Expérience fantastique: Janet is fantastic at adapting exercises to fit my needs, helping me stay fit and maintain muscle as I get older. She understands how to modify workouts to keep them effective, but respectful of my limit. She is patient and knowledgeable with a positive attitude. I highly recommend her to anyone looking for a trainer.

Expérience fantastique: Janet and Shirley are special. After two caesareans I developed diastases and other complications and it was hard for me to know what exercise would be effective. The other exercises I tried seemed to aggravate my body but with Alignmethod I learned proper form and how to build and tone safely. I saw my body change for the first time in years and I always felt safe. They work with all body types and needs. I am so impressed with all the experts you get exposed to through their packages as well. They brought hope and a feeling of strength back to my body. You don't have to have special conditions to work with them but knowing proper form, nutrition and strength training is the fastest way to make an impact for anyone. They are not like instructors that teach a class and let you go on your way, they get to know you and your specific needs. The studio is lovely and I would highly recommend checking out a class!

Expérience fantastique: I trained with Janet during late stages of my pregnancy and post delivery. I was able to bring my body back to pre pregnancy weight and tone so fast because her training and exercises were tailored for exactly what I needed. Especially reconnecting my deeper core muscles. My posture and lower back were a focus as well and I felt immediate improvement after just a few adjustments that she offered. Also, the studio is beautiful and clean. Group classes are small which means lots of personalized attention.

Expérience fantastique: Best yoga and Pilates studio in town! I love the variety of classes offered. There's something for everyone, a perfect balance of strength, flexibility, and relaxation. Every class feels like a mini-retreat. The two instructors are amazing and incredibly knowledgeable and supportive. They make the workout accessible to all levels.

Expérience fantastique: Janet and Shirley are truly wonderful. I am forever grateful for their support over the past year from second trimester through to six months postpartum. I hadn’t felt strong in my body in years, with the pandemic life and first baby. Through a combination of 1-1 training to start and small group classes Janet and Shirley were great to train with and I attribute a smoother recovery and postpartum experience to them. They were attentive to prior injuries and adaptive to wherever I was at that day—low energy, back pain—and I felt completely safe. The studio itself is calm and welcoming, well equipped, intimate and fun! I've been with several trainers and gyms in the past and this has been my favourite. At first it felt like a big investment both of money and time with all the other things on the go, but it has been absolutely worthwhile and I only wish I’d found them sooner.

Expérience fantastique: I got to know this studio through class pass. I have had several pilates classes here and really enjoyed the small class size and attention the teacher provided us through correcting our proper posture. It was just the right amount of workout and getting a small sweat on. My favorite was the prenatal class, which I joined by accident. Free parking out front is great.

Expérience fantastique: I am happy to have Shirley guided me through Align Methods exercises with private introductory sessions. She is professional and caring in assessment and corrections of my postures and adjustment to find a good alignment. She had helped me build strong core muscles and improve overall body strength making me more mindful and move in safer ways. I strongly recommend her to men and women age 20 to 90.

Expérience fantastique: I have been having personal sessions with Shirley for the past few months to help with pelvic floor issues post partum and to help strengthen my core. I had never been to a gym before and was nervous about starting but Shirley made me feel at ease straight away with her kind and calm demeanor. She is extremely knowledgeable and has helped me to become stronger and more confident; I no longer have the pelvic floor issues I once had. Expérience fantastique: I began personal training sessions at Alignmethod Studio a couple of months ago and I could not be happier with my results so far. I have been living with chronic upper back, neck, and shoulder pain for many years now due to an MVA. From the minute I began my consultation at Alignmethod, Shirley noticed immediately that my alignment was off. Since then, she has customized my training sessions to focus on balance, breathing, correcting my alignment, and strengthening my core in addition to my problem areas. I have noticed significant improvement in my symptoms and I am positive that I will continue to become stronger and overall healthier, allowing me to enjoy greater quality of life and become confident in my body’s abilities. Expérience fantastique: I started coming to this studio when I was 16 weeks pregnant and was probably the weakest I had been in the last decade. I wanted a studio that focused on pelvic floor health and pre and postnatal fitness and was so happy when I found this studio. Run by two sisters and fellow mothers, this studio is so welcoming! I felt safe, comfortable and confident getting their support and expertise during this pregnancy. They are super flexible and accommodating with my schedule and I’ve loved getting private sessions as well as attending their small group classes too. Fast forward, I’m now 35 weeks pregnant and feel stronger than ever and aligned in all aspects of my life. Highly recommend this studio!!

Janet is an incredible trainer – extremely knowledgeable, attentive, patient, and kind. Her gentle encouragement and positive outlook have motivated me to keep going and make strength training a non-negotiable in my life. I love the small group classes and the individualized instruction that Janet provides. Expérience fantastique: Janet is incredibly knowledgeable and detail oriented. I began working with her during my 4th pregnancy and felt very safe and supported working out during pregnancy and postpartum. I felt noticeably stronger immediately postpartum compared to any of my other postpartum periods. I would highly recommend !

Expérience fantastique: I had a difficult pregnancy and was referred to Janet via a pelvic floor physiotherapist. She was absolutely amazing. I learned an enormous amount from her about how my body works and what I could do to minimize complications. I kept working with her postpartum and I finally feel like I’m getting back to myself. Expérience fantastique: Shirley is extremely knowledgeable and helpful. She is professional in her approach and definitely worth recommending. After being diagnosed with Ankylosis Spondylitis and a degenerated disc in my lower spine, I contacted Shirley. With her careful guidance and expert advice, she guided me back to full mobility and almost no remaining pain. I stopped using my chronic medication after about 6 weeks of training with her. Her conservative but very constructive approach assured me that I was in good hands, and the results exceeded expectations.

Expérience fantastique: Janet is incredible! Ever since I started working with her, I have been able to have more freedom and strength in my body. She was the first person that noticed my ribs were not moving when I took a deep breath and I also greatly benefitted from learning hypopressives. Expérience fantastique: I came across Janet and Align studio by chance and I am sure glad I did! Being an athlete, pregnancy was very difficult as it slowed me down and restricted many of my activities, so once my little one was born I was desperate to get going again. Knowing my pelvic floor had just gone through a very traumatic event, I wanted someone that was educated about postpartum recovery. Janet and Align have been the perfect match for me! The studio is an ideal size and location, and it has been perfect for our small group Momma Strength classes. The fact that I can walk to the studio with my little one and do an hour of strength training where I'm not worried what my little one is like (Janet is a mom herself) has been a saving grace in my postpartum recovery in so many ways. My only regret is that I didn't find her earlier.

Expérience fantastique: Janet's wealth of knowledge about the pelvic floor, breath work and alignment is incredible but most important is the way in which she communicates it in an approachable, gentle way. I came to Janet to address injuries from working out and again to ensure I was engaging my core correctly when lifting. I've done small group classes, one on one sessions and workshops with Janet and have come out with instructions and cues which I can continue to implement in my every day to ensure I'm moving mindfully and confidently. I really needed to address my core and lack thereof because as I'm aging and weight shifts around and mobility is different - I needed to learn a new way to be to be and move. Expérience fantastique: I've been working with Janet since the fall of 2019 when she opened her studio at 33rd and Mackenzie. I dropped in to see what was opening up in my neighbourhood and when Janet told me what kind of classes she'd be offering, I signed up. Although I'd always been active (yoga, pilates), I was having back problems that were getting worse, and I have osteoarthritis in most joints. Regular fitness classes weren't working for me. Janet told me more about my alignment and body mechanics than anyone ever has. I was surprised at how much I had to work on - I didn't breath well, stand well, move well, but she kept me going with patience and empathy. Janet recommended a specific Physio, who noticed my scoliosis - which I've had since childhood, but it had progressed significantly and explained my back pain and pelvic floor changes. I don't think it would have been diagnosed if it hadn't been for Janet. When I was referred to the Scoli Clinic, Janet worked with my scoliosis Physio to support me, and my Physio said I was lucky to have Janet (don't I know!). I now manage my scoliosis with nothing but exercise! And until hand surgery a couple of months ago slowed me down, I was in better physical shape than I'd been for years. Janet adapts classes for me so I haven't lost all of my progress and I'm looking forward to being stronger than ever very soon. I consider myself a permanent student of Janet's!

Your dedication and consistency regardless of the pandemic, hand surgery, scoliosis or quite frankly anything else, has lead to constant results and gains in fitness, core strength, optimal alignment, breathing habits, and managing scoliosis symptoms. Your recent hand surgery slowed you down a bit as we modified your workouts to accommodate your recovery, but every week you’re better. You’ll be back to feeling stronger than before, sooner than you think.

Expérience fantastique: I highly recommend training sessions with Janet, the founder of Alignmethod. Her knowledge is vast and she is trained in a variety of methods and techniques, all with a goal to improve one's core health. She gives individualized attention based on your one's particular needs. The Alignmethod studio is very inviting yet intimate enough for personalized support. The free neighbourhood parking is a huge bonus as well! It's great to have this valuable resource right in the Mackenzie Heights community.

Expérience fantastique: After having 2 children and getting back into running, I thought a bit of leaking was normal. That's what the other Mom's thought too...And don't even think about jumping on a trampoline!! How wrong we were! Mummy Tummy and leaking can effectively be addressed by working with an expert like Janet doing specific pelvic floor and core work. At the same time I get a decent workout in a small class that is both fun and challenging!

Expérience fantastique: As someone who worked out a lot and was very comfortable with my fitness knowledge before pregnancy, I had a very hard time finding any prenatal-specific fitness classes that I felt were worth it. I wish I had found Janet's studio from the beginning but was thrilled when I finally discovered it at around 33 weeks! She is incredibly knowledgable, is very good at identifying what is happening with your body just by watching you move, and will actually make you sweat. I absolutely plan to continue training with Janet after giving birth and have complete faith she can help guide me to recovering safely and to best functioning.

Expérience fantastique: I can’t recommend Janet and Alignmethod studio enough. After the birth of my daughter I wanted to be able to run long distances and races again without risk of prolapse or leaking. I saw a pelvic floor physiotherapist who recommended alignmethod to me and I started by doing The Reset with Janet. She really knows her stuff, in 34 years I was never good about proper breathing or really aware of my posture (even though I’m an active person and I love to exercise I’ve just never made those things a big priority), but I’m so much more aware of my body and breathing now because of the exercises and practice that she gave me. My pelvic floor has had no issues either, I was back to running pretty quickly (after getting the ok from my physio) and I’ve run a half marathon without any issues. I’m still coming to the studio to do The Build and it’s been so beneficial. If you’re pregnant, have given birth, have other posture or core issues, want to connect better with your body, go see her!

After attending her classes, I then began referring all of my pregnant/post partum (at any stage) patients to her! Her classes were great, the part of the week I would look forward to most.
