Tiger Martial Arts

Expérience négative: I attended Tiger Martial Arts for over two years. I went from never training any martial arts to deputy black belt. I quit in May of 2024 due to other life priorities but have found I will never return for many reasons I will list below. Below is my opinion. The good: Good cardio training, easy place to get started as mostly everyone is friendly. The questionable: The ethics and integrity is something they preach, but lack themselves. First off, they push for you to join the upper programs and pass it off as it’s better training. Having sat through many of these “higher level trainings,” they’re not more advanced or anything. It’s a money grab. However, they do mention that this higher level is recommended and recognized by the CMAF, the Canadian Martial Arts Federation which sounded to me like it was actually some higher level certification or accreditation but it’s actually their own company or website which makes it greasy and rather unethical in my opinion. I also never appreciated how you get pulled into the office for the sales pitch. It’s so textbook used car salesman to try and close you on the higher level. Everything there already costs a lot, between paying nearly 100% more per month compared to other training facilities that train a more practical martial arts. They also won’t let you train at another gym. It’s an unwritten rule and you’ll get in trouble if you do. TL;DR For those looking to try out martial arts, go to another gym and save yourself the hassle where your progression actually means something, it’s cheaper and you’re not being sold to at every possible chance. They don’t do refunds either so don’t waste your money.

My very busy 4 year old absolutely loves going to his tiger classes and his teachers are also so patient and kind with him but most especially Mr.McCallum. He's learned so much in the few months he's been there. Watching him grow and mature along the way has been so incredible.

It’s inclusive and give the kids such great confidence, teaches respect and accountability and also teaches the kids to push themselves in a healthy way to reach goals. So glad I signed my son up and look forward to seeing how far he takes his training.

We've watched his confidence grow with every class along with learning so many new skills. Shout out to Mr McCallum who is an inspiring instructor and positive role model to all these kids

The entire group really is awesome to watch and the environment is very positive. So proud of my niece and all the other people in the "adult" group. There is a balance between discipline, respect, and support where students, along with my children, are proud of what they accomplish. I am very happy with everyone and everything at Tiger Martial Arts. Our kids are more determined, more focussed and proud of their accomplishments! It's neat to watch as a parent.

Expérience fantastique: The class instructors are amazing with all age groups. I am constantly seeing them help each kids individually on a area or move they may be stuck on. They encourage the kids to practice safety and respect during class and they genuinely seem interested and invested in helping each kid progress and learn. They are kind and helpful and my kiddo is learning and love class so far. highly recommended.

Expérience fantastique: 10 out of 10, I recommend Tiger Martial Arts Nanaimo. Master Viani is so amazing with her classes by keeping everyone engaged so effortlessly! When my child first started little tiger classes she was 6 years old and was very quiet. Her confidence has grown tremedously. We are so proud of her and love to watch her learn a new theme each month. This has so far taught her Blackbelt Honesty, Strength, Compassion, Integrity, Character, Listening, Patience, Determination, Commitment, Attitude, and Assertiveness. We are so happy we started 11 months and my child still looks forward to Miss Viani's class twice a week! Great Job Miss Viani!

Expérience fantastique: My 7yr old daughter joined Tiger Martial Arts just a few months ago and fell in love with it on day 1. The instructors are incredible with Mr. McCallum being an amazing mentor who brings energy and dedication to every class. The program not only teaches them impressive martial arts skills but also valuable life skills as well, including confidence, respect, responsibility and committment, all while making it fun. The leadership program is also a great blend of single person sport and team sport which works really well for our daughter. She likes to work on her individual skills and see her progress but this also has a team based feel as they all grow and learn together. I highly recommend!

Through the structure and discipline of classes his patience, manners, respect of both self and others, and no quit attitude have excelled. We have loved to watch his confidence grow. We have recommended TMA to many and will continue to do so. My son recently attended a free mma workshop at Tiger Martial Arts and the entire experience was great. Mr. McCallum and the rest of the staff were all fantastic with the kids and made it an enjoyable experience. The next day we signed our son up for the beginners membership. The first class was incredible for him. The members of Tiger Martial Arts and all staff were welcoming, friendly, and great at instructing. Lots of one-on-one time to get him comfortable and more understanding of what he was supposed to be doing. We look forward to what the next couple of months have in store!

The way we were welcomed by the staff and the positive changes not only in her self confidence but also attitude are amazing. After only one month! She absolutely loves the program and committed to a full year. (This is a big dealmfornher and she did not do it lightly). The amount she has learned in such a short time is incredible. And those are only a fraction of the benefits you will receive from membership at Tiger Martial Arts!

In my experience with Master Viani's Tiger Martial Arts I feel that I did not just become a Martial Arts student but a part of their extended Martial Arts Family. The Instructor Team here is amazing.
