Expérience négative: Wasn’t going to post this review but I’m still very disturbed by the treatment at this location days later… Came to this location from out of town. I go to a lot of anytime fitness gyms across the Island and this one was right of the bat the most in your face and rude (or particularly the older man that works here). Changed into my gym shoes in the car and because the worker didn’t supervise that, he didn’t believe me and make me re-wipe my shoes, ok fine. But then he also questioned how I got in, trying to tell me that my pass wasn’t working when I clearly got into a locked facility making me feel like a criminal and trying to look me up on his computer… I got in with my fob that I pay for… This made me feel so unwelcome to a gym that suppose to welcome people from anywhere due to the membership being diverse. That wasn’t the end of it… he then proceeded to come over to the section I was working out to “clean” and watched me like a hawk. Gave me a really unwelcoming and VERY creepy vibe. If it was just the shoes policy, that’s fine but the fact that this guy decided to berate about my fob then and watch me while I worked out was disgusting. He tried to defend his actions by saying he just wants a clean gym, this is great, maybe take some advice from Cordova bay location as their gym is always spotless and they don’t creep on the people using the facility to do so. I have also talked to several people in Campbell River now that have had similar experiences here and haven’t written a review, so let’s hope others start speaking up about this location. All other Anytime fitness locations are great, this one needs to be taken over by someone else. Disgusting behaviour. **response to below: I want to clarify that my intention in posting this review was to share my genuine experience, which has been troubling to me. My feedback is an attempt to highlight a concerning interaction at a public location. While you may view the situation differently, it was unsettling to be treated as if I were violating rules, especially when I had followed them to the best of my ability. I felt that my shoes were very clean as they were brand new and didn’t worry about making the facility dirty as I too like a clean environment. This has NEVER been an issue anywhere else and this was my first time at this location. In this review I wanted to address a key issue from my experience: the claim that my pass wasn’t working. This was inaccurate; and I was lied to as my fob worked fine when I entered the facility, as you could see from your records and clearly you were able to block it so it worked fine and you lied to me off the cusp. I felt unfairly accused and it contributed to an overall feeling of being unwelcome. I felt uncomfortable being scrutinized and watched while working out, which overshadowed my visit. I was not rude to you what so ever. The response to my concerns make me feel unwelcome and dismissed. I find your comments about women not being strong enough to clean equipment to be inappropriate and disrespectful. It’s important for members to feel respected and valued at any gym. My experience, as I’ve mentioned, was not aligned with the warm and welcoming atmosphere that other Anytime Fitness locations offer. I hope this feedback will help improve interactions for future members and helps you reconsider your approach in the gym, especially to women.

The facility was clean and the equipment was fitting for most workouts. Thank you guys for the enrollment and the conversations while I stayed in Campbell River you guys rep the brand very well.

Expérience fantastique: This gym is one of the cleanest I’ve ever been in. Staff are excellent and care for their members. Make you feel like you’re part of the family. There is absolutely no judgement here and even the members will welcome you in. Hands down, this is the best gym I’ve ever belonged to.

Expérience fantastique: The staff and patrons of this location are some of the most accepting and polite people I've ever dealt with. This is the only gym that's made me feel so comfortable. Which has been a major motivating factor in using this gym frequently. Bonus points to the staff for always ensuring solid music playlists cover all tastes of music while working out.

Expérience négative: This gym is terrible. Offers bare minimum. And make sure you call when ur contract is over cause it's one of those places that keep taking money out ur account. Then threatens you by taking it to collections lol

Expérience fantastique: I really enjoy going to this gym. Normally I go at night when there are few people but when I do go in the day, I am always happy with the staff and their smiling faces. They create a positive environment which is truly appreciated. Highly recommend!

Expérience fantastique: M wife and I came in this morning from out of town. Most times I walk into an anytime fitness no one ever greets me or says hello. The woman (can’t remember her name) welcomed us both and gave us a quick run down of the gym. She was very friendly and from her quick intro made our experience memorable. I really like you use reusable cloths for wiping down the equipment as well.

Expérience fantastique: Visited Campbell River a few days ago and needed a good gym. This was the perfection option. The staff was very polite and the price of 15$ for a daypass is absolutely fair. The gym was not crowded at all and there was almost everything I needed (dumbbells, barbells, cable tower).

They push you completely out of your comfort zone and make you feel completely empowered. Anything is possible if you put your mind to it If you are looking for a clean, positive, and friendly environment this is the place to be I love Anytime Fitness it is by far the cleanest gym in Campbell River, all the staff are amazing They are all super friendly, extremely helpful, and help find ways to empower you! There members are important to them you are not just a number when you walk-in the door you feel like you are part of the family. They put members health first in any choices and decisions. I love the support all the members offer each other always offering advice without judgment. If you are looking for a clean, safe environment with no judgment Anytime is the place to be!!!

Expérience négative: It had nothing to do with the shoes thing. It was saying "hey bud" being talked down to that started it off bad. We went one time after paying $340 to start a one year contract. We hated how uncomfortable and unwanted it felt there and the experience as a whole was unlike any gym I've ever been to. We felt so uncomfortable there that we didn't go back and got a membership elsewhere. so we pay $140 a month now to this gym because we are stuck in a contract, and go to a different gym for $120 a month. The reply to my rating is even arrogant, you don't ask if there is something you could do to make it better or what the issue was. you just try to put it on me and make it my fault. I have been to anytime gyms in Edmonton Calgary and Victoria and each one I got the year or more and it was great. I highly recommend anytime gyms but not this one. Sorry but this is my honest opinion and I have spent over $600 at this gym since the end of December. you honestly think that it is because of an outdoor shoes policy that we went elsewhere and are paying 2 memberships at 2 gyms? It's amazing what one person can do to ruin the atmosphere. All I did is give a rating I wasn't going to write anything.

Its ridiculous to charge for a key fob and membership/etc. You could simply provide temporary fobs and take deposits for them in case the user doesn't return. Won't be back and massively disappointed about no short-term options. Too corporate of a gym

Expérience fantastique: Anytime Fitness - campbell river location is by far the best gym I have ever gone too. The facility is always clean the equipment is well kept and up to date. The gym atmosphere is always welcoming wether you go at 2 am/ 11 am or 7pm:) And just when you think it can’t get any better the staff make if feel like you always have someone rooting for you even at the toughest of times. 5 stars all the way!

I am usually a morning guy, so I don't see the staff too much but everytime I do they always are genuine, and very kind. Also Anytime has a bunch of great promotions that come with the membership (BONUS!)

Expérience fantastique: The whole anytime fitness team in Campbell River are so welcoming, it makes it a really relaxed and enjoyable experience coming by for a work out. The atmosphere is always very relaxed and everyone is very respectful of each other‘s space and the gym area as well as the showers are always pristine. It’s always nice to get such a lovely welcome When you walk through the door and a pleasant goodbye when you leave.

Expérience négative: Very disappointed and definitely will not be coming back. I have been a member of Anytime Fitness at a different location and have never dealt with any issues surrounding the gym. When I came to this location, I was told by the owner (male), that I was not allowed to wear a sports bra in the gym. He told me that “there are other body building gyms in Campbell River”, which was very inconsiderate and extremely rude. First off, what gives you the right to tell me what looks “modest” or appropriate for a gym? No one surrounding me appeared uncomfortable and I have never encountered that in any of the gyms I’ve been to. I can understand the aspect that others may feel intimidated, but anyone of any shape, gender or form should be encouraged just to be at the gym and not discriminated against for what they’re wearing. Attitudes like that are not only offensive, but very sexist. I felt very uncomfortable after that comment was said to me, and I don’t encourage others to go there.

Expérience fantastique: Hands down the best gym I have been to. Me and my girlfriend moved up to Campbell river for 3 months and signed up to anytime fitness. The staff are 10/10. Very personable, friendly and would make you feel great before and after your work out. The equipment is all brand new and top of line. There is always someone cleaning up and it is super tidy. We both miss you guys and gals and next time we are in Campbell river we will pop in to work out and say hello for sure. Thank you

They have a nice variety of machines, free weights, and a studio with tons of classes. Would highly recommend. The AF team are truly there to make the most out of your fitness goals.

Expérience négative: Dropped in a couple months ago and they me I couldn't work out in a crop top. The owner (male) interrupted my workout and gave me the creeps. Stay away. Edited due to the ignorant response from the owner: what gives you the right to determine what is "modest"? My upper stomach shouldn't offend anyone, I should be allowed to work out in whatever makes me feel comfortable. The dress code wasn't creepy, the owner was, and the only intimidation any members would feel comes directly from him. Your response is just defending discrimination.

The owners and staff project a positive and happy environment and have a genuine concern for the health and fitness of their clients. It is evident that the owners and staff take a great deal of pride in providing an immaculately clean and welcoming facility for their clients. As a member for nearly 1 1/2 years I can definitely recommend this fitness center. I would suggest anyone wanting a great exercise experience to become a member.

The studio is a really fun way to get involved in a classroom work out environment without having to deal with scheduling or needing a group to go with. I would recommend this gym to anyone in Campbell River / Comox-Valley who wants to work out at a clean professional gym with state of the art equipment.

Expérience fantastique: I joined Anytime Fitness Campbell River just recently and have already been impressed with the helpful staff, cleanliness and friendly atmosphere. Nice open layout and I love the "Anytime" flexibility. Lonnie, the local owner, went out of his way when I locked my belongings in a locker inadvertently - he even delivered my items to my office without my asking. So Kind. Wow!

Expérience fantastique: The staff are really friendly and there's a great variety of equipment from free weights to rowing machine, leg press etc. I wish they had proper spin bikes because the Life Fitness bikes aren't really any good. Other than that it's a great gym! Love the welcoming non-judgmental atmosphere.
