Fantastic experience: Took a reformer Pilates class with Kelly and I honestly didn’t expect to find a place like this in Newmarket. The environment is immaculate, super clean, calm, and beautifully designed. You can tell they care about every detail, from the lighting to the scent in the air. Kelly is an incredible instructor: knowledgeable, motivating, and her cues are on point. It’s the kind of class that challenges you without overwhelming you, you leave sore in all the right places, in the best way. The staff are also lovely, warm, professional, and genuinely welcoming. It feels more like a boutique experience than anything you’d expect to find this far out of the city. Bonus: there’s actually easy parking. Yes, real parking. No meters, no drama. 10/10 would recommend. Still kinda can’t believe this place exists here.

Fantastic experience: My girlfriend absolutely loves Function! She’s been going for years and sometimes hits multiple classes a day. They have Yoga, Spin, Reformer, HIIT, and so much more. She’s always raving about how welcoming and empowering the all-women environment is. She also loves the instructors because they are super knowledgeable, motivating, and they actually make working out fun. Highly recommend to any woman looking for a supportive community and amazing workouts!

Negative experience: I wouldn’t recommend this gym. The music is SO loud that I had to wear ear plugs every single class. My Apple Watch was sending me notifications each time that the noise level would cause permanent ear damage... When I asked the front desk if they could adjust the volume their only solution is earplugs. The gym is very overpriced and more often than not you are waitlisted for classes because there are only a certain # of spots. When I finally decided to cancel, the person at the front desk didn’t even ask me why I was cancelling. Instead they just promptly told me the steps on how I could do so! Often in classes trainers just stand at the front of the class and bark orders instead of showing you what to do or walking around to help or correct form. I am really disappointed and I completely wasted my money on this gym. I will say the spin classes with the owner were great so I will miss that. But only IF I could get into a class and not be waitlisted…

Fantastic experience: I’m really glad I gave this gym a try. The studio is gorgeous and the atmosphere is very welcoming. There’s a big sense of community here. The instructors, staff and patrons are all great. There’s a huge variety of group fitness options depending on what you’re looking for. Considering the amount of options you have, the membership cost is very reasonable. This gym will ensure you have a well rounded fitness routine.

Fantastic experience: Absolutely obsessed with Functions Studio! I make it a priority to schedule in reformer 1/week as I find it the perfect balance of fun and challenging. I've been taking Sami's class now for almost 2 years and she so amazing at what she does! Her classes are so well balanced with stability, strength, & flexibility as well as how great she is at teaching each movement! One of my favourite things about taking Sami's class is whenever I see someone new - I love how she takes the time to learn their name, their fitness background, and also offer so much support and guidance as reformer can be intimidating. She makes group fitness feel personable and not as if you are just one of many. Last the the facility is absolutely beautiful and has such a cozy and warm aesthetic vibe - It makes fitness feel luxurious! Love love functions and even tho I live 30 minutes away now, I still always come 1/week.

Plenty of instructors (Andrea is great!) and many time slots to suit your schedule. Very happy and will be here for many years to come!

Fantastic experience: This is the best studio. Not just in this area, I’ve never found a place like this one in Toronto. The workouts are engaging, challenging and you can really see results. The staff is amazing, helpful and the instructors knowledgeable. It never gets boring. I’ve never been this consistent my whole life and it’s been almost a year that I hit the gym 4-5X a week. I was postpartum when I started and I felt so intimidated when I saw the other women there. So strong! But it was exactly what I needed to change the route and start getting in shape again. Plus, I can finally do push ups lol

Fantastic experience: The best fitness studio I have been too! I absolutely love Kim’s reformer class, shes an amazing teacher and I enjoy how she incorporates yoga moves and stretches. Its a very clean and respectful studio, which I appreciate. This might be weird but I also LOVE the cold towel they offer after every class, its such a bonus.

Negative experience: I am beyond disappointed with the way this Pilates studio handles its business. I had to cancel a class the night before due to an urgent work matter, due to their cancellation policy they only could gave me a “make-up” class, but only allowed me 6 days to use it—within which there was no availability that worked for me! When I called to explain the situation, the owner and management were incredibly rude, dismissive, and even had the audacity to hang up on me! I understand that policies are in place for a reason, but this studio clearly lacks any form of customer service and flexibility for real-life situations. I will not be returning and would not recommend this place to anyone who expects to be treated with basic respect and courtesy.

Fantastic experience: 5 stars all around! The variety in classes is amazing. It gives you the opportunity to explore different areas of fitness and makes for a good challenge. I love their positive attitude, cleanliness and skills. I heard about this studio through a friend and I'm so happy I found them. Would highly recommend giving them a try, you will be hooked! I've since referred 3 of my friends to join.

Fantastic experience: Attended my first Beginner Reformer class with Kelly. I am a complete newbie to the reformer, trying to get back in shape after having my son. All I can say is WOW! Kelly was so welcoming, present and attentive to me and the class as a whole. The workout really kicked my butt, but it was so fun and totally worth it! Kelly did a great job of keeping the class motivated and focused. Absolutely loved it and I will be going back for more!

Fantastic experience: Highly recommend checking this place out for reformer Pilates. This quality of the class matches what you would find in a downtown studio. It’s a full hour of challenging moves, but instructors will give modifications so that everyone is able to participate. I've tried other Pilates places in Newmarket that are part of a chain and they were very disappointing, so I was very excited to find Functions. Reformer classes are pricey no matter where you go, but I can honestly say they are worth the price here. Also, they put on great sales throughout the year for packages of classes (reformer and other classes), so I always stock up. All of the instructors are amazing and have their own style, so I would recommend trying each of them to see which works best for you. Overall, highly recommend. They win in my books for: transparent pricing on website, super friendly staff, clean equipment and studio, wide variety of classes offered, high quality of classes, great instructors

Positive experience: Tidy-up and clean place to chill up or have fun. Calm and friendly staffs. just go and enjoy your time. The prices can be cheaper but that's fine.

The best reformer Pilates classes I’ve ever taken (for my TO lagree girlies I prefer this studio and these workouts- that’s saying a lot)! Sami and Kelly’s classes are top tier, after my first week of classes I quickly realized I would be regular!

The system for booking classes online is also super convenient. I particularly enjoy Saturday morning Pilates with Kelly — I leave sore but feeling so good with my body every time.

Fantastic experience: The absolute best gym and community! This gym has amazing classes and state-of-the-art equipment. They have something for everyone; intense kickboxing classes, Pilates, Reformer, spin, Barre, yoga, row, heavy lifting, Zumba, active aging classes and amazing floor equipment. The women who work here are so warm and encouraging. The studio is very clean and bright. All COVID-19 protocols are followed and it feels very safe. Highly recommended!

Fantastic experience: Function Studios is one of my new favourite places to be! I ended my membership after 10 years at the gym because of the closures and unpredictability. I tried working out from home but couldn't stay motivated. I tried working with a PT from home, and although it helped me a little bit, it still wasn't doing it for me. I gave Function Studios a try and I am so so so happy. I feel motivated and strong, and it is so good to be back in a gym and the environment is even better than before.

Fantastic experience: Function Studios is the best! I've tried out many gyms before, and I would recommend Function over and over again. The class workouts are challenging, there are lots to choose from and the instructors are always kind, welcoming, helpful and SO incredible at what they do!!! They are sure to offer workout modifications when you need them, but are always motivating and pushing you to try your hardest. Plus, the gym floors is open for when you want to do a solo workout. I love this place and 10/10 recommend.

Negative experience: It was brought to my attention of Function studio (the store owner and manager) providing the worst customer service. They were very unprofessional, ignorant and extremely rude. I was going to join their gym, but I cannot in good conscious be a member of their gym knowing how they treat people. Yelling at and hanging up on a customer who was simply making inquiries about her account is unacceptable. They made no effort in hearing out the young lady or attempting to work with her to resolve the issue. The young lady is the most polite, humble and caring person you will ever meet. Extremely disappointing. Never ever going to this gym.

Fantastic experience: Iam visiting toronto & I found this gym on google unintentionally, so I went there to try it. Everything was beyond great, including the management, the facilities, and the trainers. All of the people working there are very helpful and friendly, it has a great atmoshphere. The classes the trainers give were amazing! Would definitely recommend this gym to anyone staying near newmarket
