Expérience négative: How can a person work out and not take a shower, the gym is open 24 hr, if I go to the gym before work I need to shower and if I go to the gym after my work out I need a shower , I got my membership not knowing I can’t take a shower , when it say the gym is 24 hr and I can’t cancel my member ship unless there is a staff member which no one is there I. The times I need the gym . i’m sorry, but the gym facility showers after a workout. I’m sorry I sweat I’m getting out of my gym clothes and I wanna put clean clothes on to go to work or I’m coming back from work and I just got my work clothes off and I wanna put clean clothes on. I’m sorry I’m not. I need that. I need a shower after my workout. I need to be clean. I’m not putting dirty clothes on what if I worked out and I went and had a job interview and I smelled like frigging stink come on showers are required.

Expérience fantastique: Just joined and had a warm welcome from Tony and Emily. And - unlike some other gyms - they know exactly what they are talking about regarding weights and all of the machinery. The setup is not crowded and the black-card lifting room is VERY well equipped. Enough weights for even the most serious lifters. Great experience so far!

Expérience négative: I came by hoping for a quick tour, the main entrance is locked without a membership card. They have a doorbell which I rang repeatedly and waited about 10 minutes, nobody came to let me in. This was at about 1:30 in the afternoon on a week day (so not off hours). Very weird that a potential new member can't even get in the door. Big waste of my time.

Expérience négative: Honestly, ive been planning on reviewing this gym since i became a member here over a year ago. Im not sure if it’s a Fit4Less thing as this is the only F4L I’ve been too but they blast music. You don’t even get an option to listen to the music you want to listen to unless you put your AirPods on full volume to drown it out and then your ears are bleeding after. Secondly, sometimes the guy who works in the mornings during the week usually doesn’t leave the front desk even though the garbages are overflowing and the spray bottles and paper towel dispensers are empty. It happens pretty often. He’s got a bit of an attitude as well unless you’re one of the people that go to the front desk to have small chat I don’t use the bathrooms anymore unless I really need. It’s super close to where I live so I’ve been dealing with it. I don’t think much will change but if you could be considerate with the volume, that would be a great start.

Expérience positive: This fit4less location subpar. This location could use its additional empty spaces for more equipment. Aswell, the temperature in this gym especially the black room is very hot and for me quite uncomfortable.
Expérience négative: Dirt, dust, paper towel pieces and toilet paper on all the floors. The change rooms are always filthy (someone shaved and left their trimmings on a shower wall??), stains on the urinals, etc. It doesn't seem anything is ever cleaned, including machines. I filled my water this morning and it was white and milky in colour (definitely bring your own water from home). Decent selection of machines although there's always a few broken down. Can't argue with the cost. I guess you get what you pay for.

Expérience négative: This has to be one of the worst gyms I’ve ever encountered in my 10 years of fitness. The staff is not friendly or approachable, the change rooms are always filthy and disgusting, and the only time I ever see staff making an effort to clean is during peak hours on a SATURDAY when it’s super busy (even though they are staffed at slower times throughout the day). I had a senior male employee literally vacuuming between my feet MID SET, and when I made a sarcastic comment somewhere along the lines of “don’t worry I didn’t want any personal space anyways during my exercise”, the employee angrily made a scene in front of everyone (again during peak hours). I shook it off and continued on with my workout, actively trying to avoid this employee, but as I quietly approached the change rooms later on, he confronted me and continued to raise his voice at me in front of management and other members/employees, vehemently denying that he was unnecessarily too close for comfort. On another occasion, this same senior male employee asked me to let him know if there were women in the change room, so he could go in and change the garbages (again during peak hours), and I politely said I would let him know on my way out after changing. As I’m changing, I was chatting with a few other women, when suddenly the male employee begins to enter the change room unannounced. Another women stopped him and said there are women changing, he waited 30 seconds, then continues in to change the garbages. I found this very uncomfortable and bizarre considering that it was peak hours and he was trying to enter the WOMENS change room, let alone the fact that when he left the change room, he had ZERO GARBAGE with him, as the garbages did not actually get changed. I found this experience incredibly unsettling and completely out of the norm, compared to any other gym I’ve ever been a member at. This gym has decent equipment but the staff is atrocious and management doesn’t care. Many of my friends have began to make the move to switch gyms, and I have now followed suit because of these experiences. If you’re looking to start at the gym for an affordable price, don’t waste your time here when Durham Ultimate Fitness is a stones throw away, with great pricing, amenities and fantastic staff!!

Expérience négative: 2 of 5 Stairmasters have been broken for a year or so. More than half the treadmills glitch and get stuck when running on them. Half the cables aren't working. Why does this take months to years to figure out and fix?

Expérience positive: After three months of membership, I can say two things: the range of equipment in the facility is excellent; yet it is one of the dirtiest, most poorly maintained gyms I’ve ever attended.
Expérience négative: Buzzed the front desk from the back entrance for 10 mins. Couldn’t get a hold of anyone. Lots of bike machines out of service, as well as washrooms and changes room not properly maintained. There’s toilet paper everywhere and sink stains.
Expérience positive: Nice space, lots of natural light. Disappointed that nothing seems to get repaired. When you join there is an expectation you have contract. You commit to pay and they commit to provide services. When those services are not made available there is an expectation that the service will return in a reasonable time frame. When it was Goodlife the maintenance team was on site regularly. Bikes that have been out of order for months. Cables that should have been replaced long before they break takes the equipment out of service. Surely a company the size of Goodlife, and don't forget this is the same owner, has an inventory of bikes they could swap out and take the broken bike back for repair. Also, how can they not have inventory on ready to go cables that can quickly be swapped out. Overall, disappointing which forces customers to consider other options. At this location the "Less" in Fit4Less is certainly the level of service we have seen in the past from this location.

Expérience fantastique: This is one of the better fit 4 less locations, they have plenty squat racks, cable machines, dumbbell’s and a variety of machines. Compared to other locations it’s very spacious and clean. Im surprised At all the negative reviews. At the price you pay here your getting so much, definitely a hidden gem

Expérience positive: Was very pleased with this fit4less, It has the foundation of a premium gym. Large selection of equipment, a proper black card room, and gym etiquette. I did go around noon so the time is a contributing factor, very clean and nice. I would recommend it.

Expérience négative: The equipment is great when the staff get around to maintaining and fixing the broken machines! However there is one particular staff member who is probably the most disrespectful person I’ve ever met! He has no compassion and judges the people working out for absolutely no reason, he is almost always on his phone at the front desk and ignore people walking past as if it is not his job to help them. A friend of mine and I asked to use the massage chairs, unaware they were shut off at 9:30 at a location that was supposed to have services available until 10pm. The staff member looked at us and proceeded to say “yes you can use them!” He was nice at first but his entire demeanour changed and with unnecessary attitude said “ but In the morning. It’s 9:39 at night, they close at 9:30” i completely understand not allowing us to use them as they were shut off but the attitude and the way he looked us was very aggressive and intimidating, and due to that staff member this is not a place I enjoy being anymore!

Expérience négative: Possibly the worst customer service by management, and staffing that I have ever experienced. My goods were stolen out of my locker days ago, and I recieved nothing but ignorance, rude backlash, and lack of compassion from a specific employee/management. My goods were later found randomly in the bathroom stall the very next day ironically, and I was banned because I was frustrated that a specific employee did not take matters seriously during the time of the event. I had no car keys, coat, or belongings with me because they were taken from my locker, and the employee did not care and said that it's not his problem. On the clock or off the clock, an illegal matter should be taken seriously when an employee is still lingering onsite. I used specific language f@!^ing i!@t, which resulted in me getting banned. As the vicitm, I feel like I was treated like the perpetrator. I do not recommend that anyone attends this gym due to the lack of compassion/care that their employees offer towards customers. This also is not the first incident, I am sure. I have heard many folk complain about the poor customer service that this gym offers. I, myself will not ever be going back to a fit4less, and I do not recommend anyone takes the risk to sign up at this location. Biggest joke of a location I have ever encountered.

Expérience négative: Probably the worst gym in Bowmanville. Machines are constantly broken, customer service is horrendous and no one is ever at the front desk. If you accidentally leave something in your car and need to go back out and get it, don’t even think about coming back in to workout, you won’t be able to scan your card again for another couple of hours and NO ONE is at the front desk to answer the speaker/buzzer. I would not recommend wasting your money at this gym.

Expérience négative: This gym needs a lot of updates and leaves a great deal to be desired. Pros: Wide range of equipment. Cons: - Equipment is outdated and breaks down often or has damage. - Gym is not staffed 24/7. As a result, weight plates are commonly left on equipment. Garbage is commonly left on floor and equipment. Equipment is rarely cleaned by gym users and never cleaned by staff. - locker area and washrooms are dirty and messy. - The temperature at this gym is VERY warm. It makes for difficultly working out and has caused me to feel nauseous and has made myself and friends need to cut our workouts short. - I’ve been charged unfair costs due to company policy. When I explained my situation to the owner, she made excuses up and did not refund as a courtesy. - The employees I dealt with were not knowledgeable when I came in asking for help with my account. Overall, I would not recommend this gym and would recommend traveling into Oshawa for better gym options.

Expérience positive: Have been going here when it was still a GoodLife, on and off for about 5 years. Switched to Planet Fitness once, couldn't stand the ugly purple, came back. I've never had an issue with this gym. The staff are friendly and welcoming. I've had minor issues with other people here (equipment hogs but that's typical). Especially during the past couple years, (early 2020-early 2022), everyone, both staff and gym people have been so understanding with masks and wiping down the equipment after use. I didn't give a 5 star rating because sometimes some of the cardio machines (I'm looking at you, stairmasters) are broken/'under repair' for waaayyyy too long it seems (a few weeks) and during the week at 5-6pm if it's busy and machines are broken, it's slightly annoying to have to do something else.
Expérience fantastique: Way better then the GoodLife that was here. Only problem is they have the sauna still set up but don't use it. Why not charge extra to use it.

Expérience fantastique: UPDATE: Sep 4, 2023 Just an FYI! FREE internet is now available. Woohoo. UPDATE: Mar 3, 2023 I'm updating my rating to 5 ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️'s! I have been coming to this gym for 20 years now. With the pandemic behind us, the overall cleanliness and overall membership have improved. NOTE: Management needs to BAN those members who are caught defacing the facility, including the state of the men's change room, where some very unsavory things have taken place. I won't mention it here, but they certainly would NOT leave it on the floor of their shower at home. UPDATE: Jan 2, 2023 Things have improved post-pandemic. ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️on a couple of fronts. Staffing has increased along with attentiveness to the overall appearance of the gym. Though it would be nice if some members treat the gym like they would their own home in a better fashion; cleanliness. Show some respect to the gym from the attendees. It will encourage the staff to do better.

Expérience négative: Well tonite the boyfriend of one of the staff members lost it on a regular client in the gym. I remember opening this gym when Mayor and found Patch to be focused on customer service. It has totally gone down hill. I am glad I am a Platinum member in Courtice.
Expérience positive: With the new COVID 19 capacity restrictions, what's Fit4Less doing to ensure that the same people are not booking workout timeslots every day while others are lucky to get in once a week or sometimes once every 2 weeks. Perhaps there should be a 2 workout limit per week restriction so others get the chance to workout.
Expérience fantastique: Not a bad setup for a Fit4less. This must have been a Goodlife location before as the equipment is better than most other Fit4less locations.

Expérience positive: I go late at night (after 8pm), and this is the most cost effective gym in the area for the amount of equipment and types of equipment (lots of free weights) that I've found. You have to buy the premium membership to get access to the squat racks, and some extra equipment which is not so great. So far I've not had any issues with the staff.
Expérience négative: The woman who has been given the title of manager, Olivia, is absolutely horrendous to deal with. She lacks any and all understanding of customer service and lacks any basic communication skills. Numerous members have complained about the same person and her lack of leadership and professionalism, and poor attitude are negatively impacting this business location. Olivia imposes arbitrary rules and believes it in her right to deem what is and what is not considered “physical activity”. Olivia specifically asked me to put on a mask after what she considered me to be doing “physical activity”. In Fit4Less policy, it states masks do not need to be worn during physical activity, so I am wondering where the disconnect is? Her behavior with how she has been approaching me in the club is harassing in nature and head office/other people visiting the club should be aware of the person who is responsible for running this establishment.
Expérience négative: Olivia is absolutely horrendous in terms of customer service. If you don’t like your job then perhaps don’t take it out on members with your poor attitude. She imposes arbitrary rules that even she cannot explain when asked to do so. It’s a shame because this gym used to be so well run when it was Goodlife. The lack of proper management and customer service will deter many from renewing their memberships. She threatened to place my membership on hold because she deemed what I was doing as “physical activity” but still demanded that a mask be worn, which is against what the policies and procedures of the club state.
Expérience négative: The manager Olivia has a real attitude problem. Does not understand simple customer service behaviour. When you try to explain ,she hang up the phone. She Really don’t understand what is the meaning of management.
Expérience négative: They never answer the phone, can never see if the gym is busy or not. No wifi, so you’re using your own data and phone for music and whatever else needed during your workout. Get with the times GoodLife, planet fitness has free wifi, a crowd meter to show you how busy they are, free pizza and stuff every Monday of the month. I cancelled and switched!
Expérience négative: The website is terrible to navigate. Can't book a workout appt, if you wanna talk to someone use email, they'll get back to you in 7 to 10 days. Paid in full for the year closed the gym down 3 days later. Won't give a refuknd if you've paid for the year. Hasn't been open in 5 1/2 months this is an absolute joke. Won't let you leave a review unless you give at least 1 star.DUMP

I don't want it for social media, I want it for the music to enhance my workout, I think you guys can afford that. Everywhere nowadays has WiFi. Joke.

Expérience positive: It's great for an affordable gym and it's open 24/7, which is amazing for someone like me, who is on rotating work shifts. The studio area could use a bit more frequent cleaning and more mats for stretching privately. Otherwise, I am pretty impressed with the atmosphere overall. I only just joined, but I hope it'll be a long lasting relationship.

Expérience négative: 11 minutes ago Was told I could bring a guest with me if I sign up for black card and pay extra, when I show up with a guest they then proceed to tell me you can only bring a guest when you don't come with your guest... So in other words you cannot bring a guest, this makes no sense and would not recommend this gym.
Expérience négative: The fact that showers are not made available to non staff hours is a big downer as I am there @ 5 am do a work out and from there go to work been doing this routine for over 20 years @ Goodlife, I feel sorry for the Black card holders that pay a higher rate and can't use all the amenities @ non staff hours, For me the price is right $4.99.
Expérience fantastique: The new manager at the fit4less was amazing. We walked up to her right when they opened their doors (because we didnt have access cards yet) and she was the most pleasant woman! She made us feel comfortable right off the spot and explained everything about the 24/7 access. Loads of space and machines. Great gym for a great price!
