Expérience fantastique: Great gym with great receptionist as well as great coaches.

Expérience négative: I was a loyal member of Matador for 8 years. I cancelled my membership in September 2024 via a hand written letter which I dropped off in person, and also sent multiple emails. We are in December and my credit card is still being charged. I've followed up by phone several times and nothing has been done. Signing up can be done the same day but canceling is like getting a meeting with the President of the United States. It's unfortunate that after years of my loyal support (including paying my membership in full throughout the pandemic while I was not going) I am being treated like I don't exist. Professor Jesse is a wonderful person and the gym is not the same without him.

Expérience fantastique: I have been a member of Matador gym now for just over a year. My experience as a member has been amazing. From the first class I attended I was openly welcomed and felt like part of the Matador team and family. It is ran professionally and with great integrity from the minute you walk in the door by the administrative team , coaches, professors and even fellow teammates. I’m developing new skills as well as self confidence to defend myself. I highly recommend this club to everyone kids, adults men and especially women.

Expérience fantastique: Matador MMA is a great gym, the staff and coaches are incredible. I train in the mornings under Coach Anastasia in both nogi jiu-jitsu, and MMA classes. She is an amazing instructor who focuses on developing your skills while stressing proper techniques.

Expérience fantastique: I have been doing Muay Thai for about 5 months now, and it’s been amazing. Lots of exercises and inspiration not forgetting the cardio training. If someone needs brutal workout then it’s the right place

The team is like a family and we all help each other getting better and better. I would highly recommend this gym to everyone!

Expérience fantastique: Started training here 1 month ago. It’s always intimidating starting something new, especially as an out of shape middle aged guy. Everyone at the club has been incredibly welcoming and accommodating. It truly represents a community and family minded environment where all levels are welcomed. Sensei Anastasia is a hard driver of her students, however she is incredibly patient and instructional. She takes the time to ensure the students understand the techniques and are practicing them correctly and safely. If you are looking for club to join to become a fighter or just to get in shape (me) I would highly reccomend this club. Bonus - I’ve already lost 10lbs in the month I have been training here.

Expérience fantastique: I love this gym. The energy and the staff are amazing. The venue itself is beautiful and hygienically clean. The trainers are fabulous. They know what they’re talking about. You get a really good workout and the people that come to this gym. This place has a really nice social feel I strongly recommend this gym to men and women.

My kids feel like part of the Matador family and always feel comfortable asking questions and for help if needed. The level of training and learning is always outstanding. Can't say enough good things about Colleen at the front desk. Always friendly and helpful with a positive attitude.

Expérience fantastique: Worth every dollar. Ive been to many gyms around the city. Non of them come close to the quality of training, and family environment this place offers. Ive seen complete useless beginners turn into professional competing athletes. This place is a family and feels like one.

He was having private lessons with Sebastian, who is fantastic with him, before joining in the group classes with the kids and it has been a wonderful experience for him. Professor Jesse takes time to ensure each child is focused on techniques and is genuinely learning. Also, the Front Desk is always so friendly. She always greets with a smile and is there to lend a hand. Thank you Matador MMA! Highly recommend.

Expérience positive: I never leave a bad review ever anywhere unless totally warranted, and it's tough for me to do so, the team at Matador is amazing second to none, killers galore. Family atmosphere. The only issue seems to be administration/3rd party membership Colleen at the front counter is amazing but once we get past that point I'm not sure what's going on... Been trying to get my membership canceled for over a year. Understandably COVID has been hard and long, but as someone who is involved in customer service on a mass scale daily there has been no more important time to be right there for your family and team, hasn't been my experience with admin issues, and that's okay I'm just one person take it for what you want. I also understand they use a third party for memberships, but a year with no replies or call backs or anything for that matter is a bit tough, many emails with no replies or phone calls with empty promises. 2 letters of cancellation dropped off (one was lost which could entirely be my fault) Colleen was amazing and saved my butt with the second one. I continue to get billed after an entire year plus and paying in full at the 3rd month mark, don't get me wrong if I didn't move over an hour away I'd be here every day with the team. Now I have to deal with the bank and creating disputes. which is super annoying. tl;dr If you want to be trained by the best and be a part of an amazing family please go here, I miss these guys every damn day!!! just do your self a favour and either pay month to month or make sure there is no auto renew on your membership. 6/5 star gym 7/5 star family 5/5 star front desk 0/5 star administration/membership company

Expérience fantastique: First let me say, don't believe these fake reviews, they don't even make sense. I've been at Madator for about 6 months on, and off, and the people there already feel like family. Sadly I moved, so my time at Madator is coming to an end, and April could be my last month if I don't find a place near the facility until June. I learned alot at Matador, I used to be at Gracie Woodbridge before, and several other academies, but I prefer Madator by far. Professor Jesse, is very knowledgeable, and the Jiu Jujitsu there is top notch, he teaches the classes himself, and he really cares about his students, there are other Proffessional fighters, and ex pros that train us, and other student Amateur fighters turning pro, so if you're into competing, this is definately the place. If not, this is also the place. There are Muay Thai, and great MMA classes too where we put everything together. We do drills, sparing sessions, conditioning, and more. The place is a good size, there is all the equipment you need for a great workout in the back, and the mats are in the front of the gym area, and also a separate tattoo parlor right when you enter the premise. Depending on your membership, you can train there from 12pm-2pm in the open mats/gym, and from 6pm-8pm in the evenings. The ambience is soothing, and you feel like you're there to train, with music that pumps you up, and the art plastered all over the walls that makes you feel like a warrior. I appreciated my time at Madator. Thank you❤

I’ve had the pleasure of Meeting some local and international BJJ and MMA legends while visiting. Definitely THE best MMA gym in Woodbridge area and one of the top gyms in all of Toronto and GTA. Prof Jesse Richardson is also just an incredibly nice guy, would recommend to anyone just curious about MMA and BJJ as well as to anyone looking for a serious competitive vibe!

Emphasis on self defence with direct lineage to Brazil under master Sylvio Behring. Matador has a great atmosphere and everyone is treated like family. I would recommend matador to anyone interested or looking to get started in jiu jitsu or kickboxing.

He is a 3rd Degree Black Belt under Mestre Sylvio Behring and takes pride in passing the knowledge and skills he has learned to his team. The Matador team are not only friends, they are family! Expérience fantastique: I've been training in martial arts since I was a boy and I've had my fair share of experiences with different clubs. I'm very impressed with Matador MMA! Professor Jesse Richardson is a great instructor that is truly passionate about the art and making people better. His instruction, experience, and knowledge is professional and inspiring. With members of all levels helping one another providing nothing but good vibes makes it that much easier to learn, just the fact that they have so many high-level martial artists that have devoted years to this Academy also says a lot. The facility is very accommodating, comfortable, clean, providing weights and all the equipment required to sharpen your Martial Arts skills. I've recently come from another Brazilian Jiu Jitsu Club never realized how behind I was until I came to a club of this caliber. I'm truly am thankful for finding Matador MMA.

Expérience négative: Very unprofessional team. When I was introduced to this gym, I was not a Canadian Citizen at the time so I did not have a Credit Card I could use to sign up. They said to me that it was not a problem because I could pay cash each month as long as I was okay with not signing any contract. The only thing a signed was an "injury contract" that basically said the gym was not responsible if I got hurt. After 1 month I did not like the place at all for different reasons. I went to the woman who I talked to the first time asking if I needed to do anything before leaving the gym. She said that, since I did not signed any contract, I was free to go. After one year, collector calls me saying I own 1,200 dollars to the gym for not paying the gym membership. When I asked collector to show me the contract, they send me a false contract with my information that were not filled in by me and at the bottom of the contract there was my signature form the "injury contract" I signed. In addition, who ever filled in the contract with my personal information, he/she put the wrong date of birth. When I tried to go there and ask for explanations, they were getting irritated and they were yelling at me. This is how they welcome new students at the gym.

Expérience positive: I loved everything about this club. Tattoo shop in front and then nice decent size training area with good music and vibe. Best instructor who will watch your movements and will guide you through how it's done. Drills were superb for learner. One thing i did not like is it is very pricy. So may be only rich people can afford this. If it was decent price or some sort of deal i would have sign up.
