Negative experience: I've been a member since Oct 2022. I keep hoping this gym will improve. Equipment is falling apart, is too close together, so I have bumped and banged myself many times while loading/unloading machines. Inadequate plumbing, toilets & showers are usually out of service, barely any hot water, and very low water pressure. Gold's Ghetto compared to all the other Gold's Gyms which are new, clean, and well maintained. It's hard to believe it's the same owner when you compare CH Gold's to Buffalo Run or Douglasdale. Country Hills gets a 2-Star rating, Douglasdale a 4-star, Buffalo Run a 5-star.

Negative experience: Worst gym in Calgary. Don’t even get me started. The change room was absolutely disgusting the floors were filthy, with broken tiles. The dry steam room was pitch black inside, extremely small, and uncomfortable overall. The sauna smelled like a cow farm, which honestly seems to be a common issue at multiple locations. Completely unacceptable. What made it even worse was the presence of cameras inside the change room. That felt extremely uncomfortable and inappropriate. It makes you wonder are we being watched? But when something actually happens and you ask to check the cameras, suddenly it’s “we don’t have access.” Then why are they even there? Take them down. This is a change room, not a nightclub The showers were terrible, with almost no water pressure, and the entire area felt neglected. For a gym that charges this much, there is absolutely no excuse. Cleanliness and maintenance should be top priority. I honestly felt like I was in a third world country and caught myself thinking, am I still in Calgary? And don’t even get me started on the cleaning supplies. That yellow cloth with a spray bottle is not effective at all. We’re in 2026 what happened to Lysol wipes? Basic hygiene seemed completely ignored. To top it off, the cleaning staff were zoned out, wearing headphones, listening to music, and clearly not paying attention to anything around them. Never again. All Gold’s Gyms are canceled for me. Do better.
Fantastic experience: Nicola was so helpful when I asked how I can advance with my training. She offered options such as a working with personal trainer, and being available to show me proper form on the machines. There was no pressure and her vibe was very easy going to feel comfortable enough to approach her with questions.

I just moved to Calgary and looking for a new gym so i called to visit the gym and try it before i discuss a membership, and at first I was welcomed. Minutes later, she called back saying I had to prove I live in Calgary or I wouldn’t even be allowed to enter and try the gym, That’s ridiculous and disrespectful. Terrible first impression and very poor management. Definitely not a welcoming place, happy i did not purchase a membership before asking to try

Negative experience: I’ve been a loyal Gold’s Gym member for over 10 years, and I can confidently say that Gold’s Gym Country Hills is the worst Gold’s Gym location in Calgary — by a wide margin. Every year, I'm charged an annual “maintenance fee” of roughly $50, supposedly for the upkeep and maintenance of gym equipment. At this location, that fee feels completely unjustified and borderline insulting. The equipment here is outdated, poorly maintained, and often partially broken or damaged. Many machines have missing parts, worn components, or obvious mechanical issues that make them uncomfortable or unsafe to use. When equipment does break, repairs take months, if they happen at all — and some machines are simply never fixed. Compared to other Gold’s Gym locations across Calgary, this facility feels neglected and forgotten. Other locations are cleaner, better equipped, and clearly maintained with pride. Country Hills, on the other hand, feels like a dumping ground for old or novelty equipment that no one wants to invest in. As a long-term member who has trained at multiple Gold’s locations, the difference is embarrassing. It genuinely feels like ownership does not care about this facility or the members who attend it. Whether it’s because of the clientele, the neighborhood, or simple indifference, the lack of investment is obvious. Paying the same membership and maintenance fees as other Gold’s Gym members across the city should come with the same standards — and this location falls far short. The issues don’t stop at the equipment. The front desk staff are consistently rude, disengaged, and unprofessional. Customer service is practically nonexistent. Staff members are often glued to their cell phones, rarely acknowledge members, and almost never greet you when you walk in. There have been countless times where staff make direct eye contact, then turn away as if you don’t exist. If you need assistance, don’t expect proactive help — you must initiate the conversation yourself, otherwise you’ll be ignored. It genuinely feels like the staff are only there to survive their 8-hour shift, not to support members or represent the Gold’s Gym brand in any positive way. After a decade of membership, this location has been nothing but a disappointment. Poor maintenance, broken equipment, rude staff, and a clear lack of care from management make this gym not worth the money. If you’re considering Gold’s Gym in Calgary, do yourself a favor and choose literally any other location — because Country Hills does not meet even the most basic expectations of a premium gym brand.

Fantastic experience: I want to give a massive shoutout to Narinder. He went above and beyond with helping me with a membership dispute. I've been with Gold's gym since 2020, and before that from 2016 to 2019. 8+ years of absolutely nothing but love for this gym. Recently, a dispute was about to leave a very impression and I was about to go from a gold's gym advocate to never coming here again. However, Narinder overheard my conversation with the staff regarding my issue and he gave me a call about an hour later saying... he's dealt with the issue and it will be resolved! That shows exceptional leadership and initiative. Kelly and Veronica, if you're reading this... this man is gold and deserves recognition. Thank you again Narinder.

Fantastic experience: I visit gold gym country hills at least 4 days a week and each day Gracie welcomes me with the warmest smile. She is always up for a chat making me feel seen instead of just another customer and does her best to make sure the rooms are well organised and we have what we need. Fantastic experience: Lithin and the blonde girl at the service desk go above and beyond every time to ensure I have excellent experience. Always friendly service and greetings upon entry, they routinely walk around to ensure weights are re-racked, inform me of any new addition or promotions as a platinum I can take advantage of. They are the true example of what excellence as gym staff, in contrast to other staff glued to their phones and seem to be annoyed when asked for a towel. There opportunity for additional learning and growth for those folks.

Fantastic experience: Customer service is very good. Gracie is always very kind and helpful. Every time I come in, I am greeted with a welcoming hello, and if I need help with anything, she’s always willing to help.
Negative experience: Worst gym for women half of the equipment is broken they don’t repair things quick enough only 2 treadmills to use. There is a ceiling light flickering since over 6 months they don’t fix. Only 1 pulley machine equipment to use good luck working out here you will have to wait quite some time to use equipment
Positive experience: Would have rated 4 and a half. Busy in evenings which is quite normal in every gym but due to large size and lot of machines you wont stand free. Half star deducted because the machines which have problem are not fixed for long time. Staff is nice and helpful. Nice and clean overall with clean washrooms.
Fantastic experience: Highly Recommend Virtual Coach, Claudia I’ve been working with virtual coach, Claudia, through the Gold’s Gym app, and I wanted to recognize the genuine effort she puts into supporting clients. She is consistent, responsive, and really tries to guide you in a way that feels practical and achievable. Even though the coaching is virtual, Claudia makes it feel personal. She checks in, encourages you, and gives advice that actually helps you stay on track. What I appreciate most is that she never pressures you—she motivates you in a positive and respectful way. If you’re looking for a knowledgeable, supportive, and easy-to-connect-with coach, virtual coach Claudia is someone I would recommend. She truly cares about the people she works with, and I’m sure she will continue to help many more clients in their fitness journey. Thank you, Claudia, and wishing you lots of success moving forward!
Negative experience: This place is an absolute nightmare. Coach Narinder misled us at every step, giving completely useless and harmful guidance. Their “customer service” is a joke, and to make matters worse, they stole $400 from my account without consent. Incompetent, disrespectful, and completely untrustworthy. I wouldn’t send my worst enemy here. Avoid at all costs—this is pure chaos disguised as a business.

Negative experience: An absolute eyesore of a gym. This place is honestly one of the worst gyms I’ve ever stepped into. The moment you walk in, it feels messy, unorganized, and completely neglected. The equipment is limited, old, and constantly taken because the gym is packed with way too many people for such a small space. It’s dirty, uncomfortable, and gives off zero motivation to train. This gym is a total waste of time I strongly recommend avoiding it.

I spent most of my visit waiting around because everything was taken. The gym looks poorly maintained and the environment is just uncomfortable. Negative experience: ⭐ 1/5 – Worst Experience Very worst experience with this gym. I had a payment issue and tried multiple times to resolve it, but they never listened. Instead of helping, they sent my account to collections, which caused unnecessary stress. The collection lady at the Northgate location was extremely rude and dismissive, making the situation even more frustrating. To make it worse, the gym is poorly maintained — equipment and washrooms are rarely cleaned. In my opinion, the whole experience felt unfair and very unprofessional. I would strongly suggest choosing other gyms like Planet Fitness, GoodLife Fitness, or Anytime Fitness, where customer service and cleanliness are taken seriously.

Negative experience: Stopped in here to ask about memberships, when I walked in the 3 people at the front desk all just stared at me, no hello, no smile, nothing. Once someone acknowledged me, I was directed to sit, the “sales” guy came over, showed me a paper with prices and said “so what do you think?”. A tour was offered after I said “this is an awful experience” They expect you to purchase a membership without a tour or anything. Skip this place, GoodLife was a much more pleasant and welcoming gym.
Negative experience: Really Poor experience here. About a year ago my credit card was stolen so I went into the gym to give them new payment information. I ultimately decided to cancel my Membership and was told it’s done from the staff there. A year later I’m in collections for 600$ because the staff member did not cancel it properly. My credit has been impacted due to their staff’s incompetence and they have been extremely unhelpful and unresponsive. It should have known this place was a huge red flag when the first option you get when phoning them is collections disputing. Currently going through the process to get it removed but save yourself the trouble a pick a different gym. PS, everyone saying the gym has gone downhill is correct the place is in serous disrepair which is sad it used to be really nice.

Negative experience: This gym use to be my favourite gym to go to! However, in the last few months it’s gone completely downhill. The only thing that works is the coffee machine. The showers / sauna / steam room are not taken care of…out of the 8 showers, 1 has a working faucet, the rest are taped off or broken in some way! The sauna has been out of order for the last 3-4 months. Overall the showers and changing rooms are not well maintained, which is unhygienic and defeats the purpose of having them. For the price you’re paying it is not worth it! You might as well go elsewhere!

Negative experience: Caution: Billing Issues with ABC Fitness Solutions Be aware that this gym uses ABC Fitness Solutions for payments, and their billing practices are concerning. If you sign up for a 2-year membership, ensure you disable auto-renewal in advance, or you may be charged unexpected fees after your term ends. I also experienced duplicate charges, and resolving payment issues is extremely difficult. The gym staff cannot assist — all issues must go through ABC Fitness, whose support is hard to reach and unresponsive.

Negative experience: Extremely disappointed with the customer service at Gold’s Gym Country Hills. I reported a lost gym bag with some important stuff to the front desk weeks ago and was told the issue would be taken care of. I also emailed their support and never got a reply like they don't really care. Unprofessional and irresponsible – they show no willingness to assist members.
Negative experience: I was a Platinum member and even referred three others to this gym. Since March 2025, the pool — a key feature — was removed without notice or compensation. Their only response was to offer a downgrade or cancellation with no refund. Extremely poor service and no accountability. Loyal members deserve better. The only thing they care are new sign ups !
