Expérience fantastique: Very good selection of workout equipment with a walking track surrounding it. The staff at the front desk are always open to answering questions, and the facility is open 24/7.

Expérience fantastique: Nice installations with free weights area, weights machines, squat racks, 100m two-lane track loop. There is also separate areas for cardio machines (ladder, rower, elliptical, treadmill), an area for stretching (with mats, rollers and ballet bar) as well as an area for deadlifts. Also has a rock climbing wall. They have afood/drinks area at the entrance with many options pre or post-workout. Tons of parking onsite as well as a recharge booth for electric vehicles.

Expérience fantastique: Went and paid a drop in fee for the rock climbing wall and it was definitely worth it. The way you they had the wall set up was definitely not for beginners but I’m under the impression that they change the set up from time to time. I enjoyed the extra difficulty as it was actually a challenge to get to the top unlike a lot of other walls I have done before.

Expérience positive: Great gym. Have been to all the gyms in PlaP and the RecPlex is my fav. Lots of equipment, free weights and machines, walking track is great and a variety of cardio machines. The adaptations that they have had to make due to covid is very much appreciated and they are doing a great job of providing a clean facility. As a high school teacher, my students love when we get to go there for class and they are very accommodating for this to happen.

Expérience fantastique: The South port Rec Plex is a first class operation. Staff are pleasant and knowledgeable. The equipment is generally in top condition and there are stations for every exercise, many with duplicate or multiple stations. The facility is kept very clean. Occasional 'out of service' units are typically repaired quickly.Large wall TV's set to different stations offer visual relief between sets. The indoor running oval is 110 meters. Timing clocks hang from the ceiling, easy to see. Weight scale, sanitary wipes in abundance are complemented by generally polite and accommodating members. I have been a member for nearly 15 years and treasure it.

Expérience fantastique: Staff are helpful and friendly. The current system of booking 2 hour time slots to come to the gym ensures appropriate occupancy during the pandemic. Keeping the gym sanitized between bookings is also appreciated. I wouldn't choose any other gym facility and the size of the rec plex makes physical distancing easy. So glad they are open again!!!!

Expérience fantastique: Best gym in the Portage Area hands down. Stride is too small, and Co-op is too old, grey, and janky. They have tons of weights, machines, and bars, 3 squat racks + Smith machine, 3 dedicated bench press benches, 5 more adjustable free weight benches, lots of cardio variety too, isolated mirror spaces, free rent lockers with keys, a running track, free rock climbing anytime for members, fitness classes if you want, and they have the same price as Stride or Co-op. As a certified Elite fitness coach, and holder of a Kinesiology degree, this is the un-contestable best gym in the area.

Expérience fantastique: Not busy. Immediately orders new items on request, very friendly. Open access to the rock climbing wall for members, if you dare!

Expérience négative: Booked my sons party here & they kicked us out of the multi purpose room we booked right away i could have paid the difference for another hour but they wouldn't allow us. the workers were rude & would watch us through the cameras like we were thieves while were tried to sit and enjoy our food, the people who cleaned up also stood and stared waiting for us to leave while we tried to eat our food. We also booked the gym and was specifically told the kids would be allowed to play with the gym equipment but they didn't let them play with anything. First and last time booking here. Going with stride place next time worth dishing out more money for better service. Was told we couldn't book it an extra hour because there was another party and when ask again if there was really another party but one of my guests the person who was working replied with "no who said that?" .

Expérience négative: Very crappy service from 1 worker i waited 35 mins to be helped, but one employee that worked there was amazing! He got us all set up and was very friendly ! The rock climbing wall was great !! Lots of well thought problems and great top rope and bouldering!!

Expérience négative: After 3yrs membership with Rec Plex, staff removed items out of my “locked” locker and items were stolen. I was handed my toiletries in a garbage bag from the Manager. He then stated that my items were possibly donated & that I was called. I had not received a call or a message. When I asked what number they called he couldn’t find me in their systems nor could He find my paperwork. I wanted to discontinue my membership & was told by the manager to cancel it at my bank. The Manager (Mark) was rude & did not offer an apology. He acted as though It was an inconvenience. I called their financial department myself to cancel my membership. After 3yrs I’m saddened by lack of care & customer service.

Expérience fantastique: Rock Climbing is amazing for kids. The staff have helped our friends and kids on their first visit several times in the last few months. The staff are knowledgable and helpful. It's a great activity for kids. They can push themselves and try to get a little higher each attempt!
