Fantastic experience: Really good rate 5

Negative experience: The most unorganized, unprofessional group of people to deal with. Amanda Mansfield is by far the WORST person to deal with when it comes to your child. Months to respond to an email, or doesn’t respond on all. Says she will do something, and doesn’t do it. And if you attend before and afterschool, please be careful of your children. I walked into the gym with my son being pinned to the ground by another student, asking him to get off and stop, and the little boy wouldn’t. Staff just looked at them and went on with their day. Absolutely disgusted. And would NEVER recommend this before and afterschool program at the YMCA.

Negative experience: Not good experience they have there special weeks for camp week put that doesn't happen like it said on they site kids spent not much time outside no crafting. My daughter said she was bored there she liked they three house and pool she forgot her bag one time in class room so they dint let her go swimming. Is it not there responsibility too check if everyone has there stuff before they walk over too they pool .drop off was not really clearly in begging either .for what you pay for week I would expect more .Definitely would not sent her again.

Positive experience: love working out here the machines are usually pretty clean and in working order

Negative experience: If you’re looking for a gym experience that feels more like a waiting room with dumbbells, this is the place for you. With barely enough equipment to share between three people and a workout space the size of a walk-in closet, you’ll have a better time jogging around the block. The gym hours are also a big issue—timings are poorly managed and not updated regularly, which has led to several trips where I showed up only to find the gym unexpectedly closed. On top of that, the staff doesn’t seem well-trained or organized. They messed up my registration twice, and I had to explain everything all over again each time I came in.

Fantastic experience: Dropped in a few times for a lift while visiting and was v impressed. I work in high-performance and Olympic sport, and this gym is way more equipped than expected—easily supports elite-level training. Super clean (have disinfectant wipes) and good vibes. Saw a jacked guy helping out a newbie—no ego, just good people. Price is more than fair, esp compared to other small cities or abroad. Highly recommend for anyone from casual lifters to athletes.

Negative experience: not the best experience attempting to register my children for the summer camp program. Have attempted several times to reach the supervisor in person and by phone for a week of camp with subsidy. Calls not returned. In person experience awful… met with “ I don’t knows”, “you can’t do that’s” and “ I can’t help yous”

Positive experience: I just became a member here. Nice staff and decent workout equipment for the size they have to work with. My complaint, which is why I am giving a 3/5 star review is the lack of cleanliness. 1- multiple lockers have dirt/rocks/salt in them from boots and shoes- this mess is even on the top shelf in the lockers. 2- the workout room has dirt and small pieces of garbage on the floor that has been there for days (I go every day so I can compare the lack of cleanliness each day). 3- some of the wall canisters that hold the cleaning wipes are either empty or broken. Please don't think of this as a snob who is complaining to complain. I know this is public facility and I recognize that some of these issues come with public recreation centers, but the lack of cleanliness at the facility is below normal. It would be appreciated if this could change for the better. Thank you.

Fantastic experience: I honestly love this gym so much! They have a great variety of workout classes with exceptional teachers. Yes, the building is outdated, but they are in the process of building a new one. The Kidscare is an even bigger bonus. I could drop my baby off for 5$ and attend my workout class without worry. The Kidscare is typically quiet and the staff are just lovely. I’m surprised more people don’t take advantage of such a great resource.

Negative experience: Went to play in the treehouse, no accessible entrance, no signage, not very welcoming. Carried the stroller, baby & toddler down the stairs, paid for my toddler to play (11:10am), went unloaded the baby and got into the play place, played for 15 minutes. A school showed up, they had a booking, another employee (not the one who let us in) came in yelling at us, he was extremely rude, telling us we weren’t allowed to be in there, there was a booking for 11:15 & we should’ve read the sign. This was our first experience, we did not know it was our responsibility to search for a sign that said it was closed for a private party. We paid for entry, which we should’ve initially been denied. After yelling at us for being there, on our way out he did apologize and refund our money. However, the refund was a given & more should’ve been done considering the way we were spoken to. Very unhappy with the way we were treated & the lack of accessibility.

Fantastic experience: Thanks to Tyler and the team here I was able to throw my friend a pickleball session for her birthday. Cant thank Tyler and the YMCA enough for the superior service and treatment.

Positive experience: Weight room. Pros : decent amount of equipment. Nice staff. Cons : it's mostly a high school all boys gym. Complete with cringe-inducing flexing in the mirror and horseplay.

Melanie M Published on Google 2 years ago

Negative experience: General public are not allowed to use accessible entrance. Showed up for the birthday party. I needed the accessible entrance for my stroller. Both front entrances have stairs. I get directed BY STAFF to the entrance in the back. Grab all my stuff. I walk all the way around just to not be allowed to enter. If you are not a member you have no right to use it. You are not welcome. I had to ask strangers to help me with my stroller to get it inside the flight of stairs since they lock the accessible entrance. Please don't direct people all the way behind for them to not be allowed to use it. Very disappointing that the Y is not accessible to the public. If you need a membership to get in. How are you supposed to go in to get one? I will not be able to get in to get one in the future if I wanted one it's a good way not to have accessible members

Fantastic experience: We take a pre-schooler and toddler almost every weekend to the Treehouse. They love it.

Nathan Hodgson Published on Google 2 years ago

Negative experience: I came here as a 12 year old there was a very disrespectful old lady whom was the manager kicked me out refused to check my name to see how old I was and was banned from the tree house along with my friends

Elizabeth Lehtinen Published on Google 2 years ago

Fantastic experience: Such a friendly, lovely place to workout! The staff are super helpful, knowledgeable and know everyone by name.

Negative experience: Not allowed to do anything and h get told not to do this not to do that when ur sitting down and an old man that works at the YMCA was harassing me

Brooke MacAlpine Published on Google 2 years ago

Positive experience: If you're a parent that will require kidskare in order to make use out of your membership I would avoid using the Belleville YMCA facility until they resolve their staffing issues and extend their kidskare hours/days. I was paying a monthly kidskare fee for 2 kids and a monthly fee for the treehouse and for the amount of closures since November until now it has not been worth it at all, I barley got to utilize my gym membership. Not to mention I was rarely notified of the closures until I would show up at the facility ( I live about 30 minutes away).  I was told the best way to contact the manager to resolve this was via email back at the beginning of January. It's been a month and I'm still waiting for a response even though I was told by a staff member that it has been read. I am frustrated and upset because I really loved going there. The members were so friendly there and the floor staff were always welcoming. I truly felt like I was part of a community before everything went downhill.

Negative experience: Ahh what to say the Belleville Y I used to go here as a kid all the time. I always love the Sauna it’s nice that they still have it. Had my kids in swimming lessons a few times. but the last time their instructors weren’t very friendly, to me or the kids. Updating to add we were there recently and had a bad experience. They closed early on a weekend & the staff was rude.

Positive experience: During the heightened COVID times and the disuse of certain equipment due to distancing, members should be reminded that circuit, (multiple equipment use), training should not be conducted, as a courtesy to those who do not have the luxury of time. Cell phones should not be allowed in the workout area. I'm on call 24/7, 365 days a year and my phone stays in my locker when I work out, not with me seated on a piece of equipment ... texting.

Fantastic experience: Great staff, great community. The gym and pool are both lovely.

; keara Published on Google 5 years ago

Positive experience: Over priced for what it offers. The recent upgrade was much needed, but I think they still have a lot of work to do in order to measure up to other gyms. I think that they should try to be apart of the community and area they are in, instead of looking for outsiders. However, I know they do offer a reduced price for people of low/no income, but the price just matches others in Belleville, making them no better.

Jamal Browner Published on Google 6 years ago

Negative experience: The creepy old lady has no idea how a gym works and makes it a very uncomfortable environment to workout in.

John Applebees Published on Google 6 years ago

Positive experience: Well equipped gym featuring recent modern open-plan upgrades. Locker rooms also need renovating however.

Positive experience: Continually evolving. 5 stars for where it is and what is offers in Belleville. I've been around this Y for 13/14 years. In recent years they have done a bunch of renovations (it is 2018 currently). More renovations are underway currently. YMCA daycamp - 1 star. Not for boys. I hope this changes in the future. YMCA Preschool and daycare - 5 star. Great program with great staff. Judy at the main desk is a wonderful lady and very helpful.
