Fantastic experience: I met Shelley Turk over 5 years ago and started to train with her. When she started her own studio, I moved there with her; in fact, was one of her clients who helped paint walls in the new location! For me, Proactive Fitness has been a lifeline, through family loss, a knee replacement and now the pandemic. Not only am I stronger and more confident physically and mentally, I have had the blessing of making many new friends there. Shelley and her staff are remarkable in what they have done for functional-aging Saskatoon. I cannot say enough words of praise for the trainers who are knowledgeable, friendly and always, always so ready to provide advice and encouragement.

Fantastic experience: Proactive Fitness has been a life changer for myself and 5 friends from rural Saskatchewan. Shelley and her team were happy to accommodate our specific needs. They set us up with a session every 2 weeks, that we can then do from home. We have our own Facebook page for encouragement and questions. The team continues to assess our individual needs and help us meet our goals of health and strength. Fantastic experience: I have no hesitation about giving Shelley and her team at Proactive Fitness a very positive review. I joined the gym about a year and a half ago and have enjoyed working with all the trainers. They are very knowledgeable and able to adapt any of the exercises to the needs of their clients. -Knee, hip, back, shoulder issues - they can all be accommodated. The groups are small- 6- so we all receive attention and support. It is all about functional fitness and ageing well. When gyms shut down in March Shelly and her staff quickly made the shift to online training using zoom. We now have the option to participate in person at the gym or from our home on zoom. A great place!

Fantastic experience: I became a Proactive Fitness Member in February 2020 after participating in a 6 Week New Year’s Resolution Re-Boot Challenge. I enjoy the challenging workouts 3 times a week either in studio or via Zoom from the comfort of my own home. I like working with the talented trainers who offer just the right amount of motivation and encouragement to keeping you working hard. The functional movement of my shoulders and hips have improved significantly since I started and my core has never been stronger. Highly recommend giving Proactive Fitness a try!

Hands down ProACTIVE has the friendliest, and competent trainers. Their goal is to ensure you are doing your exercises correctly paying attention to any injuries or soreness you might have. Fantastic experience: I signed up for the 6 week challenge at Proactive Fitness and I enjoyed it very much. This place is a great fit for me. I wish I found this place a long time ago. I work out 3 x a week and the workout is different every time, I never get bored doing same workout. The classes are groups of up to 6 people and most of the classes are 30 minutes long. Shelley and her fitness trainers are awesome! High Five! You made the workout fun and challenging every time. I’ve noticed the difference after 3-4 weeks of working out. Recently, I bought a membership. I highly recommend this gym.

Fantastic experience: Shelley and the team at ProActive Fitness are great! The classes are small and the trainers are all wonderful, lots of fun and lots of motivation to do the best you can at whatever level you are at in your fitness journey. They really pay attention to the clients to make sure exercises are being done correctly. The Shape up for Summer challenge was full of information on healthy eating, great recipes and as always great classes!

Fantastic experience: I have been attending Proactive for over a year now and I just completed the New Year's Reboot challenge. I would recommend everyone attend one of the Proactive challenges they hold throughout the year. Focus is on exercise of course but I found the best oart was the nutrition aspect. Proactive staff are super - they are supportive, informative and encouraging. Actually everyone participating is supporting each other on their accomplishments. Not to mention you get a lot of recipes to help you along the way. The challenge used an app calked My Coach and it is a wonderful tool. You check in every day and it keeps you accountable, gives you tips and exercises. I thoroughly enjoyed this challenge and have a renewed energy to really watch what I eat. I attend classes 3 times a week but learning more on whole foods was so valuable. Thanks Proactive for getting me on the right track.
