I can’t recommend this place enough – it’s a fantastic way for kids to stay active and learn valuable skills!

And crafting. She sleeps well at night. I’m thoroughly enjoying their high intensity workouts with Meego. He is an excellent trainer. The gym is clean and the owners are so lovely.

While I wouldn't say the classes are easy for me, I would say they have the necessary amount of difficulty to help me achieve my fitness goals. Expérience fantastique: This local gym offers great weightlifting and circuit classes on ClassPass. They always challenge me in the best way. I’ve tried their boxing classes too and they’re super fun. I love the facilities, lots of plants and modern spacious vibe. And close to home too.

Expérience fantastique: I went to my first boxing fitness class ever at Hero Academy, and it kicked my butt--exactly what I want from a good HIIT workout. Meego was a great teacher who helped me with my form. I had an amazing time. The facilities at Hero Academy are modern and clean. There's a separate weight training area, showers, and plenty of lockers. They also mop the floor for you after each class, which is very nice! I'd highly recommend it!

Being out of shape and overweight due to medical reasons, I felt quite insecure at first. However, everyone involved made our experience truly exceptional, offering unwavering support throughout. I particularly appreciated how the coach seemed to understand my efforts instinctively, offering gentle smiles and encouraging remarks that boosted my morale. It was refreshing to be allowed to progress at my own pace. Moreover, the fact that my 10-year-old son could join me in the class was a game-changer. We shared laughter and struggles, strengthening our bond in the process. As a working parent burdened by mom guilt for not spending enough quality time with my son, this experience was invaluable. It was also his first attempt at a striking class, and while he initially struggled with the warm-up, he absolutely thrived in the striking aspect. Having me as a partner allowed him to strike with full force, while my controlled strikes helped me gradually regain strength and improve control. Another highlight of the place is its versatility in offering multiple disciplines, allowing members to explore various classes without constraints. I appreciate the flexibility this offers, allowing me to switch things up when needed while maintaining a consistent fitness routine. Additionally, the prospect of new afternoon fitness classes is enticing, offering a welcome respite from long days of sitting and working. Despite feeling incredibly sore, I'm eager to continue exploring what this place has to offer on a long-term basis. Overall, it's been a positive experience that I look forward to embracing further.

Expérience fantastique: My 6yo son has recently attended one of their summer camps. He thoroughly enjoyed his experience, and every day wants to practice his Jiu Jitsu moves on us. Initially, we had a particularly delicate situation with one other participant (a complete coincidence), and Jamie, Meego, coaches and instructors have handled this with the highest level of professionalism. Out of many different camps, this week ended up being the highlight of my son's summer. We will definitely come back for regular classes.

Expérience fantastique: As someone that has trained at multiple gyms within the Vancouver area, I can say this is by far the cleanest and best designed/organized gym I have ever trained in. The coaches and owners, Meego and Jaime, are commensurate professionals with an endless wealth of knowledge in martial arts and fitness, and brilliantly translate that knowledge into top-tier instruction. I would highly recommend this facility to anyone looking to begin or continue their martial arts/fitness journey, and personally plan on cross-training here again in the future.

Expérience fantastique: Fabulous facility! I trained at Hero Academy for a 3 day Jiu-Jitsu camp - the owner Jamie was very hospitable and welcoming. Mat space and bathrooms are very clean. Loved the availability of the showers and towels, great for after training and not having to wait till you get home. The gym location is easily accessible in the North Vancouver area and within walking distance of cafes and restaurants. Will definitely come back here to cross train again, whenever I am in the area!

Expérience fantastique: Absolutely love Hero Academy! I've been to a few martial art gyms in the past, and this is by far my favorite. A great range of classes and supportive instructors. I appreciate that they offer strength training along with martial arts classes. I do not find it intimidating to join classes alone because everyone is friendly and inclusive. The instructors are friendly and do a great job encouraging proper technique. The gym is beautifully designed and includes so many thoughtful touches for members. I would highly recommend trying a free trial and experiencing everything Hero Academy has to offer.

He LOVED it!! they kept their days diversified with kick boxing, Jiu Jitsu and fun lunch time activities (think water park on hot summer days, hiking in Lynn Valley and walks to neighboring parks). They went above and beyond to make their days entertaining! I’m still jealous of the cool shirt he got! Fingers crossed there will be Spring camp and Summer camp in 2023!! We also did drop-in classes on the weekends and it’s best location for mom or dad to get a coffee while the kids are burning off some energy!! Highly recommend!!

Expérience fantastique: My son participated in the summer program at Hero Academy this year. He very much enjoyed his time, and benefitted from the instruction. My son is not one to mince words when he didn’t have a good time, or he feels that he didn’t get “his moneys worth”. But, every day I picked him up he had a huge smile on his face, and he was bursting with excitement waiting to show the new moves that he had learned on his brother. I feel that the program has improved his confidence, and he was able to handle himself pretty well during a tussle which he got into with a bigger kid over the summer holidays. Not that we want him to use this, but it’s nice to know that he has a increased ability to stick up for himself if the situation calls for it. Great program with great people. I would highly recommend.

Expérience fantastique: My 6 yr-old daughter took MMA, Jiu Jitsu and Strike clases for almost 6 months at Hero. She was able to overcome severe bullying at her school thanks to the purpose that is immersed not only in Meego and Jaime, but also in all the coaches that are part of this great team. She earned confidence during this process and now she has no mental barriers or disadvantages. We will deeply miss Hero and its people and we can't wait to come back and get to know all the great life stories they are influencing with their discipline and mindset. I highly recommend this academy for all youth as they will only have very positive life-lasting experiences that will help them become great adults, make friends and have fun in the meanwhile. In addition, prices and plans are very reasonable for their offering. Very grateful with Hero!

Expérience fantastique: I have been training with Meego ( one of the Hero Athletics owners ) since I decided to adopt an active life style; his strength & conditioning classes are challenging but he's always open to adapt it for any level of fitness He also helped me to fully recover from a knee injure creating an specific exercise program ( it sounds easy but no everyone's gets a full recover , so I'm pretty grateful ) Through the years I also been training Brazilian Jiu-jitsu with him ( private sessions & classes ) He helped me to understand / breakdown techniques or complex concepts related with the sport but also to develop confidence and mental strength ( that's a key factor in any martial Arts discipline; but extra necessary as a woman in a sport mainly practice by males ) He's always empowering, displaying a great attitude but the most important fact : For him this is not just a job Is his passion So training with him is always a great experience

Expérience fantastique: I've been training with Meego and Jaime for years, following them to various gyms. Meego for weight training, boxing, and self defence, and Jaime for boxing. They're both supportive and wonderful to work with, and people that have helped me see amazing results. One of the most difficult things about the pandemic has been that I am not able to train with them, and I miss it a LOT! Meego is really great at both listening to me about where my limits are to avoid injury, but also pushing me when he knows I can be putting more effort in - whether it's lifting heavier or hitting harder or to just keep going. Jaime is an amazing boxing coach, and the way she explains movement and form is incredibly helpful especially compared to other boxing instructors I've had. There are so many 'boxing coaches' these days that have never fought a real fight and have no idea what they're actually doing strategy wise (several of the local gyms hire these folks!) so it's comforting to know that I am getting legit advice from pros about how to fight and how to use proper form. This goes a long way when it comes to avoiding injury and becoming stronger. They're both empathetic and great listeners. I first found Meego after wanting to find a new private coach for self defence in order to process some personal trauma, so it was important to me to work with someone that makes me feel safe. They both do this, and they've become cheerleaders for me in my life as well! I am eternally grateful.

One of my favourite things about the classes is how accessible they are. I am very very new to boxing and only pop on intermittently, but she makes sure her classes are fun, accommodating to all levels — and that they kick your butt! I’m so happy for the Hero team and their new permanent home in north van!

He introduces new strength training exercises and work outs regularly so that it's never boring or repetitive, he takes the time to correct your form, and he motivates and pushes you to do your best. I don't like the "cheesy" style of training out there and Meego is certainly not that. If you want a genuine dude and no BS trainer, I cannot recommend him enough!
