The Pulse Fitness Centre: Opinions
Fantastic experience: They don’t allow any bags in the gym area!!! Bring ur lock
Negative experience: Abysmal. Especially, the music.
Positive experience: The gym is nice and has new machines. I just wish it had 2 chest fly machines.
Fantastic experience: A lot of great equipment and amenities
Fantastic experience: Great gym
Negative experience: Over crowded. I personally think there is a lot of improvement that can be made among staff, such as the importance of respect from staff (trainers or front desk) to the consumer. The staff could be more professional. Manager is dismissive of student concerns too. They play music that is not my taste, not very diverse or inclusive.
Negative experience: The reduction in summer hours make it next to impossible to attend the facility, yet I'm still stuck paying into it as part of the ancillary fees...ugh.
Positive experience: Great gym with a wide range of equipments, but always sooo crowded !
Positive experience: their playlist goes insane
Fantastic experience: This gym is amazing for everyone, especially Mac students! The equipment is all new, the facility is massive with many different activities. The gym goers are mostly casual and includes many advanced equipment. Everyone there is nice and minds their own bussiness.
Negative experience: terrible place to workout. Feels like you're in a zoo
Negative experience: Always crowded
Fantastic experience: 几乎可以找到所有的锻炼设施
Fantastic experience: My favourite place in MAC
Fantastic experience: Amazing experience, i was having trouble with a specific workout and the staff where very helpful. Shoutout to chilly, he was an amazing help!
Fantastic experience: Can get a bit busy, but always rack ur weights please.
Fantastic experience: Very spacious and well equipped gym
Positive experience: I've been coming here for a while now and overall its a really nice gym. Almost all the equipment you need (lacking in some core machines tho). Summer hours for weekends are a bit tight IMO but it is what it is. The staff and front desk are all super friendly too. Just watch out for busy times (start of year / start of semester), it gets really busy with new ppl who dont know what they are doing. After the first weel or so it starts to clear up. Overall, great gym and a good spot for students to start getting healthier!!
Fantastic experience: Lovee it!!!! Some snapshots into my personal workouts!!!
Negative experience: Nice equipment and decent space to workout in. They have good change rooms as well. However.. - worst employees you will ever find in a gym. Very unhelpful, and rude. They laugh at people appearance when they scan their card and will give you a dirty look for asking to charge your phone or even if you ask for a spot! They need less employees working the front desk. - way too busy and limited hours. You will be in line for almost every piece of equipment and they close at 10:30pm on weekends - worst gym playlist I have ever heard Pop/country music from the 2010s (all censored) and it’s so loud you will hear it through your headphones. All in all this gym is ok for mac students but I would never under any circumstances pay for a gym membership here.
Fantastic experience: Great. Free to mcmaster students. Newly renovated. Nearly empty in morning, but full in afternoon and evening.
Positive experience: Great gym for most workouts. Doesn't feature any deadlift platforms unfortunately but does feature powerlifting racks and plenty of machines. The floor is wood so definitely not a place for lunking. Also, bringing your own headphones is recommended as the music can be distracting at best.
Positive experience: Kind of ok..
Positive experience: Good place but confusing layout for the first timer
Positive experience: Plenty of equipment, some a little rusty/old. Not too crowded either.
Fantastic experience: The gyms have nice trainers and a wide variety of equipment, but their barbells and plates are showing age and need to be replaced
Positive experience: Has a lot of equipment for working out and the staff are very friendly.
Positive experience: Always crowded.
Negative experience: A good variety of equipment, but it is frequently over crowded
Positive experience: ...like why is their logo an ekg of an atrial flutter?
Fantastic experience: I go to the gym everyday but haven't lost any weight yet. I'm actually going inside next week to see what's going on.
Positive experience: Sometimes the machines are full, but the freeweight selection and overall facilities are top notch. The YMCA is pee pee compared to this
Positive experience: Always crowded.
Fantastic experience: Banggg
Positive experience: Thank you for posting the "popular times" histogram- very helpful in planning my vists.
Fantastic experience: Headphones are a must (specifically noise cancelling) You'll be hearing a lot non-hiphop/r&b genres of music. But if you're into working out to country music. Then this is the place for you. 10/10 staff and facility though
Positive experience: A clean gym with plenty of equipment. Most of the time it is very busy, but weekends and late evenings during the week aren't too bad.
Negative experience: no customer service whatsoever (hahah staff), stupid dress code
Negative experience: Dress coded my friend. FLOP
Negative experience: Almost always crowded mcmaster really needs to expand it, always waiting for gym equipment. hours are pretty lousy too, considering just getting a membership to another gym off campus
Positive experience: Only one leg press? MCMASTER PLS
Positive experience: Great customer service, well maintained, and lots of variety when it comes to equipment. Only complaint is that its pretty much always crowded, meaning you have to wait for the more popular stuff (bench press, squat racks).
