Expérience négative: Cancelation policy of Anytime Fitness is 0 percent in favor of customer . Be sure 150 % you want it before you make an membership. I was excited at the beginning ,but it was too late when I realized it doesn't work for me. Still had to pay 1+year . 1000$ thrown in the garbage. If you are beginner like me, then try gym with better Cancelation policy.
Hi Rudolf! We’re sorry that you did not make good use of your membership here at AF Charleswood. We want to remind you that you did not have to commit to our 12 month plan to become a member and of course there is a 7 day grace period to receive a full refund if you were not satisfied with your experience. All of these terms are in your agreement which you had a copy of after signing several sections. Past that we did attempt several times to encourage you and have you attend however of course we cannot force your attendance. We hope you find something that works for your fitness needs and wish you all the best.

Expérience négative: Signed up for a 3 month membership back in 2019. Can count on one hand the amount of times I’ve been to this gym. Did not re-sign a contract after that 3 months - staff can freeze or change your payments over the phone but cannot cancel, of course convenient to them. Could not make time to get in to cancel so of course they keep charging me even tho I expressed my wish to cancel the membership. Closed the bank account I used to pay them as I no longer used it, of course payment bounces so they start hounding me. Okay sure, I’m responsible for my last payment, I agree to come in and pay my overdue payment which was 29.92. I get in to the office to pay them, they tell me it’ll be 119 to cancel my membership. My overdue payment, plus another payment, plus two more payments for a membership that I expressed I no longer wanted. I said please contact your manager, there has to be something we can do here as I have not used this membership in years, hoping they would be decent people and not charge someone for something they don’t use and don’t plan to use ever again. He would not even bother trying to contact them. After reading reviews I now realize it’s something they routinely do to ppl. Disgusting, would not reccomend this place to anyone.
Hello Lena and we feel sad that you hadn't used your membership for years. We have tried many times to re-motivate you to come by and have kept in communication with you over the years but we do respect your decision to end your agreement. You do know of course that you agreed to have your account automatically renew on a bi-weekly basis on your original agreement and we have gone over this with you as well. We wish you the best in whatever fitness option you choose in the future and wish to see you return in the future as well!
Expérience négative: Disappointed with my experience. With only two squat racks and a small free weight area, the gym is easily overcrowded. This is especially true during peak hours where it becomes almost impossible to have an effective workout.

We do disagree that it’s impossible to get a good workout in however we respect your opinion and wish to see you again someday as we understand you are wanting to end your membership at Anytime Fitness at this time.
Expérience négative: They will juice you for every dime you have, even if the error is with their systems. Then lie and deflect. Instead of reaching out to techsupport or management I was contacted to pay for 2 weeks more of membership than what was written in my 30 days notice agreement. I was contacted and told "sorry it's just what the system says". The entire process of trying to cancel, because I moved provinces, and no other reason, was a complete nightmare. So bad that I was ready to pay the extra bit right over the phone. The payment that I wasn't required to make, that somehow failed to get withdrawn from my bank on the day it was supposed to, may or may not have been successfully withdrawn in the next 48hrs and thereby ending my membership- "The system just says it will try again". When I asked about contacting someone to look into the issue I was told, "uhh tomorrow". If that wasn't your first move and had to be prompted by me after a lengthy phone call which provided no answers but 'the system says" -no, take your $29.99 and leave me alone! I don't care if it double charges me for a service I can't use for another two weeks! I want out of your broken down garbage administrative pit trap! I see a classic deflective response! "We're not responsible it's a third party" "We know it was explained to you" . You Lie! My records tell the truth of it, I was charged for no reason, your documents show the proof. 30 days notice, 3 final payments paid, signed and dated. Your solution is to try and call out your critiques? And try to deny/deflect all responsibility??? No wonder you are an administrative pit trap! At AF Anytime Fitness, it's not us it's you, trust us, the system says! Also our staff are required to be rude AF to you, so have a great day!
Hello Ben! So sorry you’ve had a bad experience at Anytime Fitness. All of our billing is done through a 3rd party billing service that all clubs use. As our staff do not work for the billing company they simply can tell you if your payment did or not go through. As to whether or not the funds would be available and whether or not your current information on file is correct would be your responsibility of course to verify. In the case of a client moving far away from another AF location the process is relatively simple and we know the staff did effectively go through this with you. Even though this was an inconvenience for you, we appreciate you providing information. Thank you for taking time to write this review.
Expérience négative: Hey peter, this is for you man. Peter when I came to anytime fitness and I talked to zach about the membership. Zach told me each and every thing but Zach was not clear about cancellation policies. My question to zach was that if I want to cancel my membership zach told me during the time of membership that you have to pay early cancellation fee of $50 and you are good to go. 1. The fees is way much $29.99 in comparison to fit 4 less, planet fitnessand many other gyms in city. 2. When I asked Zach to cancel my membership he asked me to pay the reminder fees of $1000 for remaining months and when i told him that zach you told me during the time of membership that you can pay $50 for early cancellation and you are good to go and now mr zach is asking $1000 for rema months. 3. Paying $29.99 is not worth it there everytime i come gym is always busy full of peoples you have to wait in order to do exercises. 4. If you want to charge $29.99 biweekly than please offer wide range of machines usage to your customers. Note- So peter give me the best deal man right now , I cannot pay $29.99 bi weekly and the another reading fit 4 less got open near by to my apartment at portage and i would love to go there and workout there.
Hello Khush! Thank you for taking the time to write us a review of your concerns about AF Charleswood. As a business we do need to follow the agreement that you committed to and are willing to help in several ways via freezing the agreement temporarily or transferring the agreement to a friend or family member. In the standard AF agreement there is also early cancellation options for moving to a remote location or having severe medical concerns that make it impossible to attend. What would not be covered as an early cancellation reason is desiring to go to another fitness facility. We hope to speak with you in the office to find a suitable solution for you soon.

I love coming here to work out as it is very convenient and open 24 hours a day! Zach and Toni Is also very nice as well as the other people here. Expérience positive: I would love to give this location 5 stars. It has the things you see at any other gym. Gym bros, machines that are somewhat maintained, treadmills, stair machine, snack machine. My only gripe with this location was that it only has one dual cable machine that is connected with the lat pulldown/cable row set up. Side note: My first time at this location definitely was a new one for me. Person brings in a whole large pizza from Gondola’s next door into the free weight area and starts sharing with their gym buddies. Would really appreciate working out without having the smell of a pizza lingering. Would also appreciate if the people eating said pizza went to go wash their hands instead of touching all the equipment and dumbbells with their pizza hands.

Expérience fantastique: Anytime is the best. I am currently using this gym in lieu of my gym due to their new location being created. Although this location is missing a few machines I prefer, they also carry new machines I hadn't used and it was incredibly refreshing to have such experiences available to me. Staff seem incredible although I don't know them like I know the staff at the old Ness location. If you are looking to start, continue or improve your fitness journey this location is an amazing place to begin your search.

Expérience négative: I find it super concerning that someone has had their membership cancelled for months, yet continues to be charged and won't be refunded despite reaching out through various channels and even to corporate levels without nothing being done.
Hello Danielle! We do understand that you have never been a client of ours and are in support of a friend that did not have a good experience with us due to them not enjoying the cancelation process. We encourage you to do due diligence on your own to understand how our cancelation process works before leaving negative reviews for a business you have never attended. AF Charleswood has clearly defined cancelation processes and has had no issue cancelling client accounts over the years. We simply require that our clients follow the process that is outlined in their agreement that they also have a copy of. This is why complaints to AF Corporate are fruitless, as the client you are referring to unfortunately did not follow proper process that was outlined to them.
Expérience négative: Refund people when you over charge them on a month to month basis after they have tried canceling in verbal and written forms! Also, have your staff refrain from swearing and yelling at customers over the phone and in general! Ugh!!!
Hello Angela! Please understand that we do not swear at clients in person, on the phone, or any other way at all… especially over something so trivial as a client wanting to cancel a membership. We have a written agreement with our clients, both parties are expected to follow the agreement. If you need clarification on how the agreement works it is always recorded digitally and we could send you a copy although they do receive their own as well immediately upon sign up. We do understand of course that you are not one of our clients and never have been, and are leaving a negative review in support of a friend. This reply is to of course set the record straight that our processes are strictly followed with empathy for our clients situations whatever they may be. We do not however allow the client to provide verbal notice or written notice however they see fit because again we have clear processes outlined in our agreement and explained to any client wanting to cancel their agreement.
Expérience négative: I’ve been a member at this gym for over 4 years until recently. I had an incident where another (male) gym member was verbally abusive towards me as well as making threats towards me (a woman). I reported it right after it happened as I didn’t feel comfortable even finishing my workout. The way this situation was handled is absolutely disgusting. I was told it’s a “he said she said” situation and they can’t do anything (even though they reviewed it on the cameras and acknowledged that they could see him trying to get my attention and say things to me). After I voiced my concern to management they told me they wouldn’t be giving him any repercussions as they didn’t want to upset him and cause further altercations. I let them know I would be canceling my membership immediately as I no longer felt safe as a woman at this gym especially with nothing being done to ensure this other member knew this behaviour was unacceptable especially in the gym. The manager told me I would still be required to pay the next 30 days due to their “cancellation policy” - perfect thank you I am scared for my safety but this gym really cares about the $47 they would be losing. In the end they covered the amount but the amount of back and forth in regards to this was very unnecessary and frustrating. I have lost respect for this gym and the management and no longer care to give them my business, as well as the 4 other friends I’ve brought along to get memberships will also be leaving once their contracts are up. All gyms should have a zero tolerance policy for harassment, threats and bullying. Seems more important than a 30 day cancellation policy.
Hello Ashley! As you know we have taken this situation very seriously. We have interviewed both you and the person that you speak of in the said altercation. To recap the situation; you and the person you speak of both exchanged words with each other in a heated manner, then parted ways. The person you speak of apologized for this verbal outburst and simply wanted to continue on with their membership at our club in a normal way. You however, demanded that they be banned from our club for the words that they said regardless of your mutual involvement with them. It was extremely clear that you knew this person and they knew you. We understood there was some past history which our business was of course no part of. Anytime Fitness Charleswood is welcome to all and its unacceptable to have such outbursts. This person you speak of understood this and apologized however you could not accept this and demanded that they be banned from our business or we break your contract in your favour based on you saying you were scared to be in our business. As you pointed out you had been a member of our club for many years and it saddened us that you chose to continue to move in this aggressive direction demanding we do as you say. We hope to see you again one day. Again, it saddens us that you have chosen this direction.

Expérience négative: Was interested in joining a new gym, as my membership at my previous gym near my work had expired. Saw this location advertising a free 7 day trial on their website, so I signed up for the free trial and was directed to make an appointment. When I showed up I was informed that the 7 day trial was not offered, and that I'd have to pay for a membership which I could then cancel within 14 days if I didn't wish to continue. Why then offer the 7 day trial on the website? And why not contact me prior to having to drive all the way to the gym to inform me of this? Misleading and unprofessional.
Hi Dustin! We’re sorry you had a bad experience at AF Charleswood. We have a few things to clarify! Anytimefitness.com will preface this statement upon applying for the 7 day trial pass - “*New customers only. Limited to local residents only. Valid ID required. At participating locations only. Terms and conditions may vary. Each location is independently owned and operated.” During the course of the last 2+ difficult years we have made the decision to limit the 7 day trial pass for extreme circumstances. Not everything is discussed when clients book appointments online through the website and we definitely have no record of a question about the 7 day pass being requested prior to a visit. The policy of being able to get a full refund within 14 days is 100% accurate of course that part of your review makes complete sense as we want to make sure our clients have a good experience when getting their membership setup. One final item of discussion Dustin is that unfortunately only 1 of the 7 day passes can ever be used and we do have record of you using this in the past, if you contact the club we can provide details on this. We hope to help you in the future Dustin whether it be for a short or long term plan to suit your fitness needs!
Expérience négative: Decent gym, and they maintain this location (unlike other locations) The problem is they don't value their clients and their own reputation. You are better off going with a small / local gym rather than these chain gyms that have no personable ability. One of the gyms closed (which was my home gym) and so I could not go to the gym anymore, but they didn't do anything to help in this extraneous circumstance. It's unfortunate but they put profit over people.
Mike you are aware you are not even a Charleswood member but are a Transcona member. You are well aware that Osborne was not your home club hence your agreement not being cancelled immediately or continued at your request. We’ve gone over this with you in phone conversations and emails in length. Your address has not changed since you signed your agreement and you have not transferred to have anywhere else be your home club. Again we are simply following the system that you agreed to when you signed your agreement. There is still 13 clubs in Manitoba for you to use, freezing option or transfer agreement option all of which was explained to you. Using the reason that Osborne location shut down is not grounds for immediate cancellation of your agreement.

Expérience fantastique: I have to say this is a gem of Charleswood for anyone looking to workout and have the convenience of 24/7 gym. They have a great selection of weights, machines and cardio equipment. You won't feel cramped here since there is a ton of space. And on top of all of this they have amazing staff. Toni the club manager has taken this gym to the next level.

Expérience négative: STAY AWAY. You have to sign a contract to become a member, but GOOD LUCK GETTING OUT OF IT. Even if you play by their rules, make your payments and send back your contract cancellation form, they'll still take your money and refuse to let you out of your contract anyway! I sent them back my contract cancellation form TWICE, 3 MONTHS APART and they're still taking payments! I better write them into my will because I'm never getting out of it! LEARN FROM MY MISTAKE- STAY AWAY!!!!!!!!
Hi Nic! As was explained to you throughout closure time periods, we were not working in the office. On top of this you had obligations remaining on the agreement you filled out with us. Expérience négative: Fine equipment. But I didn’t purchase the fob, which allows me to get in anytime. Instead, I had to go at the hours that they gave me. Which was 12am-7pm Monday-Thursday. But when I showed up ready to workout at 5:30, they were nowhere to be seen to let me in. So I didn’t get to workout for a solid 4 days because of their messed up and lazy schedule. Fix your hours.

Expérience fantastique: First few experiences I've had here have been great! It is a smaller gym, but easily packs in pretty much everything you need. Going in the mornings so far I have found it's not too busy at all. I love that the bathrooms are non-gendered, I haven't once gotten stuck waiting for the one bathroom to open up, and several are equipped with showers and outlets so I can go get in a messy, sweaty workout before work, and freshen up without having to go home! Facility is always clean, and the people I have met so far have been very friendly and welcoming. Very excited to have this gym in Charleswood!

Expérience positive: Well, if you don't like juice heads, posers and women that plaster on makeup prior to working out etc then you might enjoy anytime... there are a few challenges, the parking lot is very cramped as it shares it with multiple businesses in the complex. The gym itself is ok.. there's not enough equipment though - one set of dumbbells, (meaning no duplicates) there is only one squat rack that doubles as a bench press area.. there's no formal change room, but there are multiple washrooms with showers... as mentioned the clientele is more down to earth and it's very close to my home - that's the main reason I joined.
Hey David! Thanks so much for the honest review. We do have more dumbbells in the studio, but definitely not larger ones. As you mentioned we don’t have dedicated change rooms, however with 4 private bathrooms I hope that should supply your needs even during peak times at the club. The half rack is definitely a hot commodity but we feel like the majority of the time it’s not in use, however plans to change and improve are always left open. Thanks for joining, and as you mentioned it’s close to your home so that’s very convenient for you and the other great people of Charleswood :).

Expérience négative: Disorganized and unprofessional . They have lied or withheld information on a regular basis. The gym facilities themselves are nice, but the staff make the experience unpleasant and difficult. They have still not delivered on some of the things they promised when we signed up and it has been two months. The highlight being cancelling the contract with the trainers without even bothering to tell the clients - I figured it out when I showed up for my session and the trainer was nice enough to explain since the gym hadn't bothered to.
