Burlington Soccer Club: Avis
Expérience négative: It seems like a scam organization. I strongly advise against registering with them. When I attempted to sign my daughter up for a session, the system added another session that was already in progress and nearly finished—something I never selected. Why would they even list sessions that have already started as available on their website? I’ve been trying to resolve this issue for over two weeks, sending emails and leaving voice messages, but no one has responded or called back.
Expérience fantastique: A quality community soccer club in Burlington Ontario serving all skill levels from beginner to semi-professional.
Appreciate the positive review, Bob.
Expérience négative: Adding on post their reply: You were informed of my injury but didn’t mention insurance then. So it needs a negative Google review to get this info huh? So much for transparency. Injuries are acceptable if and only if it happens in the natural course of play. Not intentional pushing & shoving that i witnessed. And of course the referee is accountable. The referee needs to ensure players are informed about their conduct while the game is being played. He allowed fouls to continue without informing them it’s not right. This resulted in players thinking anything & everything was ok. I was fouled after the ball was passed which is never allowed in any league in any part of the world. Don’t try to wash your hands off by giving text book excuses. Own up to it & inform the referees to have more control. —————— Original post: I suffered a tear in my shoulder ligament due to poor refereeing. There’s no definition on what a foul is - play at your own risk. I guess they take the easy way out by getting everyone to sign a waiver.
Thanks for the review, Rajiv. We are sorry to hear about the tear in your shoulder, however, with all sport there is always a risk for injury (this is discussed at length in the waiver). In regards to the refereeing and the connection between that and the tear, while we understand the need for Match officials to control the game, a foul, which the injury seems to be caused from, is not the result of a referee. Further to this, the league rules are indicated on the website. We have tried to locate a profile under this name associated with a recent registrant, but were unable to. Would you please connect with us as each member of the league (registered) has access to insurance support (should you require this to recover from your injury). Please connect with [email protected]. **Update - we appreciate the response, can you please connect with the email as originally provided as we have not heard from you? Again, an account cannot be located under this name.
Expérience fantastique: Great soccer club
Thanks for the positive review, Desmond. We appreciate it.
Expérience fantastique: A great season with a solid organization. My son, who is 5, really enjoyed learning new skills and I enjoyed watching him grow. The end of season fun was the cherry on the Sunday. Looking forward to the winter session as well!
Thank you so much for the kind words and review. We are happy to hear your son had a great time this summer and we look forward to welcoming him at the domes this indoor season.
Expérience négative: It's unfortunate that this organization is so unprofessional and unorganized. This will be the last season for us. Emails go unanswered, the soccer fields are in deplorable condition (yes, thats on the City, but BSC seems to take no issue with it, every week it's the same brutal conditions). Two games cancelled due to rain and no attempts to reschedule. Ive been told by other parents to forget about the $ paid for those games, the league doesn't make up for it. Nice! Take your child and money elsewhere. 2 stars is generous.
Thank you for taking the time to review. Unfortunately, without any identifiers we are unable to reach out to discuss further. Please contact us at [email protected] as we would like the opportunity to learn. *Update- we look forward to connecting via email so we can chat about your feedback. We await your contact.
Expérience fantastique: We’ve done several sessions with Burlington soccer and our son has loved it! The Burli Blast is also always fun for the kids and they really look forward to it. The communication with the club as well as organization has always been great. Looking forward to our next session!
Thanks for the positive review, Jasmine. We’re glad to hear your son has had a great time!
Expérience négative: Sounds like a great organization and when we first signed up, again it looked well organized and that included the uniform pick up, app with schedules, players, attendance etc. Then we quickly realized how sloppy it was. I volunteered to be a coach and felt very unsupported. I knew little about soccer but they really needed someone as a coach so I volunteered. I volunteered based on the understanding that college and university kids will run the skills and practice etc and they only really need me to help out and to help organize shift changes for players during the last 30 minute game time. Each week was super inconsistent with the students playing on their phones, talking to one another and being so short staffed that they would be doing multiple teams at once. They are probably great soccer players themselves but have no skills when it comes to teaching others, getting lessons going or trying to run things efficiently. I found a few issues as a volunteer parent coach and sent an email to the organization about them but never heard back. The lack of response from the customer service team seems to be a consistent thing I see in these reviews. Each player gets their own ball which is great but the volunteer coaches do not nor do the student leaders so we had to find a kid willing to give up their ball for the game. Another issue as a volunteer parent coach was after getting the list of players on my team and uniforms, there was nothing about which player ordered which size. So I had other parents enquiring to me about a different size etc for their kids. The league should provide coaches with which size goes to what player. Anyways this league was very disorganized and frustrating to say the least.
Thanks for taking the time to leave a review, David. Stay tuned for an email coming your way so we can better discuss the above. *Update- have sent two emails to connect. Looking forward to hearing back.
Expérience positive: Extremely poor customer service. Requested for a refund for a week of summer camp. Haven't been provided with any updates about the refund for last 1 month. No one picks up calls. Email goes unanswered. Update: Had a discussion with the Marketing director about my grievance and she immediately went about solving my problem. This issue has been resolved and we are happily back to being the loyal customers of Burlington soccer :). Updated to 4 stars based on my experience
Thank you for taking the time to leave the review, Saugata and for connecting on Friday.
Expérience fantastique: I am very lazy when it comes to writing reviews, but I definitely want to give one here. I went for my son's registration and met Samantha. I was very impressed with her. She gave me proper time and answered all my queries. She is a very knowledgeable and kind person. I would like to thank her.
Thank you very much for the kind words and review. We will certainly let her know and hope you have a fantastic summer season.
Expérience positive: I wanted to update the review I left yesterday because very swiftly after posting my review, I was contacted by a few individuals who wanted to ensure that my issue got resolved. I really appreciate those who went out of their way to assist with this process. Their eagerness to resolve my issue was extremely appreciated and made me feel valued as a customer. Thank you for the quick and appropriate response and for helping me with this matter.
Laeum, We are glad to hear that our team was able to assist you with your questions for summer season. We'll see you on the pitch!
Expérience négative: Multiple parties have been trying to reach BYSC recreational customer service for upwards of 2 weeks now. We have not received any call backs, nor have we gotten an answer once. This persons mailbox is now full. Please message me for this individuals name and I will provide it, they are not providing any customer service, let alone satisfactory customer service.
Hi Brin, thanks for providing us the feedback. Would you please send us a note to [email protected] so we can best assist you further.
Expérience fantastique: Very good
Thank you for the positive review, Lilas!
Expérience fantastique: Angela is the best. She makes everything go on so smoothly and efficiently. Thank you Angela for all you help.
She is pretty fantastic! We will let her know your kind words and thank you for taking the time to review.
Expérience fantastique: I must say they run a great program here. Very inclusive getting parents helping out with coaching which is not an easy job. Kids have fun, learn how to play soccer and it’s a fun day out for parents watching!! Strongly recommend sending your kids here for soccer!
Thanks so much for the positive review, Bryan.
Expérience fantastique: Going back to the 70's I've had an association with soccer in Burlington, in all it's permutations. It simply is the best sport to get involved with and the BSC is the best club around. The attention to every player and the passion shown from the coaches is second to none. It is excellent, good fun! The Embracing Abilities & Lil Burli programs in a particular are awesome, BSC - you rock!
Thank you for such a positive review, Tony! We appreciate it. #wearebayhawks
Expérience négative: We did the U3 in Summer of 2023. We're a family that has done a ton of organized sports, especially for little kids and this was by far the worst organized group we've encountered. The coaches are volunteer parents - so its just total luck of the draw on if you get a parent that knows anything at all about organization or soccer (ours didn't). There were two 'game leaders' from the program. They spent the majority of the time chatting or wandering off. Absolutely zero skill building from them. The program is set up in a way where the first 15 minutes are 'skill games' which was just 8 minutes of red light/green light and Octopus for the remaining time. The remaining 30 minutes are 3 on 3... which is absolutely ridiculous for young children. There was no guidance. No skill building. No leadership from the program. Our kid ended up 'playing' for about 5 minutes out of the 30 cause he scored quickly and the rule was once they scored they sat. waste of money and our time.
Courtney, thank you for your review. We are sorry that you feel this way about the program and the game leaders assigned to the session. We do advise our members in the program description that the program is volunteer run, and as a non-profit, we would not be able to deliver the programs we do without them. Furthermore, the 3v3 is also in the program description on our website for clarity. With respect to the game leaders - did you bring this to the attention of our program lead to rectify the issue during the session? They did rotate each week, so we will ensure the team understands the importance in the future. If you would like to discuss further, please connect with our customer service team at [email protected] so we can continue the conversation about summer, 2023.
Expérience positive: Website experience is not great for finding standings, schedules, rosters, etc. BSL website was much better in this regard. They also retained records from previous years which was nice.
Thank you for your feedback. We appreciate it and will work to improve the customer experience on the backend with our development team.
Expérience fantastique: This is our first year with Burlington Soccer Club, and we enrolled our 5 year old into the Saturday morning league and Monday afternoon soccer school. The Saturday morning is super fun, and the actual soccer school is truly amazing with the guidance of coach Joao I can see an instant difference and my little guy is so excited to go and try all the different techniques. The passion coach Joao puts into is work is truly world-class. There are only great things to say about him and his team.
George, thank you so much for such a glowing review. Coach Joao is incredible and we are so happy to hear your little guy is loving the beautiful game and having fun!
Expérience négative: Decent league coordination and communication. Absolute worst reffing, every game. It seems like most the refs don’t know the proper rules of the game. This is in BU15.
Hi Jack, Thanks for your feedback with respect to match officiating. Please stay tune to an email coming your way.
Expérience fantastique: Burlington Soccer club's staff and workers are very nice.
Jad, Thank you so much for the positive review.
Expérience positive: Good facilities for indoor league soccer. Good management. My only concern and its a big problem for me personally, is the lighting in the two domes out of the three. Two are very dark and hard to play on the pitches. Then one has very good lighting, so i guess it would be possible to make the other two with better lighting.
Thanks for the review. We are reviewing options for lighting in our domes to improve the overall experience, so we appreciate the feedback.
Expérience négative: Played in the men's indoor soccer league... very disappointed with the quality of refereeing. Each ref had a different interpretation of the rules ex. (Slide tackles allowed/disallowed, penalty shots allowed/disallowed to name a few) it was very frustrating to not be able to have consistent rules across the games.
Hi Sandro, Thanks for taking the time to provide us with feedback with respect to the below. As mentioned in the email to you from a member of our team within the hour this was posted, we are happy to continue the conversation with respect to the process and discipline. Furthermore, this will be taken into consideration for the remainder of season and in advance of outdoor.
Expérience négative: rescheduling games on a holiday? you guys okay over there?
Kryzsztof, we are sorry to hear about your disdain for our reschedule to Easter Monday (not a statutory holiday) for our Men's Open League. Unfortunately, with the season scheduled to run through to April 24th already, and the domes scheduled to come down the following week, there was no alternate choice.
Expérience fantastique: i love soccer
Thanks for the review, Grayson. We are so happy to hear you love soccer.
Expérience négative: Summer U7’s = horrible. No ref, no structure, our coach hasn’t even shown up for the last 5 games. If it wasn’t for one of the father’s the kids would have nothing. Voice your concerns and you’re fluffed off by the admins. Very displeased.
Anthony, We are sorry to hear about the unfortunate experience your son is having in our BU7 outdoor program. In regards to your point re the referees, the U7 age group does not have referee's, it has game leaders. This is in line with Ontario Soccer and their Long-Term Player Development model, which encourages free play and assist them with the understanding of the game. With respect to the coach, we do rely on volunteers to ensure our programs run (as do all non-profit clubs) and are sorry to hear this is your experience. We are sending an email your way, so please stay tuned.
Expérience négative: I did not like thta the clib does not offer couches especializad in soccer they search parent to manage the team and they dont teach the children soccer. The idea is just play as they can with any technique. I dont recomend this club. We did some classes in little kickers and they really teach the kids how to play with real soccer teachers. Thanks
Carolina, Thanks for taking the time to provide us feedback. Our U4 program is aligned with the Long-term Player Development Model (LTPD) as outlined by Canada Soccer. It promotes informal play and exploration with physical literacy components. As a nonprofit soccer club, we are grateful for our volunteers who assist us in delivering the multitude of programming we have and do advise our members upon registration (and within our program descriptions) that "volunteer coaches" are utilized. Furthermore, volunteers allow us to keep the costing of our recreational program lower, thereby reducing the barrier of entry. Should you have a concern with the volunteer associated with your particular team, we do ask you to contact [email protected] and we would be happy to address that further.
Expérience fantastique: My kid is having an absolute blast playing. The coaches are engaging and always ensure everyone has a chance to play.
Thank you so much for the positive review. We are happy to hear your child is truly having a great time
Expérience négative: After spending many years in and out with more than one child at different age groups and few management changes, I came to one conclusion it is not worth at any level. It is basically a legal scam and complete waste of time. I have not come across a single couch who knew what he/she was doing plus they were very political and made friends with certain families. I am comparing to a local benchmark. Stay away.
Hi "M T", thanks for the review and we are sorry you feel as though our non-profit soccer club is a scam and waste of time. As we are unable to identify you to send you an email to have a further discussion around the issues as outlined above, would you be so kind as to email [email protected] so we can better understand the issues as outlined? Looking forward to hearing from you.
Expérience négative: I can't even comment on the customer service, because phone calls and emails don't get returned!! My son is signed up for All Abilities- which is so disorganized (don't get me started on that, lol). I have been trying to contact the club to hopefully move my son to a different program and am happy to pay for it.... But it's been 2 weeks of trying to get a person- not impressed at all!!!
Cindy, We appreciate your feedback and will certainly be speaking with our teams about this (customer service and Embracing Abilities). Please note we will also be emailing you for further information to ensure we can deliver the best programs possible.
Expérience négative: We signed up for Outdoor soccer on 28th where they session start from May 26th so we lost one class. Registration was open even on May 28th will full price eventhough one class was over and cost should have been pro-rated. We asked for refund for one class in this tough time however answer was no refund will be provided for that one class to be fair with us.
Palak, thanks for the feedback. We were unfortunately unable to locate an account under this name and therefore, unable to firm the registration program and product. However, it is correct that we do not pro-rate after the first session is missed due to fixed costs associated with the program (this is very common place in soccer). Furthermore, the only registration we are able to see taking place on the 28th was for a program which is waitlisted (unfortunately) and therefore no funds have been collected or technically firmed. Would you please contact us to provide further clarity (again, as we are unsure of the account associated with this): [email protected].
Expérience fantastique: I already played a few seasons in the adult leagues and they are very organized. No complaints. I really like playing in this league. Some times you meet so dirty players in other teams but it seems like they always take action on those type of players.
Thanks for the review, Flavio. We are happy you’ve been enjoying the leagues the last few years and we look forward to continuing to serve you.
Expérience négative: Fall indoor was the first time I signed my son up with BSC. He has never disliked playing an organized sport until his experience here. Customer service is also awful. When Halton decided to override provincial mandates for children under 18, I asked for a partial refund. I emailed the club and have yet to hear back.
Hi Sabrina. Thanks for taking the time to write this review and I am sorry to hear he is having an unfortunate time in our league. I am sending an email to better understand what is making his experience this unfortunate. Please check your inbox. BSC
Expérience négative: I enrolled my toddler in soccer, the vaccine passport mandate came into play after I paid, and I asked for a refund over one month ago. It’s now been 5 weeks to issue my refund and I am still waiting. Phone is never answered. I’m not sure who works there, as I never ever have had a person answer the phone. Been calling for weeks. Horrible. Update: Funny how burlington soccer club can reply to a bad google review (in less then an hour)so promptly. But not communicate about the money I should be returned in the first place. Horrible. Good to know my money will be returned. Eventually. Thank you.
Hi Kielce, Thanks for taking the time for the review. Please note that the refund has been processed on your account (Sept.19) and was sent on the 24th of September and unfortunately returned (printing error). The new cheque is on its way and should be received this week (sent Friday). We apologize for the inconvenience. Please note our refund policy does state 4-6 weeks for a refund.
Expérience fantastique: Great club proud to be a coach of two girls teams
John, thanks for the lovely review. We are fortunate to have coaches like yourself supporting us!
Expérience négative: I agree with alot of the negative posts. Absolutely no respect for parents, they lost my refund request. I'm not sure where the club adopted there soccer skills or the game. No throw ins, offsides. I was learning throw ins at age 6 under Mississauga Soccer Club back in the 80's. Not a good experience.
Ontario Soccer rules allow throw-ins and offsides to begin at the U11 age group during a 9v9 format. This is Ontario-wide and followed by every Ontario Club. Additionally, for the protection of our participants and spectators, the Club has been enforcing modified rules during the COVID-19 pandemic, which include no throw-ins across all ages. This is temporary and a safety precaution to limit touch points for transmission.
Expérience négative: The summer soccer league was cancelled in June due to Covid and despite receiving a written notice that refunds would be processed by the end of June, we are still waiting in September for that refund cheque.
Refunds were processed in June. If you experienced an issue, please contact us at [email protected] so we can ensure your request has been processed.
Expérience fantastique: My daughter typically plays elsewhere but in these Covid times, we quickly jumped at the opportunity to have her play in a mini league and skills session. I found both women (Angela and Taylor) and men (Gordon and Jordan) in charge of the sessions had nothing but the best intention for the well being of the players. They accommodated each request and if they did not, gave quick reasoning as to why not. Overall, I’m glad that the city of Burlington has people like them working towards youth development and engagement.
Thank you for the feedback!
Expérience négative: I don't enjoy writing negative reviews at all, and I rarely do, but in this case I believe it is important for parents to be aware of this clubs 'no refund' policy before considering them, particularly if your child is an introvert or simply wishing to try something new without any commitment. We knew about the no refund policy beforehand but wanted to go ahead and give our son the opportunity to try out the club anyway but sadly he was overwhelmed after 10 minutes and didn't wish to continue. There was no personal interaction with him, no acknowledgment of him given this was his first time there. The coach shouted out orders of what they wanted the kids to do and our son didn't understand the terminology so didn't know what he was being asked to do. (This bad experience is clearly is not every child's experience). Despite the club responding to a review below saying they 'have a refund policy in place to ensure everyone is treated fairly' I haven't found this to be the case. We applied for a refund only a few days after our son's first class but still the answer was no.
Hi Nicola. I am really sorry to hear about your experience. We do have a refund policy in place and do our best to stay consistent and as fair as possible.
Expérience négative: No refund policy after the season starts which isnt fair.... how are you supposed to know if you'll like it? They took awhile to get back and didn't show much tact/customer service skills. Could have at least said "sorry for the delay...and sorry we don't have a refund policy."
Sorry to hear of your experience. We have a refund policy in place to ensure that everyone is treated fairly. If you email [email protected], I would be happy to help resolve this.
Expérience négative: This league WILL NOT teach your child the game of Soccer or ANY Soccer related skills. This league will provide an opportunity for a little exercise. Absolutely terribly run league, they call themselves a "Soccer Club", but there is no coaching, terrible reffing or direction at all age levels. Last issue, they have zero concern over child safety, they don't correct tackling/pushing/incredibly dangerous and reckless behaviour, your kids will be at risk of injury every game, without the league caring
Expérience fantastique: What a great organization for kids soccer. My son has enjoyed playing in their indoor Fall and Winter dome leagues, along with the outdoor summer leagues. They use age appropriate fields, qualified refs, competitive leagues and we'll sin organization. We tried Burlington sports centre leagues once and they were absolutely horrible. BYSC is the way to go for sure
Expérience négative: If there was another club, l would go to there!
Expérience négative: I give all my respect to the volunteer coaches but this league is garbage . We came last year from mississauga where my son played for Dixie soccer club and honestly he hasn't learned anything new since.. they dont teach the kids even basics like throw ins , corner kicks and so on ..one game they were throwing the ball up in the air like basketball to start the game , halftime and after every goal..this is a yuppie league I'm taking my son back to Dixie this league is not organized at all and they still have kids in U8 playing on hockey size nets its pretty pathetic.. Also my son was on the all star team playing against the so called rep team and they beat the rep team I didn't see anything special about the rep players I'm glad I didn't waste more money and time on that just a heads up for parents it's not worth the extra money trust me .. o ya and the fact that they had teams with the same color jerseys going against each other just showed me this league is a joke..the kids deserve a better chance to enjoy and develop.
Expérience négative: The cost of this for children at the lower levels is not reflected in their ability to organize anything. The volunteer coaches struggle with applications to contact parents that do not work, and there appears to be no semblance of organization or help for them. Three days before the organized uniform pickup they are still calling for volunteer parents - just keep signing up kids when you don't even know if you can provide services? Sign up for Friday lessons because your family is not available Saturday - well too bad - the last game will be Saturday morning. How about the company make that information available before they charge a lot of money? Send parent conflicting information about first days - maybe just apologize? No. Instead an employee gets in the parent's face and act like some stereotypical soccer thug. I give this two stars instead of one, only in recognition of the contributions of the volunteers.
Expérience fantastique: Excellent customer service and great quality of coaches and staff 10/10
Expérience fantastique: Well organized! Great coaching.
Expérience fantastique: Thank you to the burlington soccer club, during this pandemic. They have done a terrific job of keeping kids engaged with a variety of online training sesions. Their commitment to thier players, families, and community has been exemplary. A bench mark for all other sports clubs to follow. As a parent, I appreciate the effort and dedication to the long term development of their players. A much needed distraction during these difficult times.
Thank you!
Expérience négative: The club has really gone down hill last few years. They only care how much more money they can squeeze out of people Indoor winter use to have free particle in some, now it's 150$ an hour? For house league. Haha You pay more and get less. This year practices by a "paid" coach cost more So you have a paid coach saying to do ten tippy taps. That's worth $100 right? Last night, first game team loses 13 -0 again well balanced teams. Other parents went to Oakville, I'll be joining them next year. Oakville has better facilities and gives more to the players - yes you still get a practice ball at Oakville
Expérience fantastique: Burlington Soccer Youth Club is a fine organization in our city. My son has reffed house league for about 5 years and the training and support are excellent. Jack Hughes and the other Refs that work with Jack have taught my son a lot about what it is to be a serious referee and a gentleman at the same time. Gabe also played in house league for about 7 years with BYSC and loved it! The coaches and assistant coaches kept the game fun for the players.
