Your child will get a great workout, gain confidence, skill, strength, discipline and great friends :) Dave the owner, has created a welcoming and safe environment. You won’t regret joining! There’s lots to do for parents on Bayview during class time and plenty of parking and a bus stop right outside.

As a result of his training there, he has become more attentive and focused. His grades at school have improved significantly and he is confident and embraces new challenges. David Thompson is an excellent instructor and gives his students a lot of one-on-one attention while he teaches this important life skill.

The gym itself is always in tip top shape. They have learned many new skills and continue to advance in their training.They have also competed with the gym and have been very successful in the tournaments. Here you can really notice the difference with the methods in which they teach the kids and their high confidence levels as a result. Highly recommend Thompson Jiu Jitsu!

Expérience fantastique: My daughter joined BJJ at Thompson Jiu Jitsu just before the before the New Year, and she absolutely loves it! Dave has a constructive and unique way of teaching where he just throws you into the sport and doesn't treat you like a beginner. It made my daughter very engaged and eager to catch up to the rest of her classmates. She learnt more in her first month there then she did anywhere else. She even had the opportunity to compete for the first time and earn her first podium! I highly recommend Thompson Jiu Jitsu. There is no where else that compares to it.

Dave the owner & lead instructor is a great guy who establishes a strong & genuine bond with his students. As good as Dave's adult program is, the kids program is even better. Expérience fantastique: My two kids have been taking BJJ at Thompson Jiu Jitsu in Leaside for 4 years now, and we love the lessons they learn with Dave and his teaching colleagues. Both kids learn the art of BJJ from the perspective of self defense and also being in control of their emotions and situations. There is a sense of comradery with the students, and they have entered into tournaments for a real sense of how to apply their learnings. As a triangulation, I'm always concerned with martial arts programs where kids are given accolades and belts based on that particular academy's standings. I took the kids to another academy in California, and the teachers there were very impressed with what they knew and their attitude toward learning BJJ. Their skills are congruent with the teaching standards across the discipline. As long as Dave has Thompson Jiu Jitsu running, my kids will be lifelong members!! Recommend? 5/5 100%

Dave and all the instructors are all very knowledgeable and experienced, and they're always patient and helpful. The classes are challenging, but they're so fun. I've learned a ton, and I've definitely gotten stronger. The atmosphere at the gym is also great. Everyone is friendly and welcoming, and there's a real sense of community. I always look forward to training. My kids are students too. They love it.

He took my novice 16 yr old son and shaped him into the Ontario Provincial Champion twice in 2 years (in his weight and belt). My son now loves the sport and helps teach the younger kids. BJJ will teach you more about yourself and the world than you could ever imagine. David Thompson is the living heart of Thompson Jiu Jitsu. A man that cares about every single student. A man that treats TJJ like his own big family. And this attitude is not only held by him, everyone Training there will treat you as one of their own from day one. But not only the atmosphere he created is top notch, but also the BJJ training. The curriculum is well structured and designed to teach you about a broad spectrum of Sweeps, Submissions and Takedowns in order for you to pick and choose your own style. And if all that wasn’t enough, one day I was at a birthday party where the majority was training BJJ in other gyms for a long time. And the second I mentioned David Thompson as my trainer, I found out about the great reputation he has all from blue up to black belts. I can’t thank TJJ and Thompson himself for the great time I had. I will definitely visit when I am back in Canada.

Expérience fantastique: At first I was sceptical about juijitsu however after a friend invited me to a first free class I fell in love with the sport. Since then in a short period of three months I’ve won 2 gold medals in 2 different tournaments, met the amazing people that go there and over all had a great time. The head coach David Thompson is very experienced and teaches people EXTREMELY well. The people that go there are very nice and will always assist in solving any questions and problems you will face.

What I wanted from a BJJ club I found here: Structured training program, very knowledgeable coach who really pays attention to you, a friendly caring bunch and tremendously clean facility. David is really good at teaching, he’s old school and to the point, he teaches you exactly what you need. The training program is really easy to follow. He is very patient with students and walks you through the drills thoroughly. If you want to grow your BJJ skills I would absolutely recommend this academy. One of the best if not the best in the Greater Toronto Area.
