I’ve been going to Evolve for 3 months now with personal training sessions twice a week and 1-2 times/week on my own. The personal training is exceptional and totally worth it especially if you have physical issues or limitations that you want to improve. Marc is my trainer and he’s amazing at what he does. I’ve heard very positive things about all the other trainers as well. Great people (staff and users), space, vibe, and equipment – it’s got everything and you very rarely have to wait to use a machine. THANK YOU Evolve for including the sauna (women’s changeroom) as part of the included amenities with the membership - it is a HUGE bonus.

Their positive attitudes and personalized approach make every visit a pleasant experience, making you feel like more than just a gym member. It’s rare to find a place where the staff takes the time to connect with each person but they've mastered this! The gym’s layout and offerings cater to every physical need, from the spacious workout areas to the relaxing amenities. After my workouts I unwind with the infrared sauna in the women’s change room, and I've heard good things about the men’s steam room too. I have begun to explore the additional services the gym offers, and it's VAST, from mobility work to laser hair treatments, you can easily find what you need right there. Now my trainer Jenny D., her combination of expertise and approachable personality is like no other. The way she tailors exercises to your personal level (simultaneously in groups even) and ensures you have fun during sessions is a rare gift for a trainer. It’s clear that Jenny’s dedication to your progress, alongside her enthusiasm, makes the training experience both rewarding and a good time. People often comment on how much fun we seem to be having during sessions :) I can't say enough about Royal Oak Evolve and the beautiful people who keep it running. I'm grateful to have found such a warm community so close to home.

Expérience fantastique: I started training at Evolve Royal oak just after it opened in 2023. As a powerlifter, I needed a place that had great powerlifting and accessory equipment. Royal oak has that and is such a beautiful place to train. The community is awesome and the staff are fabulous ☺️

Expérience fantastique: My partner and I have been attending the Evolve Strength, Royal Oak for the past year and every excellent aspect of this facility from the overall space, equipment, change rooms, reception, music, cleanliness, value, members (yes, members as this gym seems to attract serious fitness fanatics who are more interested in having a great workout than continually checking themselves out in the mirrors (thank goodness for no workout mirrors!!)), and staff (simply the best, including the trainers) all rate 5 stars+. I've been a gym member in countless facilities for over 5 decades and I and my partner can emphatically state without a doubt that this is the best gym we have ever attended. Well done Evolve!!

Expérience fantastique: Probably one of the best gyms in Calgary. I have been seriously going to the gym for the past 10 years and I have been to World Health, GoodLife, Big Sky - you name it. It wasn’t until I came to Evolve Royal Oak that I truly felt like home, it was the combination of the space, the people taking it seriously and not just “socializing”, but also a sense of community. People do know each other and you feel that people like being there as well. Overall a great facility for somewhere that that does any form of exercising seriously.

Nice staff, my only complaint is the group of deadlifters near the free weights seem to always take up the cable machines with their bottles or bags, while deadlifting 20 feet away. Not the gyms fault but it can get on my nerves as there are only 2 of the ones I like. No biggie though, not much you can do. can’t fix stupid unfortunately! Great gym overall though

Expérience fantastique: I started to visit Evolve for the massage services because of my daughter Alya specifically, who trains out of the gym religiously and recommended it to me. I started going to see April at Kind Heart Wellness and have not stopped since then because of her approach to massage and how well she treats her clients! The gym itself is also very clean, impressively stocked with equipment, and the bathrooms are spacious with saunas and other extras for those who need it. I'm very fortunate to have been referred here and I intend on telling others about it. Although I haven't personally worked with any of the trainers, I know that Jimmy, Jenny, Kayley, and Murray are highly knowledgeable and my daughter has had a chance to work/interact with them in her trainings and speaks to their expertise and strength in guiding their clients and making a positive impact at Evolve. Bravo to everyone involved and I hope the gym continues in this trajectory towards changing the wellness game and upholding their inclusive and friendly approach!

As soon as you enter, you feel the welcoming energy and attentiveness from the friendly front-desk staff. Moreover, the tenants working out of Evolve are especially kind and experienced with a great approach to handling their clients! April Cook from Kind Heart Wellness massage and the personal trainer Murray Roberts specifically are great to interact with, not just because of their professionalism in their respective fields, but also as individuals who truly care about everyone they work with. Expérience fantastique: This is an excellent facility. They feature no almost mirrors which seems to really focus people on their workouts. When you go in you’ll see typical commercial equipment but you’ll also see the most top end possible barbells and Olympic lifting and powerlifting equipment so you can lift heavy with the right gear. The staff is excellent and the extra amenities and businesses make it a one stop shop.

The staff are so friendly, the members are all nice and willing to share machines, and its never as busy as other local gyms (my favourite part). Over the past year, they have added new machines, services, and amenities, transforming the gym into a one-stop shop for fitness and rehabilitation. Some of these include, towel service, physiotherapy, MT, and a supplement store (try their protein donuts, they are incredible!) - of course these are to name a few. My favourite amenity is their steam room – a refreshing way to end a workout. Again, as someone who views the gym as a normal part of their day, I can confidently say that Evolve has achieved a culture that effectively, and positively promotes fitness culture in a manner that is meaningful to every individual. Equipment is well maintained and they are regularly adding new pieces! Change rooms have a sauna and other self care essentials like hair ties, bobby pins, hair dryers, & Qtips which is a nice touch. They also play music from a playlist and not the radio which is awesome!

Expérience fantastique: Really nice staff and facility. All the weights you can want - cable, free weights, cross fit, power lifting, artificial turf, cardio machines and more. Early am is not busy. Steam room in the change room is really big, has a cold shower in it. Change rooms are spacious and large individual shower stalls. Pricing is decent. No classes, but lots of independent trainers. There’s also independent businesses for physio, chiropractors, massage, psychology and more.

Expérience négative: Very disappointed in the lack of leadership and accountability. I was enjoying my time at this gym and thought I would be a long time customer. Instead, when I tried to bring forth a matter to the staff I was ignored. I then contacted the owner, and was ignored again. I was at the gym during a quiet period in the early afternoon. One of the trainers decided to walk through me and literally bump me to put something away. When I asked him why he did that, instead of acting like a grown up he decided to attempt to be intimidating. Once I saw that speaking reasonably was above him, I ended the conversation and told him to have a good day. After that, another trainer who hovers around him began giving me dirty looks and having an attitude. Rather than play into this any further I just made the staff aware and told them that I just want to workout without drama and go home. They assured me this would be dealt with and they would update me. They never did. When I went to cancel, the only concern was what gym am I going to next. I contacted the owner Johnny and provided a detailed and respectful email. No reply. It's now obvious why there is a lack of concern from those staff members. The gym is great and there are some exceptional staff members. Just be mindful of where you bring your money and whether or not it's valued here.

They are the most welcoming and friendliest people you will ever meet in a gym environment. It absolutely blows my mind to think otherwise in this beautiful facility. The staff members and gym members alike are nothing but supportive, welcoming and kind hearted. If you have hate in your heart because of facility rules and regulations, don't take it out on them by making false accusations. Karma will come back to them, no doubt. I love working out here and would recommend it to anyone looking for an inclusive gym facility.

Expérience fantastique: Been here since the beginning of 2024 and it has unequivocally the most supportive, friendly, welcoming, and encouraging staff and trainers of any gym I’ve been to before. Always welcoming you with a smile, following up on your progress, and just having great conversations daily. The facility offers many different practices to help with almost any health related goals you have, and the gym itself is very well equipped with plenty machines and never a lack of space or equipment.

Expérience fantastique: This gym is a wonderful new addition to Royal Oak, offering a straightforward and practical experience. It's well-equipped, including a steam room that adds a big plus for post-workout relaxation. The staff at the counter exudes a great vibe, and everything is brand new. There's no lack of equipment, making it very convenient. Additionally, there are other services like massage and a supplement store. This gym is ideal for those who want to train efficiently and practically, without the extra time spent walking to different areas like in some larger gyms. For me, the steam room is a standout feature. It's adequately hot and very well set up. Although I wish there were stools at the steam room's door for a brief rest between sessions, it seems like they might add this soon, as they are still putting the finishing touches on the place.

It is an awesome facility to train at if you have a powerlifting, Olympic lifting, constraining focus. There is lots of space, and plenty of weights even at busier times in the evenings. Love training at evolve.

Expérience positive: I went to evolve today for the first time. Im doing the free trail. It’s super clean. Friendly staff. Lots of equipment. You never have to wait for a machine. I do find it odd that there are no mirrors. I do find mirrors are better to check my form, and to see my overall progress. I wouldn’t want to hurt myself if my form isn’t correct, and I don’t always have a gym buddy to check. I saw online that they did that on purpose, to feel the movement rather than see it. I appreciate they’re trying to do something different. I know for some people, mirrors are extremely distracting. I know some people just flex in the mirror for half of their work out. I’m going to continue to go, because I want to try something different. Hopefully I can get over the mirror free gym

While there is an abundance of heavy weights, the gym lacks advanced equipment such as the Smith machine. The inclusion of a Smith machine would greatly enhance independent training by eliminating the need for manual weight adjustments. I would urge the gym's owner to consider this feedback and consider incorporating a Smith machine as soon as possible. Thank you.

Expérience fantastique: August 3, 2023 Trainer Review: Matt F. I am writing this review for one of the professional trainers at this new fitness club. At the time of this review, I have visited this facility only once upon personal invitation from my trainer. I have trained under the tutelage of Matt in 2 separate fitness facilities in Calgary over the last 5 years and am proud to say that I have achieved great results with him. My history with trainers (prior to Matt) over the last 4 decades has been completely dismal and I had given up due to the lackluster care and attention most of these people who label themselves "professional trainers" had provided to me for a ridiculous fee. This led me down a path of "trainer mistrust" leading to negative fitness results including some injuries because of the lack of knowledge required to develop and build muscle mass in a controlled and proper fashion. My fortunate introduction to Matt: I am of the firm belief that "Everything in Life Happens for a Reason". And coming into contact with him was a "Godsend" in my opinion. I was scheduled to meet with a trainer of a new club in Calgary, and when I arrived at that gym, the trainer informed me that he was going to be suddenly leaving Calgary to deal with personal issues back in his city and introduced me to Matt whom he claimed was a "great trainer" and told me "I would be in good hands" with this guy. Let's just say my "Red Flags" came up and I was extremely skeptical at that point. This sounded like another bad experience just waiting to happen. But I gave Matt the benefit of the doubt, and I was pleasantly surprised. From the start, I realized right away that his style and method was radically different than all the other trainers I had experienced in the past. His "attention to detail" in terms of going through an exhaustive screening of my personal fitness, work history, current health status and my personal goals and objectives really gave me the impression that this trainer actually "CARED" about his clients. He made his objective clear right from the outset. He was going to instill all of his expert knowledge and experience into my personal fabric to help create a new perspective of what a REAL fitness success formula and positive life style would look like for me. Believe me, this was well received on my end. It didn't take long to experience positive results. I realized after 4-5 sessions that my strength and endurance factor was improving very quickly and I recall being surprised that I could actually lift and control heavier weight....with ease and with a shorter recovery time. Matt explained how he was building strength in my accessory muscles which would be the primary components that would assist my major muscle groups to lift and control heavier weight easier and "Without Injury". For example, at the very beginning, I was deadlifting around 100 lbs. One year later under Matt's guidance, I was pulling 500 lbs. off the floor. Bench press was another accomplishment from well under 100 lbs to over 275 lbs. Incline leg presses were at 630 lbs. for 10 reps. And all other strength exercises Matt had trained me to develop and expand upon just kept getting better including heavy squats. To put this into perspective, consider that I am over 60 years old and was out of shape when I began this training regimen. The moral of this story is simple: If you desire quick, safe, and positive results from a certified, accomplished and experienced professional trainer who knows how to build strength, endurance, confidence and generate positive results in your journey to a healthier, stronger physic and better lifestyle, Matt is the fitness expert who WILL make this a reality and WILL carve out a whole new personal world and lifestyle for you. Expérience négative: Corporate owned big box globo gym. If you want a gym community (they don’t allow kids, new parents with babies trying to get or keep fit , or dogs)of any sort look elsewhere, if you want a globo gym this is just an expensive GoodLife with better strength equipment.

Expérience fantastique: I love this gym. A big open space with lots of light, lovely staff and just a kind and welcoming vibe overall. There’s also some boss ladies who workout here, and as a woman that’s a very comforting thing to see. Evolve has helped me stay consistent just because I love coming here. Big change rooms with all the essentials, sauna, shower etc what more could you want? This place is such a gem.
