Fantastic experience: Great gym! the technogym equipment is awesome, and the staff here are all super kind and respectful. Mike is honestly one of the best trainers out there, always motivating and really knows his stuff. STAX, which works from inside FC, has some of the best practitioners, Mark and Ilan have provided me with amazing physio and chiro care to keep me in top shape. Shoutout to Iesna for always bringing positive energy at the front door and making the best smoothies in Richmond Hill! Highly recommend this place.

Negative experience: The gym really could consider a BIG refurb to get along with today’s modern fitness communities. Pricing is ridiculous and does not reflect anything except for location and cheery reception. Otherwise, bleak environment, suboptimal machines, dead spaces and positioning. The gym carries and practices old school services that are useless and don’t work long term. There is so much potential with its location, space, and people.

Months ago, while I was out of the country dealing with a dying family member as their power of attorney, I was in absolute distress when I called to address my account. An employee swore my issue was handled, giving me a fleeting moment of relief in one of the darkest times of my life. Now, I’m slapped with a $600 balance, including a $150 past-due charge, and they have the audacity to claim there’s no record of my conversation. They even tried to coerce me into paying $150 to “waive” the $600, holding me hostage with threats of chasing the full amount. This is beyond a mistake—it’s a disgusting failure by their staff to document critical interactions, leaving me to suffer for their negligence. When I explained my situation—grieving, abroad, and overwhelmed—the front desk had the nerve to demand “receipts” of my call, showing zero compassion for my loss or the chaos I was enduring. I can’t recall the exact employee or date because I was drowning in grief, but I know that call happened, and their failure to cancel my membership as promised is unforgivable. Fitness Connection’s complete lack of empathy for a human life lost is sickening, and their predatory billing practices are a nightmare. Other Google reviews echo this—shady billing, untrained staff, and a pattern of employee misconduct that screams incompetence or outright scams. I’ve tried resolving this with calm calls, but their refusal to take accountability is infuriating and cruel. I’m begging everyone: RUN FAR AWAY from Fitness Connection Richmond Hill. Negative experience: Background context: my partner and I had signed a one year contract at Richmond Hill Fitness Connection one year ago this month. Meaning our contract will end September 30. Upon negotiations last year, we were able to secure a great deal and it came with many perks. 2 in-body scans, 1 month free of their FAST classes and 5x 30 day GWO (guest workout). It was a great negotiation experience I had with the employee who is no longer working at Fitness Connection. Current context: For the past 11 months, my partner and I had separately brought friends to experience this gym at their own free will for 30 days. I have 3 remaining 30 day GWO and my partner has 2 remaining 30 day GWO. Early September, we brought another friend to take a GWO in order to take advantage of our last month at the gym and to take advantage of the perks we signed a year ago. Upon us asking the front desk staff to check our file and enroll our friend, they said they will bring their sales manager, Dave. Dave came out and asked “what was the problem” to which my partner started explaining that we want to give one of our 30 day GWO to our friend. To which Dave replied “your friend can definitely workout today and check out the facility” I jumped in and mentioned “it’s not just for today, it’s a 30day pass - you can read our file to see that we still have some remaining” At this point, Dave’s demeanour changed and it was evident he made his decision. He continued to reiterate “we don’t do that anymore and your friend can only workout for the day”. I started to get stressed as this point knowing that my membership with the agreed upon perks were not being accepted and they were being actively declined with more than 3 weeks remaining in my contract. The outcomes: For the past 2.5 weeks , I have been to the gym 2-3 times. A massive reduction of my regular routine because every time I go, Dave makes it a point to stand at the front desk or to roam the gym. An intimidation tactic that is disgustingly inappropriate. All for what? Because the sales department did not want to respect our agreement of negotiations. What they are losing: The 3 prospects (myself, my partner, our friend) who were going to either renew or sign a new deal have most likely gone out the window due to this stubborn position. All because Dave did not want to honour what was remaining in each agreement considering the previous redemptions of the 30 day GWO passes with no issue. Keep in mind - this was going to be our last friend we bring since our last day in each of our memberships is September 30. It was only going to be 3 weeks - 23 days GWO. Keep in mind, my partner and I were already planning to renew and were expecting a change to any new contracts or agreements we would make as last year’s deal was very rare. We did not expect to use our perks beyond September 30th but we did expect the club to honour the deal until September 30th. The management a year ago, was great, you can tell the front desk staff and clients enjoyed the Fitness Connection experience. 6 months ago something changed and the turnaround for front desk staff has gone way too fast - which is uncommon. But if their responding manager is someone like Dave, who is intimidating and wants to assert himself, I understand why the staff also chose to leave. To the representative who will reply asking me to reach out to FC. I ask that you reach out to me. Trust me, Dave has made it clear he now knows who we are and probably flagged our accounts.

The membership contract constitutes the entirety of the agreement between Fitness Connection and its members, specifying that no verbal promises or side representations alter the terms. The “perks” mentioned in your review — complimentary 30-day memberships valued at $109 each — were never part of your contract. Those 5 GWO passes were inappropriately entered into our internal CRM, which is used to record notes for front desk follow-up, rather than contractual obligations. These items were outside of policy, tolerated for a time, and discontinued appropriately by management.
We understand this has caused frustration. Our goal is always fairness and consistency for all members. We’d welcome the chance to talk with you directly and see what we can do moving forward to make this right.
Negative experience: If you value your motivation, energy, and respect, stay as far away from this place as possible! I joined this gym with very high motivation and excitement to work out, but they completely drained all my energy and passion. The staff and management are the worst I’ve ever seen, extremely unprofessional and unbelievably rude. Despite paying for a full year in advance, I refuse to go back because of how badly they treat their members

Negative experience: The gym itself along with the staff is okay, but it can be a little pricey. However, if you ever plan to cancel the membership at this gym, it is a nightmare. Always read the terms and conditions in the contract, or else you will be stuck paying a membership for something you can't use anymore. When I was first buying the membership, the sales associate I talked to said I was able to cancel anytime. Although later, with a closer inspection of the terms, I realized this is not the case. If you get the monthly membership for a year, you are unable to cancel under any circumstances. This is quite insane and a shady business tactic. I made sure to specifically ask if we could cancel or not because of the fact that I'm going away for university soon, and will be completely unable to attend this gym anymore. I did not expect the process to cancel to be so convoluted. They keep asking me to come another day for the manager to sort things out, and when I do go the next day, they tell me to come another day for the manager. I do not get why this process is so difficult. Please let me cancel, I do not have the money to spare right now because of how much university costs.

At the time of enrollment, members are presented with multiple options — some at a slightly higher rate that allow cancellation at any time, and others at a lower rate that require a one-year commitment.
On July 4, 2024, you signed the one-year agreement, which was sent directly to your email along with the terms and conditions. This agreement clearly outlined the one-year commitment.It looks like you’re currently in discussions about transferring your membership to someone else. Negative experience: I got trapped by this gym. I had a four month contract, which I confirmed with the agent would cancel at the end of the term now that the term has ended they have taken a monthly payment out from my account, which is not part of the contract. They don’t specify the details when you sign up and then they’re going to surprise you. don’t get caught up in their salesman, objection handling techniques. It’s extremely hard to reach the manager and no one is helping.

Negative experience: This was one of the most unprofessional experiences I’ve encountered at any establishment. While attending with a family member, we witnessed a manager openly belittling and reprimanding a staff member in front of clients. The interaction was so uncomfortable and inappropriate that we chose to leave and miss our class. It’s deeply concerning that any organization would allow staff to be treated this way publicly. It raises serious questions about how employees are treated behind the scenes. This kind of behavior not only creates a toxic work environment but also reflects poorly on the business as a whole. Negative experience: the management is really poor. Many of the halters are missing, and half of the equipment is broken. Some of the halters have been gone for almost a year, and nothing has been done to replace them. The machines have been out of order for over six months, and as a result, many users have closed their accounts. This situation has to be addressed, and management needs to take responsibility.

Negative experience: Beware: Horrible Customer Service and Deceptive Practices at Fitness Connection I’ve had one of the worst customer service experiences of my life with the management at Fitness Connection. I strongly advise anyone considering this gym to stay away. Their management is completely unresponsive — good luck even getting a callback or an email. I waited over a month just to receive an automated response. I joined in November because it was just a 10-minute walk from my home, and I wanted to support a local business. I came in for a 2-month promotion, but the sales rep locked me into a 1-year contract. I was asked to e-sign, never received a physical copy, email, or any explanation of the contract terms. When I specifically asked whether I could cancel in case I moved, I was told “It’s not a problem at all.” That turned out to be a complete lie. In February, I had to move abroad and called to cancel. That’s when I was told the membership can’t be canceled, only paused. But what they don’t tell you is that they keep charging you even when the membership is paused! I was charged for months while overseas, and my bank account even went into overdraft three times because of it. Despite repeatedly calling and emailing, I could never get a manager on the line. I sent in proof of my new address, but all I heard back was, “Someone will reach out” and nobody ever did. To make matters worse, I later received a notice demanding I pay the entire remaining contract including the months they claimed were “paused” or they would send it to collections. This situation has caused me tremendous stress and mental anguish. I’m still waiting to hear from the General Manager, but I don’t expect a resolution. Based on this experience, I will be contacting the Better Business Bureau, consumer protection agencies, and community groups in Richmond Hill to raise awareness. No one should have to go through what I did. The attached photo shows the one-month-late response I received after returning to Canada in June and contacting them again. That was the entire explanation. Do yourself a favor and avoid this gym. Poor management, zero accountability, and a complete lack of basic customer service.
Negative experience: I had been a member at Fitness Connection RH for over 3 years and was generally satisfied with the gym itself — it’s clean and not overly crowded, which I appreciated. Unfortunately, my experience took a turn due to a frustrating situation with their management. I attended some classes that weren’t included in my regular membership, but since the app still allowed me to book them, I assumed I could use up a few sessions I had previously paid for. Instead of a fair resolution, the management tried to charge me excessive fees — far beyond what I reasonably owed. Despite multiple conversations, they kept pushing additional charges that I couldn’t even get a clear explanation for. In the end, I chose to cancel my membership and agreed to forfeit my final month just so they could apply that toward the balance. Even then, they continued to demand more money with no proper breakdown. I’ve never had this kind of issue with any gym before. It’s clear that customer satisfaction is not a priority — only profit. The new management team is unhelpful, dismissive, and unwilling to resolve issues fairly. *Warning*: be very cautious. You may still be charged even if you request a freeze on your membership. Disappointing experience from what used to be a decent gym.
Hi Viktoria, we work hard here at Fitness Connection to keep our members happy. Unfortunately, if someone takes advantage and uses services without paying, we need to do what is fair for our workers and honest members.
When we saw that you were accessing exclusive classes without paying, we informed you that this could not be done. You continued to go to these classes despite this warning so we were forced to follow up and insist that you pay for these services. You claimed that you paid this higher rate in February without using the classes and were 'making up for the time', but after we investigated your usage, it turned out that you took it upon yourself to decide that 1 month would make up for 5 months worth of usage without paying. You yourself admitted that this was not fair.
We offered you several options, one of which was a special exception that would have been more suited to your busy schedule and would have given you 3 more classes to use with the possibility of purchasing more. You declined these options and started trying to negotiate how many months you wanted to pay for.
When you opted to cancel your membership, we thought it would be best to close your account immediately and apply the difference for your last the the amount owing. While this is not the outcome we hoped for, we cannot keep on members who openly admit to using higher priced services and decline to pay for them. This is not fair to the instructors who oversee these services, and it is not fair to the members who pay for them. We are no different from any other industustry in the opinion that use of goods and services without payment is theft.

Negative experience: I strongly advised for people to read the reviews before signing up. This gym is the worst I’ve ever felt with. Locked in a contract I can’t get out of, they verbally tell you you can freeze your membership but what they fail to verbally tell you is that they’ll still charge your card while your membership Is frozen and then credit you for the month(s) you froze. And every time you speak to Someone via email they you don’t know whom you’re addressing as they don’t sign off with their name just fitness connection. How can you promote a fitness company like this but not offer the option to cancel your membership due to medical reasons or distance issues what kind of scam is that ? If I could give less than 1 star I would because you don’t even deserve the star at all. I’ll definitely be going to the BBB

Hi Ryan, we here at Fitness Connection are always trying to improve our member experience. We're wondering what happened between now and when you informed us you would be moving away back in March and we cancelled your membership with no issue. Back in October of last year your experience was positive enought that when your 2 month short term membership was expired you upgraded to our yearly plan. You made good use of this plan for 6 months before you had to leave the area.

Negative experience: Unfortunately, my experience with this gym was not very pleasant. Despite clearly informing them that I would be out of the country for a while—and even requesting a hold on my membership—they continued to withdraw monthly payments from my account without permission for eight months. I was only able to recover four months' worth of charges through my financial institution, while the rest was never refunded by the gym. Even after this issue, I was still willing to continue my workouts at Feetnees and suggested that they compensate me with around four months of gym credit instead. However, after being passed around multiple times between the finance department, management, and head office, my request was not accepted and I eventually had to cancel my membership. My advice to anyone thinking of joining this gym is: be very careful with your payments. If possible, pay month-to-month and avoid giving them your credit card information.

Negative experience: Hi As i didn’t receive any response to my previous letter since last week,,,,,,(left by Michael at the front desk). I did informed your manager yesterday to terminate my membership immediately And refund my money before I go to the next step.BBB am so glad I came across this topic! I've been going to the gym for decades and absolutely for sure the expectations of gym goers regarding this topic has changed! First off, if someone leaves equipment sweaty or greasy, ! then absolutely positively for sure they should clean it up before the next person has to use it. That being said, couple of time to your stuff, Since you’re not providing any paper towels inside the workout room, ,,since your limited towels one for each member,!!! Since you have no paper towels around the workout room,, Since loo area (washrooms) always dirty and smells bad ,,,,,,,,,,, Since new management asked me to remove my old testimony from google So many times I've sat on equipment and my skin touches those nasty chemicals, which can definitely aggravate your skin and even your sinuses. Also, as mentioned above, if you're going to wipe it, you better wipe it the correct way so that actually does something other than spread the sweat or oil or germs around. One towel are you ducking joking with people health??? I just tip your cleaning staff 5 $ for each entry Just checked out how many times I entered in 5$ each time above my membership. How the heck you want to explain yourself as a certified gym corporate in Canada that one small towel not spreading bacteria and germs, after one use in one another machine!!!Right. So this whole wiping thing is fairly stupid and wasteful, really, unless you are just drying it off from your SWEAT AND OIL for the next With more pepper towel That you couldn’t provide since last management I’m a certified live blood cell specialist , who did research over a 600 hrs last year in the live blood cell laboratory,just on human blood and anatomy Trust me one small towel that you providing people of richmondhill,just spreading bacteria and germ to the next person. Fitness Connection provides microfiber cloths and commercially approved disinfectant spray to every member for use before and after workouts. Our staff follows a thorough, documented cleaning protocol throughout the day. However, we are actively looking into your comments about the washrooms, as maintaining a clean and safe facility is a core priority for us. While we aim to address every member's concern with care and professionalism, there are limits for us. On two separate occasions, your conduct toward our front desk team was aggressive and inappropriate. We have a responsibility to protect the safety and well-being of both our staff and members. Following the second incident, after a prolonged period of yelling and profanities in the club, we decided to terminate your membership. We believe in creating a supportive, respectful environment for everyone who walks through our doors. When that standard is breached, we take appropriate action.

Fantastic experience: Registration was super quick, and Iesna (the receptionist) was very helpful and kind. Filtered water ✅ Clean gym ✅ Good space ✅ Good communication ✅ A piece of advice: After 7:00 PM, the gym tends to be crowded, so if you can, try to go before that time to avoid waiting too long for the next available machine.

Fantastic experience: I’ve been to many gyms over the years but it’s the customer service that keeps me here at Fitness Connection. Each morning when I come in early to start my day, I am greeted by name by Fran at the front desk. She runs a tight ship and is great at her job. In fact, most of the desk staff know me by name and it’s these personal touches that makes this gym feel like more than just a place to train - it’s a community. Bonus points for having punching bags and a steam room too. My only critique is the lack of towel service. More frequent laundry is a small price to pay for an excellent gym overall.

Negative experience: I’ve been a member of Fitness Connection Richmond Hill location for a while, but after my recent experiences, I feel the need to warn others about the shady practices happening behind the scenes. The management at this gym is absolutely terrible. They treat their employees horribly, often speaking to them in a condescending and disrespectful manner. It's clear that morale is at an all-time low because of the way the staff is treated. Even worse, the gym's contracts are a nightmare. They don't disclose key information up front, leaving members stuck in unfair agreements. I felt blindsided by the fine print and the lack of transparency. And when it comes to addressing issues, forget it. The management team will actively avoid communication when there’s an issue with billing or any other problem that needs resolving. They refuse to speak with members or offer any solutions. It’s disappointing because the gym itself is decent, but the shady practices and complete lack of accountability make it impossible to recommend. If you're considering joining, I’d seriously reconsider. This gym’s management is more interested in avoiding responsibility than actually providing good service. I’m actively looking for a new gym, and I urge others to do the same until they make some serious changes. Such a shame.

Negative experience: After being a member for almost 8 years I chose to cancel my membership. I have never had an issue with this gym until recently. Their new management is shady and does not care about this gym or value their employees. Specifically Jamie. One of several instances is where he chose to avoid being honest about his policies and instead fired a trainer for simply asking reasonable questions and clarification. The entitlement is disrespectful for not only trainers but for members as well as it is clear there is absolutely no value for the establishment anymore. I signed up for another gym and after two weeks there, have felt a sense of community that I have not felt at Fitness Connection in several years. Save yourself from their slimy business practices and do not train here or sign up as a member.

Negative experience: I was always wanted to get into fitness and make myself better. Seraj one of the members of fitness connection assured me that I would have a good experience and welcome me with open arms. He invited me to the gym to have a warm conversation and explore the gym together. When I arrived at the facility, at 10am. I was informed that he is not there. He did not update me with anything. This is very unprofessional and uncourteous. The same story happened 6 months ago. Don’t remembers the name of the person but I didnt want write review that time .Thanks fitness connection for the good experience.

Fantastic experience: It was our first time visiting Fitness Connection, and we had so many questions about their memberships, classes, and facilities. Azin, one of the staff members, was incredibly patient and kind. She took the time to explain everything thoroughly and made us feel comfortable asking even more questions. It was not true and they did nothing to compensate for this, instead blamed everything on me. there are better gyms in the area, go check them out instead.

Negative experience: BUYER BEWARE They’re faking their reviews by giving away free towels. After recent management changes this gym has gotten greedy and charging members more without even telling them about price increases and treating members like criminals when they are confused about owing a balance. They had 3 stars before trying to incentivize 5 star reviews. Poor business practise, beware of this scam. Edit: They tried to have my review removed, trying to silence the truth how pathetic.
Negative experience: Used to be a member with them, called them back to sign up again. The guy over the phone, Winston I think, said that they do monthly payments. I drove all the way there and he then tells me a different story of only able to offer a 12 month commitment and will not waive off the sign up fee he said he would over the phone. Ah the usual bait and switch, used to be a member and will never come back due to this poor type of sales technique. You can kiss my money goodbye!!!

Such gyms should put the time into hiring someone more experienced and elderly than putting a young, unexperienced and unprofessional people like him. It definitely destroy the reputation.
